Thorton W. Burgess is an amazing kids author. He wrote the Mother Westwind Series that I adored as a child. My grandmother read all of them to me and then eventually I read all of them myself. I bought a set of them as gift for my mom a few years ago and she has just recently started reading them to her highness.

My mom slammed my hand twice in a car door and once in a sliding van door and I lived to tell about it. Of course they were all accidents, but just to reassure you, not only did I survive but I rarely if ever bring it up to my mom anymore, I'm 29, so the guilt trips do end eventually. Just kidding. I don't bring it up to her, but I did have my hand slammed in car doors all of those times. Hugs!

The death issues are so hard. Although I was traumatized at the time, I'm glad we've had a couple of dead pets to work through. Hopefully when we get to the point of talking about people, AJ's past experiences with animals will help. But I'm glad he's not worried about it!

Thanks for the good wishes on the costume. I'm kind of excited about it. By the way, if you're doing fairies, you should take a look at www.magiccabin.com. We received a catalog from them last week -- I have no experience with buying from them. They had some gorgeous-looking fairy costumes. They might give you some ideas or, since they're available piecemeal (wands, wings, tutus, headbands, etc.), perhaps some of the pieces might be useful.

Sands - Our girls are getting so old. Her highness carries an empty backpack back and forth to school every day because she thinks it's important to have it. sears. I went to this particular sears photo studio when she was three months old because I was broke as broke could be and I just wanted to get some professional shots taken of her cheaply and I loved them and we've gone back for all of her portraits since and well you've seen the results.

Why do I have the destinct fear that my kid is definately not going to be the good kid in the class. She really isn't bad, but wow can she be defiant, just because and she's not even three yet. I'm actually hoping school will cure her of some of that. Right now I fear she is too much the center of too many peoples lives. Our kids are getting impossibly old. Cassie starting kindergarden, her highness starting pre-k, it just can't be. They should still be babies. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. Hugs!

Hoppy EASTER! We did Disney for the first time when I was 7 and I was still young for a lot of it then. I just can't see dragging a two year old over a 1000 miles at 9 million dollars when she won't really appreciate it. As for my mom, when I was a child I had to give her money all the time. She'd give me grief over sending me to private school (her choice not mine) and I'd give her money that my grandparents gave me . So now that I'm trying to send my own child to school she takes money from me that I tell her I can't afford to give her? I'm furious. Except for $500 the last month of my maternity leave (which I paid her back with my first pay check) I haven't asked my mom for dime and I have struggled. I know life is too short to dwell but I'm doing everything I can to stay afloat and my mother who pretends to be so supportive just tried to drown me. Hope you guys had a great easter. I'll upload pictures and post them tonight. First I need to take advantage of a certain young ladies nap to get my house cleaned up, it looks like a tornado hit. HUGS! R & M

Sands - Thanks so much you are always so reassuring it was just a nightmare. I was pretty calm when it actually happened but I totally lost it when I had to call the doctor and didn't have the number. Then that bitch in the office didn't help. Luckily her normal doctor was fantastic as always and between him and Kevin and just seeing that she was doing just fine I'm doing ok myself. My mom said I probably wouldn't get much sleep tonight, what with the checking on her every five minutes. Ok so it probably won't be that bad, but I imagine I'll be up a few times. Poor baby. She says it doesn't hurt, but she's got a purple knot on her head that you can't see in the pictures and the bruise just breaks my heart. Yes indeedy do...for all of the stress gala planning and prep provides me it isn't a bad perk getting to attend $500 a plate black tie events. In fact I enjoy most of the planning, I just want to strangle annoying manager. I'll work on the photo issue, you know I never post pictures of myself, but I do suppose the dress isn't really myself. Last years dress was a lovely bright blue, this year I'm going with a more wine plum color with a gold wrap as an accent. YAY! 2 weeks and it will finally be here. Hugs! R

Oh yea and they sell those tiny little black rubber bands in stores just like you get in the salon. You might want to invest in back ups. Her highness gets her "pony hair" with little colored ones just like that, which I was able to pick up at walgreens and I feel a lot better about losing those when a certain princess takes them out than I did when she was losing expensive hair things all the time.

Sands - They won't stop this whole growing up business and I'm not sure I like it. I really liked the picture too! thanks! Most of the time I really do enjoy this job and appreciate the opportunities it provides. I could do without at least one of my fellow employees, but the rest of the work environment is pretty darn awesome. We were talking about that yesterday as we were crawling all over the pres. office unsupervised and being able to do whatever decorating we felt appropriate. Oh and to answer your question that I never got around two from whenever that was, my parents generally like Kevin. They don't see him much, my mom complains about that. They didn't really and truly meet him meet him and spend any actual time with him until I was in labor which my mother still rants about that from time to time. Ok, I need to get some serious work done, I've been a major slacker today and it's starting to show. You're little one isn't so little anymore either and is cuter by the minute. ~ Hugs Egg

I had a super hard time leaving her at preschool for the first time. She always stayed with my aunt and her cousins before then. But you know, she's changed so much in the past year there. She's reading on her own, she can count to 50, she knows her colors and numbers, and some spanish. Plus, she's become the most out going, out spoken, friendly child since then. It's wonderful!

For the record, that's exactly the kind of love *I* was talking about too! Mmmmmm....coookies. Ok, yeah, I know that Nikons are superfantabuloso cameras, with their Nikor lenses and and all that good stuff. But...the Olympus was on sale! I'm not made of stone!! Plus, I've had Olympus outfits all my life, and they really are pretty good cameras. Hey, they use Zeiss lenses, which are right up there with Nikor. But really - a SALE! Nonetheless, just to please you, next time I'll go with Nikon....if it's on sale :)

However we've offered to continue to give her all the money she needs to pay the mortgage, utilities, food & clothes for the kids and school for the ones in catholic school and still she won't relent. He has a harley that he dearly adores and her highness is the only on of his children who hasn't been on it since she's too little, so she bought him a baby harley toy so they can ride their harley's together. I would have seriously considered it if I had not been terribly afraid that it would be at that exact moment that the vice president would walk into our office or something. We have a very small office with cubicles for me and my office mate and I can't see when people walk in they just poke they're head around or over my partition. Sands, No need to appologize. I did do several tearful entries last week, but I also wrote about normal stuff, since I was still a mommy and still working full time except for thursday. Last week was extremely rough, but her funeral was beautiful, she had a long full life and did not suffer in the end. She did get to meet her great-granddaughter who was a total joy in life. While I wish they had been able to have more time together, I am also glad that she was not sick and incapcitated. She lived in her own home until 2 weeks before she died. It was a good thing but I miss her terribly. I no longer have any grandparents and it just seems strange. Thanks again! Have fun party planning! R

Sands, No my dad takes care of her highness! My mom's mom is 91 and helped take care of me and is one of my favorite people in the world. She absolutely adores my daughter. But her heart is 91 years old too and all the work its done is taking its toll. The valves have worn out and while that would be operable it would kill my grandmother to do the operation. They think eventually she isn't going to wake up one morning. I'm taking it very well right now, I'll be a wreck when it happens. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers, I pray that she lives long enough for my daughter to have lasting memories of her.

Thanks for the notes. I was being a drama queen on Friday. The swimsuit thing is not as bad as I originally thought it was. I am working on doing better with diet and exercise and drinking and so on. I just have a lot of changes to make and it's hard to make them all at the same time. It's also hard because this is the first time in my life that I have ever had to worry about weight. i love the photos!! ( just had to say that) when my son was 1 year old and we went to get his photo taken we tried to make him sit naked in this old washbowl...with fake foam....and a mug with water next to him...we had seen photos of it before...and the kids were sooo cute.....but he totally refused to even get near it.....so we had to give it up...oh well.....kids tend to have a mind of their own.....and parents tend to have some stupid ideas some times....( it would have been lovely photos though)

yep.....from the age of 3 we get to go to the dentist once a year......its fun really..she counts the teeth and you get to chose from a box of tiny toys when you are done... about the biting thing....i dont think your mom should worry too much....i cant really remember if my children have bitten anyone...i have known kids that does though...and we just take them away and tell them not to do it..eventually they realize thats its not a very nice thing to do.

Guestbook not working - Sandy 'G' went through the biting faze too - i think most children do as a form of frustration at not being able to express themselves fully and also that they dont really understand how much it can hurt! The way it was solved with 'G' though is that one time she bit her mummy and her mummy bit her back. Shock is the look that came over her face, then tears, but after that no more biting. I think it's the only way to get them to understand x

Whitehall, actually Twin Lakes and Blue Lake Township in western Michigan. I attended and then worked at a summer camp there since I was really young. I still have a lot of friends from the area and always try to go up at least once during the camp season to see everyone.

Hi there. In reply to your mommy's question: Being an only child has it's ups and downs... I wasn't lonely when I was younger; if my friends couldn't come over to play or whatnot, I'd be perfectly content just playing with my stuffed animals. I would read to them and teach them songs, lol. My parents spoiled me a lot when I was younger. Because of that, I think, I get easily frustrated when things don't go my way... But overall, I don't think I'm missing anything by not having siblings.

Thanks for the note, Cassie! ;) With regard to your Mum's question, that depends mostly on the child and the available teachers. From very very early (your age and even younger), children can be encouraged to do things like clap the beat to songs. Keeping the beat is very valuable and the sooner it's learned, the sooner it becomes instinctive rather than something you have to think about. As a child begins to show the ability to talk and sing, you can sing with them a lot and encourage them to learn to hear the melody truly and carry it with and without the music. I started learning piano when I was almost ten, but I'd been learning recorder at primary school since I was seven. I think that, if the child enjoys music and is reasonably bright, around seven is a good age to start proper lessons involving reading music and and an instrument. You can try a child earlier if they seem keen. The final thing is that you need to have a good teacher, one that understands that a seven-year-old needs things broken down easily and doesn't always have a long attention span, but knows how to keep the lessons fun and not scary. I hope this helped - and wasn't too rambly! *g* (you could hardly have asked a question closer to my heart!!)

update April 6, 2020: Sorry, we just had 8+ hours downtime due to a server problem. Restoring from backups took soooo long, but everything is back and no data was lost. Ay yay yay! Anyhow, hope everyone is well with the virus stuff.
