I'd like to know where you're headed (particularly if it's Livejournal). If that's OK, then leave me a note at d-land or comment on my LJ - cosytea -dot- livejournal -dot- com. If not, then that's fine too. I'm just nosy ;) Best with everything, whichever way. xxx
from wyndspirit :
Please e-mail writergal @ bookwyrm. us with your update - I discovered after the first year that I can't keep track of updates that come in anywhere else. I don't have (all-day) Internet access on the weekend anymore, and I'm afraid by the time I get to update 100 Books I'll have forgotten your update. Thanks!
from wyndspirit :
I like your attitude. I was going through links and rereading what you said about your speech, and I couldn't help but think of my 16 YO nephew. He always stuttered horribly, years of speech didn't seem to do a whole lot, but he is so outgoing and has so much to say that it has never slowed him down one bit, and I don't think he shuts up long enough to notice if he ever gets teased about it. We hardly even notice it anymore, and, at 6' and muscular, I highly doubt he gets teased about it in school!
from wyndspirit :
I used to have that one posted in my cube when I did tech support. :)
from wyndspirit :
You, too, huh? I've gotten that all my life. "You're mad." "No I'm not." "Yes you are." "No I'm not." "I can TELL. You're mad." "Well, I am NOW!!!" I finally figured out that I have one of those faces where if I'm not smiling--and I am NOT a smiley person, and who smiles all the time anyway?--I look crabby.
from wyndspirit :
I LOVE Robin McKinley! I highly, highly recommend FAIRY GODMOTHER, by Mercedes Lackey. That was the best book I read in 2004.
from tmb :
I like that Shakespeare sonnet, too! And I meant to leave you a note last week to say that I think it's cool that you had the same "favorite things" idea as I did - I've had a lot of fun doing them, and it's about time for me to post April's installment!
from poolagirl :
I really like the new template! WOW! You are good!
from poolagirl :
Thanks for thinking of me when you hear the word "pirate!" YAY!
from tmb :
Interesting meme! And thanks for including me!
from cyberpurple :
We can definitely have a standing date w/ the T13... but comments are good! Loved the phrases/sayings.
from cyberpurple :
Just wanted to send you some (((hugs))) ;o)
from cyberpurple :
I miss you xx
from sophinda :
hey thanks for ur note sweetie! :) xxx
from shanthi :
The world is what it is... you can hate something about it, but the easiest and best thing to do is accept it and do what you can to make it good, despite hating it.
from wyndspirit :
If you sent the update to the Bookwyrm addy, I'm sure I got it. I just haven't updated yet. I should do that before I go to bed tonight.
from wyndspirit :
Congrats on the job! Oh, and I clipped that cartoon today, too. :)
from tmb :
I suspect when you say you hate politics, you might mean the wheeling and dealing and questionable ethics that often accompanies it. I like your description of the importance of learning about the issues and of voting. I agree with you 100%!
from valja :
CONGRATS ON THE JOB, SIS!!!!!! :D *hugs* Just checking in because I had a spare few minutes -- Oxford's keeping me awfully busy, but I will get back into d-land at some point .... Anyway, I am so glad this project worked out for you, it sounds like it'll be a great experience!
from tmb :
Congratulations on the job, Shiloh! It's exciting , and for a very worthwhile issue, too!
from cyberpurple :
I can't believe you didn't mention your news!! You know I'm pleased for you love tho don't you? (((Hugs))) love ya
from wyndspirit :
The dreamscapes are awesome!
from luvabeans :
thanks so much for the add! very cool diary.
from shanthi :
One thing you might try that might help with the virus thing... download Mozilla Firefox and use it as a browser instead of Internet Explorer. You'll still probably come across a few pages that have to be opened in IE, but Firefox is pretty good...
from cyberpurple :
When it comes to computer issues try this one on for size... my care worker tonight accidently unplugged my internet but she plugged it in again when we realised... After she left and I tried to reconnect I couldn't because it said their was no dial tone so I played with the wires and leads but left it with the set up she did - nothing doing. Fastforward about three hours when I'm about to have a hissy fit about my lack of internet and it occurs to me to unplug the lot and start from scratch. And I just wasted three hours of my life being upset because my internet wasn't working when there was one simple connection missing and... So (((hugs))) I totally get you about computer frustrations!
from valja :
I'm with you. "Happy Holidays" while convenient, does get annoying. Liked your list too -- here's one to add -- Hawaiian: Mele Kalikimaka ... Hau'oli Makahiki Hou! :)
from cutiepie1983 :
Hi girl! Just wanted to say hi and that I enjoyed reading your ways to say Merry Christmas and a happy new year. I agree, I haven't heard those words either. But as I saw in the news yesterday, it's offensive to use Merry Christmas because not everybody is a christian...so they are using Happy Holidays, which does NOT mean the same. So MERRY CHRISTMAS girl! ~Nancy~
from valja :
Hi Sis! I am back to being a regular reader and I so I have discovered your Voice On Disabilities section. I just clicked on it -- the first entry has me choked up too now -- you wrote what I have been thinking for a while now ... in my first diary I hardly ever mentioned my CP, in fact I went out of my way *not* to mention it, I didn't want people to immediately think of me as "different" like they did in "the real world". But, you're right. (Especially the bit about being a daughter of God ... that was really touching. Thanks for the reminder.) *HUGS*
from wyndspirit :
Love the candle poem!
from cyberpurple :
You raise an interesting point in that last entry... one I'm not too sure I agree with 100% mind, but still interesting. I think I will write about it tomorrow. I like the look of that comic, I might check it out.
from poolagirl :
WOW! I really like your new template! And, as always, your writing just blows my mind!
from shiloh26 :
Thank you, Claire. That is so true though. There's another quote I absolutely believe in that comes from one of *my* favorite shows, "Lois and Clark." It says, without hope we would die. Yes, we need hope to continue on.
from teacosy :
"What is hell but the absence of hope?" One of my favourite quotes from, of all places, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It rings very true, though. Like the new layout, btw!
from sbojo32 :
Hi, yes, I added you after finding you through Alchera. I really like your writing. While I don't use this journal as my Alchera writing journal, you are more than welcome to read through my day to day whines, ramblings, and other interesting tidbits. The username is firedancer29 and the password is unlockme. Warning: sometimes it does get a little graphic. But I always welcome comments, notes, emails, etc. Enjoy!
from cyberpurple :
I live in a small, small, small town... I hate it. I do the smallest thing when I'm out, my parents hear and it's not pretty.
from cyberpurple :
I hear you hon... the rest of my family those with partners get asked about them, those without get asked "are your courting?" Me? Nada. I have peace of knowing that I don't need to be in a relationship to fulfil my purpose in this life and be happy but I too am irked by the fact that I don't get asked. I suspect it is CP related but I like to try to think that it's because I am so independent. Love and Hugs, Em xx
from shanthi :
sometimes when i say "don't be sorry" or the like, it's because just like you don't know what to say besides "i'm sorry" i don't know what to say besides "don't be." the "i symathize" is a really really good idea though... and one i think i might just adopt too. thanx! :-)
from shanthi :
my name has 14 letters too...
from teacosy :
Is it *so* wrong that I counted the letters in my name? 14! In your face, uh, ...bad luck monsters!
from cyberpurple :
Hi Love, just wanted to say that your card came this morning. Thank you - it's beautiful. LYLAS Emma xx
from teacosy :
"3 whole days without water" = overreaction. 3 whole days with little water and supplies would be more accurate.
from teacosy :
If I overreacted, then I'm sorry. As you pointed out, this is an emotive issue. I feel that suggesting that people stayed because they weren't "smart" enough to leave does over-simplify the issue considerably and it implies a level of choice for people that in some instances simply wasn't there. As for people who received the aid with less than complete gratitude, the fact that they were three whole days without water, witnessing some truly horrific things might influence how they responded. As for abuse towards people who bring aid, it makes no sense to me either but I suspect that's because such people represent a group in society who would have been abusive to authority anyway.
from valja :
Your entry today is right on the mark. It's sickening how radicals have politicized the Katrina tragedy to the extent they have. Plus, a lot of the on-the-ground disorganization was/is due to the fact that the mayor of New Orleans and the governor of LA can't agree on what to do, etc. (PS: LA is a notoriously corrupt blue state, but is that ever mentioned in the news?) And, as regards the victims, I have also noticed how some (not all of course, but enough to make me pause) think they're *entitled* to what they're getting, and more! (like the people in the Astrodome who won't clean up their own trash -- they think the rescue workers, who are volunteers, btw, should wait on them. ) That's just shockingly terrible behavior, given the situation.
from teacosy :
Well, by that logic, stupid=impoverished/sick/health care professionals. From what I'm getting over in the UK, there was no transport laid on for those without cars, or aid for those to sick to leave. And those who did reach the superdome? Spent days in an enviroment where there was too little water and food, where there were mob beatings, suicides, rapes and murders. I get riled because someone online I know has a friend who was in the Superdome. True, he didn't appreciate the magnitude of the storm, but he thought he was going somewhere safe. For his ill judgement, I don't think he deserved that.
from valja :
*phew* I'm glad that is actually common sense after all! (and yes, you did spell it exactly right :) )
from valja :
I really liked your entry and the song. You're absolutely right, as were the composers. I may not be in a wheelchair, but I do have to think about every step I take, how I am going to get in/out, up/down, etc, so I can sympathize with the woman in the song. I've really noticed how able-bodied people can be completely oblivious to their surroundings because they can negotiate them almost automatically. I mean, I can say I need help down stairs that don't have railings and then the person going out with me (specifically in order to help me should I need it) will blithely walk out the door and down the two (small but railing-less) steps to the sidewalk and then look back ten seconds later wondering why I am not following directly behind. (Yes, that did happen, and that person isn't dense, he's my erudite and absent-minded Greek prof. Just goes to prove your point about perceptions of circumstances.) As for the point that everyone else is temporairly able-bodied, I hadn't thought of it in that way before, and I must admit it does make me feel a bit better too. Hurrah for leveling the proverbial playing field.
from poolagirl :
Just FIVE more entries and you will hit the big mark! Congrats!
from poolagirl :
Thanks for mentioning the Maritime Museum in San Diego! YAY! I teach there!

Hi hon, haven't talked to you in ages so I just wanted to say and that I'm thinking of you and hoping all is well in Shiloh-land. You have very interesting dreams!

I'm more of a Murder, She Wrote fan myself. I want to be Jessica. With less murder. :)
from valja :
sorry for the double post -- don't know how/why that happened.

*BIG HUGE HUGS* Hi sis!!!! I disappeared for a while because of finals (so glad they're over!) and being on tour with the chours and so now that I'm back and had some free time I headed over to your journal (darn, I should update) and I just thought I'd let you know I really liked your latest entry on patience. I know what you mean -- especially when you wrote that you'd like to help others like they help you ... thinking about that, it occured to me that you do through your writing, sharing life lessons, and giving advice. I know you've helped me :) Anyway, that thought probably has occured to you too, but I just thought I'd share it. ttyl!

Heh. I studied Sumerian at university, and did a module on the Ancient Near East. (Forgotten most of it, all I can tell you is that the tablet is older in terms of Summerian writing and it's a list of amounts of various commodities). I was kind of impressed you came up with a clean poem though, the Sumerians were often fairly explicit!
from cyberpurple :
Sorry I hit enter by mistake, LOL! Anyway, I know I've been kinda wrapped up in my own world but you know where I am if you need anything.
from cyberpurple :
Hi love, no update for six days and I have seen you on messenger either. Is everything OK? I know I'v
from teacosy :
I can kind of see where you're coming from--but there's considerable evidence that in the case of 9/11, the US govt could have done more, and that there were serious flaws in intelligence which could have prevented it from happening. Funny that the rhetoric in that e-mail omits that. This isn't to say that Micheal shouldn't be paid more, of course. But I think that the 9/11 victims are being done a disservice.
from poolagirl :
WOW! What an inspiring entry! Thank you so much! I also hope you like "The Da Vinci Code." I thought it was fabulous.
from poolagirl :
You are so right about tragedy bringing out the best of the human spirit. Too bad we can't do that without tragedy, huh?
from stevieg :
merry christmas to you too =)

Thanks. She had been ill for a long time, so it wasn't completely unexpected. x

Hell, if you can go without wearing a bra and everything's not down round your ankles..rejoice! :)

Sorry to disappear on you m'dear, my connection cut me off and I've got back online but neither yahoo or msn will let me sign in and my e-mail keeps giving me error msgs when I try to mail you. (((hugs))) hon, hope tomorrow is a good day for you and that tonight gets better!

from teacosy :
Thanks for the message <3. I have respect for athiests because they must have a great amount of conviction to hold their views. I just don't like people being rude. I'd have the exact same problem if a Christian went online and reeled off a whole series of generalisations abuot athiests, not least because two of my best friends ARE athiests (and don't judge me for my beliefs).
from star-heart :
Hi Shiloh, I just tried to sign your guestbook repeatedly but it kept redirecting me to a porn site. I got your guestbook but as I started typing I lost the messages when it redirected. The same thing happened four times. Anyways, I just wanted to thank you for all of the messages you have left me lately and say that yes, unfortunately it is illegal to have a tv without a tv license. And I wanted to send you some (((hugs))) and say even though I know it must have been hard I think you made the right decision when you choose not to move it at the moment.
from teacosy :
Thanks :D
from teacosy :
Don't let him *make you* doubt yourself. I must learn to proof read!
from teacosy :
That guy who IM'd sounds like a twat. Because he's more important, than, y'know, GOD. Don't let him doubt yourself.
from shanthi :
sweetness!!! i am way impressed! :-)
from teacosy :
Thanks for the links--sorry I haven't got round to thanking you already.
from invisibledon :
thanks for the comment - it was a good suggestion for a topic too and the songs just sort of seemed to go along with how I was feeling. - Maybe I'll come up with a topic I think is worth having people write about - hope you are havign a good day - invisible don

I'm with you - silly as it may seem, it's always exciting to beat your own record with these computer games. I'm always happy when my Pac-Mac score passes my previous record. And as for Bill Clinton's potato chips, maybe that's part of the reason for the recent bypass surgery. I had forgotten his fast food addiction!
from teacosy :
Hey there--hope it's ok if I add you as a favourite. Am looking for some new journals to read.
from tmb :
Great idea of making your own thesaurus!
from arc-angel666 :
Hello Shiloh: After reviewing my posts to you it looks as though I'm Brian Lumleys agent LOL. He wrote the Necro-Scope series. The thing that is so frightening is there is no peace even after death. You can be tortmented and tortured even after death. His Vampires have a long history which he follows. These Vampires aren't the garden variety types. They torture the dead as well as the living and force both to do the evil. They mate with humans and their ability to transform is remarkable. If you like spooky stuff you'll enjoy Mr. Lumley's books.
from arc-angel666 :
Hello again: OH its a song! LOL. From Superman or Lois and Clark? Have you read Brian Lumley? I'll continue to read your stuff. Now you mentioned other diarys are those the ones listed?
from arc-angel666 :
Hello I came to you via Poolagirl. Why is it so hard being you? You are into Vampires.....have you read Brian Lumley? His Vampires rock, they eat Anne Rice's Ghoulies for breakfast. He has Nine Books most folks stop after 5, they feel they begin to think like the characters in his books. Spooky Stuff. I see you like Dean Cain...he busted me up in an episode of Superman a while back. I like your stuff. Nice to meet you. Respectfully Michael Damn it I mean Arc-Angel 666

Oh, d'oh! Sorry. I do lots of searches for fantasy, faeries, dragons, etc. and I have quite a few favorite artists. I like the whole other-worldly feel.

June22nd. Aw...That last POY entry was sad. I'm sorry to hear that this guy was too immature to look over your disability. I'm still convinced that this whole thing is *his* loss. Good luck hun. <3
from shanthi :
eeegads lady i'm updating at least!! *laughs* why so impatient for a poy??
from poolagirl :
Don't ever stop writing, my dear. You are absolutely brilliant - and you WILL be published! May I have a signed first edition, please?
from fan4 :
John Goodman was in the remake of "The Borrowers". I'm going to go offline now. Getting too noisy in here, and I have a class to go to. I wish college were over...
from fan4 :
I've heard of the Littles, and The Borrowers. Have you seen the original Borrowers movie? I haven't. I've only seen the remake. Got the characters mixed up with the Littles though. Wondered why the small people in The Borrowers lacked tails.
from fan4 :
I picked up your trading card this morning, and also listed your p-o-y entry as a favorite too. (Pieces-ofyou is how I found out about your diary.)
from fan4 :
I'll have to remember to stop by your diary tomorrow, so I can link to your trading card.
from discodoll :
Hi! Do you want to trade stamps? Here you can check mine and my collection: http://discodoll.diaryland.com/stamps.html
from poolagirl :
Why, thank you! I am so honored by your nice note!
from fizzle-me :
Okie dokie. First, you want to find the picture you are going to use. Make the canvas height size about 50 or so pixels bigger. Drag the image to the top of the page. Now choose the 'single row marquee tool' [it's the first one in the tool box.] Select an area on the image and apply the marquee tool there [just click] then hit CTRL+T and drag the marquee tool down and there you go you have your stretched background. I hope that helped. if you have any questions let me know and i'll clarify.
from poolagirl :
I love your work! I found you through POY. Excellent writer!
from fizzle-me :
well that effect was done in adobe photoshop. if you have photoshop i'll give you directions if not email me the picture that goes with the layout and i'll do it for you. ;D
from star-heart :
Hey you I love the new layout! Did you set the font size in the "change how each entry looks on your archive page" bit under change your template? thats the only thing I can think of for why it didn't work but I'm not as good at html as you are
from star-heart :
(((hugs you tightly))) it must be the month for Grandma's to be in hospital. My Nanny (My Grandmother of my Mum's side) spent 36 hours in the hospital this week and My Granny (My Grandmother on my Dad's side) was just admitted to hospital today and I don't know how long she will be in for. It sucks when people you love are hurting and theres nothing you can do, doesn't it? (((more hugs)))
from star-heart :
Hi hon how are you? I just wanted to stop by and send some (((hugs))) and say thanks for the comment last night, it always helps to know theres someone "there" for me. Em xx
from fizzle-me :
ah! yes find it for me i'd LOVE to read it
from starlight42 :
I liked your POY entry. I'm glad everyone liked the topic. As I read that quote in the book, I knew it would make for an interesting entry.
from shanthi :
your entry was not near as bad as you made it out ;-) i rather liked the symbolism, actually
from star-heart :
I think sassy is a good nickname for you. I'm glad you had a nice care provider, that makes all the difference doesn't it? One of my best friends originally came to me as a care provider and another couple of my friends I've met because they've done care for friends with CP. Congrats of winning the POY award, I've been meaning to find out what thats all about and maybe join. (((hugs))) for you! Em x

Hi there! Thanks for being my secret valentine! It was much better then the secret santa (which I never found out who was mine!) I figured your name looked familiar! You requested a review at USA Reviews and I think I have passed by your diary a few times. Weird huh? Well, keep in touch and thanks once again! ~Nancy~
from trapidi :
hey! I was your secret valentine... sry I didn't send as many valentines as I hoped.... *huggles*

from shanthi :
uuummmm yeah. *adding evidence to the soul sisters theory* i was watching ever after last night...
from star-heart :
Do you have your Yahoo messenger set to "ignore people not on my friends list"? Only I added you to my friends list and I can see when you are online but I don't think you're getting the messages I send you... if you do change it so anyone can IM, I can send you a message and there should be an add to friends link in the message. Hope that makes sense and that you are ok, Em x
from star-heart :
Hi just wanted to tell you that I can't use msn at the moment (it doesn't like me and keeps telling me I don't exist) so I added you to my yahoo messenger... don't know if you use it? Also your notes link is wrong - you need to take the "your" bit out of the link I think (it takes me to my notes page instead) (((hugs)))
from moviegrrl :
The best bet for your mate to learn how to skin templates is to read the tutorial here: http://www.alistapart.com/articles/alternate/ which explains everything really well (and proabbly better than I can!) If she is still having problems getting it to work, after that then sure she can drop me an email
from stevieg :
good luck with the novel! :) and abt the guestbook entry...think I left that behind sometime back. it's on my other url I think.

I haven't read that yet either, but I better be getting to the library soon so I can check these out. I've read some other books by C.S. Lewis, and he's one of my favorites, so I'm sure I'll like it. Thanks again! Loves, Letti

hello, this is the artist formerly known as milky. Well, hah, no, I'm just on a test diary. And I'm too lazy to log in on my own name. I just wanted to let you know I'll be done with the tables etc tomorrow and I apologise for taking so long! I'll send you an e-mail tomorrow + the finished stuff. And I am terrible at responding guestbook entries (or anything for that matter) but about the dinosaur songs : I *only* remember the stego-saur-us song! which makes me sad. there is a T-rex song? wow. that must be the best thing ever.
from ana-warda :
Hi sis. This is just to let you know that I am still here and the only thing standing between me and writing the long, involved e-mails and entries I need to is a huge pile of work. Hopefully I can make a bigger dent in it this afternoon. And you're right, writing the whole saga out is really helping .... only the next bit is not going to be fun. Oh well, it still needs doing. ~Blessings~
from pure-milk :
Yes, please do! email me it, i apologise for taking so so so long for responding but I have been super busy. So email me stuff etc, and I will totally get back to you much faster. ([email protected])

busybusybusylittleme. Erk, I wish I could be eloquent, just for one day, so I could finish these essays. As soon as they're done, I'll look up that poem, I've been meaning to ....
from ana-warda :
Oooh ... another cute Latin quote :)
from mizmode :
Gotta love those 80s tv shows and home remedies. :) The Golden Girls is my all time fave show. There were so many 80s shows that I watched. I think I had more fave shows in the 80s than the 90s or even now. lol As for the home remedies I'm trying to remember if I've seen that ep. I think I did but can't remember. But it's so true. Everyone has a home remedy for something. The thing is, is it a good one or not. lol
from ana-warda :
Oooh.... an ancient Mesopotamian love poem! What language was it written in? Do you know if I could find it online?
from ana-warda :
That is such a cute Latin quote! Where'd you find it?

Hey girl! What's the site address where I might find what your talking about! Who knows, I just might learn html! lol...The diary was for people to post whatever they wanted....but I did that diary in like January, just couldn't figure out how to turn it into a public diary (even though I read the instructions! lol) Anyways...who knows, maybe I'll finally make it work...I really don't like the pic. I just used that one since that's the only one that would upload on ranchoweb. I have a few cute pics saved in my emails, but I can't seem to get them to upload! lol...ttyl. ~Nancy~
from cutiepie1983 :
Thanx girl for those kind words! Hopefully that day will come soon! What was that html editor thingy you were talking about in your last entry? I've never really wanted to learn html cuz it just gives me a headache, but last week, I was bored and designed a layout...it's at publicdiary.diaryland.com (tell me what you think! lol) I made that diary in hopes to turn it into a public diary, but just never really did it...so I took it to see how my layout would look! Anyways, I love xmas songs also...I've been singing them for a few days now! I love all of them! Well....gotta go! ttyl. ~Nancy~

Thanks for the compliments. :) I hope your nose is okay. That same thing happened to me. Now my nose is still stuffy but not as bad. At night I use a nose spray so I won't be up all night trying to breathe and than after I use the nose spray it clears it up but than I sneeze all over the place. lol Go figure. As everyone keeps saying, it's the season for it. lol
from ana-warda :
I missed you! Now we both have the internet again ... yay!
from adahy :
Hi there :) Thank you on the layout. I spent a whole lot of time on the Halloween one. Funny is that I only had it for a few days. I'm thinking about doing one for each major holiday. (And maybe Arbor day too :) The newest one is just a theme of the Halloween one, but I need to add back the guestbook and email box stuff. So much clutter! :) As for the prowler, I think so. The bad weather I am sure scared him off. I think I know who it is, but I am not certain. There is a real creep of a guy that I knew, even lived right across the street for years. There's something mentally wrong with the looser, and I am glad he's gone. From time to time he comes up to drive around the place for a week or so, and then leaves again for a few years. I saw him not that long ago, and Anne told me she saw him in his jeep looking around her place. She at the time didn't know his history, and just described him, I knew him right off the bat. But like I said, since the weathers has gotten bad, no one in their right mind would hang around for long out there now.
from adahy :
*grin* Your questions: 1) Very carefully. I recall that I had to set that in the code, rather than believe what my html program told me. I'll go look it up and email you back. 2) FrontPage 2000. A absolutely horrid program, buggier than an ant farm... but I know how to work around most of the bugs. I often reopen any page I make in IE and write in what I want. The tiny FrontPage express program that comes with 98 isn't too bad and I used it before I got the full version. It has a file size limit that's kinda small. If you run over your limit the dratted thing crashes. 3) I assume you mean how I have them on my journal? With that, I created a template of what I wanted, which was a very simple, yet functional layout, and pasted in the name for what ever ring I wanted. I cut and paste that template for as many rings I had, and by hand pasted in each name. Took forever *laugh* I'll email the html snippet to you as well.
from adahy :
Hey Shiloh! No, I don't mind one tiny bit. I'll admit I always felt it needed something more, and you found it. I'm pleased you like it. :)

Oh my goodness! What is it about brides treating the guests as if she were queen, and they the humble servants? I've just gone though the same thing with D's wedding (covered in part, in the diary). I guess the only thing one can do is to make sure they *don't* do the same at theirs. On a side note, as I helped D dress before her wedding I made a *ahem* mild wisecrack to the effect of "Don't worry, I'm taking notes so I know exactly what to do to drive you nuts when my turn comes around." I couldn't help myself! She looked at me and her mouth dropped open. I fled the room in hunt of the photo lady to escape D's wrath.

Thanks for the update ... another morning goes by and now he has a name: Hesham Mahomed Hayadet, limo driver. The Egyptian foreign minister said that such shootings were common in the US ... that this was being blown out of proportion and there was no evidence this guy had been a terrorist. Still, he must have had some reason to do it ... why did he stop at the El Al counter and kill Jews on the Fourth? Very very sensitive targets for an Egyptian on such a day. If he was just insane, though, that would be somewhat comforting ....
from adahy :
I was about to write in that I couldn't relate... till I recalled a few things a farther part of my family did long ago when I was 10. You know those kiddy Easter egg hunts every one has? Well they had one at my uncle's house that I'll never forget. My uncle was the grand father of my cousin Chris, and at the time he was about 7. During the hunt I found this huge honken large egg fill with 20$ and gobs of candy. Thinking I hit the jackpot, since most eggs had .25 cents or a chocolate mini bar, I was naturally *really* happy. I showed the egg to my older relations where I was told that egg was not mine. (Me: Huh? Easter egg hunt. Me look. Me find. Mine!) I was told that egg had Chris's name on it and was told to give it back so he could 'find' it. I handed it over with little fight... but was *really* mad about it. Many years later I mentioned this offhand to my grandmother who blew her top. She could not believe they stocked the yard with eggs just for Chris (Who was the only one who got special stuff.) This story is only a small insight into that part of the family. Because Chris and his sister were spoiled, the rest of the kids in the family where looked down upon like pond scum. After that I didn't have a high opinion of them till about five years ago when I made a trip to their house for a barbecue. While I was there I ate, like everyone else, one of Jamie's (Chris's sister) friends kept glaring at me with the tone of how dare I eat! I ignored her. Later Jamie and I where talking and she pointed out the behavior of her friend... and said she didn't have a clue what her problem was, and that she could take a leap somewhere... that I was her cosine and she would have to deal with it. After that I had a might higher opinion of her! Anyhow, back to my point since I took a major detour :) She should have either had you as a bridesmaid, or just came out and told you no. Beating around the bush makes me so mad. It's not like two more BM's would have hurt. I have seen weddings with ten! I personally think she just didn't want to rune her wedding 'look' with the chair. There are people in my life I'd have in my wedding no matter what, in a bodycast if need be (extreme, I know, but you get my point), but I would want them there. Anyhow I'll stop there before I start on a rant about weddings. You know a little about my own private little 'hot place' with D's wedding. Back to the dress....

It's one of my favorite poems..... so I saw that you were missing the second half, and wanted to see if you knew about it........ ^_^ (I'm such a busybody..)
from goddess314 :
you forgot the second half of the poem..... "hold fast to dreams, for when dreams go, life is a barren field, frozen with snow" (it can be found in: Reflections on a Gift of Watermelon Pickle, and other modern verse) ^_^
from greenskye :
Hehe, that's not very surprising =)

re: the Star Wars debate .... I think you're right, Vader did have a bit of good in him because at the end of _Return of the Jedi_ his spirit appears alongside those of Obi-Wan and Yoda.

Ouch! I had a teacher like that once, drove me to distraction. I was *so* very pleased to leave that class at the end of the year! I personally like the type who hand you a paper in the first day of class outlining everything you will be doing for that term. My field Bio teacher did this, and it was fantastic. I knew from the start exactly was the class would cover, and what and went my assignments were due. Sounds like your teacher needs a little organizational skills :) Oh, and on the images, no rush on my end. I do know you want to get them done. *grin* Just a bit of warning, parts of this month (May) may be a little wacky for me, so don't be put out if you send them, and it takes a few days for me to get back to you. On top of the normal stuff, I'll be taking on two days at faire, and may leave the state for a week. I have no idea if, or when that will happen. Don't worry, I still want to do them! Just giving you a heads-up. And as for classes, remember to breath! :)
from adahy :
Sure, I'm game. I recall I did this one image ages ago when Java first really started. It was of a frog, and when you moved the mouse over, the frog jumped away, and made a frog sound too. Worked great! Anyhow there was a flaw in the applet I used, and it totally crashed my computer each time I ran it. That kinda made me skittish of the roll over! *grin* Honestly, I have done a few since then. So send it over and I'll give it a try.
from adahy :
*Cheer!* You're back!
from adahy :
Hey, that *is* a nice layout. I'm not helping, am I? *grin* I fully understand what it's like trying to get just the right look. Do you recall all the constant tinkering I did till I finally left mine alone? That's the right way to put it too, left alone... I could have kept going till Dland went to mothballs. What it sounds what you want, was something I had for a while. Did you see the layout I had going for a while with the image of the forest, with text over it? Anyhow, if you need help doing it yourself, I'll be glad to help. I love getting into stuff like that. Also, I don't know if you have been to this place ~ www.htmlgoodies.com ~ but its where I learned the basics... oh good grief, five years ago. Joe has a five day primer in regular English that's easy to follow. From there he has other lessons you can do, as you want to learn more. It's really a great a site.
from adahy :
Hi Shiloh, I was honestly going to post something a bit sooner, but the migraine shot that idea down, among other things. (That's why I had kinda kept track of things in the mini weblog.) I may have missed something, but what happen to the new layout? I miss it! If you need a sounding board on the 'fun' of HTML, I'll be happy to listen. I use to code everything in notepad till I got hooked on frontpage. *Evil frontpage* that is. Oh, I best say that quietly, it may be listening...
from foursheep :
Shiloh!! I need a guestbookie to talk tooooo! Either that, or I'm going to have to IM you one of these days, or e-mail you, or just keep leaving notes.

Sadly, people can be afraid of the different, which is funny, since we all are, in our own way. I hope Darren can see past it. Off to go create 3D Elora and Blue Iris. (Did you know the program I use has just about every pre-set to shape a face, BUT wide eyes? It has elf ears and fangs, but no wide set eye... Grrrrr. I'll think of something.) By the way, how's the map? *big grin with a bit of a laugh.* Have I become enough of a pest yet?
from adahy :
Your story didn't bring me down. I'm sorry about the kitty however. :| I many not have known you long, but I am sure you did all you could. As Cap just got done telling me, sometime it's just their time.
