The cable news networks are in the middle of an MTv-like shift. They claim to have killed newspapers, yet all of their stories begin, "Today The Washington Post is reporting..." They produce little to no news content and are just a filter for other people's work padded with opinion. But every year more filter options emerge, ones that can link us back to the original work we're interested in. And so cable news must shift their content from repeating what someone else published earlier that morning to featuring what makes them unique, which seems to be an endless list of "expert opinions" ready to appear on screen at a moment's notice. I wonder if they know this is happening? Sometimes it seems they are too busy laughing at the death of network news to realize they're in the same boat. And neither will die, they'll just get boiled down to what makes them unique. Network news will play to its audience of people who cannot afford cable, and cable news will shout a lot - possibly with mud wrestling. Oh and hi.

have a great birthday :)
from autumn-kitty :
Um, you're not going to go all Sylvia Plath on me, are you?
from influence :
Oh, I just looked at that link closer. Get a lavender skunk!

What? You didn't like the hissing cockroach? Rats are supposed to be really smart too, and they take up less space. My old roommate had one, but did you know they need constant affection? Apparently rats get lonely and depressed easily when left alone. Who knew?

How about a nice Pac Man Frog? http://petplace.netscape.com/articles/artShow.asp?artID=3175

I didn't see any DHS hats, maybe because people around here will think you're just proud to have attended Denton High School, but check this out http://www.capitolshoppingmall.com/

Right? When I heard Kerry use the term hatriot, oh, I was all filled with the spirit or something.
from autumn-kitty :
Are you a former infatuation junkie? I still am. Social services all have the same pitfalls, but as long as we can laugh at the end of the day...they haven't beaten us yet.
from influence :
Wow. How did that not get weeded out by evolution?

And we have to have a pet goat named Gertrude.

Ok, fine. But beneath the main house, we're building a concrete bunker to hide from hurricanes and tropical storms. Decorated in the style of a 50s diner of course.

Ok, but make sure it's really south, I don't want to get caught in the middle if Korea is still on the shit list after Iran. But then, not too far south, because I don't want to get in the middle of whatever Israel and New Zealand have going on. How do we feel about Antarctica?

Happy Birthday, Handsome.

Well you have to read something while all of that white girls, black cocks/horse loving farm girls/forty year old women squeezed into catholic school uniforms while gang banging porn is downloading.

Oh man, I feel you. My rule has always been: if you can't get four hours sleep, you shouldn't get any at all.

I learned Pascal. I never learned Basic...but it's great.

They paved paradise and put up a parking lot. Damn.

I'm betting that the key to the bed-in-the-living-room is pillows. Only sluts will go for a stripped down bed, but a well decorated, heavily pillowed "couch" that just happens to turn into a bed with a passionate sweep of the arm? Oh yeah.
from swimmmer72 :
yes, i think i'd rather be a "self-righteous prick" than a "compulsive liar", too, although i don't think you are either one. the funny part is that i used to feel sorry for her because of all the things that had happened to her - the cancer, the beatings, the bad ex, and all the drama - now i feel sorry for her because NONE of them DID happen to her. i hope you weather this without too much shit. you only did what anybody with a conscience would have done. :)
from foxydinofox :
Thank god we were at home watching cartoons on Sunday. Although, I've been meaning to talk to the devil about how much I dislike him.
from autumn-kitty :
Paranoid hystrionics is an understatement, Sweetie. This chick needs professional help if she's believing the lies herself, which it sounds like she is.
from influence :
You could always be like me and get a 1945 pinup girl tattooed onto your bicep.
from midniter :
There's some beauty in this after her telling me that she was tired of high drama. You would think we would have learned our lesson after Martin.
from influence :
I've spoken with Jill since all of this came out, and not only has she been slow to admit the truth, she's created new lies along the way. She refuses to speak for herself, instead only following the lead of my questions. She's even left me messages where she falls back into the Claiborne" personality and then catches herself. I'm not sure she even knows the truth of her own life anymore. But all of this is to say I thank you. You have been an amazing help to me even if you did not intend to be. Thank you.
from trinity63 :
I am really sorry that someone you were friends with dishonored and violated your spirit like that. All I can tell you, it's more common than you know. And she's a few fries short of a happy meal.
from lilith73 :
I don't think you're a "self-righteous prick" and honestly, when I saw your name, phone number, etc., up on the other site, I honestly thought you were being a good guy by trying to explain. So in trying to make you appear the fool, she failed, and failed miserably, because she made you appear to be the noble individual that you seem to be.
from battle-ramen :
Exactly. I feel like a chump, too. I wondered if she was the same kind of person in real life, lying to people that she knew...I guess that settles my question. She's seriously got some kind of mental problem if her lying is that out of control, if she's making up a different story for everyone she knows on and offline. It's a shame for all of us, because like Gene said, she really was an interesting and charming person to talk to. If it weren't for the fact that everything that came out of her mouth regarding herself and her life was a lie, I'm sure she could've gotten by just fine being herself.
from trancejen :
That was a fantastic entry. I wrote about the whole scenario myself, mainly because it was bothering me. I hope you won't be barraged with phone calls/etc. It's sad the way the whole thing went down, but I guess we've all learned something from it. Cheers.
from battle-ramen :
Hi, this is Kerry, a friend of "Claiborne." Well, at least until a few days ago. I just want to say how much I admire and respect the fact that you were willing to tell the truth to Influence and everyone else who has been taken in by Jill Doyle. I know I was; I considered her to be one of my best friends. We exchanged letters for the last two years, and spoke on the phone several times a week. While I had my doubts about the validity of the drama in her life, I never questioned it because--well, that's not what a true friend does, right? And I just couldn't believe that a person who would make up every single detail of their lives in order to emotionally manipulate others could possibly exist. However, now I know that they do. She is a very sick person, and I appreciate (more than I can ever possibly express) the fact that you've spared us all more pain by finally letting us in on the truth. Thank you.
from vesselland :
