Whatever became of you?
from dangerspouse :
Hey, you found your way back! So...have you given up WP, then? Or are you double posting, like I do?
from raven72d :
03 Feb. 19 --- welcome back!
from imalex :
Thank you. We're all trying to heal from it in our own way. Knowing my Uncle, he'd want us to embrace everything in life with an open heart just as he did. I'll miss him.
from melodymetuka :
I have quite a few snood patterns if you are interested. I really enjoy them, both making and wearing
from jackthripper :
*warm hugs* I am so sorry that so much time has passed. I hope life has been kind to you, sweet Elgan.
from raven72d :
"son-in-common-law" is a brilliant formulation.
from imalex :
Thank You!
from melodymetuka :
I am a member of Ravelry but I rarely go there. I get my knitting connection from Knitting Paradise for the most part. It's just sort of worked out that way. I'm sorry, btw, if my responding to Linda in any way makes your life harder. I never can tell what will be the fall-out of me sticking my foot in.
from melodymetuka :
I've been reading your blog since you added me as a favourite. Didn't really know what to say, but I am enjoying getting to know you. So sorry for your loss. And again, nice to meet you. :-)
from melodymetuka :
Nice to meet you, and thank you for adding me as a favourite.
from imalex :
I do too. Thanks for the note :)
from julymalaise :
Just stopping to say hello and see how you are doing! :)
from julymalaise :
Please do post more pictures if you are making more hats! And I would so love to knit!! But I am taking pottery classes... and it is fun!!
from julymalaise :
OOOOH!!! What a lovely hat!!
from raven72d :
I will be visiting there--- and I hope you'll leave a comment here from time to time.
from raven72d :
You'll be missed here...
from puresunsh1ne :
Thank you. She had other bridesmaids, and I'm sure one of them dealt with all the legal stuff... her daughter wouldn't have been pleased to have known that however! She took her responsibilities very seriously. ;)
from julymalaise :
Thanks for the note!!
from julymalaise :
Hey, how do you redirect your diary like that?
from jaysthoughts :
I remember you from so long ago that we used to talk on diaryland chat. :) I miss that chat..
from biggoomba :
hi elgan i see you are still grilling salmon and attending concerts = thanks for the hello, I am well and busy in the starving artists scene. I am still in contact with some of the old chatters from Dland on other networks..I just use Dland as a dump for bits of ideas and such wordsie stuff as thatthese days. Hope you and your family are well and prospering in this wonderful world of change and adventure. bggmb, the one and only
from greenteacup :
I love your kind words, it means a lot. :) Thank you! xxx
from greenteacup :
thank you :) :) xx
from deareddie :
I'd like to be your FB friend, but don't want to infringe... if that would suit you.
from deareddie :
I miss you here. But you will always be a sweet and peaceful part of me. A bientot, ma chere.
from greenteacup :
Yeah that's true, I have been looking into that for either next year or the year after. I've probably just been in the wrong mood for everything recently, it'll probably pass. Thanks for all your help and comments :)xx
from greenteacup :
It feels like the end of an era. This is heartbreaking! xxxx
from cocoabean :
Would you mind sending me your email? There are some tricks for the statcounter on wordpress, drkchoclover at gmail. Thanks!
from julymalaise :
Aww...you're welcome. I'm glad you liked it. Things will be better soon, I know it.
from julymalaise :
I hope you feel better, elgan!
from greenteacup :
Thank you so much :) I hope you enjoyed Christmas! xxx
from julymalaise :
Seems like you had a good halloween!
from julymalaise :
It has been raining here too, a lot though. I like rain, especially in autumn! Happy Halloween!
from julymalaise :
That sucks you ripped your skirt.
from julymalaise :
I love autumn so much, it's my favorite year! I'm going to sound poetic as I say this, but I think fall is the time where we relax and think about wandering thoughts that come across our minds in a lovely, quiet day. Okay, there goes that. Yeah, this summer wasn't really hot, which is good and bad. Good that I was not complaining about how hot I was. Bad because I like the sticky weather a bit. Lovely pictures you took!
from greenteacup :
Thank you :), everything turned out being pretty fun looking back on it. I love your knitting, I used to know it basically so I can't imagine how difficult it is doing it properly. Hope you're well :). xxx
from teranika :
Yeah, we couldn't find a family doctor for a loong time, but we've been very lucky with specialists. And actually, I haven't found the taxes to be THAT much higher, especially given the quality of the infrastructure that they pay for (public transportation, roads, bike routes). Guess that's what happens when your taxes aren't going to the military-industrial complex...
from julymalaise :
That is truly amazing about your mother playing the piano, I just love it! Have fun on your trip!!! Take care!
from julymalaise :
Aww.. Elgan, I was really glad you updated, I really like reading your words, they are too awersome for words, hahahah. Well, was that a picture of your mother playing the piano? And I heard that movie "Julie and Julia." was real good, I would love to see that movie. Well, take care, elgan. Good-bye.
from julymalaise :
Ah... elgan, just wanted to let you know that I enjoy reading your diary a lot...and I hope you DO update more because a lot of people on diaryland really do love you.
from xxholding-on :
hi i saw you were online and i really wanted the vote from diaryland towards a contest i joined. It's a coach marketing contest and i need as many votes as i can get, please help! http://www.brickfish.com/Pages/PhotosAlbums/PhotoView.aspx?picid=975395_34070543&pid=2767347&scid=452
from julymalaise :
You're welcome and I don't mind. =)
from julymalaise :
Wow, it looks like it rains a lot wherever you are. We don't get that much rain here in PA, but when we do in the summertime, it accompanied by thunder and lighting, so it sucks because I hate that. Just stopping by to say Hi, I guess.
from greenteacup :
Haha, thank you- I'll keep that in mind. I've been thinking of looking up more about Canada also. I'd like to live somewhere other than England one day.
from greenteacup :
Thank you :) here's always hoping for the best, for you too xx
from uglydove :
Hehe, surprised? Yes, it is July 16h, '09. And I haven't been under this name in years. I am thinking of seriously taking your advice of writing again. I do miss it, if I'm honest. You're gone for the weekend and probably won't see this until Monday night or Tues, and who knows what will have happened in my world by then! -love always, dove.
from teranika :
Elgan - this suggestion may not be for you, and it probably falls under the category of TMI...I also experienced bleeding, and the only stuff that helped was this: http://www.preseed.com/. It's rather expensive and technically its purpose is to be sperm-friendly while trying to conceive, but it is the best stuff I've ever used - I still use it. I especially used it after birth and while breast-feeding when my body behaved as if I were menopausal. I'm guessing that you have tried several options already, but just in case....
from greenteacup :
I hope you feel better soon. :) All the best xxx
from julymalaise :
Dear Miss. Elgan, I really hope that you do feel better and I wish you the best on this golorious day. -h.
from greenteacup :
I think I used to spend way too much time in the chat. I don't know how many users that used it are still around. Would be exciting to see it again. xx
from eggsaucted :
Oh she loves doing any and every workbook she can get her hands on the problem is that she's wanting to the workbooks several grade levels above where she is in school and hasn't been taught the concepts yet. I took a math for elementary school teachers course about 13 years ago and can't find my old textbook, but I got in touch with my instructor and ordered a copy of the book, so now I can give her the background she needs to tackle the math she wants to do.
from julymalaise :
There...there...elgan, I gave you some sunshine so all of the rain clouds can go away, lol.
from julymalaise :
Okay, great. Thank you, and like I said, you may add me, I don't mind either. Your username is cool! And so if your diary!
from julymalaise :
You're welcome, may I add you? add me too, only if you want.
from julymalaise :
Hello, just checking out your diary, it is very cool.
from empezar :
thank you so so much for the comment, and for adding me as a favorite. it made my evening to hear this! i sometimes wonder what the point is in writing online, but your finding my diary (and feeling some resonance from it)is an example of why it is worth sharing our words--our stories. i look forward to reading your diary, too! warmest thoughts, siri
from coldandgray :
I have packed away all of Finn's baby / pre-toddler clothes EXCEPT the Hadley stuff from you. He can still just squeeze into them as I desperately try & hold on to his babyhood.
from deareddie :
With my body's current unpredictability, I am ever grateful to be in a world with advanced feminine hygine products and pain relievers. *cheeky grin* It's so nice to "see" you again, dear. :)
from novelepitome :
Hahaha, the matronly sweetheart as ever. I'm sorry, I forgot that my diary gives no indication as to who on earth I am. I just finally parted ways with my old diary, hitsumei883. Felt it was time for a fresh start. =D In any case, I added you as a favorite on my new diary, hence the subscription. I hope I've cleared the matter some.
from teranika :
Alas! we will be in Europe from 21 April until 1 June! I hope that you have a wonderful trip out here, though. Spring can be very pretty if it decides not to rain.
from coldandgray :
Hm, nobodies comments are working today it seems. As much as I am excited & happy for your vacation, I am equally jealous. HAVE FUN!
from meliaxox :
hello. im not sure if the name "melia" rings any bells, but i used to talk to you on a daily basis. i'd enjoy chatting again : )
from greenteacup :
I'm glad you enjoyed your birthday :). xxx
from honeychic28 :
Oh, that's hilarious! I would love to see your neighbor's face everytime you call his cat Suzie. =]
from honeychic28 :
Who's Suzie? =]
from greenteacup :
Happy new year, as well :). I hope 2009 will be a great year for you xxx
from greenteacup :
Merry Christmas El :) xxxx
from greenteacup :
Thank you :D
from greenteacup :
I always tend to rely on your for film reviews, so that I know if something is worth watching or not. Thank you :D xx
from ladybug-red :
I cannot find your e-mail. Send me one at secoora(at)gmail(dot)com and I will send my password and address for a CD.
from teranika :
Yes, we don't do it, either - a TV is not a pacifier. But watching the video WITH her turned out to be quite a bit of fun. Rather than staring slack-jawed at the screen, she bounced and chattered and waved her arms and pointed. And then when she got bored we turned it off.
from greenteacup :
Thank you :) oh, and I just wanted to say how much I love the way you write. I hope that everything is alright. xxxx
from goodluckgold :
Hello Miss Elgan love your profile very artistic lolz
from greenteacup :
Thanks el, that means so much. And I really hope that it works out best for you with your mum. All the best :) xxxx
from ladybug-red :
Hiya sweetie - I'm back! Stop it for tea and crumpets.
from teranika :
Good idea to travel prepared with earplugs. We went to Canada Place and nearly left in the first 30 seconds from the noise. I guess my generation is just deaf.
from teranika :
Yes! We see the downtown fireworks from our front porch. (Which is good, because I'm not so excited about being in a crowd of thousands of people...)
from elliestuff :
You're so good with your descriptions..I do hope you stay strong through it all.
from meek-rage :
Ha, it's good to see people who aren't going crazy over a two and a half hour movie made out of a half hour show that aired for too many years. I tried to get into it because my good friend was a fan. As I watched it, I understood the commentary about all the men and I thought it was funny. Then it occurred to me that I'm under age twenty and she's over thirty. What?! If I'm still that confused about men by that time, I'm in trouble. That's a lot of years of wasted dating experience. I also remembered that my friend has been single forever, too. Not exactly the example I'd like to follow, or the entertainment I'd like to revel in.
from teranika :
thanks, i hadn't heard of using grapes - I will use that trick when she is older. we've got several teething toys that have water, but it seems that they are all meant for older babies. right now I've found that an ice cold wet cloth wrapped around my pinkie has been the best.
from midnightrum :
Yes, it has been a long time. It goes well. I'll be heading off to college on a full tuition scholarship here in just a few short months. I think that's about all that's worth mentioning, but it's a start.
from midnightrum :
Elgan, I hope you didn't try to buy more than four 20-lb bags of rice at Costco, you know, with the rice shortage and all.
from raven72d :
And what are you reading these days?
from greenteacup :
Thank you! Except I'm so worried about how it's going to fade and wash out eventually, plus I hope it doesn't start to look a bit dry. Have a safe trip! xxxx
from biggoomba :
hi Elgan- its your chat room nemisis > i saw your name on the Dland living souls list and decided to say hello-- I see you are swamped with family matters--good luck on all that, remember theres a blender for everybody- love is for this life so get it while you can- do what you know is right---chat looks like its bridge out forever at this rate.. thats a free site for you, no money back-- regards Biggoomba
from coldandgray :
OOps, are your comments now kaput? Sorry your day was the poops.
from clockworkcat :
Hey el! Just to let you know your name is in the users online now box, which makes you actually famous. xXx
from coldandgray :
My latest posted photos come via photo bucket. Thank you for the suggestion, this will save me from having to do some kind of massive transfer to another site for a little while.
from teranika :
Thanks for letting me know about the GICs - we were thinking about fixed term investments as well, but it's useful to hear that other folks were not so taken with the restrictions that came with the RESP (and why do I always want to finish that with the needed ECT?).
from coldandgray :
He has really got us between a rock and a hard place.
from coldandgray :
You are right that I can use photo bucket for future photo hosting or just move to the web address I have waiting for me at wordpress. One conundrum I have is the thousands of photos I have on Diaryland that would be impossible to transfer. if i don't pay up as a gold member, POOF! They are gone from all the old posts. WAA! I guess I am just going to have to "let go".
from coldandgray :
That is funny, I went with wordpress, too. The tech support here SUCKS! They purposely ignore me. I have left dozens of support requests. I have even made banners trying to get their attention and left comments on Andrew's personal site! It is appalling. I hate to leave, but it is dumb of me to pay money to stay here when they don't want me...that said, I better update!
from coldandgray :
ha ha! My threat paid off, Andrew is addressing the SPAM. I just finished setting up a new site, too! I think I am still moving when my membership runs out in a few months...
from coldandgray :
hey woman! I am back at work (boo hoo) and therefore back on the internet. I am looking forward to catching up with you. Do you get a lot of SPAM in your comments? I get tons. I am unhappy with Andrew and am thinking of leaving Dland for greener pastures.
from krugerpak007 :
Thank you El, trying to be strong and to get over this. Hope you are having a good week. x
from giftofflesh :
It's been a while. I'm unlocked now. Perhaps I'll update you shortly...
from spacemuppet :
Thanks for the note, Elgan. Diaryland (supposedly) emailed the password--if it doesn't send, drop me another note and I'll send it directly. Cheers.
from greenteacup :
I always get the feeling that they already know about my blogs, if something like that is mentioned. I've always wished that I didn't give out any information to my friends when I first started here, otherwise I'd be a lot more open. I don't think I'd ever lock my diary though, because I'd feel really suspicious. I think I did once though.
from teranika :
Now THAT was funny! I told K and he thought it sounded like a great pickup line. Wonder how you would spin steel wool..
from tcklyrpharsn :
Hey! I was just catching up on entries (didn't read while I was in Mexico) and saw the anniversary wishes. Thanks, El! We had a fabulous meal in Oaxaca with good friends and lots of wine, which is as it should be.
from greenteacup :
I think that's the most exciting Christmas tree, ever.
from teranika :
sounds lovely! don't think I'll make it for dinner, but perhaps I'll drop by and join you in the library a little later for a cuppa tea...
from teranika :
Except that she's from Montreal.
from greenteacup :
Haha, thanks. :] I hope that you had fun away, looks like it already from the single photograph. xxx
from teranika :
I'm glad to hear that there is at least one musical dedication to "Pigeons and Crows" out there! I almost talked about the pigeons, too - because they also have a flying club and fly in circles over our neighborhood from time to time (like right now).
from deathnote17 :
I love the one about your mother.i want to chat w/ you more.our nice.oh and i need ur real name.please read my diary sometime.good story.=)
from teranika :
I was thinking about your conspiracy entry this weekend, too - it reminded me of feeling completely downtrodden after last semester's teaching. I wonder if there is a teaching workshop for musical instructors that is similar to the one I attend last summer. The workshop helped a LOT - it reaffirmed that I do some things well; it pointed out some skills I could improve (and how to do improve them); it built my confidence by providing some outside validation. Also, since most of the participants were students themselves, I had a chance to ask them directly why certain approaches did or did not work for them. Obviously these types of workshops aren't for everyone, but it was just an idea I thought you might consider - it could be useful to have some outside validation of your worth, for the next time you encounter teaching assignments.
from teranika :
Is it your first snow? I always get all excited with the first one. We had snow on the Mountain, too - but actually this time I was more worried about sliding down to my office in one piece!
from harri3tspy :
hilarious!
from teranika :
Actually - I just had one other thought on the border crossing guards, too. My first thought when we crossed this weekend was that we had found an office that had a good manager. It seems to me that managers can make all the difference in whether or not people hate their jobs - these guys all just looked pretty happy.
from teranika :
Scoopers drive me nuts, too. And once they're in your ear - ACK! It's like a bad jingle from television or radio, you can't get rid of the sound!!!!!
from teranika :
Yes, the Detroit/Windsor crossing - although packed - was still a positive experience in 2006 -the US border guard spoke to us in fluent German. But when you have a situation like K's - where the visa system screwed up and wound up putting an unintentional black mark on his record - they can really jerk you around whether they are friendly or not. And the trouble with border crossings is that they CAN be bad (and 50% of our crossings were), and you are dealing with people who have ultimate power to keep you out of a country, especially in K's case. In the case of the USA, 80% of the personnel manning the US border since 2001 are new employees, and the majority of the folks with seniority were promoted (we've looked into these stats!). That means that the majority of the time, you are subject to the whims of someone who isn't particularly familiar with the rules. So I wouldn't be surprised to learn that even the friendly Detroit/Windsor crossing has changed.
from sundaygirl :
thanks, i feel slightly better about it now! i think that's what I needed to hear!
from meli90 :
eLLo el. its Melia just made a new account if you forgot who i am, im melia5553 how have you been?
from coldandgray :
I just wrote a comment on your site bitching about d'land & it would not post. haha. THANKS ANDREW!!!
from coldandgray :
Oh Elgan, that poem was so intense. I hope you are doing OK during this emotional point in time. Thinking of you.
from harri3tspy :
Humph. Diaryland won't let me comment. First it told me your supergold membership had expired, then it said I was a spammer. In any case, it sounds like a lovely weekend, regardless of the weather (which will no doubt make it more memorable!). Good luck seeing off the boy. I get sad thinking about that moment and I've still got 12 years to go.
from greenteacup :
Aha, thank you so much. It was one of the first times that I actually worked hard to achieve something and I'm glad that I have what I need to get into college. I hope that you're well. xxx
from greenteacup :
Haha, you shouldn't have felt bad anyway. It's strange to see your photographs of places so close to home, especially Richmond Station and the Thames, as well as Central London. They've always been daily-basis types of places for me. I hope you had a great time on holiday :) xxx
from ladybug-red :
I hope you are having a great vacation. I came to post my change of address. Please, please, please come see me. Yellowladybug.com
from dandlioneyes :
Have a great two-week adventure! "See" you when you get back!
from greenteacup :
I don't understand the weather at all, or what's causing all of the rain. But when it's like this I feel compelled to stay inside because I can't stand getting wet at all. Almost like a cat. Oh, and regarding your Facebook problems, I love your ability to bite back. You've never stopped being amazing, haha. xxx
from giftofflesh :
Damn where are you? :((
from comfuzzled :
Hi there! This is just a friendly reminder letting you know that you've been nominated for Greatest Documented Life at the Second Annual Comfuzzled Awards hosted by Morticon's Cave! The voting will take place on July 29th. Until then we encourage you to let your friends know to vote for you! Visit our homepage to pick up a banner for your site!
from teranika :
Do you remember Titanic the Musical? I heard that it received excellent reviews, but I also never went (same with the movie - never seen it), for the same reason you cited. You have a pretty good idea that the boat is going to sink.. I had a similar issue with The English Patient. Now I think I'd like to see the Titanic Musical - just to see how someone actually writes a musical about a sinking ship.
from rs536-2000 :
great comment--thanks!
from pink-circle :
*The Circle of the Phoenix* Hi, I'm Phoenix, and I'd like to personally invite you to join The Circle; a writers' and artists' group for diaryland members. It's a public journal, so that anyone can post to it, but members have profiles on the site, as well as critiques, and once promoted to Apprentice have buttons to show off their achievements on their site. I hope you don't take this as spam, you can just delete this message if you're not interested, but if you are, please visit our welcome page: http://pink-circle.diaryland.com/welcome3.html -- Thanks for your time -- Atara Phoenix
from teranika :
The colleague was a friend from Germany and this was so completely unexpected from a woman who seemed to live life to the fullest. It is always a shock that someone so cheerful could harbor such pain without the world seeing it (even her husband was surprised). As for the bra size - you jest, no? You've met me..think of all of the deprived, flat-chested women in the world, and meanwhile I've become Breastzilla. The lord just keeps on givin'.
from harri3tspy :
I don't mind notes, actually. I just have to remember to start here instead of trying the comments. But I wholeheartedly support a mass migration to wordpress. It's not perfect -- but an awful lot of things work better. And tech support is unbelievably fast and friendly. The only thing I find annoying is the lack of template control.
from harri3tspy :
Here is what happens when I try to use your comments (and I'm not trying this time so you don't get duplicates!). I post once. I get a message saying that your supergold membership has lapsed and therefore I cannot leave a comment. I refuse to take this at face value. I try to post again. I am told that I am a spammer and I cannot leave a comment. I give up and go to your notes. I have had this problem with other people as well, but I almost always have it with you in particular (not that I'm blaming you for that!). I'm not sure why that would be. I suppose it could have something to do with the time of day. In any case, I'll try not to double post!
from harri3tspy :
[Your comments are broken at the moment so I'm posting here instead] I used to have a notecard with pretty much the exact same theory of lost socks on it. There was a picture of the socks being sucked into a black hole in the back of a washer or dryer with the caption: "Where your lost socks have gone." Inside, it said, "and they're having a marvelous time."
from blighty :
oh my goodness I just reread that. I in NO WAY meant to say that you had shortcomings as a parent - it was a general comment that did not come out at all. I still haven't gotten used to expressing myself well in these notes. Sorry.
from blighty :
Hello and thank you for your note. It is always reassuring to hear that other children survive and even thrive, in spite of their parents' shortcomings. As you say, it is painful to think that they will go through the same things that I did, but I hope that they will have an easier time.
from harri3tspy :
I definitely was feeling the same way and it's why I waited as long as I did to leave diaryland. I think one of the reasons comments/notes/guestbook entries slowed to a trickle is that none of them has been working reliably since well before the diaryland slowdown. And now it takes forever to post. I've tried to leave you a couple of messages in the last few weeks but have had to give up because it has taiken more than 20 minutes to get through. At that point, it doesn't feel like a conversation anymore, if you know what I mean. Even now, I've been waiting here for ten minutes and it's still letting me type in the little box. When will my comment ever post?? Answer: after 20 minutes. It won't. Let's try notes.
from raven72d :
un/pw raven72d/capybara... i hope you'll keep reading...and tell me what your own summer plans are...
from raven72d :
And how have *you* been?
from rs536-2000 :
She wishes she looked as good as you. Not as delicate looking or attractive by far based on your vacation photos.
from greenteacup :
I wanted to say that I really liked your idea of Diaryland being like a neighbourhood. Even though it was a good while back, considering you update like a machine. :] Anyway, I thought it was really sweet. I hope that everything is alright. xx
from coldandgray :
Oh my goodness, those tapes of your dad singing for your kids sound so special. I hope you can find them, not only for you & your kids, but for your future grandchildren.
from giftofflesh :
I don't do the IMs anymore... how's plain ol' e-mail? [email protected]
from giftofflesh :
PS I <3 you.
from giftofflesh :
Two things...One: (Please) Read my latest entry. Two: HELP ME!
from zuzus-petals :
Really? I have a xanga site that I rarely (if ever) post on... I only keep it so I can easily leave comments to other xanga users. I've never entered the code for apostrophe's etc., and I've never got the stupid symbols there. Wierd. And if you hit the "back" button and review any of my previous entried (even YESTERDAYS) entry, you'll notice the stupid symbols disapear.. and if you hit "forth" to todays entry, the stupid sympbols disappear too. Why is that.. I mean, if I'm not changing the code/text.. which I am not... what fixed it if it's really a problem with the text/code? -Zuzu
from zuzus-petals :
Thanks Elgan, except that I don't have to do this on any other blog I post to and I used to not have use HTML tags for punctuation at Diaryland either. I'm not looking for a long dash... just a dash. And if you hit the "back button" and then the "forth" button, all those stupid symbols disappear and all previous entries don't have that symbol... so it stops making sense that it has to do with those tags. Why aren't they relevent for previous entries.. the code didn't change one iota.
from rs536-2000 :
Good question. I did chat with a woman at the last one who seemed very nice. During the break, women chat with each other. I think a lot of people do that; it's a relief from the dating mess.
from ivyparker :
Happy Easter! Silly question, but since you are in Canada do you watch Marc-Andre Grodin in anything?
from teranika :
Thanks! And Happy Easter to you! I hope you are enjoying a day off.
from rs536-2000 :
Thanks--my appetitie for bread and pizza increases substantially this week. I can't imagine having to observe this holiday fully. Hope you had a good one also.

people who sing are angels i listen to my common favourites Kate Bush Kitty Wells Grace Slick odd variant music touches the soul in so many ways i am reminded of the vast cathedral structures and caves the ancients must have sung in We have singers arriving here all the time but its beyond my wallet to purchase a ticket and sit in a live performance of talent You have an amazing gift Elgan i still remember that sound clip you made well must be going now ..O..

yes. I know. I've lived in several countries where I've had to deal with this spelling thing, and in my own blog I figure I have a choice write my own language. welcome back by the way - glad you had a good trip and I hope that your cold is better soon.

Remember me? Guess what? I got a new job--Deputy Tax Collector. Yay me. Miss you bunches. --Michelle

Thanks. Got it, and no apologies necessary. I figured that I had just misunderstood your meaning. This is the danger with written notes and comments - their meaning can be obscured by necessary brevity and those standardized fonts. The best that the reader can do is give friends the benefit of the doubt - they wouldn't really MEAN what that sounded like to me, would they? But your comment about how different your university setting is enlightening. Yes, I can understand your looking outside of your work environment! In my case, I have not even SEEN a member of my department since last Wednesday, and that includes all of my times walking through the halls in their building. So I am at the stage of building ANY kind of relationship - professional or personal. This is such a stark contrast to Dutchess where colleagues walked in and out of offices chatting (for better or worse!).

I didn't think it would be hard prior to the day but it turned out harder than I expected. So much love down the drain, but it was a good learning experience and I think we will both come out of it better and stronger. I'm still not sure why the entries would make you cry though.

I found your thoughts very interesting (it seems to have been a frustrating teaching day...). I have been trying very hard to encourage my friend with three kids (yes, blighty) to get back in there. I completely understand when she says that she's too busy. But I am nervous when she sounds as if she feels trapped by her life on one hand, and as if she feels that she is no longer *good* at anything...I just hope that in her case, *insecurity* doesn't stop her from doing that masters or trying for that part time job.
from time2 :
haha, oh El, it's all very innocent *wink* I don't know how that happens, it just seems to happen. I guess i've never had a problem finding women, just finding good ones!!!
from ladybug-red :
Thanks so much for the note. I have also found it helpful making friends here and keeping up with the younger crowd.
from time2 :
Thanks El :)
from teranika :
oh, and I think I'll open up a game of spider solitaire now...
from teranika :
add a glass of red wine to that Sunday and I'm with ya!
from ladybug-red :
What a great story! I have always thought of you as an excellent storyteller but this was particularly poignant. Well done!

I just haven't had a chance to read it yet -- will comment when AJ goes back to school on Tuesday!

Thanks for your note. Unfortunately, your great suggestions probably don't apply since I had a full hysterectomy over a year ago. I wouldn't be surprised however, if the radical hormonal changes over the past year haven't had some impact.

Coolio.. I deleted your note from my notes page so your email address wasn't accessible to spammers! THANK YOU! - Zuzu

Indeed you have hit the nail on the head, it's also that over the last five years, I truly cared about him regardless of the state of our relationship and I know him inside and out. Despite his virtually unforgivable behavior, I still care about him and know that all of it is effecting him too. I probably tolerate it better because he's the father of my child, and because every single time I look at her highness I I'm reminded of that fact that fighting with him hurts her too and it is much easier to forgive and overlook when I keep her in mind.
from ladybug-red :
I'm back. I'm trying to get my site set back up and and entry put together but I will be in touch soon. I've missed you!
from dandlioneyes :

I got a job. I'm a Deli Clerk at a local grocery store. *shrugs* OH well. I doubt I'll be back anymore. For all i know you've forgotten about me.
from teranika :
ugh. That sounds so familiar - that is, the trend to treat universities as if they are an education industry. And you really don't need the added stress of thinking about such things!
from uglydove :
El, a random I love you oodles! Have a good day, yo.
