Glad to see you back...glad to see you're doing well.
from decemberguy :
You make me want to move to Wisconsin..who knew there was a prevelence of hipsters in Milwaukee. Other than Laverne and Shirley.

You sound like you're doing awesome..rock on with your not-good self!!
from snot85 :
Found your diary through a listing of users who liked 25th Hour. Awesome movie. Anyways, I read an entry where you were in Atlanta. I was just wondering where you were from 'cause Atlanta's not far from here. Hmmm...well, I enjoyed your diary....so....c-ya!
from decemberguy :
Thanks for the note..I guess I'm just trying to come to terms with the loss of my past. Anyways, read your entry today and it sounds like you're having fun. Everytime I think of Milwaukee, I think of Alice Cooper giving that speech in Wayne's World.
from blue88 :
It's funny, your escape to the tub. Calm, wet stillness. I escape women by dancing at a club or cycling. Feeling my muscles do things, activity, movement something that's repetative and mezmerizing. Anything to block out the constant ringing in my head (Supposedly, every 7 minutes as some have suggested about men we think about sex.) and the innifectuality of my self to be completely in the moment, true when it matters most. Your lucky,in a way have a constant reminder every month about who you are, the power of your sex and what you can create out of your own body. A being with the spark of unconditional love, innocent and unique. While we, we have the twin battle of protection and destruction inside us because we feel so removed from the process of that creation. (Watching men create art is the closest I've seen to the nearest spark of birth. -which is why I'm so enamoured of artists, coreographers, designers.) I digress.....Our burdens are what they are, slaves to our biology, and we are judged by civilization how well we carried them in the end. It's the process that's terribly interesting....Which is one of the reasons why I read you diary....
from guitarpoet :
hey...hows life been treating you? i hope its well...ive been really busy lately. im living life actually. ive been brought back from the dead. i have found the love of my life and my future wife. you know its weird. she is the missing peice..its weird..i mean she is my soul mate too...but my flesh too. i dunno..i always thought that you had one soulmate but maybe there are many little peices spread out of my being for a purpose? but she is the main peice. she believes it..she told me that she knew everything...she is the only person that knows me completely through and through..she brought me back to life. but im sorry to babble about that...its something i have been wanting to tell you. life is so confusing..i got a phone call in the middle of the night from a friend..he told me that one of our childhood friends is in a coma...its weighed really heavy on me. but i wanted to tell you that you were on my mind. much love kate.
from blue88 :
You have another Journal? My god I'd be scizoid if I had to enter ideas in more than one journal. Your generations better at multi tasking I guess. Depression, An't it the truth, that's winter for you. Just hang on and the sun eventually shines longer and brighter, that's my thought about it all. Masterbation helps in the short run, during the dark months. Plus, sleeping in if you can budget the time inside classes and parties. but I'm certain that you know that. Your one of the few women who'll even admit to "self pleasure" as a good force Vs. a sin or not at all, in your writing. I think that's cool.....
from decemberguy :
Holy Schnikees, Batman! I wondered what happened to you..and hope your holidays were warm and alcohol laden. And yes, I am living the American dream. Emphasis on Dream..Nice to see you back-Bryan
from blue88 :
I hope the new year finds you well. You haven't done many entries lately. Is everything O.K.?
from sippytrip :
haha being female has never been my biggest advantage
from decemberguy :
I'm really sad that you're feeling down. If there's anything I can do to cheer you up, let me know. Today, I'm thinking of you..
from othelladub :
let me know what you think of my "beautiful women" power-rankings. certainly, there may be omissions, oversights, and glaring mistakes: that's why I need your help!!!
from decemberguy :
Hope you feel better..
from decemberguy :
What did you think of them in concert? I saw them earlier this year, and had a blast.
from decemberguy :
Glad to hear about the good stuff in your life. Keep on Trucking!
from tay-parker :
You'll have to let me know what your LJ username is so I can add you. My username is atypicaltaylor.
from inscrutable1 :
is "leather" a song? who sings it?
from decemberguy :
How someone as cool as you could have ever came from Houston is completely beyond me. Oh and btw, thank you for alerting me to the previously unknown phenomenon that women masturbate.. you shocked me!=)
from pixiechicks :
hi...i saw a mix tape you listed (8-09-03) on mix-tapes i was wondering how do i get a copy?
from sampsman :
I too like to think of myself more of an artistic type individual, but maybe I've just been faking it for a while. In high school, I was always good at math . . . and I remember scoring rather high on the math portion of SAT (just over 700), but it was never anything that interested me, so I took the required math classes in college and nothing more, and that was 8 years ago. Now I can't even balance my checkbook. I was just as surprised as anybody not only with the IQ score, but with the assessment afterward.
from decemberguy :
Film School.Do It.Yer Cool!
from decemberguy :
The Hunger are still big in Houston? I remember when they were a techno band, and they used to be played on 93Q...now that's old!
from tay-parker :

from versaillers :
Yeah, I know...it sounds too good to be true. But I am going to lost money on the deal because I don't know if anyone will buy my old tickets. But, hey, I have pit tickets to see Radiohead and you bet I'm going to be the first to stand in line so I can be in the very front. Oh yea. Thanks for the notes! 10-4 Versailles
from guitarpoet :
it was good talking to you on the phone...keep in touch!!! much emphasis put on those marks* heh.
from iamlucy :
thank you for you're note, that was very nice. Peace and love my friend.
from iamlucy :
hey, found your journal through austin. He was right about you, you seem like an awesome person. Have a good night. Peace
from versaillers :
"Go With the Flow" just puts me in a good mood, every time I hear it. The rest of the album is good, sometimes too brash, but mostly nice rock music. I like it a lot. I'm adjusting to it's forwardness because I generally like laid back, thought-provoking, minalistic, shoegazer music, but this is good, too. 10-4 Versailles
from sampsman :
yes. Her name was elisabeth Scott as well, but we all called her Scottie. Guess its a more common name than I thought.
from sampsman :
I find it odd you have a female friend named "Scotti." She doesn't happen to be 27 years old and from WV?
from versaillers :
Ah, shucks, what a nice thing to say! I was worried that after not updating for at least a week and a half (a cardinal sin here), everyone would have forgotten about me, so I loved getting your note! Yes, Fourth of July needs to be re-thinked. But I guess it's apt that to celebrate America, everyone is drunk and everyone is firing off explosives in residential neighbrohoods, nearly killing everyone around them. Brings a tear to my eye! Thanks again! 10-4 Versailles
from guitarpoet :
i have never been completely understood the way that you understand me..if i had a soul mate it would be you.
from onea :
Don't worry, I still love Donna Tartt. I just rotate my favorites list occasionally. Hmm. As for Neil Gaiman, I'd say go with American Gods first, if you're looking for a novel. Otherwise read the Sandman series of graphic novels first, if you can borrow them (expensive!). If you can't borrow Sandman, read the two Death graphic novels (Death: High Cost of Living and Death: The Time of Your Life). Not so expensive since there are only two of 'em. And yes, The Little Friend is that bad.
from decemberguy :
Probably Fox in the Snow or The Boy Done Wrong Again..
from onea :
Please tell me you're not slogging your way through The Little Friend. Do yourself a favor and put it down now. Go reread The Secret History instead. *shudders at the memory of that book*
from guitarpoet :

You're saying there is such a thing as a good night spot in Houston? Wow..when did that happen?
from renigin :
Hiya-like I'm Rhoda on Mary Tyler Moore or something. Anyway, how did you decide what you wanted to do after high school? Did you just know or did you go to college and figure it out then?
from guitarpoet :

from blue88 :
Me? I'm 35 so I was huge Bowie, Pixie, and INXS fan back in High school. (Yeah I saw new wave as a kid visiting relatives in London in 1981. All the teenagers there were wearing filght suits with safety pins in them which as a twelve year old, I thought "That's COOLLLL" I came back from that expierence with clash, Adam Ant and The Specials tapes and the seeds were sown. All my little friends in the school band then were into KISS and arrowsmith so I instantly became FREak ) So, I was kinda punk, till I went to a Skinny Puppy Show. From then on I went kinda Goth but the scene here was far too stuck up. That group identity thing kind of feel away after College. I grew up (early) in Rosland B.C. which is sort of like Aspen for people with coloured money (Blue fife's) Then my family moved to the sub's of Vancouver B.C. After that I moved into Van. to go to college and university. From there I moved for almost a year to London, England. But my job touring with a U.S. Metal band was cut short by Gulf war I. And everyone I ended up bunking with got throw out of they're sqat in Brixton, London ( Harlem without the guns.) Came back to Vancouver and, other than a few short rock tours and Theatrical tours across Canada and down to Sanfrancisco, this has been it so far....Now my musical taste is so off balance I really don't know how to describe it. Electronica-dance/Swing-rock/folk/punk/pop/-oldies/Classical-worldbeat-soundscape/ Hell, I even own a Spice girls C.D. given to me be my niece, and I think Sporty's got some great pipes. I have no Shame.....Outside of that I'm into Mountainbiking to stop from becoming that middle age guy who doesn't exercise. And photography for fun. Oh, my god I'm becoming a jock....
from renigin :
mydyingbeta...fun and fearless. I like your diary.

The Mall? *cringes* I hate malls. I have my reasons ;)
from blue88 :
Red a couple of your entries, P.S. where do you live? I guess it's kind of mid-west or down the coast here from iglooana. You posibly live in some semi suburbia which, in it's self, isn't a crime. (yet) Kind of into punk, definatly pixies And you've probably grown out of some dire highschool goth phase and glad of it. But kept up on the essential reading. I once new a girl (Ex Roomate) who was a gother in Salt Lake City. Now that must have been a freaky experience, with all of those freshly scrubed CIA clone guys and "valley of the dolls" women. She moved up here to Victoria, were she's now a classical piano student and has the gift of perfect pitch. Or at least that's what the letter some institution sent her, that I opened, said so....
from blue88 :
A girl who likes Kierkegaard. A Good Danish Philospher, your my kind of woman. His discussion on the "leap of faith" is one of the few things I completely got during Existialism 250 back in the college days. And I've tried to varing degrees to follow so I can at least say I have some sort of moral guide to my meandering approach to life. Wow, you have some heavy influences going on there which is just great. But I still probably wouldn't have the nerve to talk to you in a bar let alone ask you if you've ever tried a Caesar. Thanks for the mention on your profile, I'll have to give your diary a read when I have time. Unfortunatly I have to get up early and set up a show for 40 scotish bag pipers tomorrow and god knows who else. But, then again I could be working in a cubical somewere so it all evens out in the end. once again, thanks for the read....

from captivated- :
The queen and you eh? Hmm I think ill take that drug test now, i am pretty bored. So what do you think about all this war stuff that's going on?
from captivated- :
...
from onea :
I loved Kavalier and Clay. I tried to find one of the entries I wrote about the book but gave up. I tried to stretch it out forever, I was enjoying reading it so much. The characters were so frustrating--I just wanted them to be happy! Did you read the book Wonder Boys too? The movie was very faithful; it's an enjoyable read plus you get all the interesting stuff they left out of the movie.
from tay-parker :
I'm glad you liked it! I'm writing a review of it tomorrow for the campus paper. It's a long read, but it goes by pretty quickly. So, so fun. --Tay "Parker"

from captivated- :
TRL is ... just dumb. I can't stand anything MTV related damnit! heh
from decemberguy :
I just picked up that All American Rejects Cd. Despite the lead singer looking like the spitting image of the prettyboy guy from Smallville, the CD sounds ok. Swing,Swing is a great song..btw Purple hair rocks!
from captivated- :
Whic name would you like to be randomly plugged by since I don't remember your name lol? Have you ever told me? No I don't think you have =\ mystrious one aren't we ;)
from captivated- :
Haha bill and teds bogus journey is a great 80's flick (i think it was 80's anyhow.
from decemberguy :
The actual title of the song is Kate(army)..that could be your nickname..Army Kate..or maybe I'm just a dork..
from onea :
Hee, every time you mention your name in your diary, a little voice inside my head starts singing "KATE! KATE! KATE! Na, na, KATE! KATE! KATE!"
from decemberguy :
Relationships are like painting. Sure it's hard, and other people might not understand why you do it, but if you're know in your heart that you're doing the right thing, then all the work you're doing is worth it. Nothing in life comes easy. That is, unless you're dad is an oil baron ex-president. If so, give me a call...
from captivated- :
There's actually a class named "romanticism"?
from onea :
Ooh, I heard her do Cooling in '01 and she ended the show with 1000 Oceans. Some people violently hate Cooling but I love it! It always makes me a little weepy (as do Frog on My Toe, Playboy Mommy, etc.).
from onea :
It was so kickass to hear Precious Things. She played practically my dream set list except I would have liked to hear "Sister Janet" and "Cloud on My Tongue," which are also two of my favorite songs of hers. Add "Sugar" to that mix and you have a small sampling of my favorites. :)
from tay-parker :
I've gotten in the habit of reffering to all the guys I have feelings for as boys. Women do mature faster, afterall. --Tay "Parker"

You always write beautifully.

Ramen noodles are okay but Vanilla coke ?! Bah! lol. sorry I just have an extreme dislike for vanilla coke and Avril Lavigne. Now I'm hungry =\
from decemberguy :
I dont know if you were reading when I covered this but for the longest time I was fixated on being Troy Dyer, in Reality Bites. The smart ass slacker.. Unfortunately, what I came to realize is that in order for that to work you have to a)look like Ethan Hawke and and b)I will never be able to be that cynical. Still though, unequivocally the movie of my generation..and a part of me will always want to be that guy..
from captivated- :
Heh I still bite my lower lip.
from tay-parker :
I definitely know what you mean about Reality Bites... Ethan Hawke in that movie is my ideal. I've met Ethan Hawke. Mmmmmm. --Tay "Parker"
from onea :
Your latest reminds me of a great quote from a graphic novel I recently read: a man says to a woman, "Wanna fuck? For purely medicinal purposes." In a footnote, the (female) author says, "Please note, this statement would actually never work on any living female, including me."
from captivated- :
Ooo fun quizzes!! Heh good luck on the blind date! Let em know how it all goes down =)
from captivated- :
I feel worn out 24/7 and I get like 9+ hours of sleepa day, heh. So for your sake and mine, i hope we both stop feeling so worn out! I also hope your Valentine's day was amazing! 2.15.03 (I'm going to try to remember to date my notes)
from decemberguy :
how about "Song for the Dumped" by Ben Folds, or "Idiot Wind" by Bob Dylan
from captivated- :
Your dreams are definitley weird, but interesting =o)
from sampsman :
hey, that website you gave me. That was funny!! And the said thing is, 95 percent of it would probably be true if the role was reversed.

Heh ...and that my friend is Zen. Or at least as close of us will be getting.

That poem. Wow. I'm going to print it out and frame it... ;)

from pillow-wept :
hi. thanks for your note! its funny, though...i DO feel old, and im not even 25 yet, so i have no real reason to feel as such. oh well, i guess. anyhow, i'll be stopping by again to read your diary. i like what ive seen thus far... x

from guitarpoet :

from onea :
Woo hoo, yay for redheads! Yeah, I have some pretty messed up dreams, always have. I loved Kavalier and Clay too, btw. I streeeetched it out so I wouldn't finish it too quickly.
from tay-parker :
I finished "the adventures of Kavalier & Clay" the night before last, and it's really, really good. Funny thing... the note that I posted to you, I acutally meant to post under the name of my other d-land diary (the-longshot). So, feel special, you (and whoever sees this) are only person who knows it's mine :-\ --Tay "Parker"
from captivated- :

(Still reading through your backlog, so I don't know if you've written about this) As far as novel-writing fear goes, have you ever considered doing a zine? Go to panderzinedistro.com and order a copy of Stolen Sharpie Revolution. I think you'd be good at it. :) (Love your diary, btw.)
from captivated- :
lol i like my comments lol.
from decemberguy :
You make Wisconsin sound cool...cooler than Texas at least.
from seanandjacob :
Do you ever get the feeling... Nevermind, visit us at SeanandJacob.diarylan.com I'm not going to lie. My girlfriend is a telemarketer so help me jesus.
from lucidite :
It's hard to have any pity for those telemarketers... The only reason I have a parsec of sympathy is because there was a time when I needed to work as one! Honestly, the best way of answering to the "Is so-and-so there?" has to be "Oh, they've just joined a cult. I'm expecting a death warrant some time soon. Care to leave a message?". While I never got that answer, some people did!!
from allornothing :
Indeed I have seen the film. The books better. "Did your hood get jumped on?' 'Yeah, how can you tell?' 'You can see ass prints'." Or something to that effect. Love it. Chabon and Tobey McGuire (only in that film) rock my socks off.
from captivated- :
I'd write something interesting here if I had an exciting life ;\
from captivated- :
Have fun, and enjoy your flight :)
from lucidite :
It's not just Americans that think they van sit on their ass all day, eating food and not gain a few pounds -- many Canadians suffer from this disillusionement also... I also have to comment that you're not the only one that has "normal" preppy friends but that the the rest of them are considered "weird". Apart from a few exceptions, all of mine are NOT what you consider normal. And I wouldn't want it any other way!
from captivated- :
lol I call shotgun!

from guitarpoet :
i appreciate your advice..
from sampsman :
my friend just read harrison bergeron for his college american lit class. He's 28 and its the first time he ever read anything by vonnegut. He said he liked it a lot. My response: "what took you so damn long to join the club?"
from captivated- :
Heya! I so wish we had an art museum here that way I could kind of feel like I knew what you were experiencing as you were walking through the museum, but we're not so lucky here in Ocala, Florida =\
from doctorescape :
I came across your diary quite suddenly and was intrigued. What is your system of rating people (with which I am unfamiliar) and what are the criteria? In this world, it is indeed so difficult to know what to think about anyone that I would like to know your ideas on the subject. Yours, Dr Escape
from decemberguy :
Thanks for the encouragement..
from captivated- :
That is disgusting! I really did not want to get that mental image...ugh...

i like your perception of things..the pixies are one of my favorite bands..keep in touch by sending notes
from lucidite :
Ah man, after my breakeup, every time I'd meet people, they would ask about Ex and then I'd have to break it to them that he'd left. It came to a point that if they would ask "But, why?!", I would turn around and not answer them. People don't understand sometimes...
from decemberguy :
Thanks for your note. I enjoyed your diary, and have placed you on my favorites list. I can't wait to read more. Hope everythings great where you are, and Happy Holidays...
from captivated- :
Ah! I was going to send you an e-christmas card and I dont have your e-address? =\
from lucidite :
Well, at least you had the conscience of mind not to marry him... I did and am now going for a divorce! Good to know that there are people that don't like the top 40 also!
from captivated- :
Hey! thanks for adding me I always appreciate a fellow reader. And insomniac? You got that right, thank you for the kind words, I'll get to reading yours momentarily. But why don't you go on glassyeyed?
from sampsman :
uhm, he thanks for the note. I've heard of sugar ros, but only their old stuff about three years ago. Not the new album, perhaps I will give it a listen. Have fun on your winter break, I still wish I got one of those!
