Been a While
[2006-03-25]

So, I haven't been around in a while, but that doesn't mean I haven't been doing stuff to manage my weight. I am currently taking a health class at Glendale Community College and it's great. My teacher, Barb Erfurt, is really cool, explains health in an interesting and memorable way. The best thing is that she really believes in what she is teaching and practices it in her life, unlike my last health teacher in high school, who had a beer gut and questionable eating habits. We also spent some of our class periods watching sports movies and eating pizza--and not just any pizza, Big Mama's and Papa's giant 36" pizza, complete with high fructose corn syrup beverages--SO not good for you. Maybe he was just glad the at-risk kids weren't tearing each other up on class time?

This class (Health 104) has been really helpful in dispelling health myths (and let's face it, there are a lot of really misleading "facts" in the media that don't help with the hard task of maintaining your health. Not just that but I get GE college credit for making healthier choices in my life. I have lost a couple of pounds and in general feel healthier and happier, and I also got to re-connect with an old friend I used to work with, who happens to be taking the class too.

I am down to 131 lbs. (with the occasional fluctuation up a pound, but no more) and a feel great.

I'm in the process of coming up with some more bells and whistles for my diary, so stay tuned. If you're trying to manage your weight or improve your health, you might like them too.
