Thank you for stopping by and giving me some advise. I am going to try to update today with some further information that I gained last night that I didn't have the day before. I also will check out the book...however my issue is that I have PCOS. I had surgery and had one ovary removed...the other drilled to allow it to work properly. My next dr's appointment is on Dec 29th where I'll learn my ultimate fate most likely. Good luck to you and B in your quest....I certainly feel that while I would love to have a child with Rick and mostly because he has none....I am lucky because I have children and can honestly say I would give up any chance of my having another so someone without any children can have their own child. And yes...yes I would. Ok..going to go update my diary now.

Hey sweetheart - I forgot to ask you for a password after you discovered the radio-station person reading. If you don't mind dropping it to me in a note, I promise I'll delete it pronto - I miss you!
from bathtubmary :
hey, thanks! i have a public literary blog elsewhere and if you'd like the address please shoot me an email. so nice to hear from you. xoxo, d
from neko-carre :
Hey, Scout! Got your guestbook message. I'll send you an email on Friday. Luvs! Neko
from nuclearlieut :
Happy wedding!!!!!!! I don't know if this has happened to everybody, but I can't access your diary (it just shows a blank page)... have I been banned?? I need to know the wedding details!!! Ave xo
from nuclearlieut :
Yeah, it could be pretty hot & humid. Although, last time I was there over an entire summer was back in 2000, and they had a heat-wave (over 90F for weeks on end)! Is this your honeymoon?
from somthin :
July should be hot and humid -- meaning, ick. And I have been to Kamloop and have a bumper sticker to prove it! Weee!
from somthin :
Some years back a friend booked a night of bands playing guilty pleasures. We played, Yummy Yummy Yummy (forgot the name of the group), Guitar Man (by uh, forgot again) and (my choice) The Night Chicago Died, By Paper Lace. I loved it as a kid and when learning it as an adult I realized that there were some very catchy dynamics that I still respected. However, after rehearsing it a couple of times it got so stuck in my head that it became a real problem. I told the others in the band and they ALL had the same problem. They cursed me for ever mentioning it. We had laughed about sticking it in our normal set but after the GP night we never spoke of it again. Even now I fear to hum even one bar. I'd like to add that sharing guilty pleasures in the live format was an exceptionally fun thing especially when you knew and respected the other musicians or groups. You'd be very surprised what scabby old punks will pull out. As far as wedding march music I might look through the book of Hank, something upbeat and a little goofy might be nice. He's got a couple.
from somthin :
I am very pleased for the two of you. Best best best!
from neko-carre :
Oh my gosh! Congrats!!!! Right around the corner too! How exciting! *Girly squeal!*
from somthin :
PS: Sorry about your government. Sorry about mine too. Boy am I ever.
from somthin :
hey dear, yes, well, our pals Cher and Babs could certainly use a bit of Jimmy JJ in their lives to straighten them out, however, I've already let the local Mafia take him away -- they know what's best for getting rid of bodies. Speaking of sending things to celebs, uh, someday I should tell you what I sent to John Cougar M... It's quite a story and one that I cannot share in such a public forum. Nothing scary however, just silly. Hope you're well!
from oh-sweet-pea :
i too was a fan of cretian. i hate harper and i fear for what could happen.
from nuclearlieut :
I'm not ashamed to vote NDP! They're (unfortunately) the closest to representing what's important to me. I say "unfortunately", because I know they don't have chance, AND because I'm sure they wouldn't know what to do with power if they had it!! Oh well... lets all bend over for the f@$%ing PC! What exactly do they mean by "Progressive" anyways???? Rant over.
from somthin :
Howlin' Wolf Howlin' Wolf Howlin' Wolf. There I said it. The man made me play punk rock. He's country and blues and pretty tough too. Good stinger material maybe? Woo-hoooo!
from radiokat :
i didn't know that you had to go into surgery, i have been gone for a while. i'm glad that you're alright and everything is well. <3 kat

Could I have your new password?
from neko-carre :
Hey, Scout. I'm worried about you. Email me and let me know what's up and how you are.
from novel-t :
I think you may be barking up the wrong tree there... I can't ever recall a time that I've talked about diary entries with Glenn...that would be kind of weird. Sorry if someone's doing that.
from neko-carre :
Hi! I sent you an email. I re-need your password.
from trulypoetic :
Oh strange that you're msg'n me. I just got caught up on your diary. I've been behind and have some free time tonight. I was just thinking "awwww this is all so sweet....she sounds so happy." I almost said it and didn't want to be a dork. And now I have justifiable cause to be dorky. I am ok....it appears that we're too far North to get the worst of things. I'm more so worried about some people/friends I have at work that live in Sarasota.
from snideblonde :
I think the Sock lives in Ottawa doesn't he? Anyway, does he even keep a diary anymore?
from goodsandwich :
Girl I need the password again! My computer ate all its cookies. Any chance you'll leave it in my notes where I promise it will be deleted instantly? Hope all is well!
from somthin :
Did you ever come up with a band name? I was listening to some Bill Monroe recently and should have had him on my list ... man, where would you start with those harmonies and that radical mandolin?! I lived in The South when he died -- just started listening to bluegrass only to have the king leave at the same time... Oh, Boy, can you tell I'm drinking coffee?
from somthin :
I saw your list and have been thinking about my fave 6 while I've been installing this show ... since Saturday last. I'll see what I can do. Thanks for the Colleen update, if you should ever see her tell her hi from me. Take care.
from somthin :
Too bad about Night Gallery ... it's odd though since I just had an entry with photos from there a couple days ago ... found some olde pix. Wave bye bye to it for me!
from nuclearlieut :
Thanks scout!
from somthin :
For the last two years Famous Teva and I have been involved in her Father's decline and have seen some moments such as you've described where nurses and doctors simply write people off. It's impossible to put into words how it makes one feel -- disturbed doesn't touch it. But there has also been numerous really "above and beyond" people who've really impressed me -- it seems that you have to hunt around and keep your eye on them for a while to make certain of the treatment your loved one is getting. One time we actually bumped into this nurse from one place visiting her father in another hospital -- she liked him so much she'd come over on her day off. It made me all teary... anyhow, I wish you and everyone out there the best. ON an unrelated bit of biz, I came across some funny names this weekend: King Biscuit Hour (an old blues radio program from the 40s or 50's) and, The Pigiron Club (speakeasy in Dashiell Hammett book). Well, I wouldn't maybe go with Pig anything but I thought I'd include it cause I like the sound of it. Best.
from novel-t :
I know....Blueshammer
from novel-t :
how about The Novelties... I'll still try to think of something a little more original.
from somthin :
How about, The Scoutmasters! Heh, well, it certainly doesn't sound like the music you described but it's the best thing I got so far. Good luck -- with the new home too!
from nuclearlieut :
Congrats on your new abode!! NL xo
from novel-t :
Oh my god..! I need your new password. [email protected]

I find it unbelievable that "Christians" find nothing wrong with wearing a straight pride shirt. I wonder if they'd wear a white pride shirt. This is terrible: http://straightpridewear.com/
from rdhdprincess :
I'm a crybaby too. Just go with it and let it be emotional. It is, after all, and emotional event. You will do great!
from rdhdprincess :
Oh, poor Sue! That is terribly sad.
from novel-t :
I was beat boxing like a demon on stage with Matt Masters and Andy Speracino on friday... I think a couple songs were good, but I think I went a little bit overboard. Anyway, people seemed to like it.
from nuclearlieut :
Sorry about that... I just watched a lot of Oprah...
from nuclearlieut :
Ok. What I've realised over time is that sometimes you just have to learn that as a good person, living one life, you have to do what is best for you. You aren't a cold-blooded person; you have no malice, and you deserve happiness and contentment and success. I think letting R know everything (ie that you are in love and creating a new, exciting future for yourself -- in a determined way, like ripping off a band-aid) will not only lift the huge boulder of guilt off your shoulders, but set him free to get on with his life, as well. Then, possibly down the road he'll then have the option of seeing you and/or loving you for the great person you are, not for being his saviour. Over and over again. Of course, its so easy to say, and admittedly I never knew R that well, but I feel I know you and that you deserve every happy (house-hunting!) moment that comes your way. He makes me angry. Ok, 'nuff said. Ave xo
from rdhdprincess :
Thank you, I think Bella is gorgeous, too. She is the love of my life. I bet it was interesting watching all the school girls preening around your man. I love watching things like that. It sounds weird, I know, but I love watching people!
from rdhdprincess :
Good luck! Have fun house hunting!
from rdhdprincess :
Heh. You don't SEEM old!

from nuclearlieut :
I think Leslie hates me since I suggested in High School that she audition for The Who's "Tommy" when they were in town. I meant it as a compliment, but I think she took it as otherwise...

from novel-t :
anyway, I think you're much prettier than Christ with an F.
from novel-t :
Oh ok... I almost went to see her last time i was in Montreal, but thankfully we saw Ted Leo instead. I've been meaning to email that girl, but i've been hopeing i would just run into her by chance...I'm an idiot and i should email her..thanks
from novel-t :
I have no idea who you're talking about in this last entry and it's driving me nuts. Oh, and what's with born again's and pot cookies...Maybe if they had shrooms in them he would have had a better trip or at least thought that he was our messiah...God...oops...Gosh
from somthin :
Thanks for the well wishings. The girl is at home surrounded by fleurs and pizza and fine teas and cable tv ... she also has some excellent chocolate within reach and some easter candies so she should make it through this. Please continue to take good care of yourself, I'm extremely jealous as I face another working weekend. did you ever get a chance to hear that single I put in your envelope? I only ask because I wonder what it sounds like. No big. cheers.
from neko-carre :
Oh my god, you are sooo sweet for saying that!!! Big smile on my face now. I feel so much better. :-D And it's funny that you asked about Crush's name - I *almost* said in my entry that no, that's not his real name, but it's just as interesting! His parents were hippies. Let me see if I can give you a hint... His first name is the word for "Hey, look up at the clear blue [blank]." And his last name is one I've never heard before.
from rdhdprincess :
Hey, I', glad you left me a note because I did e-mail you. Thanks! I hope you are feeling better soon! I personally think "Galavanting" is a great word, too. My husband has been using "Shenanigans" a lot which I kind of love right now, too. (He's a weirdo.) I'm going to start talking with more interesting words!
from novel-t :
Yeah, she's nice. I had her number, but I need to get a new phone... whenever I put a new number in it, it gets erased after like two days. I think it doesn't want me to make new friends. I think I may get a new one today.
from teachin-usa :
haha! I had to laugh at the Welcome Back Kotter reference. just today at lunch my fourth grade team (we've nicknamed ourselves the sweathogs) named the sweathogs and there in your diary you mention Vinny by name. What are the chances? Wish I had put that in my diary today too- that would be funny. Think I'll do a Diaryland Vinny Bobarino search right now!
from novel-t :
I think I may head on over to the Ship tomorrow afternoon....should be fun.
from neko-carre :
Pinstriped pencil skirt - sounds like something I'd love!
from somthin :
Cool, I'll send the thing. Yes, Mr. El Vez was someone I hung out with some time back, nice bloke. Many of my pals used to play with him. I'm at: [email protected]. And the job thing? I feel good about it but a tad guarded. It's adventure all the same.
from somthin :
Just so you know I just accepted a new job at some fancy gallery here in NYC. Also, since this company is moving many things are coming to light, I found a book of Elvis impersonators and somehow it made me think of Wanda J and that, in turn, lead me to you. My pal El Vez is in there -- which is nice -- as well as other stranger than fiction folks. It's gonna get tossed if you want it. Besides that you should do me one favor and get better.
from teachin-usa :
hi grlscout. Can I read your diary? My email is [email protected] gracias!
from reddirtgirl :
I don't think my mom wanted to encourage the realtor by asking any more questions, but she got the impression they were from India. She told me she cleaned the house extra-hard.
from somthin :
Thanks for the continued support, my fine friend. Things are just so very, how can I put this, uh, "wiggin'" around here. Getting a tad more surreal than I'm in the mood for. There may be some light showing at the far end of things ... fingers crossed. I saw a job in some museum in Calgary recently and for a moment I daydreamed ... it's such a temptation to leave this country sometimes. Anyhow, if I should find myself at the museum there I'll sneak you and all your pals in for free, I swear.
from meli-melo :
I was hoping that you were talking about some flea market I haven't been to yet. I know the Kensington flea market well - I live right down the street from it.
from meli-melo :
Which flea market do you go to? It sounds like so much fun. The only place I ever go is the Heritage Antiques Mall but it sounds like you are talking about a different place.
from meli-melo :
My password doesn't work anymore either. I think it has something to do with d-land moving servers. Have you heard about albertadotcow.com? It is a roots & folk music showcase that one of my profs told me about (I guess I look like I am into roots & folk music because he went out of his way to tell me about it). Anyway, it looks interesting.
from the-pala :
those prizes are sweet! matter of fact, those prizes gave me a brilliant idea for my friend's 30th birthday dinner. oh, and i almost forgot - my computer at home that had your password cookie'd in crashed. could you email me your password again to [email protected]? muchas gracias.
from neko-carre :
My haircut looks French! Ooh, you said the magic word! Now I like it! :)
from kats :
You know, it was playing at the art theatre down the street from where I lived, and I fully intended on seeing it, but then got swamped dowing something while it was playing. detachment tends to make me feel depressed, like i'm not really participating in my life. that was what was actually disturbing about my visit to the therapist I guess. nothing seems to be so wrong, because I can explain everything so clearly and succinctly. the real barrier is the money-- it's not like i thought the therapy wasn't worthwhile-- it's just that there were no clear and immediate benefits. i was expecting I would break down or have some kind of epiphany. then again, i tend to have my epiphanies while i'm writing rather than vocalizing, but even those seem so slippery and fluid. trust issues, i suppose. thank you for the note, my dear. i will look for that movie again. xxxo.
from somthin :
Speechless, really. I'm very pleased that you are safe. There is a relation in what happened to you to another pal I keep up with through journaling, culpa (here at diaryland), and her xmas entry. I don't know how to express my fear for every woman, let's just say that I have great concerns for eveyone's safety. It may be time to take that self defence course -- it may make you feel more safe. Best.
from nuclearlieut :
Holy begeezes!! That's the fucking most scary thing I've heard in a long while, Scout!! WTF?! I'm glad B was there, too. How creepsy for you...
from missplastic :
Woo hoo Nelson! I have a cover for the 25th. I phoned Jane twice about the showfil I hope she can find one... If not well... it will be an extra two hours of greek or something....

from faux-pas :
O, I was definately more pissed about her doing some stranger in my bed than doing who she was doing because I didn't know who the dude was. And I can't remember if he a mullet back then or not, it was many many moons ago. It was quite funny though, to follow and see where that link on your site lead to. Wahhahaaa. I'm still chuckling. PS, this friend of mine always did have the worst taste in guys. WRETCH
from seastreet :
You haven't spoken with the Americans you're wondering about because they leave the country less often than the rest of us, and (I'd assume) don't see any particular reason to talk to foreigners. The only solution is a program to send all Americans to a randomly selected foreign country for two months when they turn 18.
from seastreet :
If you'd email your password to seastreet at gmail dot com, that'd be great. Thanx!
from somthin :
Hello, dearie, thanks for the note and the compliment about my work. I appreciate it. I've been keeping up with your world and have been sending you all my best. I wish I could meet your grandmother -- she sounds pretty damned awesome. Please continue hanging tough.

Hey Doll!~ What are you doing after work today? Wanna go to Chinook? (it's monday)

from novel-t :
Theres a cool store called progress in downtown Med Hat that I think caters to farmers mostly, but I found many old but never used jackets there. Also the Salvation Army is one of the least picked over thrift stores Ive ever been to. I really actually liked going to art school in the Hat.nice little town.

I know you're right just like Dr. Shrinkage is right. I know I know...but I do not FEEL or FEEL right about not having him in my life. To make matters worse, he wants to see me....but only when HE FEELS like it sorta deal. I have plans to put an end to this back and forth shiz'it this weekend.
from goodsandwich :
I'm sure you did absolutely the right thing breaking up. Everybody deserves to be with someone who wants to CREATE with them - art, life, family, conversation, whatever. I don't know how I got this from your diary which really hardly mentioned R. and rarely complained about him, but . . . it came through that although he might be a valuable person for you to know, he has not been interested in the two of you growing into something together. Pardon my boldness, but it seemed he liked the comfort of you but would not tolerate the discomfort of tandem growth that is an inevitable and fabulous part of a full-on relationship.
from oh-sweet-pea :
i emailed you a couple of weeks ago but it may have gotten lost in the spam. ever since i changed to osx i lost my passwords, and i'd like the password to your diary again! you can email me at oh-sweet-pea at diaryland.com

Dang. I wanted to invite you and Shanny to my birthday party at Mortal Coil on Saturday, but it looks like you made plans. Perhaps afterwards? You're presence is greatly desired, you popular thing, you...
from radiokat :
i'm learning a lot by reading about what you are going through. there are a lot of questions in the relationship that i am in now, and they are very similar to yours. i hope that you feel better and keep being your scout-like self, which is wonderful. thanks so much for being honest. talk to you soon!
from missplastic :
Hey lady, Get your students to compare Hobbes and Machieavelli (holy man I should know how to spell that...) to Lord of the Flies. Hobbes thinks life is "nasty brutish and short" works well with the whole idea of basic human nature being depraved as in Lord of the Flies. I also have the movie missy! I will think about this for a while too...
from missplastic :
HEY lets go out on Friday night with Kenna or you guys could come over for a bbq this weekend!!
from nuclearlieut :
Sigh.... thank you, Leah. I'm feeling better about things, but sometimes you just want to crawl into bed and stay there, you know? Glad to hear school is exciting (even if the Juniors are dumb-asses). Shock! I didn't really say that.

from somthin :
Just so you know I was just on craigslist.com, New York branch, in the Gigs section and they were looking for short stories about nightmare roomates... 5000 words or less. Be careful out there -- I don't think it's just depression that she suffers from. The paranoia is too great. Could be she's supposed to be on meds and has decided that she doesn't need them anymore -- I think that is common. Could be schizophrenia, though I am nothing close to an expert. Calling her parents may be wise, but keep it on the qt.
from missplastic :
Hey Leah, That sounds good, I can meet either before 4:00 or after 4:00. Give me a call at the station to let me know what is good for you. Also could you call Kenna too? See what her plan is...
from floodtide :
Oh my GOD, did he really say this?!?!?!?
from nuclearlieut :
Oh Leah! I hope you're doing alright in wake of the break-up. I'm sorry to hear it (not that I knew R well, but really just because break-ups are lame-sauce). You can tell Jane she's on to something with that one. xoxo
from dutch-girl :
Hey! Can you send me the password? [email protected] Thanks!!
from neko-carre :
Shanny & Scout - You have probably figured this out, but just in case you haven't, Snideblonde's diary is not locked. The reason you get that "locked" message is because Grlscout's diary is locked and that's where Snideblonde's images are hosted. It's the images that are locked, not the diary. All Scout has to do is move the images (or Shanny, you can host them someplace else. Photobucket.com is a great, free image hosting site.)
from neko-carre :
Locked, eh? Hope everything's okay. I'd love the password.
from floodtide :
Had it saved from last time and got in just fine! Thank you! Love, ft
from snideblonde :
Hey doll... same problem as before. When you lock your diary, for some reason, it also locks mine. How we fix this situation, I do not know.
from somthin :
Thanks for the concerns regarding my headaching ways. Water is the perfect cure especially after hearing about membranes and such. Ick. Now I have a headache because I am going to some rich person's home on Park Ave to install large amounts of ugly artwork -- AND -- the word is that she is a nagging nutcase. Nothing like trying to measure and do math in yourhead while someone is breathing down your neck. Anyhow, tra la la, continue doing well in radio and music and stuff.
from snideblonde :
Hey, how was the Edmonton folk festival? Did you have some fun or what? Why don't you give me a call sooner rather than later... I think it would do me some good to hang out with you, chat and maybe drink a couple of beers.
from trulypoetic :
thank you...thank you for trying to put it into words that do make sense. I'm ...I'm wordless. Problem is he can read everything I write as well...it adds to the confusion. It boggles my mind that he'll take the time to come read what I write but won't stand in front of me and speak to me. I don't understand men. I really don't. In one breath (in that guestbook entry) he says "how can you people tell me I don't love her?" and prior to that he says "I loved you". Past tense?...confusing shit.

Your grandmas name is Paul? We (the Slyx) need to hangout and practice!!
from nuclearlieut :
I almost went to Hank & Patsy (I would've missed your band anyway - I finished work late), but I needed to have dinner and the thought of standing in line when you're already exhausted sometimes is exhausting in and of itself. Dig? It sounded like fun, and I'm sure you sounded great... xo
from novel-t :
man...i am lonely like that, but i just end up sleepin' a lot.
from k2e :
You are so cute! I love how you gave Sherilyn props in your diary. Awesome! Have we talked about Monday rehearsals? July 19th=1st Slyx pow-wow.
from novel-t :
Yeah I can't wait til' the RC breakfast....I should be doing my anual beat box session with the A-team that afternoon. Hopefully the sun's a beating down on us nicely unlike the freakish rain storm last year.
from k2e :
Thank you for the lovely note! We need to hang out OUTSIDE of work I mean. Shopping, yes, banned substances, yes, live music, yes and yes, booze, hell yes. See you
from nuclearlieut :
Leahspotting! I saw you last night at the "Moonlight and Moonbeams" thing! But by the time I saw you we were just heading out (I was with Mike and my parents and we all wanted REAL dinner)...
from novel-t :
Geez...I wish I would have saw you last night...
from snideblonde :
Thanks, Babe. I keep hoping that something better and more ideally "suitable" for me will come up. I'm just disappointed. After all rejection is not unfamiliar to me, just unwelcome.
from snideblonde :
Wow. You managed to hit the two last places on Earth I would ever want to find myself on a Thursday night!
from nuclearlieut :
OHMIGOSH!! I thought I was the only one waiting for that movie to come out!!
from novel-t :
this is great....!: http://www.voteoutanders.com/
from novel-t :
ha...you would have loved my friend Greg Neely then.
from snideblonde :
Um, for some reason I couldn't load the video at all... I have a kitty hat pattern in my knitting book, I just never made it because it seems really complicated. I can make a photocopy for your Mom, though! Are you checking your email, cause I'm gonna send you one right now!
from novel-t :
Yeah that was fun...we'll have to do it again.
from nuclearlieut :
Alas, I have neither. Perhaps I can paint a big flaming C..jsw on my chest... oh, wait... what parade is this, again?
from nuclearlieut :
I might want to join you for the parade! I may be out gallavanting late on Saturday, though, so it would mean getting up early as opposed to AFTER 11:30am. What do you wear to such things? Rainbow?
from trulypoetic :
Don'tcha just hate when someone apologizes and they're really not sorry??? :P My advice on your poetry unit..I'd be honoured. But you better wait til I'm no longer mad at ya..eh??? teehee..
from nuclearlieut :
KUDOS!!!!! Wow, HS English and Social, eh? Now I can refer to you on all matters of current events and grammar. For instance... is it "eachother" or "each other"? Palistinians or Israelis... who's winning?
from nuclearlieut :
Actually, the Carolyn show is THIS thursday (the 20th)... I keep getting these things mixed up. I'm going to try to bring my parents, 'cuz I think they'd dig her. Nice pics of Flashlight... I have flashlight envy.
from nuclearlieut :
I'm just adding on a note because its been awhile and your notes page needs some refreshing. Are you going to Carolyn Mark? I get off work at 8:30pm so I hope she starts late.
from nuclearlieut :
I was SO tired the next day, but I had a blast on friday. I'm totally going to try to make it a tradition, but I'll have to pre-set my coffee maker for the next morning...
from oobie-doobie :
OH MY GOD!!! I thought I was the only person to go to such lengths for good BBQ sauce...the last was a case of "Piggy Park" from NC.
from snideblonde :
Hey, doll! I just wanted to say *thank-you* for the amazing conversation last night, and your calm input! (Big hug!) What can I say, I'm totally blissed out... I know that when reality hits, I'll be sad, but for now... :)
from nuclearlieut :
Wow. Oobie-doobie knows their stuff.
from oobie-doobie :
How's about an old Gram Parsons/Emmy lou Harris ditty? The Angels Rejoiced in Heaven Last Night or ??? they did a whack o' duets, or an old Maddox Bros and Rose tune (if you're looking for something upbeat and funny - "Ugly and Slouchy" is way fun, or "Red Silk Stockings and green perfume")...Jean Shepperd and Ray Pillow "I'll keep the dog" is a real hoot but it's normally a fella & gal divorce tune.WOOHOO! Malcolm Yelvington "It's me Baby" is workable as a duet. Have fun
from nuclearlieut :
I'm working on the archives and I think if I keep going I might accidentally set off some nuclear weapons in Korea. Flashlight? OOOoo... should I? I have to work tomorrow at 9am, but Flashlight sounds fun...
from nuclearlieut :
I changed my template on a whim, but I think I screwed it up! I've lost my archives, but my older entries are still there. Also, do you think the font is hard on the eyes? Hoo boy, I suck. Its pretty though...
from nuclearlieut :
Love the new profile. That's one of my favourite books!
from neko-carre :
Oooh! Also Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood. Awesome duets there. Or George Jones and Tammy Wynette. (I was just thinking female duets the first time.)
from nuclearlieut :
Dude, I'm so excited I'm knocking things over. I cannot wait.
from nuclearlieut :
Yeah, I found out about Ray last night at the Ramblin' show. Shame.
from nuclearlieut :
Yay! Pixies! I'll see you there!!
from nuclearlieut :
Ugh. Unfortunately, our dry mountain air and altitude go the best of his voice and he couldn't hit the high notes. He practically had laryngitis, which was a shame. I found him wholly entertaining as a person, though. Also, he mostly sang from his new album which isn't my fave. How was flashlight??
from nuclearlieut :
Have fun at the Gallery! I wish I could go dance oblivion with ya, but I'm seeing Rufus Wainwright tonight with Karin. He's so gay-dreamy...
from nuclearlieut :
Dude, that chicken didn't do a THING I asked him to. He just kept sitting in the damn red chair. Hmph.
from nuclearlieut :
Thanks, girl. I appreciate it. I'm scared shitless, as you can imagine. Congrats on finishing your thesis!! Now, can you teach me to be cool?
from faux-pas :
I can't sign your guestbook for some reason today, but... yeah, it seems everyone, well, a few people anyway, have moved on over to livejournal, though some still update on dland. I have a journal there too, called carnivalesque, which I got when the site went freebee a bit ago; however, there's stuff I don't like about livejournal and stuff I do. I don't like not being able to design my own page, aside from choosing my backgound colors, but I do like the way they set the "friends" page - where you can view the latest entries of everyone you've friended on one page. There's also lots of fun communities, like: found_objects, and cheese_party, and accordions, to name just a few. I also like how you can set your entries to be "public" or "friends only" or "private". I'm not sure if I'm going to use it too much for writing though.. well, maybe now and then and for the odd private thing. I still like diaryland too much to jump ship and also I'm an html snob (heh), so we'll see. Anyway, if you get a page there, please let me know. ;0)
from somthin :
My old roomie who used to tour with Wanda J. said that she was quite a character. And she drank two bottles of wine nightly. Heh. I could hardly perform well after a couple pints. Cheers.
from nuclearlieut :
Ok... I can't decide on which template to get because I know I'll want to switch it after two weeks. I like this one template that looks as though its flying through space, and then I realized it gave me motion sickness...
from nuclearlieut :
Yes! I agree with your last entry. Don't worry about the party, it sounds like you had a great weekend... *hugs right back atcha!!* Ave xo
from nuclearlieut :
My lord, that is the best picture EVER!! Guess what? My parents decided to donate the W/D to Habitat for Humanity this morning and I just got a call from my friend saying she'll take it!! Whoops... ya snooze, ya lose...
from radiokat :
hey scout! the doc that i'm working on is one about the NOVI Police to celebrate their 50yrs of being in service. i wish it was more fun. lol. but i'm trying to make it fun.
from nuclearlieut :
I hate to say it, I bought a slew of panties this fall and I have way more than one pair for each day of the week/occasion that may arise. I'm afraid of facing a panty-avalanche from my mailbox if I join this thing...
from nuclearlieut :
Panties? Are we talking krazy panties or Saan store practical cottons?
from nuclearlieut :
Videos worked for me!! You've made me hungry for Korean food...
from radiokat :
yeah! you can email me at [email protected]. good luck with your interview!!
from radiokat :
oh! i forgot to tell you...derby is the kentucky derby. i guess there a lot of parties and fun-ness down south during that time, and my friends want me to come down to party with them this year. it's going to be nuts!
from radiokat :
hey! how are you?! the rig that i use is just a cannon xl1 minidv camera from my work. i don't tape for sound in this case, so i have nothing plugged into the board. but if i wanted to, i would probably either hook up a second camera to the sound board, or i would hook up a wireless mic to get a direct feed. the cannon camera can tape in frame mode, so it looks so much more like film rather than video...which i like a lot. the stills in my entry are just from my digital camera though. i wish i could show you the footage. miss reading your entries! hope you're well!
from somthin :
Glad you liked the story -- I sincerely wish it were mine. I rarely get jealous of anyone else, but this is one time I made an exception. Be good.
from nuclearlieut :
I'll probably take my friend Karin, as she was in Vancouver when they went on sale and missed out. We were chatting about Dave at work yesterday and the concensus is that although he's not gay, he secretly wants to try it out for size. Closeted gay men with bad hair and sour expressions don't make good dates. Not that I know from experience. Thanks re: my dad... I'm so relieved!!
from somthin :
Whoa, uh, lessee .. what year did Mule Variations come out? He played keyboards and is a skinny little white guy with thinning blonde hair. Maybe you saw him. I'm trying to find the time to finish the story. I was listening to Skip J just last night... yay.
from nuclearlieut :
Cute movie!
from nuclearlieut :
I know... nobody loves me but you (or, everybody secretly reads my diary and agrees so wholeheartedly with what I say that they have no comment). I'd love to go to the NG sometime... that taco thing freaks me out.
from candora :
This is a test. (beep) This is a test of the Emergency Valentine's Day System. (EVS) This test is to see if leaving notes around DLand will make this a wonderful day in spite of not particularly being with anyone romantically at the moment. (ummm) May the results be that all this love in my heart found some productive use. (smile) And maybe a giggle or few :)
from nuclearlieut :
I'll have to put ticketmaster on speed dial... I must have those tickets!!
from nuclearlieut :
Argh!! Someone bring us some sunshine-y news for pete's sake!! Thanks, scout.... I really appreciate it, I am hoping for the best...xo
from bad-kitty-6 :
I have Two Questions Can I Read Your Diary ([email protected]) And My Other Question Is Do You Have Bluering's password she Sent It To Me a Long Time Ago And Then I never Loged Back On And My Email Got Shut Down
from demoderby :
ps. the shoes are red.
from demoderby :
oh man, i'm such an idiot... i accidently deleted the forwarded email with your password in it. may i have it again please? i promise i'll save it this time so i don't have to keep buggin you. you can send it to demo-derbyATtelus.net. thanks scout.
from nuclearlieut :
Aw, Scout... I know it sucks because we were all looking forward to hearing you sing on Saturday, but the overall concensus of everyone that I chatted with was that we felt bad because your band mates treated you so poorly. Like I said, girl, this might be a higher power trying to convince you to play the guitar... or find new band mates...
from iooi :
hi! can i read your diary? [email protected]
from oh-sweet-pea :
thanks for the well wishes on the state of my uterus. it is scary, but i'm sure it will all go well.
from nuclearlieut :
Thanks for the note! I feel so special... notes are wicked-awesome and totally tubular. I would love to read your diary again but I never got the password! Pleeeze?? Or is it a secret handshake...
from neko-carre :
BWAAA HA HA! Ducking down to his eye level! I totally thought about doing that!
from demoderby :
whoops! i forgot i didn't have my email turned on yet. if you sent it, you may have to send it again. i'm a dork.
from demoderby :
heya scout. i think i lost yer password in the move. would you mind emailing it to me at [email protected]? thanks lots. - mel
from floodtide :
Break a leg tonight, beautiful Scout! Oh, how I wish I could be there to hear you. But I am there in spirit, cheering you wildly and supporting you with all my heart. Have a great time. Love, flood
from floodtide :
Hey, and thanks! My diary is unlocked again, though I doubt that's permanent. If you try to access and are asked for a password, it goes like this - username: theboathouse password: penge Love, flood
from floodtide :
Been meaning to ask you this for ages: may I please have a password? Am missing your diary. Love, flood

from tornadoali :
Hey, thanks for the note you left! I feel privileged to be in on someone's secret password!
from somthin :
Someday I HAVE GOT to tell you this Tom Waits story I've got (it involves Elvis C. and the Louvre). A pal of mine played keyboards for him for about a year, it's his story ... but you're right about KB and TW, we should all be so lucky -- actually I am a bit lucky now that I think of it.

from somthin :
Just in from LA LA and finally at a computer again -- "Take your cow back!" Ha, when I heard that I began laughing so hard that it was dangerous since I was driving my ma's family truckster quite fast into the big city. All bad cows come from Canada, didn't you know that? "Rebel cows" they calls 'em. Guess we need to tighten our borders even more because the U.S. guards aren't assholish enough to stop this new bovine weapon of mass destruction -- maybe the UN can send inspectors. Weee! Hey, I hope all is well and glad you let me in.
from trulypoetic :
:-) I don't know why you locked...but thanks for letting me know. The picture....is great. Nice to see the smile behind the kewl chic I've been reading for so long. b.t.w. thanks for reading always without bias....I appreciate that tons. Merry Christmas!
from oh-sweet-pea :
i've been so busy that i forgot to ask for a password! i'm asking now, please?
from somthin :
Merry Happy! Thanks for the note, yup, it happened and the weirdest stuff cannot be told -- tour stories.
from neko-carre :
Re: twentysomethings - don't they know *we're* still it? I LOVE that quote! One of my favs! :-D And, I'd like your password if you do decide to lock.
from goodsandwich :
I'd like to keep reading. Drop me a p-word if that suits your fancy!
from john-gerrard :
Woaa, I was looking back at my old notes, and you totally left me a note! Anways, I then started looking at your profile and saw that you liked donnie h! WoOOAAA! That's wicked cool.
from somthin :
Been and done (not Donne, sadly). We did, however, have some excellent smoked meat. The city was as lovely as ever and didn't get too cold until the last day. My French improved from zero to 12 words in nothing flat. Impressive.
from neko-carre :
Hey, thanks for the secretarial pool font link, Scout! I'll go check that out! It seems like the last time I looked into a font, I didn't know how to add it to my page. Any html tips?
from somthin :
Hey, myself and Famous Teva are going to be in Montreal this weekend -- any suggestions? We'll be downtown... weee...

from red-wine :
Dude. I can only imagine what a completely different kind of person I'd be today if Tom Waits had come to my school. *sigh* Oh, the possibilities.
from somthin :
Thanks for the info on Mr Waits. It'd be good to see him again. Hope all is well.
from starz113 :
Can you email me at [email protected] and pleaze tell me how you got your guestbook on the link.(www.diaryland.com)
from floodtide :
Hey, Scout - As you may remember I trashed a local production of "Footloose" with little less than savagery. Well, as a result of an unanticipated Google search, the director - a good friend - and others found my diary and read it. My name is shit with about 40 people right now, and I have deeply hurt the feelings of some I love. I'm feeling awful about it, and the diary is locked for obvious reasons. I'm not up to giving passwords to anyone yet - can't play the "this" person gets one and "that" person doesn't game yet - but I will soon. I'll be happy to send one then. Thanks, as always. Love, flood.
from asteroidbelt :
happy belated birthday!
from alicenobody :
yea you can get into them.
from ginja-puds :

Hey...you can find my band, The Brett Rosenberg Problem, plus the Rudds and Army of Jasons at http://sodapoprecords.net. There are mp3's there. I think the BRP also has an IUMA.com page. Search for Brett Rosenberg and you'll find it. Yeah...rock on!
from radiokat :
hey scout!! i got my digital camera for pretty cheap. but it doesn't have an optical zoom. when you get one, try to get one with an op. zoom on it. for the layout, i just use raw code. i write a few sentences, then insert an image, i then align it to the left or right so the text can wrap around. i'm glad that you liked the pictures! i've really enjoyed your website designs that you've been doing for yourself and others. i'd like to see more of the documetaries and stuff that you've been doing too!
from somthin :
Some boy culture is pretty cool and yes there is a lot of nicknames for everything -- I've known many guys who seem to live for making and refining the secret terms they use for things in their lives more than they spend time with the things in their lives, if you know what I mean. Guys can be cool but it takes a lot of them some time to come around. And it's a subject long and complex... too much so for a little note such as this one here. I used to have a group of girl friends who knew me through my then girlfriend and we were pals for a summer. I went everywhere with them and listened to all their talk and added my own as if I were one of them, I guess I was for a few months anyway. It was wonderful and never repeated. Sadly. There's a lot of room for this sort of ting but maybe it's easier to take people as individuals since when in a group someone is going to blow it eventually, probably me. I always fall for friends. Hee hee.
from somthin :
Just passing by when I saw the kitty update arrive. All my best for sore tails. Go get blinds and sing more often, it's good for you -- but you know that. Hey, I saw Cat Power a while back, she cracked me up some, she kept getting lost and stopping the song to find her place. Then her fans began clapping out of time trying to throw her off. She protested but it did no good. Finally she stopped because she lost her place. She was laughing. It was an odd show to say the least. Be good.
from john-gerrard :
The guitarist from my church is the guitarist from the Ronnie Hayward Trio. That's radical.
from goodsandwich :
That kid Satchel is the cutest thing on the freakin' planet!
from bionicgurl :
thanks for that info. i'm going to call there and just see if they can offer any info for here in vancouver. thank you so much. you are a doll!
from neko-carre :
WHOA! I don't know why my g-book note to you was so stretchy! Weird. Anyway, I meant to say you can search for any "keyWORD" (not keyWORK). Silly typos.
from goodsandwich :
Ah yes -- Americans being dipshits about Canada again. Ain't it grand?
from bionicgurl :
thank you:)
from tornadoali :
Hi! I just wanted to say I totally love Ron Sexsmith, so I understand your school-girl crush! I learned of him when I saw him open for Lucinda Williams about two years ago, and he totally blew me away. Usually opening acts don't do that! So I got "Blue Boy" and now it's one of my favorite albums. So, cheers to another Ron fan! --Tornado Ali
from somthin :
Yeah, I've been lucky to know a few of the good folks. Lots of those people live in LA and that's where I'm from. Anyhow, speaking of cool folks, Colleen is a fine example. I recall that she spoke of being a projectionist -- said she loved doing it. If you ever bump into her you oughta sit down and chat also give her my best. Sorry to hear about your glass door.
from peth :
hey, i cannot take credit for the layout. the skeletal design is by poo designs, and my friend addieplum tailored it to suit my color likings. i guess the only thing i can take credit for are all the pics I choose to pepper my text with .....thank you for your kind words!
from somthin :
Hey, my old roomate used to play with Wanda J and still sits in with Rosie Flores once in a while, do you know her music? He's got some good stories.
from somthin :
Her name is Colleen -- she is a tall sweet girl with curly hair. I believe that she left the club about two years ago. I was there in winter of 2000 --
from somthin :
By the way, I've been to Calgary and had a penpal there for a while. Can't find her, it's a shame. She used to be a booker at a club called Night Gallery (I think). Thought I'd mention it.
from somthin :
Good to hear from you, it's been a while. I'm nearly out of contact with the world now that I have no internet at home. Wanda was fantastic as always -- if you ever get a chance to see her live I advise you to do so. Hands down best reader/ speaker I've ever heard. I'm at work and the boss is literally speaking to me right this second, pardon me.
from hey4eyes :
GGGRRRRRRR. Now I'm homesick for Canada...Thanks alot. Bobbie Sue Dicks
from floodtide :
"Slaughterhouse Five," "All's Well That Ends Well," and "The Pianist" would all deal, if in some cases peripherally, with how men behave during war. The Vonnegut also addresses human behavior when conventional and moral authority are turned upside down; the Shakespeare play that would mirror that would be "Measure for Measure," my personal favorite. Add Bergman's "Fanny and Alexander" and you mirror "Measure" well: a piously-motivated person abusing his authority once love and lust enter the picture. Are you wedded to the Vonnuegut? Seems to me you could find a novel better matching that theme: "Lord of the Flies" might be a more accessible piece (is this for students?) that addresses the abuse of authority in the name of creating or maintaining social order (which seems, to me, particularly apt at the moment, considering the insane abuses of the current U.S. Presidential administration). There's also Irving,s "Garp," in which Jenny is usually thinking "Lust lays another man low!" Love, Flood
from radiokat :
i haven't read slaughter house five yet...but what about the pianist as being the film. that might be a good connection thematically with world war II. or...you could use richard III as the shakespeare play and movie (the adaptation of the play was "hitler-esque"). or maybe in terms of getting far, far away in a different time period, i would dare even go on a journey through some japanese anime, those are usually in the future.
from floodtide :
Dear Scout - Are you kidding? I'd be honored. Do you have my 'real' e-mail address? We could correspond that way. Send a note to [email protected] and I'll respond from my home e-mail. If I can help I'd be truly thrilled to contribute in some small way. The trip down and the work with the boys, by the way, was in at least some small way quite successful. Love, flood.
from goodsandwich :
I agree that there's something special about the CBC. Until I moved far enough north in the US to be close to your southern border, I'd never heard it, and now it's my fave by far. In fact, I don't think I subject myself to any US radio any more - why bother, when there's all that great Canadian stuff out there? Even when it's crap at least it's a VARIETY of crap, instead of the same 50 songs of crap and 3 news stories of crap over and over!
from keryanna :
I have often thought that religion would be comforting. Takes some of the fear away. But I agree about the gospel music thing ... I'm not a religious person but I love that baptist, heart pounding, black Mississippi church gospel music ... it's ashame what Christian white people went and did with it. Took the soul out of it.
from somthin :
Thanks, my dear, We'll see where it takes me, this job. Meanwhile, hope all is well with you.
from bionicgurl :
hm. how about glittery cat sweatshirts??! nah, i've never gone there. if i did go back to teaching, i'd for sure have to tonedown. lol
from floodtide :
In case you didn't find it, it's "Chet Baker's Unsung Swan Song," and it's on the "Home Again" CD! OMG, you like David Wilcox, too! I think we were separated at birth... Or maybe we're actually twin children of different mothers. Love, Flood
from floodtide :
THANK you. Really. Love, Flood.
from soundandfury :
hi. I haven't updated my diary because I now keep a blog at my web site, http://www.sparksflyup.com (the blog address being http://www.sparksflyup.com/blog.html) I'd actually forgotten I ever had a diaryland account, so it was nice to get your message. Like yours, btw. smart, witty diaries are few and far between.
from kissoff :
that is an adorable picture. I have the biggest soft spot for pit bulls. I'm a total sucker for those goofy dumb as a sack of hammers, head like a brick dogs. I have had three and despite the reputation of being ferocious land sharks they've all been incredibly sweet gentle sucky lap dogs. I guess it's all in how you raise them. I now feel the need to put a picture up of my current love, Miss Kaya on my page. I draw the line at putting reindeer ears or santa hats on the poor thing though, she's a bit of a sissy and she's clinging to that last shred of self respect around the local dog park.
from somthin :
We do have some of the same musicians listed. It must be because we're both geniuses (geniusus?). Be good, nice to know ya.
from somthin :
Just wanted to stop by and wish you a fine day. How's Canada today? Brooklyn is looking up now that I have a coffee within reach. Stay famous.
from floodtide :
That's because I stole it. Or quoted it, depending on how you look at it; I like to think I'm quoting, making a clever literary allusion. Brutus says to Portia in "Julius Caesar" that "you are my true and honorable wife, as dear to me as are the ruddy drops that visit my sad heart." Thank you for your note; you're wonderful. Love, Flood
from leanasidhe :
i got hit on by a drunk john prine fan this summer...he had to have been in his late 40s, early 50s...i was 22 at the time. a lil weird but funny, too...lol! it was a good show, though.
from sexfiendgirl :
support homosexuality. don't like religious people that reject homosexuals.
from floodtide :
I am so jealous! "Johnny Cash at San Quentin" was the VERY FIRST album I ever owned! I got it for Christmas when I was maybe 8 or so - I loved "Boy Named Sue." I will ALWAYS remember every song on that record. So tickled you found a copy. And for a buck! Love, Flood.
from theredscare :
although i am not sure when we'll be playing again, i will definitely let you know. and thank you for the good luck on the tour. take care. -s.
from invisibledon :
thanks for visiting
from goodsandwich :
So sorry to hear about The End. You are strong and beautiful and better off -- all the things your real-life friends are no doubt saying -- and I send you a little affectionate band-aid for your heart.
from rosecongo :
sweetie, pardon my butting in and all, but i just wanted to say that i admire you. lots of reasons, really, but it just hit me what a coward i was to end *my* important 4 year long (magic number?) relationship in the most horribly passive-aggressive way ever. no ultimatums for me, i just cheated on him and didn't speak to him for 2 months while i avoided his death threats. sigh. you're very strong. <3

Here's a great variation on your recipe...one frozen banana, handful of strawberries, cup of soy milk and voila...Thanks again. I've been going nuts with variations (carob soy milk and bananas and almond butter...) - skim (aka Flanders' lost daughter)

Love your layout and writing style. David Sedaris does rock and he makes me feel like my family isn't really dysfunctional and crazy... Oh no, it's just kind of kooky and zany. You've got great taste, which pretty much means " you like the same crap as me". jen

Hey, thanks so much for the encouragement. REALLY. It made me feel a lot better. I'll have to check that book out. I really dig your diary, and it's so cool you're a fellow Albertan (Edmonton here, whee!). I always look forward to reading your new stuff. And your stamps are gorgeous!

I like your diary a lot. It was interesting to come across a mention of the Blackbird Media Collective; my roommates are all members, and I was involved at one time. Considering I hear about their tension with CJSW every day, it was exciting and even kind of unnerving to see the story from another perspective.

hey grlscout. just got your comment. Andrew did some hero work and fixed them up. so in response to your comment---> thinking of going into a little programming eh? well, not a problem in the case of XML if you know HTML. Sams is a good way to go. (Sams Teach Yourself XML in 21 days). anymore questions let me know.

hey where did you get that image of mamie's nightmare?...i just saw a grad student's ofice here at my school with that same image but with block of text on top that said "every time you masturbate, god kills a kitten. please, won't you think of the kitties?"...am i missing out on some important and ubiquitous cultural reference?

update April 6, 2020: Sorry, we just had 8+ hours downtime due to a server problem. Restoring from backups took soooo long, but everything is back and no data was lost. Ay yay yay! Anyhow, hope everyone is well with the virus stuff.
