from cameraeye : |
pssssst, ...over here... (and thanks.) |

Sure enough. Just need a little something to write about. |

holy cows where did you get that Boris Karloff pic? |
from glibertine : |
Psst...happy turkey or tofurkey or mashed potato or some kind of day. |
from glibertine : |
I have Brick in my Netflix queue. The preview I happened to catch on TV intrigued me immediately. |
from glibertine : |
It makes me ridiculously happy when you update. I still can't find adequate words to express how beautiful I find your diary. |
from cameraeye : |
it's always nice to see new posts here. |
from pablo : |
All will be revealed - nothing going on in there of interest, promise! This week or next, new start....px |

Thank you so much for the add, I'm flattered. I can't find the right words to express how beautiful I find your diary. |
from sangiovese : |
have been away from d-land a lot, just caught the gorgeous bent tree - thanks for that! |
from shadow-box : |
"Sunsettree", would make the perfect Fool card for a Tarot deck. Looking forward to new possibilities, the desire to explore, wander, drift... yet the roots of the tree remind you where your feet are, so you don't trip and fall. It's a beautiful image :) |
from manta-ray : |
your photography = ♥ |
from likeaforest : |
o, you're right! they're really great. |
from neptune66 : |
Thanks. It's funny how I never really thought too much about birds until I started photographing them. A view through a lens can open new perspectives on things that are otherwise oft overlooked and ubiquitous--simple things like the natural beauty happening on any given afternoon right outside the window. I'm kind of(fully) addicted. |
from likeaforest : |
that picture is seriously great. |
from elasticskies : |
why thank you! |
from hairburner : |
Your photos are also not showing due to the bi-monthly Diaryland crash. Everyone is reloading. More photos please. I love them. |
from pulse-tone : |
thank you. |

A Tigger Tush Toast right back to you! Happy Holidays! |

Moviegrrl suggested a visit, I just fell in love with your photographs and had to add you to my favorites. |
from moviegrrl : |
thanks for adding me, and WOW! Consider yourself added RIGHT NOW! |
from missleigh : |
I always look forward to your Halloween shots. |
from neptune66 : |
Hello again, to make your entry titles show up on your pages just add %%short_description%% to your entries template wherever you want the title to appear. Works just like date and time. Hope that helps. BTW, when I was a kid, PBS 13 in NY would run a double feature of golden-age horror every Saturday night. Would get so excited when that little Universal airplane would fly around the globe... -B |
from likeaforest : |
but according to imdb.com, dgg is still working on the confederacy of dunces! or maybe you have some secret indie movie connection? new orleans is a very strange place indeed. when i visited a few years i ago i was suddenly overcome with the most curious desire to hunt down trent reznor so i could egg his house. |
from explodingboy : |
An owl came to visit us at our studio a few weeks so back. it swooped onto the landing and perched itself on the railing outside our coffee room and tried to stare us out. I stared back - it won. My coffee drinking buddy is from Macedonia and got worried about Macedonian bad luck superstition stuff and telephoned Great Uncle Mick, his families leading expert on such matters. I had heard stories about Great Uncle Mick and how he has never said the number four. When my coffee friend was a kid they would yell. How many legs has a rabbit got, Uncle Mick? Three, Five Ahhhh I dont know Uncle Mick would answer and scowl. I met Uncle Mick once at a wedding and found it terribly hard not to ask. Latter after drinking much wine I could resist no further. Anywayz Great Uncle Mick asked which way it was looking Is it looking left or right --- or at the moon? looking straight at us, was the answer oh dear that sounds really very very bad said Uncle Mick. I could feel the owls stare strengthen. But then Uncle Mick let out a great laugh that bellowed across the room, even from the little mobile phone, ahh three five I dont know he yelled and laughted. Say hello to your mum for me and hung up. Satisfied the Owl said Ho, ho, ho and flew off into the night. Just thought you should know eb* |

jerk-off boys = THUMBS DOWN. the new owl photo is so beautiful. i wish i could have one just like it. usually owls frighten me, but that one looks so small and vulnerable. |

lovely lovely. |

i always look forward to your entries. |

film jurist! - how terribly posh! |
from likeaforest : |
i wonder, are you ever able to uncover the back story on the pictures you find? i am very nosey and would like to know what would compel a small child to have her picture taken in a graveyard amongst her doll collection! |
from likeaforest : |
ah!! that is the best picture ever. |

some of these latest pictures, the dog especially, are just heartstoppingly gorgeous |
from shadow-box : |
http://shadow-box.diaryland.com/040228_34.html I'm trying my hand at this too. Some days, only a picture can say how you feel. :) |
from sturge : |
Sweetness. I didn't think too much about the Captain setting his sails, because honestly, I thought he was already gone. But as the day went by, I could actually remember where I was sitting on the floor every time an episode came on. How long are you staying for SXSW? I'm going out of the way to make sure I'm not busy this year. For reals. |
from eta-c : |
I wasnt sure if that iceicle was a was a large turkey baster and i saw lots of faces in the landscape to, kind of like mother shiptons wishing well and it also seemed that after the picture was taken on another that the little girl set her stocking on fire then got bludgeoned by her brother...ok :) enough ramble...I always love what you find. |
from ambrosiah : |
Wowzers. Very nice diary you've carefully put together here. I am honoured to have found it. |

!!! i was lured into picking up ms. moore's book solely based upon david sedaris' recommendation as well! (i saw him last week at the very last stop on his tour.) so far though, i'm not nearly as taken with the book as he seemed to be. drats. o, and incidentally, those halloween pictures were amazing. i keep wondering where all your lovely photos come from... |

Your diary remains a constant source of wonder. Thank you for it. |

solly looks an exectional model and looks like s/he is lapping up the international attention. Fang the Wondercat (http://explodingboy.diaryland.com/wondercat03.html) also enjoyed international exposure with her fortune telling page - even getting an email complaint from India when she dished out some unwelcome advice. Tell Solly that - Fang say's g'day. cheers eb* |

the place in my neighborhood seemed to be selling whole photoalbums for about $10 a piece (at that time they had about 4 or 5) and then about 6-9 flat file drawers packed with snapshots. Most looked like they were from the 70s-80s, lots of weddings. Not sure how much they were a piece. .50? |
from warmbit : |
Thank you for your comment, I am most humbled as I think your collection is amazing. |
from habbit : |
where do you get your pics from? found a thrift shop in brooklyn with many 100s of old snapshots, thought you might like them. |
from nebulous615 : |
[grin] your new car? |
from missleigh : |
A Honda civic or accord will be as reliable as a good friend, and you could buy one a few years old and still feel safe about the reliability (and save a few bucks too). a manual transmission will not only save you money with the buying price, but it will save you possible costly transmission problems down the road. My two cents. Good luck! ;) |
from nebulous615 : |
well, i've heard the Toyota Corolla (or was it Camry?) is the best value right now for what it includes as the standard package. I bought a Ford Taurus (after being determined to buy a Honda Civic) and am really happy with it. Regarding manual/automatic -- hmm, you've got me there. I've yet to learn manual. I heard manual gets better gas mileage. But I'll stop talking about cars now before my lack of mechanic-sense shows through. [grin] |

Wow -- thanks for the compliment! I'm glad I can still be amusing. I like your stuff quite a bit too. |
from spindle : |
I have just seen a trailer for The Man on the Train (whose title is actually something in French, but my French is not up to the task of writing it here), which I thought looked intriguing when I first heard about it but too tricky a concept for very many people to be able to pull off without fucking up somehow and making a dull movie that could have been better. and I hate it when that happens. but Patrice Leconte is directing, and he pulled off The Girl on the Bridge so very well (even with what I thought was a flawed script -- the last third drags) that now I am terribly excited to see the film. when or if you see it, we should compare notes. |

these are my timid first few steps back into diaryland. give me an entry or two or three or ten to settle back into the way things work here. it's good to see you're still around. |

Hey Meism, the note to me is very compementary considering the thousands of diaries updated every hour on this site.Just a thought-how about Pablo, you and I meet in NYC right around New Year - an experiment we can enrich by rollicking drinking sessions,we can play art whores...I can play Mom and nutrition consultant to both of you, if things don't quite work as smoothly as they should. But me thinks that both of you may end up with leaden, immovable feet after all of your travelling.Anyway,I do wish you a happy and holy road trip. |
from bother : |
mmm, stripy tights. foxy. |
from fleurdelyse : |
Wow-Wee,thanks so much to you, my first note(remember this WAS virgin territory)arrived.I discovered your diary while randomly looking through diaries and was struck with your lucidity and aesthetic sense.I and many others would love to see your writing once again in the great labyrynth that is diaryland.I do hope that you are never swayed to abandon your diary permanently. The pablo diary recommendation is out of this world. It is by far the best recommendation that I've received so far. Love from the GREAT WHITE NORTH. |

i just saw a very good movie that i liked for how utterly indescribable it is. it's not about anything, and because it's not about anything there are all these everyday things that come through and come through beautifully. themselves and nothing more. it's called five senses and is several stories woven together, each about a life that would be ordinary except for the unusual significance (because i study semiotics i use this word too much) of one of the five senses in each. if i get any say in the matter, your new year's resolution should be to see this movie. |
from peth : |
yes, but aren't you glad I am silly? |
from central-red : |
thanks, dawg. i crack me up too. |
from peth : |
Now I will be eternally jealous of you, for seeing my little Vermeer girl in the (oiled) flesh. Raar! (at least I got to see my little goldfinch by Fabritius at the met.....) |
from peth : |
oh, I wanted to thank you for the glimpse at your shexy legs...i think I have those same shoes..... |
from spindle : |
I liked Girl on the Bridge for how it managed to be so intensely erotic without ever resorting to sex. And on an entirely different note, have you seen Tuvalu? It's a fabulously surreal film that came out of Germany a couple of years ago, about a cathedral in the middle of nowhere that's been turned into a swimming pool and the people who run it and the people who frequent it. Which is of course not a compelling description of the film, but it's a film that defies description: if I started describing my favourite parts it would just seem impossibly weird but on the screen it works delightfully. |
from fluf : |
dear m, no i have not. it sounds spacious, french and vacuous, which probably means the same thing as spacious... like i like. who is it by, and is it new? and keep updating, else i'll tickle your chin. thanks. |
from peth : |
Now I am going to have to watch Naked again. it has been much too long....that was the movie that forced the love of Thewlis down my throat like so much wad of dirty sock....my esophagous is backing up in pleasure just thinking about him.............. |

i will not leave you a note here, i promise. oh! well, now that I am here, junking up your notes page, let me just whisper, "witches!! and warn you that if'n you don't update soon, I will find you and make you wear strange euro-trash leotards and dance with young Spanitch teen heartthrobs from the early 80s....in BARBED WIRE. mwahhahahaha |
