Randomness

I'm 27 yrs old from Pittsburgh, PA. Currently a graduate student working towards a masters in psychology. Hobbies : writing, mostly poetry and some prose. Music is therapy to me. I play the piano, but for the most part, I'm a listener and have a range of favorite bands and artists - depending on my moods. I'm divorced, but currently in a very stable, happy relationship (it's about time!).

What I do for fun (or to pass the time): Going out, Staying in, being random, hanging out. Self-medicating, karaoke nights, air hockey, bowling...etc I'm a mixture of lame and random but as my boyfriend says, it's more like we just "keep it real" :-)

My favorite diaries:

My favorite music:

Bob Dylan
comments: He's classic, old school and an excellente poet/lyricist. I'm a fan of a lot of older and newer Folk-rock or acoustic music; jam bands, singer/song writers..etc
Conjure One, Paul Van Dyk, Portishead...etc
comments: Yes, quite the contrast from Dylan, but I also enjoy a variety of trance, electronica, house, techno music - whatever you'd like to call it :-)
The Flaming Lips
comments: All I can say is...mellow!
Elliott Smith/Even Johansen (aka Magnet)
comments: No doubt I'm a fan of "tortured soul" artists. (It's the poet in me) Beautiful lyrics and music.
Beautiful music in general :-)
comments: Like I said, music soothes me. Sure I enjoy upbeat music when it suits my mood. Especially at night though, nothing better than Azure Ray, Aimee Mann, David Gray, Jeff Buckley, Fiona, Elliott..etc to ease me into dream land

My favorite movies:

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
comments: I saw this movie with a friend of mine while going through my divorce. It stuck a chord with me - I loved this movie and can't wait till the DVD comes out
Magnolia
comments: This is really the only movie I really like with Tom Cruise starring in it.
Vanilla Sky
comments: Ok make that two! :-) :-)
Swingers
comments: I love this movie. Vegas Baby! Jon Favreaux is awesome and of course I named my cat after Vince Vaghn's character (a lot of my closest friends still don't know that! hehe)
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas/Blow
comments: Oh, you know. The Johnny Depp *drug movies* . Not only do I love J.D., but these movies are classic staples in my DVD collection.

My favorite authors:

Kahlil Girbran
comments: "The Prophet" is a classic but I enjoy anything by him. He's probably my all time favorite philosopher/poet
Albert Camus
comments: "The Stranger" is an excellente novel. I read it in French though, but being an existentialist novel it made about as much sense in English. :-)
Any Psych. Author :-)
comments: I enjoy reading books on Psychology -- from pharmacology to disorders, self help books. What can I say, it interests me, not to mention is a great supplement to my texts in grad school. :-)
Anything Philosophy -( mostly Existentialist Writers), Some poets
comments: Sartre, Camus, etc.. As for poetry, I've been writing my own since I was kid. I can't say I read a lot of poetry, at least from famous poets. I'm a strange breed of writers that was born into enjoying it; never the bookworm.

update April 6, 2020: Sorry, we just had 8+ hours downtime due to a server problem. Restoring from backups took soooo long, but everything is back and no data was lost. Ay yay yay! Anyhow, hope everyone is well with the virus stuff.
