| (((agave))) i've been on the inside 3 times, and always voluntarily, so i don't pretend to understand the gross [and i *do* mean gross in multiple senses]usurping of power seized from patients who just want their moods to lift and stabilize and to think and feel peacefully. the battle of wits to keep at bay fickle institutional decisions to restrain, to 'quiet room', to 1:1, etc... despite their definitions of crazy, we are all ENTITLED to our fear; our fear is a natural-born guide, a defense weapon, a compass, a shield. no good psychiatrist/therapist/doctor should condition any human being absolutely ignore, discredit, or discount our inborne fears that alert us that we may be in harm's way. manage our fear's intensity, yes. dismiss our fears completely, no. so, let every buyer (m.d./ph.d./r.n. whatever) beware! your trust is priceless & your fear barometer will not be sold. |
