Hello and thanks for writing but can I first just say, Susan Cooper, Susan Cooper, Susan Cooper???? I've read The Dark Is Rising sequence a number of times and even got a letter from her in response to a fan letter I sent many years ago. Gimme an L, gimme an O, gimme a V, gimme an E. Her. Okay, so just to continue, thank you for your lovely note. I'll be visiting you here and/or on your blogspot. By the way, what's the difference between a blog and a journal? Does it have to have comment things to be a blog?
from flicka :
YOU SAID IT!!! I too am 31. "Why did no one warn me that I would be MORE sexually charged, not less, as I headed into my 30s? I mean its ridiculous. Men, remember what it was like to be 19? Multiply that by 1000 and set it on fire, and you will understand the state of my loins." And the zit picker thing.....we all have it. You are the only one readily admitting it. I must redo 100 things about me because I feel inspired (of course, not right this second...). Cheers!
from sparkspark :
I think my comment got eaten, so I'm attempting it here--sorry if it's a duplicate. I had a dream about YOU recently, but I wasn't going to tell you, in case it seemed too personal. But, now that you've broken the seal on the dream bottle, I will reveal that I was staying with you at your apartment (which had piles of clothes everywhere, about which you were unapologetic). In there somewhere was a band practice, at which your boyfriend was present. It may have been his band. So, howzabout that? XOX Violet
from rachelliz :
I just found you through a banner ad and I think I will keep reading!
from cardiogirl :
You are one funny chick, Maven!
from spazs :
Hey, about the guacamole: I think it means that it comes up again? Like when you have to do those burps and then get a re-taste? (Whaha.)
from t85225 :
hey... clicked your banner, and glad I did :)
from myra-lee :
I vote yes on Prodigal Sportswear!
from porchlife :
I have been added! Always cool and slightly creepy! Pleesta meetcha. I used to spend a lot of time in St. Paul.
from pouncer :
Hey I just started reading abittergirl, and I love those reads too <3 Ok, just had to comment on POLKA DANCE??? HAHAHAH, you are too funny, I couldn't help but remember a pretty hilarious episode of FRIENDS, when monica and whats that guys name on there her bro ross? well they went to American Band Stand or something and had the funniest dance coreographed and totally busted out in the middle of the dance floor, TOOO FUNNY, unless you haven't seen which I suggest you do ;)
from abittergirl :
Hi Maven. I'm tagging you. Details in my entry.
from annanotbob :
Hi there. Just found you when out browsing and have to add you.
from oh-sweet-pea :
that pink snow suit is the raddest thing i've seen in a long time.
from oh-sweet-pea :
i definitely think relationships and vulnerability go hand in hand. the risk is worth it and the rewards are great. love is fucking great/fucking scary that way!
from sparkspark :
You are so right about the comments... I'm on it! Me, and my freakishly large boobs!
from oh-sweet-pea :
i never understood the phrase "repeating on me", as in "the guacamole is repeating on me". it was quite overused in the golden girls and i remember asking my mom what it meant (she was almost in tears with laughter) and she said she had no idea. i think it has something to do with poo, but that's only speculation.
from sixelasauce :
Sweet! Another reason to adore you! Project runway is the absolootly best. I used to despise santino...but then, when he did the Tim and Andre at Red lobster...I just about lost it! On his web site there is really pictures of him at red lobster..it is too funny! http://santinorice.com/ I love to read his blog..the pics are funny and his comments kill me...sorry if you already had the heads up about it. you rule!
from oh-sweet-pea :
i love all the orange in your kitchen! what great finds you have. if there is ever enough light in my apartment (really, i mean if my apartment is ever clean enough) then i'll steal your idea and start photographing my apartment!
from sparkspark :
I was obviously channeling you through The Dark is Rising. I love that series so very much. Anyway. In other news, I also detest the word "nourish." And "nourishing." It seems cloying to me in the same way that "pamper" does.
from sixelasauce :
I just read your 100..it was so entertaining and I really felt that I was getting to know you...much props to your cute brain... :)
from sparkspark :
Right back atcha, Miss M! You make me feel like dancing. (Wanna dance the night away.)
from wendell77 :
Foxx, Thanks! Robert n' co will be selling, but I didn't know the Brit lived over there in North Richfield! Awesome. I hope you're having a good week. Alexandrite is one of the gems featured on my fave jewelry shopping networks; maybe I'll do some research too. xo, W
from sparkspark :
AAA! (That was a shriek, not an endorsement for a roadside assistance service.) You are making me laugh out loud. I must go back and re-read your last entry so that the rubbing-out can transpire.
from randh :
Awesome diary! I love the mensis analysis. I did something similar in mine and some guy told me to grow some balls! totally funny. Anyway, good stuff. Keep it up!
from sparkspark :
Ha ha ha I said "whom." I meant, of course, "who's." Or maybe "who'se."
from sparkspark :
I ripped off the iGod link from willowfox, whom does not know me, and to whom I probably appear as a total ripping-off, flaunting stranger. But I can't wait to see you swank it up with iGod in your next entry! Share the love.
from oh-sweet-pea :
i tried writing in your comments page but i dont think it worked. i just wanted to say how sweet it is with you and the brit. it makes me want to tear up with joy! hooray to love!
from sparkspark :
Weepy-ass bitches, unite!
from sparkspark :
I could just hear your sparkling mezzo (I assume, although I don't know why--please forgive if wrong) tones singing me a happy birthday. Grazie, grazie mille!
from sparkspark :
You were born on the DAY OF THE FEARLESS CRUSADER. Details via e-mail. XO Vio
from heelandlass :
Hey Mavenhaven! Thank you for the music recommendations. I'm going to check them out this weekend. Have a good one xxx
from enceinte :
I think the Brit has a good eye when it comes to photography!
from heelandlass :
That is a brilliant idea. I might get some printed up and sell them through diaryland!
from heelandlass :
Hello! Thank you for your wee note. The holiday was exactly what I needed. I have a feeling I won't have this chilled out glow for long though, it takes no time at all for real life to creep back in does it?!!
from sparkspark :
I am currently grooving on the coast to your excellent mix CD--many thanks for sending it! (OK, I am not CURRENTLY grooving, like, as I type, but you know. You know what I mean.) Sending me your lists was above and beyond, and I thank you for that, as well. Ciao, bella.
from coldandgray :
Yeah Neighborhoodie! I am getting one that says cloudy in stitching. Maven will be a cool one!
from bexx :
Yeah Waits and Smith are a few of my favorites. I still have to check out the Neko album you recommended. Maybe Friday when I hit the shop, if they have it..-BeXx
from oh-sweet-pea :
ooh, i love your diary. my friend kayemess pointed me here and i think i'll stay awhile.
from applerobot :
your diary! i love it!
from bexx :
Thanks for the suggestion, ever listen to Elliott Smith or Tom Waits? Just curious...-Bexx
from sparkspark :
You're on the list for the bum-rush! Bring your drinking shoes. Also: the note just before this one makes me wonder where I put my "Blacklisted" CD...
from bexx :
Hey, just surfing. I see you like Neko Case, do you recommend an album of hers? -BeXx
from sparkspark :
I know that I would have rabidly coveted the entire "Painted City" line of clothing. It is probably best that it remained imaginary.
from wendell77 :
Hotty, I didn't know about the WI college thingy, which sounds more like something that would happen in MN?! whuthefuck. Thank you for your vole support! I'm glad you liked it. I like the online profiles that feature a man with a female's arm draped over his shoulder, but the rest of her cropped off. Sneaky, sneaky. Yay for the swimming, W
from sparkspark :
When I see a license plate like OBLADA, I always think, Someone got to OBLADI first, and YOU HAD TO SETTLE! LOSER!! LOSER!! And I drive up next to them, pointing and squinting my eyes, nodding knowingly, mouthing "Picked last for kickball!"
from sparkspark :
The golden slippers have arrived and are making my dreams come true! Many thanks. And, I didn't even notice you were creeping in the archives, so you know... creep away, my sister.
from bluemeany :
You just made my entire day with those games, and I will play them during my whole night shift. You are my hero.
from bluemeany :
You were so articulate as a teenager -- I'm jealous! My (randomly kept) journals were full of run-on sentences and endless drug-induced paragraphs describing the wonder of my carpet.
from bluemeany :
Oddly, I know more of the older songs on your tape than the newer ones. Does that make me a freak? P.S. I have a mix tape from '94 featuring Boyz II Men, Ace of Base, and TLC.
from hooterville :
Alright, my little pile of mavenly goodness, I've sent you your 5 questions via the [email protected] thingie. If you don't get it, drop me a note to [email protected] and I'll resend. Keep on figgin'!
from jumblygiant :
Hi! I wandered my way here via a banner. I'm hooked! The entry about your sister graduating actually made me a litte misty eyed. *ahem* It was really sweet.
from sparkspark :
Heathcliff! It's me, your Cathy, I've come home! And... ok, now that's stuck in my head. And that's OK. I have heard this Benatar version--it's a little soulless. But so, so worth it.
from so-blonde :
cute layout!
from bluemeany :
Just realized that there is a horrendous typo in my last note to you, but oh well. I'm lovin' the fashion show, and I think any opportunity to wear a stripedpantsuit is a good opportunity. Har!
from bluemeany :
Hey, I liked your bowling banner. Also you're page is pretty, so I'm sure I'll be back to experience the prettiness once more. -Meany
from sparkspark :
You are so right-- "love bag" is open to many interpretations, all of them unsettling. I definitely need to make a t-shirt and share this newfound joy with the world!
from hissandtell :
Hi - I'm visiting from orfeo's diary (although I see we have other mutual friends, too). I've bookmarked your diary to come back and read more. Love, R xxx
from matthewpv2 :
I can across you diary. Its a good read. I'll be back for more. :)
from lordpolonius :
ok... enjoy the idea that there is another peanut fan who parks jars of peanuts in her/his car. (I'm also rather chatty so I'll chill)
from lordpolonius :
dining out alone, that is
from lordpolonius :
Not a big fan of dining out
from janitor-x :
holy christ, I just about had an aneurysm over the Amy Grant sticker. That even beats out the "X STRAIGHTEDGE X" sticker I saw on a Ford Explorer a couple of years back. BTW, hi. Sorry I haven't made a shout-out since I appeared on your list...I'm a longtime fan!
from lifenblue :
fancy smancy eh? i can't say i'm not envious..maybe i should fork over the gold membership money...anyways i dig and am quite intrigued which is more then i can say about most things i read. if you feel so inclined to check out my sad little lo-tech diary pleae do.
from lordpolonius :
Not all men are like that! You live to far away... plus, I thought you said everyone in your family has a nice tush... you aren't showing yours off! growling bear... grrr!
from lordpolonius :
I like the dice thong idea! Not the idea of the STDs, but perhaps my wife should have worn something like that every time she was ovulating! As always: brilliant
from kosmodoulos :
ah maven, may allah bless the electrons that tonight brought your face and words back into my life. the bit on irrational fears -- i sympathize about the puppies. this guy sent me an image with a gun pointed to a puppy's head and the caption: "send nudes or i shoot the puppy." one sick bitch.
from abittergirl :
#1. I am so with you on the box of puppies in the road-thing... I have no idea where I got it, but it must be some type of urban myth for us both to have the same thoughts. #2. Thongs. I tried to embrace them, but have found that brazillian cut is sooooo much more comfy and makes my ass look fabu. My fave are from VS and they are made of a type of netting with lace trim, super retro and sexy. :) #3. Retail Chicken...anytime...bring it on. ha ha ha ha.
from lordpolonius :
my gender is a construct? Brilliant, again! I read Kite Runner a few months back--the characters still tickle the back of my mind.
from lordpolonius :
Yes... potato chips are crack! Cape Cod Potato Chip Co. is the Medellin Cartel! Oh, I wrote an email but I think the diaryland post-office is closed or I didn't have any stamps. Truly a wonderful read!
from abittergirl :
I so totally understand not being into it with someone who is below par after you've had greatness. But good on ya for having a lovely, raunchy date. ;)
from lordpolonius :
Goodluck on your date tonight, I hope nsci didn't steal the pick! I'm enjoying the read, thanks for linking me!
from herdarlinsin :
Now if that ad had been about women, I'd jump on it in a heartbeat. But since I'm the way I am, Bisexual men swingers do nothing for me. Pity isnt it?. Gimme a woman any day and I'll be a happy lil' camper.
from roebean :
Hey Maven - 89.3 is the best station ever - listening to it now (and always)! Still enjoying your musings and got quite the kick out of the BJ situations :)
from lettynow :
I live in southern Cali and Im freezing!! I keep the heater on in my car right now. I know its really no that cold. But buuurrrr!! Hope you have fun.
from abittergirl :
By the way, thanks for adding me to your list; I love your diary. LA is not that bad, I love living here, although its hardly the mecca of opera. However, the weather is pretty nice. :) Have a great trip.
from goingloopy :
I could have written most of your 100 things list...except that (a) I am a Taurus with an addictive personality and (b) my credit sucks rocks and (c) I do have pretty decent legs, but the booty requires much gym time to create and maintain. :)
from jeanlicious :
hey lady, thanks for the kind mention in your buh-lo-ha-hog! it was v. nice seeing you this past weekend, only sorry we didn't hang out more. i am back in nyc and still reeling from the weekend, shocked, truly, but happy :). had dinner with ang, jason a, and christina sunday, and saw million dollar baby with them last night...v. good, check it out! how is life in st paul? thanks for taking me to that bomb-ASS restaurant when i was there, yum yum! talk to you soon, jeannie
from vickithecute :
"every increment of time that passes still feels like a victory" - VERY eloquently said. Some people use a cliche like "taking it day by day" but you've really summed it up in a fresh way. Stay strong - I'm a fairly recent reader so I'm not all that familiar with your situation, but in a lot of ways it sounds like something I went through about a year and a half ago....and it wasn't until I started taking an interest in other people that I started getting over him.
from coldandgray :
cool list, very nicely done.
from roebean :
Got hooked the second I saw the "Are you there god..." layout. Love it & the writing :)
from to-my-heart :
Just ignore him and do nothing. So not worth your time.
from to-my-heart :
Hi I like your site.
from goingloopy :
Thanks for adding me :) I can't believe those butt nuggets changed the cover and "updated" the book. How lame. You don't mess with classics, man.
from lettynow :
THat shower thing just happened to me!! Newly single always had a man around to worry about drain issues, until I was bathing my feet in my dirty shower water, Bllllaaahh!! Came across your banner "where anonymity and exibitionism get to gether and go bowling" perfect! Adding you to my buddys off the drainage issue alone :)
from pinkrevolver :
