Not all Catholic churches are like that. In fact, that sounds very evangelical/baptist/non-denomonational christian. The Catholic churches I've been in have been more about having a personal faith and personal relationship with God. Sure, there is dogma and there are "rules," but I haven't encountered much of "everyone must believe what we believe." Maybe there is another Catholic church you could go to? Although the masses and traditions are the same, the values and politics at each parish are very different. Good luck!
from machogirl7 :
10/21- Jodi! Come visit me. I will make you a birthday cake and Jerome will be nice to you. I promise. ;) You're welcome anytime. ((hugs))

Ha! The comma. Now that I think about it, I should have written my essay on the colon and turned it into a paper about the digestive track. Maybe then it would have been semi-interesting. Get it? Semi? Colon? Ha. Groan. Don't blame me, blame my dad--he gives me all my corny genes.
from judybean :
psst.. I just e-mailed you some hopefully helpful bits!
from judybean :
9/24: By attending RCIA classes you are totally not giving yourself over to the church. The classes are designed just for people who are seeking God and think the Catholic church could be the right path for them and the class will answer questions and explain ideology, why things happen, etc. It's like a computer class. You learn the program and can go from there but by taking the class you aren't committed to using that one program forever. With RCIA you can certainly join the church at Easter if you so desire, but it's all up to you.
from judybean :
9/22: I think a fingernail could be quite interesting. Could be gross, but could be fun. You know, getting dressed up (nail polish) or even getting the spa treatment (wax treatment, buffed nails, etc), working hard all day long (those darn pop tabs!), etc. Fingernails go through a lot you know. At least that was the first thing in my head. Let me know what you eventually choose!
from deb-e-ne-ne :
Finally catching up. Sounds like you've had a rough couple of months. Hang in there kid :) Oh, and about the Catholic wedding thing--it's not necessary to have a mass. This doesn't mean YOUR priest will give you the option, but my parents didn't have a mass, and that was 30 or so years ago. Also, I've seen wedding parties stand up at Catholic weddings. Good luck!
from sbspsd :
Hi there. This is Sepia Reviews. Could you make a custom layout for us? Pul-lease?
from judybean :
9/18: You don't have your wedding as a mass, but the one I went to just this summer (which wasn't a mass) still had the bride and groom sit and the bridesmaids sit in the front row... but ask your priest... you may be able to get around that since it's not a mass. And while the wedding is of course about two people (like you want it to be), there is a sermon and such because marriage is also one of the sacraments and therefore quite holy. Here is the best website I could find so far about things such as Catholic weddings and from this site, I would gather that there are just a few basic parts that are required and you can go from there. Here's the site: http://www.weddingdetails.com/lore/catholic.cfm . But really I would talk to your priest because ultimately he'll be the one to perform the wedding and blessing and will be involved. (And let me note, some of your feelings toward the Catholic church do sometimes worry me because you seem to be building up resentment about them instead of finding out *why* the beliefs and practices exist. And if you have questions, I am pretty good at finding answers). .... And let me also offer my condolences. I know what it is like to lose a grandparent that wasn't ever yours by blood but by feeling. And it's terrible. Peace be with you.
from ray0flight :
(more hugs)
from ray0flight :
Im sorry *hugs*

from judybean :
Ah, the 'look closer' strikes as it always does at times that just seem the most inopportune (though really, when would you ever want it to happen?). With the choice of carefree vs. home-ownership with a stable relationship (marriage) and such already behind me, really I do still struggle with it all. All the time. Sometimes I keep waiting for the feelings to quell but there always seems to be something that comes along and triggers the longing. Like a friend who is going back to school, living on her own, going out every once in a while and just taking whatever classes she wants. But... really all she wants is all I have (home, husband, 1.5 kids). I don't think it ever goes away.. you just have to be comfortable in what you want and know in your heart -- not what people tell you, not what you think other people think you should do -- what is right for *you*. I was married and had a child all at the age of 22. Here I am 24 with (nearly) two now. And buying a house. And buying two cars. And working. There's days I want to go and live the 'free' life (you know, just for me), but then... I wouldn't know all that I do now. So really I would never give it up. Not for one thing... especially having Madeline now.
from ray0flight :
it's never to late
from foxgirl0925 :
Maybe father #2 can walk you halfway down the aisle to meet father #1 and he can walk you up to the altar and give you away.... OR father #1 can walk you halfway up the aisle to father #2 and they could both walk you up to the altar and both give you away? Or you could have two father-daughter dances at the reception.
from judybean :
My choice order (for what it's worth): 4, 2, 1, 3. I really love #4!! Something about it is gorgeous!! But really? In all of them you are simply stunning and will be beyond beuuuuutiful on your wedding day!!
from foxgirl0925 :
I can't pick between 1 and 4. I like them both!!! The other two are very pretty as well, but 1 and 4 are my top two!
from foxgirl0925 :
very pretty

Your bastard guestbook wouldn't let me sign. Grr. Give it a kick in the ass. I want you to get a new job because I miss you! Demand computer access or something. Tell them it's required to email me 20 times a day, because I said so. Anyway, since your guestbook hates me, I'll put it here. An icecream cake sounds yummy. Are you going to go over to baskin robbins and buy like 5 of their cakes, and then just stack em all? Hehe. I'm kidding. I'm sure you're gonna find someone who does pretty icecream cakes or something. Anyway, I love the layout. I'm such a fan of black grey and white. Lovely.
from judybean :
I *LOVE* the layout!

from twisted-mind :
Will be keeping your doggie in my thoughts. I know when my dog (whom is my first "child" and almost 13 years old) had to have an operation I couldn't sleep, eat or relax until he was safe at home. Good luck for you both.

saw this website listed in Dear Abby for the National Association for Anorexia Nervosa & Associated Disorders, maybe you can find some resources there. www.anad.org
from ray0flight :
I agree dieting doesn't work ... it should be said.. as you did.. that some people do need to "diet" stay away from the crap food and do some form of exercising. All diets work.. you will lose weight HOWEVER you will put on what you lose as soon as you start eating normally again. WW is good because it's not marketed as a diet. It teaches people to eat properly, healthy and gives them the tools they need to live that way. There are exceptions to all rules though... and different reasons people become fat. :S I dunno .. I have since forgotten my point cause an asshole patient came up and inturrepted me.
from judybean :
*prayers for your exam* ... and.. we don't have asshole reporters, just an asshole editor!!
from unperplexity :
hey, yes everything fine :) but even though im nearly 20, im STILL scared of my parents reading my online diary, so I had to lock it :'(
from vickiediablo :
Uh, I mean you typed the url INSTEAD OF "templates.html"...

from gizmogrey :

from judybean :
Hooray for a date!!! That will be just 10 days (and two years) after my own! ... oh I'm so excited for you! Get your church right away because I had a friend who FINALLY got in agreement for a date with her fiancee and... no church! So they had to change the date! ... but.. I'm so happy for you!!!

from deeqa :
I'd like to say something about the anti war reply thing. I dont want to convert you as such, but you said something about the war in somalia, as a somali myself, and having experienced it fisrt hand I can tell you war is no good, in Somalia it helped nothing if not made it worse, you dont hear anything about it in the news now and I'll guarantee you Iraq will become the same, I am not trying to generalise but it is pointing in the exact same direction. This war wont stop terrorism, it will escalate it, the hatred of these twisted people will grow, more lives will be lost, hearts will break, tears and blood will flow, ignorance and naivety will not change. war is not the solution to everything, in this time and age I expected the coalition forces to come up with something better that bombing. Like why not try to use their CIA and FBI and MI5 for better use that covering up government sectrets and instead bumping off saddam hussein and his regime. I dont know I think I have been ratteling on, reading it over i dont really make sense, but I have to go now, any Q's get to my dairy,
from sleepy-jo :

from deegirl85 :
Wow. I wish you and your father tons of luck in the near and far future. Much Love!
from arizonabay :
password me yo! if i make your list. ;-) btw, i disagree with the supporting troops/war argument. I for instance, don't think we should necessarily have gone in to Iraq yet... however since we are, I think the troops should kick ass and get home safely asap
from unluckystar :
Hi. I just wanted to let you know that I really really love your beautiful layout. I am in the process of setting it up as my own and I want to thank you for making it but also for sharing it. It really touched me. Thanks again.
from deb-e-ne-ne :
Hey, MSU went a lot farther than I'd thought they would. They had a good run, and Texas is a tough team!
from judybean :
Yes, the Catholic Church would frown upon tube tying. Any means of artificial birth control, you know. Sex really is a means of procreation so anything purposefully done to avoid procreation isn't exactly what they'd like. Then again there are always certain situations. And you certainly won't be excommunicated for anything of the sort. Really, what it all comes down to is between you and God in the end.
from smushy :
OMG - weirdest dream ever. EVER!
from judybean :
I'm thinking hotel would be good for you. Especially one that's not a huge hotel so that it's not too busy. That way you could get your school work done at dead times. You know, kill two birds with one stone. At least it works in my head. ... Other option: set up something like a lot of other people have done and collect pity money from people with a page on the net. I don't know if you could set up some kind of account and people could donate via paypal or something. Just a thought. I read an article by the AP a while ago about people who had done that and most of them were to pay off debts and such.
from judybean :
j, if you come to Wyoming I'll let you take over my job here at the newspaper office (I'll quit and stay at home) and while making a bit of $$ you can decide on the whole journalism thing ... or at least it works in my head. I'll keep you in my prayers... I'm sorry you lost your job. big, Big, BIG hugs to you.
from seventigers :
While I've never subbed in the Lansing area, I assume the process to getting a job is pretty much the same. You need to contact the ISD for Lansing, East Lansing, Haslett, or wherever else you intend on subbing. You'll fill out an application verifying you have the proper requirements (like 70 credits, or something). They'll also send you to the police station for a background check and fingerprinting. It's a pretty simple process...but I can't really advise you on anything else.
from seventigers :
Oh. And MSU's financial aid office bites. To that I can certainly attest! I was awarded a large scholarship to attend grad school in Journalism. Upon deciding that wasn't my calling in life, I went to MSU for an undergrad degree in Telecommunications. Did I get a scholarship? Nope. Even worse, one semester of grad school maxed out my annual dollar amount for undergrad so they refused to give me a loan. To make matters even worse, I was 23 years old so not quite old enough to be declared "independent." I WAS MAD AS HELL. I literally stood up in that office scattered with cubicles and yelled at the mean, mean woman. Oh I was mad.
from smushy :
(((hugs))) I am sorry about the job loss - that is CRAP ASS with all capital letters. I think it is wonderful about your volunteer work, you are a great person and I have faith you will find something soon...
from judybean :
I'm so proud of you for volunteering. and p.s. I'll get that url to you asap. (which really means tomorrow)
from judybean :
I swear every time I go to sign your guestbook it won't let me, so that's why I'm going here :) .... Anyway, all I really wanted to say is that I loved A Handmaid's Tale. Ordered it from amazon on a whim about two years ago. And I really liked it. That's all.
from arizonabay :
Ruben rocks. he has the most amazing voice. if you missed the first half last night, you missed him. from the first few notes you know he's smooth. and like they said last night, he'll eventually be known as the Velvet Teddy Bear... i think Gladys Knight said that. It's so true. If you watched last year, like I did (stupid TV addiction), you must also be getting tired of Randy Jackson's "dawg," "man," and "dude." As well as Paula softening up everything, even if they suck, and *everyone* saying "you made it your own." blech, new comments please
from polarbaby :
Hi...I have been really busy and I don't have a membership, so yeah...when I go to log on they wont let me add an entry! It really sucks...but I still am reading everyones thoughts and hopefully I will be able to add to mine soon!
from judybean :
I have absolutely no degree in anything. When in college I majored in music education and elementary education. Quite a far cry from journalism, I know. I was simply in the right place at the right time having a grasp of the English language, being able to write well, and possessing a willingness to learn the position of sports editor at a newspaper office that had an opening. So I can't tell you much about journalism classes college-wise as I never took any, but I could try to tell you anything else you wanted to know!
from deb-e-ne-ne :
It was quite interesting to see Justin get punk'd. Lots of fun :)
from judybean :
psst. for yesterday... you'd make a great mommy. :)
from smushy :
OMG I see her banners all the time. .. we should get a petition going to get them stopped - cause if they are not hers they are this squirrellx person and I am sick of seeing both!
from polarbaby :
I totaly agree, the weather sucks, I hate Michigan! Shoulda went to UCLA...oh yeah, but I wouldn't of had any fun then....shucks! :)
from busted-stuff :
OH my GOD! if you could that would be amazing!!!! O_O Two if you can!
from busted-stuff :
thx.. im trying to find a warehouse member to order me tix LOL.. no luck yet
from busted-stuff :
Jodi I have a question. Are you in the warehouse?????
from busted-stuff :
lol yeah. whatever. just forget about it, she's too immature to keep going on. She'll never admit it but at least she's changed her layout.. LOL.. good grief I say!
from gbaby326207 :
okay then...if this makes you happy. I STOLE IT! Maybe I lie and say that I did that will make you happy because telling the truth apparantly gets me no where here. You did send your friends out after me and I never got your email, I have certain kinds of email addreses on block and I only recieved the one from your hotmail account, I have no reason to lie about not getting it and nor about the layout, I changed mine b/c I figured if I did then you'd stop harassing me but this is just getting worse. If I took your layout why wouldn't I say that I got the idea from your site and it's edited? It's not a big deal and I would have except I NEVER TOOK IT! Believe what you want but I didn't do it and what friend "ratted me out"? idislikehugs? I'm assuming she may have said I stole it, because now I doubt she believes me. Who belives me is not that point, the point is I didn't take it and I will go with that till the end because I it's the honest truth so please stop badgering me.
from beagle47 :
"this is where it all begins. right here..." heh, you just reminded me of a great song-gone-by! peace.
from godai :
Hello Jodi!!! Really million of thanks to you!! Yepp I solved the problem. =) Was quite an idiot...din realise that I changed something elses. But at least they could have got back to me yah? kekeke Anyway, thanks so much~~~~

from crueldreamer :
I still can't figure out how to add you to my list Jess
from rinramiel :
Ooh...makes more sense now...but as thats the kind of typo I frequently make I should've guessed it! Yes, I've got/had paintshop. I will investigate boomspeed later.
from rinramiel :
I'm not allowed to sign you book yet *tsk* They do? Oh good :) Boomspeed aren't allowing free accounts at the moment and I don't want to pay for other people's image hosting *hehe* I have found another site which seems reliable...and the same thing with villagephotos :/ i photoshop? I don't have that I'm afriad so I'm not much help :(
from jenne1017 :
thanks :o)
from undyingsong :
I love the new layout! By the way, I agree with you; you picked the best place possible to read a letter from a college financial aid office.
from busted-stuff :
Hey Jodi can you possibly host an image for me for a little while? i want to put up a pic of me from semi at my site. If not, do you know if there's a place to host free images for real? I can never find any. Grr!

Augh. Why are you locked!

Aw man I'm sorry bout the whole mouth thing, dentists and company tend to make me bitchy too... and I get to have jaw surgery come summer and spend my entire summer with my mouth wired shut... BAH... dentists... -makes face-
from smushy :
Happy Valentines Day!
from saiyanstar :
Hey. Thanks for your note :) Your layout is also beautiful :) ~Star
from busted-stuff :
well hopefully the band will tour in the summer time!! im sure they will.. maybe tim will make a few guest appearances :D that would be pretty cool. How's things going with you and d? do you have msn?
from busted-stuff :
nope. sigh. i wanted to sooo badly but i couldnt have gotten there and have no one to go with. pout. did you?
from wrthlss :
Don't worry about it. There won't be a draft passed. Actually we have been doing well with our volunteer army. A lot of people get a good career out of joining the army and it's something they have a desire to do.
from fluency :
hey. i really appreciate your note. this girl is such an annoyance. isn't is just common courtesy to leave people alone if they specifically ask you to? besides, you just dont go leaving notes everytime you have an opinion to express about someone's diary, or leave advice when you really don't know what you're talking about. yeah, she's frustrating. so, thanks for you note! i just may email andrew. xox
from smushy :
yikes! you be careful out there!
from deb-e-ne-ne :
Cute template! I'm going now to check out vanished... maybe I'll start using a jody-template :)
from shawntasy :
sniff, sniff okay. Thanks very much. See a boy, throw a rock. Hehe, I'm on crack.
from shawntasy :
Okay! My feeling are very hurt! Here I was with my pox ridden self (I have the chicken pox, laugh if you must) all really to go look at your layouts and I need a password. :'( Why are you harrassing the poor pox ridden lady. I just wanted to look. Sighs...I'm on crack.
from solstice36 :
hi, i'm thinking of starting an open diary for people to share poetry, songs, stories and experiences about abuse and rape. i'm leaving notes for all the members of my abused and raped rings to see if there is enough interest to start the diary. if i get at least thirty people to agree to contribute i will create the diary. if you're interested and would like to contribute please let me know by emailing me at [email protected]. thanks :-)
from smushy :
I really enjoyed your entry today...and I just wanted to say hello!
from saiyanstar :

from smushy :

Welcome to the English Majors' d*ring. :) Sorry it took me so long to add you, Real-Life (tm) took over. But welcome nonetheless, it's great to have you. :)
from cartersgirl :

from smushy :
Merry Christmas!
from pearlie147 :
Hey Jodi- I am also having a difficult time finding the time to write (I just read your entry from Dec 17). There is just only so much time in the day and most of it is filled to the brim right now! As you can see, I've only written one entry in over a month and that was a really short one!! Let me know what you decide...Michelle
from jenne1017 :
no way! It is the king of beers, in my opinion. How do you know about this stuff? Where did you get your good taste from?
from gizmogrey :
The Movie Guy sucks, and I know since I am from that town and they all suck. Suck suck suck suck suck. Stale ass popcorn. Just kidding, but he does suck. I hope you keep writing, because if you don't then I will have to and I don't wanna. I am glad everything is well. I would change my name too,but when I picked it,I didn't know I was picking a diary name, I thought it was just a login name,so it makes me laugh when I read it since it reminds me of how much I don't read. Take care! Nena
from sexfiendgirl :
erm.. I just wanted to say that I think that the movie ticket guy meant for you to just go in and watch the movie of your choice. He was too lazy to print of new tickets. At least that's what I thought he meant. I wouldn't know for sure since I'm not him. Anywayz, regards.
from solstice36 :
thanks for joining the raped ring
from hazelberry :
I'm glad you liked my poem. =D Best wishes to you too.
from smushy :
Just wanted to say hello.. sorry that chick is giving you a hard time.. don't worry this drama will pass in time too!
from smushy :
no words.. just (((Hugs)))
from prettyskinny :
This is Elle... I just signed your GBook, figured out who your bf looks like, tried to sign it again, and was brutally rebuffed. I had a feeling that it might reject me, so I had the good sense to copy my message before trying to post it. Here it is: ah! I just figured it out! Your bf looks like a young Ralph Fiennes! You know, from The English Patient and Schindler's List, and the new J. Lo movie... whew! Glad I figured that one out! tootles! Elle
from deb-e-ne-ne :
Did you hear that Eminem is on the short list of candidates for Time's Person of the Year? Pretty crazy :)
from suicidebarby :
who is this one from, is it a cute he? at this rate, i'd clean a fucking mall to have sex with you damn, if it is, can you introduce me, sounds fun!!! mwah mwah ~;P
from ciracira :
Thanks for filling out my survey! It makes me so happy. ^_^ Good luck with getting your work published! ^^
from littleabby :
jodi, girl, i think you misunderstood me. i was being a crackhead for the most part. the only thing i was serious about was reading it. there's only one computer i can read it on, but that's fine...i'm not upset. i'm sorry you feel that i took it too far, don't write me off yet. wait until i say something really stupid! just kidding girl...but seriously--i didn't mean anything to sound so condescing. talk to you soon...
from judybean :
Jodi, I love your layout, but darnit if it's not hard to read. :/ Maybe I'm just old?
from pearlie147 :
ps...i like the new layout.
from pearlie147 :

from deb-e-ne-ne :
Whoo hoo! Congratulations!! :)
from unluckyme :
happy birthday and happy wedding :)
from kara-melissa :
*HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU* I like my job I think.... well I work for my mom, so that makes it all easier. If I don't want to go, it's not a big deal, I don't have to call off or anything, which is nice. I haven't gotten a chance to even LOOK for red ribbon yet! I've had 0 time to do the things that need to be done.... but trust me, as soon as I get a chance, I'll be reading that book. I just loved the other one. The book I have been reading for school lately is "Tristan and Iseult" And I like it a lot. I don't know if you had to read it or not... but I liked it. I promise I'll get on it and find that book!! ~*Kara*~
from jen69 :
happy birthday to choo happy birthday to choo. hope you have a great day
from deb-e-ne-ne :
HAPPY BIRTHDAY :)
from hazelberry :
Thanx for the note. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! =D
from kara-melissa :
I'll take your advice on "red ribbon on a white horse" since I liked "bread givers" soooo much. As for the whole Eminem thing-- He's like my fucking idol- I love that guy. I cant WAIT till 8 mile comes out, I'll be first in line to see it in my town... :) I wanna drive down 8 mile...... the only ghetto I've ever seen is in columbus, OH, and that's not too bad even. not that I want to be in one, but I just want to see what it's like... ya know?
from bettyalready :
You're mom's a fuck-up. Pisses me off when people can't handle being a parent. I have a celtic sun tattoo on my lower back, although it has red/orange flames. Thanks for doing the survey
from kara-melissa :
omg Eminem came to your school... you have got to be the luckiest girl.... he's the hottest guy... anyways, I found your diary through the link for anzia yezierska.... That's cool that you like her too, what book of hers did you read? I read "the bread givers" for school... and I really liked it. You and me are the only 2 that know... hehe have a good weekend!! :) *~Kara~*
from deb-e-ne-ne :
I'm not sure if there's a non-CSS way to do scroll bars, but to derive my layout, I viewed other people's coding and modified it for what I wanted. In the menu bar of your browser, choose view and then source, and the coding is all there for you (unless they've hidden it). It's a good way to learn. Good luck!
from pearlie147 :
Hey Jodi - what happened?? You sound pretty pissed in your last entry. Michelle
from pearlie147 :
(((((((HUGS))))))) You can have a password it you want! I just don't like the password. That's all. :) Hope the hugs help. Michelle
from busted-stuff :
*death glare* YOU HAVE A PASSWORD!!! *GASP* Why? why? why? I must know what is going on in the entertaining life of jodi!!! :-@
from deb-e-ne-ne :
Thank you for allowing me to continue enjoying your diary. Even though I have never met you, I can sympathize with you and laugh with you. I hope you didn't feel you had to lock this because of a stupid person, because that would suck. Have a great day!
from clauren :
Hey thanks for answering my survey on boredombliss. I appreciate it a lot!
from dem0nchild :
heeey....Uh, you offered to help me wiht my layout...i'd love it if you would. Gimme a shout back so we can get it....fixed up or whatever. ttyl.
from deb-e-ne-ne :
Is it just me, or is it incredibly funny that the diaryreviews page has errors?
from lizzymay :
Sounds like you are on the road to success..Good for you. Best on your creativity, too.
from deb-e-ne-ne :
Sending well wishes your way. That must be pretty scary. I hope things work out for you.
from deb-e-ne-ne :
Glad to hear you're ok, even though the accident was pretty scary. I can't even imagine how frightened you were. I freaked out when my boyfriend rear-ended someone at a stop sign, and there was no damage! Good thing Dave was there for you. He's a keeper :)
from faux-happy :
I just wanted to leave you a note so you wouldn't be sad. Congrats on changing your major to english!! All the best, Angela
from ontheoutside :

Did you ever wonder if the animals in the Manger had foot-and-mouth disease? I have...
from goodtimegirl :
Hey, thanks for the note. I enjoy your rantings about school in general, and especially the MSU math dept. Also thought I would leave you a note to spare you from the horrible fate of eating worms. :) Nicole
from ontheoutside :
aww no new notes..."nobody likes me everybody hates me guess i'll go eat worms..." :S
from busted-stuff :
hey jodi! I know youre a huge dmb fan so if you didnt know, they are nominated for a whole slew of awards at the vh1 my music awards. I really really want them to win, so if you have a spare few minutes go over to http://www.vh1.com/mymusic/2001/ and vote for them *G* thanks!
from faux-happy :
I'll leave you a message here because I like knowing people read my diary, and I'm sure you do too. I hope school is going good for you this semester. I had something really witty and creative to say here but I lost my train of thought. So I'll just leave your little note box now, slightly more used. :o)
from ontheoutside :
i'm leaving myself a note because no one else has...hmmm i wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that i lost the link so i couldn't put it on my page? *sigh* oh well.
