Having thought I was going to die (when I had cancer), to actually having my husband dead on the ground in front of me for 8 minutes (thats a loooooooonnnngggg time) before they could restart his heart, I would say that Im trying to live my life by those very standards. | I suspect they had no idea. They were raised just after the war, for the most part. So there was this strict institutionalization of social, moral, and religious ideas that they ended up reacting to in all sorts of interesting ways. As a consequence, now that at least in theory there are many more alternative styles of living, we all still have this perception of what normal is supposed to be. And for those of us who deviate from the norm, yeah, there's a lot of anger and frustration there. |

| The cat got caught in a stray trap! He's very much an outdoor cat nowadays, so we loaned him to Julia's mom for roving around at her farm. He seems to really enjoy it, although I miss him. |

| Sadly no re: the cat. We occasionally get Craig's List tips. The last potential sighting was a few miles north, near a swanky neighborhood. Maybe he wanted to be a stray again for awhile. Who knows. And yeah, the suburbs are boring, no one talks to anyone else, and whatnot, but after the loud, nonsensical humanity of Baltimore, I am down for some soulless white monoculture. |
