| What a peculiar comment about "status". Because almost every one of my friends has gazillions of books, I was amazed when our insurance broker questioned how I could possibly have my books insured for as much as I do. Well ... I have thirty or more years of book-buying to my credit, and for the past several years I've spent around 10K each year on books. He simply couldn't grasp the concept that I like them, I want them, I need them, I don't actually WANT to divest myself of them and I would be devastated if anything happened to any of them. And that, compared with many of my friends, my library is miniscule. I hope Amy (?) does think your head's up your arse - sometimes people like that deserve to be made feel as slight as they are. | Oh, darling; I'm sure you're going straight to heaven for helping the blind and deaf man. My god, what an existence - I can't even begin to imagine. And I understand completely about the crystal! After a couple of years of wondering what I was supposed to do with my mountain of wedding crystal, I eventually just started using the bowls to make trifles in, keep receipts in and fill up with the remote controls, my jewellery and anything else that needed a home.
