just stoppin' by to show some love. been a long time. need some updates or directions to your new home!
from grouse :
Sounds like a fairly long life. Presumably full of warmth, regular food and security. Elijah could have done worse. My condolences.
from protoplast :
It sounds to me like you've already made up your mind to go to CO and drive cross country. Good luck with the running! Oh and you should at least knit or something while you watch t.v.--there's this cool thing called the knifty knitter. Everyone got scarves for Christmas.
from protoplast :
Happy Belated Birthday!
from grouse :
Yes, but remember, a scab will never heal into a scar if you keep picking at it.
from grouse :
Hey, Happy B-day!
from protoplast :
Got the package today--thanks! Hope everything goes well with finding a place to live and the rest. xox
from insolitus :
...no. I didn't switch elsewhere. I just stopped writing. breakdowns prevented me. I'm ready to start again.
from grouse :

from masala- :
Thanks for the advice. Really, at this point, I think I'd try anything. ;)

Oooooo. Ireland. Is there room for me to hide in your suitcase? (Well, actually, need room for two. Wife would kill me if I went without her.) Envious.
from javabill :
just saying hi.
from protoplast :
nice work on the magazine!
from mixup :
I was wondering where you were, and why you hadn't commented...here's to better days for all of us.
from protoplast :
not falling in love is so much easier. but not nearly as entertaining.
from p0etik :
Thank you and now I work with puppies and kitties. I love going to work!! Hopefully you will find that soon. Take care!!!!
from grouse :
"life is good." = Always a good thing to read. Glad the move went smoothly. As for the rest, well, I'll just ask if he has red hair...
from protoplast :
1. A movie: If Lucy Fell 2. A book: Written on the Body by Jeanette Winterson 3. A musical artist, song, or album: Best of Jackson 5 4. A diaryland user not on my buddy list: Erato
from all-grown-up :
1. I recommend Down With Love, because you seem like a girl who could appreciate a sort of fun spoof of the Rock Hudson/Doris Day movies starring hotstuff Ewan MacGregor. 2. I recommend Simone DeBeauvoir's The Woman Destroyed, as it is what I am currently reading/enjoying. 3. Duh. The Weakerthans. I recommend them all around the board. 4. Mimi Smartypants (username: smartypants). Funny funny woman.
from grouse :
Judging from the differences in our favorites, I doubt I could recommend a book, movie or musician. But I read a Bostonite on Dland, http://lisamcc.diaryland.com/index.html, that I see is not on your list. She has links to others in the city... if only for the locations you have in common.
from javabill :
yeah, i know i'm all the way out in wormtown... but any time you want to stop in for a coffee just let me know & i'll put the pot on.
from justdeal :
Wow, didn't realize you were still around. I was just bored at work, going through my old guestbook, seeing if any of the links to friends of old still worked, and ta-da, here you are (and here I am). Anyway, it sounds like things are relatively okay in your life, so that's always good. I've moved around a few times over the last few years and finally ended up at a site hosted by another old diaryland friend. If you're bored, check it out at www.theboghs.com/dwi. Take care, and have a good 2004!
from silentone :
Jesus, Jen! No more eggnog for you.
from grouse :
While asking may have felt slightly foolish, it was also quite brave and confident. Mayhaps you will get the answer you want next time, or mayhaps not even have to ask. Happy New Year, just the same!
from grouse :
Seeing as how you'll be rooming with his ex-roommate, might'n you learn more than you wish too? Or, perhaps, all that you need to know.
from mixup :
Ugh. who gave it to us, do you think? ... by the way, sorry I haven't talked to you more the last two times I've seen you... :-(
from all-grown-up :
for this entry, this emotion, i would give you hugs.
from grouse :
Well, if it's in good condition, the right neighborhood, and you're staying there for a while, a condo probably makes sense. But in what state?
from protoplast :
laughing. i forgot about that. stupid boys.
from grouse :
Been still pondering your Paris vs West Coast trip options. France offers wonderful new experiences and people, a chance for those memories later in life... "When I first went to Paris...". The West Coast also offers beautiful new places, not quite so exotic. And old friends. After all the recent changes in your life, the question is, how much do you need to see old friends right now? Could be quite reassuring, a connection to your past. So, which do you crave the most right now? Reassurance of who you are and who you were, or more new sights, smells and faces?
from javabill :
i love it!! nice to have that reminder with you always. so, when are you getting the nex tattoo?
from mixup :
too cool. the guy who did me told me i'd want more, as did my untattooed but supportive wife. I didn't believe them.
from mixup :
Nice image. did you get inked for real? I just got my first (funny, don't think i've said it that way before) before Nats...the word "poet" on my right shoulder.
from all-grown-up :
I love Seattle -- but I would opt for Paris.
from protoplast :
France because I've been to most places between Seattle and LA. Though if you've never done that drive it is beautiful. I want to get away, experience culture other than my own. p.s. just went to see Lost in Translation.
from mixup :
Paris, because I hate Seattle.
from grouse :
Sorry it's a day late, but happy birthday! May this new year always be better than the end of the last one.
from protoplast :
happy (not bitter ;-) birthday
from protoplast :
i see the days leading up to your birthday are just as bad, if not worse, than mine were. it's nice to have someone to commiserate with. ;-) scary about the std stuff. i just went and got tested last week, but i don't have any symptoms. i am sending over your way as much positive energy as I can muster. i'd give you a big hug and make you tea if i were able.
from grouse :
Sorry about the changes in your life, and am hoping the lab results were better than you feared. As for your closing, "I guess the good news is that I can only go up from here, huh?", I figure your feet will follow where your eyes are looking, so keep them looking up...
from fat-angel :
oh, the sweetest little guy. i can't really tell from the picture - mouse or rat? partial to rats myself.
from silentone :
CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
from javabill :
ohmyGawd... he is so cute!! **squeal** ;-)
from all-grown-up :
oh god. re: elijah...I think I am in love!
from silentone :
It's nice to see all your happy entries lately. Mel
from grouse :
Welcome home.
from mixup :
Hey -- you and Gary and I should have lunch some time...I'm right near you at TJX, and he's just down the street.
from all-grown-up :
I am glad I am not the only one who does this...putting abercrombie pictures on my desktop. It is not our fault: they are the best looking men...ever invented.
from fat-angel :
wow. i forgot that wedding was this weekend. must have been...mind-opening. weird. my heart is thumping, thinking about it.
from silentone :

Re: 6/09 "Dinner" - 'Bout time! Mel
from protoplast :
finally catching up on diaries. i just was having a conversation with a friend last night about never getting married, having babies, etc. Most of the time I am completely okay with it. I really do love me single life. But there are those sad days. I think the same is true if you do get married. You have sad days because you aren't single anymore. I'd like to know if there's an inbetween. Hope all is getting better--mentally, emotionally, financially. You are in my collection of people to send happy thoughts to!
from grouse :
Congrats on your new insights. Hoping for the best in the coming months...
from silentone :
Party Monday, in-laws Saturday, dance at Hell Friday night Mel
from silentone :
See?!! I did sign your guest book. And I still have sunflowers seeds. Blah! Thanks for the hair compliment. Mel
from silentone :
Hello! Want some sunflower seeds??? Mel
from grouse :
Sounds like a fun and productive week. Here's hoping you get more of it...
from grouse :
Congrats on the NYC job. So how goes it?
from all-grown-up :
4/5 - congratulations!
from protoplast :
4/4 yay for you!
from mixup :
Re 3/31: love it.
from fat-angel :
I'm jealous you got a dog! I can't wait to have a dog again. As much as I love Poker, I will never have another sheltie.
from fat-angel :
hi...i sent you an email. did you get it? that's not meant to be a nag...just curious. i switched to a new email addy and webmail system, and am wondering if it's getting lost in spam.
from silentone :
Yeah, MassArt rejected me, but I got into Lesley, which having taken classes at both, I think is a much better school. What do they know about art, anyway? MassArt only likes narrative paintings and the "classics." Mel
from garyhoare :
I asked about the graduate program at RISD for Graphic Design and they said that they only accept 6 people each year and they get like a hundred applications, so keep that in mind.
from all-grown-up :
that diary where the writer disappeared - was it turtleguy? 'cause I still worry about him...
from fat-angel :
Actually, I am pretty sure I did my taxes correctly. I did them once online, once on paper, and then Matt did them. I think the issue is that I have my W-4's set to take out as few taxes as possible, and this year I didn't have any educatoin credits. My student loan payments are really low, the ones in my name, so I paid far more principal than interest this year. Funny how that works out to my DIS-advantage during tax season, huh?
from silentone :
sorry new job sucks. We should do low-carb pot-luck! Mel
from silentone :
sorry new job sucks. We should do low-carb pot-luck! Mel
from silentone :
The negative space in your new design looks to me like a huge screaming mouth...of a hippo. Hippos symbolize the god of chaos. Does that make Zack a hippo? Mel
from intheory27 :
Thank you so much for your wonderfully sweet note. :)
from garyhoare :
I love the part when he says, "then I just stopped listening." You can't stop listening and then form an opinion of something you didn't listen to.
from mixup :
It's a set back, not a crash and burn. Stick with the plan...
from mixup :
Well, that sucks. I'm sorry.
from mixup :
Oh, that was cool, Jen. I think people forget how attached you can get to your job -- not the people, necessarily, although they're key; but to the actual doing of a thing, and trying to do it well because you can't do anything but do it well...It hurts when it feels unappreciated, or when it becomes clear that it no longer works for you. Nice piece. Thanks for sharing it.
from garyhoare :
One thing to remember: a Rhode Island Republican would be a Democrat in any other state.
from mixup :
Thanks, Jen...viral marketing ain't just for the consumerists anymore. Let's get it out there.
from seestars17 :
Just wanted to say that it's refreshing to find someone who gives a damn about what Bush is doing to this country. Happy d-landing!
from grouse :
Wow. I finally catch up on some of the diaries I have been neglecting since the holidays, only to find mine listed in your top three. Thank You. I hope your references showed up on schedule.
from mixup :
Nope. I'm just pissed that he brought the names of my friends into it.
from mixup :
So, Jen, what did you think of Patrick's response?
from mixup :
Yes, somewhat...anselm23, for Friday. It helped some, to move past the simple venality of us all...I'm losing it, I think. Sorry to inflict that on others.
from bluecinema :
thank you for naming me! happy new year! do you have the virgo disease? jp doesn't reply, it makes me feel weird
from silentone :
Hey, I wanted that scarf!!!!
from protoplast :
I think I just might be in love with Will Wheaton!
from lucretius :
Thanks for the note about kumquats...got mine at Shaw's on North Main on the Providence/Pawtucket line....guess I just lucked out. Whatever message you replied to about kumquats seems to have disappeared from my diary, although I kind of remember writing it. Anyway, feel free to drop by anytime. I update a few times a week usually, or everyday if I'm bored and there's not much to say, heh.
from garyhoare :
What I do?
from rabbet :
gabe sucks. I will take your advice and try to find a dave/john/paul.
from elateddream :
It's especially awful when it's chlorine water.
from mixup :
Thanks...it's a relief sometimes, ain't it?
from mixup :
Well...point taken. but I never said the people were dull...just the details. Ah well.
from chrysologus :
The Great God Pan Lives
from mixup :
Hi jen ...long time no see...I guess the way I see it is, if it's truly just the tech aspect vs. pen and paper, then why not either: 1) do the diary offline, just for you; or 2) password protect it? (I know many do either or both.) You gotta be looking for something from others if you're putting it out for the world to see...I'm hardly exempting myself, by the way.
from grouse :
Just hoping this coming week is much better than your last...
from fat-angel :
It's not that your Jen(n) entry went over badly, it did make me smile and laugh, and then shake my head. I guess high school amnesia has set in! I can't say that I'm immune, though. The other day I was wondering why I thought high school was so bad...then I caught myself, and berated myself. I remember why now, no freedom, no money, things like that...and let's not forget the drama! But, in case I didn't mention, I'm finally over my high school bitterness. It took me a while, but it doesn't bother me any more. I'm not carrying around baggage (maybe a tiny margo-sized purse, but that's it!) anymore. So...yeah. I found your entry more amusing then anything else, so don't let me ruin your musings!
from grouse :
Quite an ambitious agenda you've got mapped out for yourself. Makes me feel terribly guilty for not having anything comparable in my life. Bonne chance.
from fat-angel :
Virgil is a good boy. I keep telling myself even when he decides that we should all be up opening closet doors for him at 5 am. Matt and I think he must be at least part Maine Coon - look at that face! And all the fluff.
from garyhoare :
The pumpkin party starts at 1:00, so people will show up at 2:00 or 3:00, and we're going to grill if it's nice out and we're and the we're going to watch The Nightmare Before Christmas on our new TV, so it damn well better go past 6:00 p.m. bucko! Sorry. Got a little carried away there.
from fat-angel :
Thanks for the note in the guest book. I just get exhausted from trying to have a major conversation every few months. The "baby you said it's gonna get better and its not" conversation. Sigh. I'm trying to be positive. This weekend I get to do what I want, and the I'll be able to make more of an effort on relationship repair...Thanks for the encouragement, and btw, I'd LOVE to see you sometime!
from protoplast :
that list of men is so great! if i could breathe i would be rofl!
from grouse :
Just wanted thank you for the "Who am I?" entry. Enjoyed it. And to wish you a belated Happy B-day. Hope is was a good one.
from davidde :
hello. had a chance to examine your portfolio site, and I was wondering where the rest of your photos were? Cheers, DAS.
from garyhoare :
That's a huge house. That thing is 4 times the size of our house. Four times! Whew!
from bluecinema :
thanks for the birthday shout-out. happy birthday to you too! 9/18 is day many were born because parents snuggle in december.
from protoplast :
clearly the vacuuming indicates a much bigger problem. and i imagine it isn't just the cleaning and drinking/drug use. these are all symptoms. what really is the problem? (i'm playing the objective therapist)
from sera1231 :
Jen, actually I've downloaded a couple of tracks from the new Tori album, and so far, I like it a lot. I figure I'll end up preordering it before it comes out so I can get it right away. :) Of course, take that with a grain of salt, because Choirgirl was one of my favorites -- although I agree with you that the two after that were just so - so. Anyway, hope all is well with you. Take care, april
from fat-angel :
I will be pleased to put you up as a fave...yeah, mr. cmc sent me a link to the other, uh, j (I have no idea if she knows that cmc gave me her link, or that I still exist or even cares) and then of course I found Mr. firehead. I will send you an email soon!!
from fat-angel :
hi...its jen(n)2. interpret that as jen, with the n squared. remember me? jenn p., if that helps...in the total weirdness that is the online journal community, one person (christopher m. c.) emailed me his diary link, and someone else's livejournal. i went to that someone else's livejournal, and found their friend's livejournal. after reading a few entries that i enjoyed, i realized that i knew who it was. so i clicked on their friends link, and found....thephotofairy. which, i know from email history, is you. so, long and breathless entries later, here i am. i hope you don't mind that i've been reading...i'm leaving mine, too. http://fat-angel.diaryland.com
from grouse :
You know they make fine wood tops to fit over pool tables. Just a thought...
from rckstrreview :
Hi! Want a review? If so please go to http://rckstrreview.diaryland.com to get your review today! Please read scoring and the rules before you sign the guestbook!:)
from bluecinema :
i just realized who you are. how about that. i didn't know your birthday is september 18, or i didn't remember. it's my birthday too. i know lots of people with our birthday.
from dig-bacon :
What a cruel twist of conspirational fate that you radiate talent brighter than those expensive but energy efficient florescent bulbs and yet are serving time in a Crate. I hope a vine finds you soon because there's no party at the bottom of the quicksand. Crate = bad. Jenny Owens = good.

from musicchick44 :
Very cute layout. :o) I hope ya feel better soon too!
from protoplast :
love, love, love the new layout. it's so clean and crisp. the illustration is great too! i never saw the ad campaign and it makes me a little sad i didn't. how fun!
from silentone :
Right on! Be with family!!
from silentone :
Play with MOUSEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gutsy reaction to agency. I called a school 4 times and they kept telling me to expect their call. Meanwhile, I've given my notice at my current job and am counting the days. I can't call outside lines from my class phone. And I get home too late to call them anyway. They have no machine, but I do. I may need to sneak a call from someone's office, you know, be desperate. Last night I dreamt I taught my class naked, realized I was going to get fired, then was very happy about it. Eek. I was trying to cast a protection spell on them all, skyclad. It was a "cultural" experience. O.k., that's enough.
from silentone :
yeah, work sucks...
from protoplast :
oddly, that nin clip reminds me of something too...
from silentone :
Hey, I heard vinegar added to a bath helps sunburn; haven't tried it myself. My burn from last Sunday's gone, but I got a new one on my lower back from all the bending over i did in the yard yesterday. Five hours of gardening. Whew!! BTW, you can add RISD as slackers in the check division. I want my $180 dollars, you bastards!!
from silentone :

from garyhoare :
Hey Jen, The runner for the dining table looks great. It could not have been a better color for the dining room.
from protoplast :
your portfolio is beautiful! you are very talented. I love the painting and the book. Yay you!
from blistery :
jen updated! i'd given up on you and just checked in and she's alive, yay! miss your updates and musings and rants, just thought i'd say hi and wish you well. xo
from protoplast :
wow! jen updated! i miss you.
from silentone :
Hey, want MY job?
from siff :
I know EXACTLY what you mean referring to those cigarette-thinking-breaks of yours. You just put words to my feelings *S* Anyway, just wanted to say that your writing is stunningly capturing. You are really something special. And good luck on the job issue.
from cloudbreak :
good luck not smoking! Ive been quitting off and on (yes, i realize its not really quitting per se) for the past two weeks.... its VERY difficult, indeed, so you get mad kudos. which is good. courage.
from turtleguy :
Tankya tankya tankya for the compliment. If it's any consolation, you sound as though you're a person possessing a helluva lot more talents and options than I have. Anyway, Merry Christmas, and all that crap.
from care4u :
Dear Laura Nelson: I've been looking for you since I don't know when, And now I don't know too if this is the right place to post things ,( Do I continue? Do I hold back? ) I did try to eail you at Stanford, then I looked up all over Colorado but neither they know about you. Just wanted to say hello and to know how you are I wish you the best of in all your plans. goodbye, care4u
from garyhoare :
Hey Jen, do you need anything for the not-so-surprise-party?
from silentone :
Wow, you have sex once a week? Lucky. I'm beyond sex now. Staying awake for a movie is my goal lately. Your borderline personality friend, Mel p.s. Only got hit once a work today. With a ruler I bought with my own money Sunday. Got punched five times on Friday.
from findyourself :
Looks like you're a little more thankful than John. Yikes. His entry scared me. Glad to see you don't share that attitude. :)
from garyhoare :
The-after-wedding-before-Christmas-we-have-a-house- and-want-to-show-it-off-party We couldn't invite everyone to the wedding, but we would like to share our joy with you. No gifts. BYOB. Bring a sleeping bag if necessary, but overnight parking is a ten dollar ticket. RSVP [email protected] or (401) 270-5042 NOW.
from silentone :
It's alive, ALIVE!!!!!!!! Glad to hear about your 'puter.
from mangus :
okay fine I don't hate RISD, I was being melo dramatic. I'm gay, I'm allowed to do that. When I was a freshman I had a color theory professor who went to RISD. He was from Nantucket. Michael Rich. He was an assssssshole. I hated him. He warped my little mind and has made me hate gouache forever! Oh well. I feel pooish now. I doubt I'll ever find an illustration job because I don't think they exist. I'll be working for the Girl Scouts for the rest of my life.
from protoplast :
money=ack. does the early darkness affect you as well? it affects me. ack.
from silentone :
You are not alone, especially on the career/school thing. Sushi??

Alcohol always helps. As for depression, I hear ya. Just make sure you don't do something stupid in your depressed state, like alienating John. Loved ones can be saviors in tough times. Lean on him. (He seems sturdy enough.)
from cloudbreak :
vodka/tonics+good company=cheered up jen
from garyhoare :
As for being cheered up, my cats get happy when I scratch their butts, but I don't think that would be appropriate. (I can't believe you said that!)
from blistery :
just saying hi. hope all is well with the new place. miss the updates.
from cherrrybomb :
i'm feeling rather bonded in hearing you discuss student loans, and working your tail off. i have always tried (tried tried tried) to recognize that the struggle does build a stronger character and sense of the world. You are much better equiped to problem solve and gain independent pride from your achievements. (even while Direct Loans are sending bills every time you turn around) cheers for you...and good luck with Themove..
from hapithoughts :
hahahah, i am sooo like you... when i move i start packing early, and stack all the boxes in one designated area of my house according to wieght and size.... hahahah.. at least I know I'm not crazy all by myself..
from windupbird :
found you via johnpowers.... yeah, I understand what you mean regarding the whole artschool thing. I've got through art school (nothing as good as RISD) on my own via finanical aids and loans... I mean, doesn't art need real life as a catalyst? what kind of mundane and pedestrian art can one make in such a clean environment free from *gasp* work?
from findyourself :
I'm glad you realize your worth, because if there's anything more infuriating than a rich person with social class prejudices, it's a person rich with talent who takes for granted everything they have. I am lower middle class, and the only thing I want to do is write, but I'm not very good at it. So not only am I poor, but I am blessed with no talent. :) Not that I'm bitching or anything!
from cloudbreak :
i ran into the same problem at the maryand school of art... after struggling financially for a year or so i transferred to VCU's art program and had a much better time of things, program-wise and student-wise . middle class mantra that is, the idea that working hard for your own good builds character and also gives you a large dose of humility and appreciation for what you have, is true. wow. run-on sentence from hell. anyway, dont let the man hold you down. later :-P
from turtleguy :
I'm gonna, like, drive down to Providence, and I'm gonna, like, find Crate & Barrel, and I'm gonna, like, come in and, like, bother you, and stuff. And you'll never know it's me, you'll think I'm just some generic asshole, heh. I assume you realize that I'm just funnin' with ya, here.
from theothergirl :
I hate money too. But hey, at least you got a new job pretty quick right?= )
from protoplast :
look on the bright side, you could work on all those side projects you've been thinking about--like the barter website.
from blistery :
congrats on the new (sort of) job and the quick recovery! glad you're okay. :)
from silentone :
You were too good for them anyway, the bastards.
from protoplast :
hey sweatie, all taken care of. i'm sorry you had such a craptastic day yesterday.
from blistery :
i am crazy and i am happy and i am totally going for it. plans, plans and more plans. even if things don't work out i've got family and school and you don't have a clue as to how excited i am about the possibility of quitting working after a year there and going to school full time again! it's so exciting!!! i'm jumping, but there's someone there to catch me. glad to hear you're ok, that really sucks about your job though. much love and luck!
from protoplast :
unfuckingbelievable. down with the man. Shazamm Sucks.
from breadsticks :
sorry to hear about your job loss.
from garyhoare :
Sorry about the job Jen. If you don't mind driving, try Aquent, Inc. at www.aquent.com. That's my agency, and they have been really good to me. You may have to take the train to Boston or Drive to Framingham, however. Also, I believe Communications Collaborative (another agency) has an office in Providence. There are always possibilities.
from blistery :
sorry.
from flipstash :
Your diary is AMAZING! Get interviewed!!
from garyhoare :
Hi Jen. I've had the same feelings about my current employment situation. Unfortunately, there is one very important word we both need to consider before we quit our jobs: recession.
from blistery :
hey, jen, thanks. i appreciate the encouragement. it's good to hear from you. :)
from garyhoare :
Jen O: cat lover; assasin.
from protoplast :
i'm a virgo list freak as well. i think your website idea is fanfuckingtastic (as my mother would say). i could probably get you some contacts of artists, etc. here if you do go through with it. why have i been the only one to sign your guestbook in the last couple of days?!? it makes me feel like a stalker ;-)
from protoplast :
argh. i know exactly how you are feeling. me=zero cash right now and i'm not used to it. you could start your own web design business and work from home ;-)
from protoplast :
thank you so much for your gb entry. it reminded me of an e-mail i wrote you a long, long, long, time ago about how i would always read your diary and john's diary because you both were cool, sassy, kid's who have a pretty great relationship--something i'd like to someday have. and yeah, thank you also for agreeing with me that my therapist was out of line. i mean, i don't know how these things are supposed to work, but that didn't seem right to me.
from angryquail :
A most happy birthday from your loving (so loving) John...isn't he a sweet guy?

Happy Birthday. But that's not why I'm signing - you asked for theories as to why America is hated. I happened to have just finish reading this interview with Osama bin Laden from 1998: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/binladen/who/interview.html
from justdeal :
I'm sure you'll end up back on the list eventually. Happy belated birthday!
from erato :
happy birthday! i don't know just how much johnpowers hates shopping--but if he hates it as much as i do, then my god, that is true love. i still haven't found someone i could tolerate shopping for. lots of nice men and women that would shop for me... but none i would shop for. so you should smile and be happy. :)
from girlthepunk :
happy birthday! (:
from pickled-fae :
many many happies Jen.....enjoy the cheesecake (and have a bit for me)
from lacroixls :
yet another member of the posse wishing you a happy birthday! even if John got you what he thinks is a lame gift, you still have each other. that is so very important now. more than ever.
from haloofcurls :
happy birthday!!!! and i can't read anything i post here because i just changed all the colors to my desktop, and this white on yellow just doesn't work! d'oh!
from punkybee :

from bellanna :

from protoplast :
i'm glad you liked the card. it absolutely had me on the floor with stomach cramps laughing so hard. happy birthday again!
from alternamommy :
Happy Birthday. I did enjoy the monks, but I must admit, they kind of scare me. It's a latent Catholic thing, I think. I digress. Blessings on your day. :)
from milkmaid :
Happy Birthday! Jewelry is always nice - and fits neatly into a pocket when moving - no bulky boxes necessary. Just an idea...
from juniperaz :
Happy Birthday!
from broknpromise :
Like your site especially the monks. And as a proud member of John's Posse I would like to wish you a very Happy Birthday! Enjoy it you deserve it.
from blistery :
Happy Birthday to you!
from hoochiepoet :
Who wouldn't be happy about Moulin Rouge AND Angelina Jolie wallpaper? It made me happy anyway.
from juniperaz :
My heart goes out to you as you deal with the mourning of your Grandfather on top of everything else that has been happening in recent days. ((Hugs)) I wish you peace.
from blistery :
jen, re: the wallpapers, i'm just boring and have a blue background on my computer. but i appreciate the effort and they are pretty to look at. hope you're doing alright. *hugs*
from johnpowers :
oh sweety, I'm sorry if I angered you.
from findyourself :
Only three of the wallpapers loaded for me. Sorry. And I like your rainbow monk guys.
from protoplast :
i ended up using the final fantasy one actually. thanks--i needed some new wallpaper. the angelie jolie/tomb raider one was wallpaper for most of the summer.
from justdeal :
Jen, that Nostradamus thing is a hoax. Quinndolyn actually posted a couple of links yesterday to urban legends sites which discredit that quote. So worry not! :)
from justdeal :
Jen, that's about the best way of putting this morning's events into words I've seen. Stay safe, you two.
from johnpowers :
i am in shock.
from m0ok :
I recommend feeding the little bastards diazepam painted like smarties.
from garyhoare :
Yeah, you two are invited. Melissa just took on too much stuff for me and her to do, so the invitations are going to be late.
from protoplast :
hey grrrl--just got caught up on your so-called-life. craptastic sweatie. i understand though, i think i'll probably curl up in a ball for many days when my granny passes. hugs and kisses and warm thoughts from me to you.
from silentone :
Hang in there, Jen!!! p.s. The wedding is October 20th. :)
from silentone :
Jen, You're not yucky, you're YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
from johnpowers :
I wrote "Wait until you're about to turn 30. Ugh. OMG, I just became my dad. Frick." in a guestbook - and that was the reply. Don't worry, I'm not spawning behind your back.
from justdeal :
Hey Jen, just wondering if you ever got the e-card I sent. I'm not sure if I used a correct e-mail ([email protected]?), so hopefully you got it at some point. Hope all is going relatively well.
from silentone :
Let me know if you need anything, Jen. -Mel
from tincan815 :
Hey, good luck and hugs, you'll be in my prayers.
from findyourself :
I've never had anyone close to me die either, except for my dogs. And that was sad enough. I understand the confusion of feeling both blessed that no one you're close to has died so far and cursed because of how unprepared you are to deal with death when it eventually and inevitably arrives. I will definitely keep you in my thoughts.
from blistery :
jen, hugs from afar. i hope things w/your gramps get better, it sounds like they will. love the new design, i just now realized the little guys change color, how cool!
from reality :
hugs. as suggested by mr. john. :o)
from mistreated :
very lovely... can you even say that?
from silentone :
A new place really is so symbolic. Yeah, happy, fun!!!! I wish more people knew that things ARE POSSIBLE. Gary knows that by ignoring the fact that it's impossible, you can get any piece of furniture up the stairs. I miss you guys. See you Saturday, I hope. (Ask John.) I won't work you too hard. -Melissa
from garyhoare :
Hi Jen, You're new layout is monkriffic. Monktastic? Oh yes, MONKADELIC! I have a question for you: do you notice a difference between your computer and John's computer when loading web-pages? Is one noticeably faster than the other? We got cable-internet, and it doesn't seem as fast as it should. I'm wondering if it's a Mac thing. Or maybe I'm just an impatient bastard. -Gary
