1. Do you like talking on the phone? Why or why not?

And how. I don't shut up. I just like talking. I can also be really silent, but I prefer just yapping about anything. I've only found that girlfriends can take this. Everyone else seems to get bored. I could go on and on, but most people would be bored by what I talk about.

2. Who is the last person you talked to on the phone?

That would be Lucy. She called me cause I emailed her.

3. About how many telephones do you have at home?

One cell phone and a house phone for everyone.

4. Have you encountered anyone who has really bad phone manners? What happened?

I don't like it when people don't say good bye, or something like it, and just hang up. It leaves me feeling....unfinished. Or when they pick up the phone and just say, "Yeah?" or "Yup?". I like knowing that I'm greeted or leaving.

5. Would you rather pick up the phone and call someone or write them an e-mail or a letter? Why or why not?

I like talking, but emailing is easier. I think part of it is that no one can interrupt when you're emailing, the other person doesn't have to be around, and you can do other things when you're emailing. You can do that on the phone, yes, but I find it takes more concentration to be on the phone and carry on a conversation than it does to type an email.

2003-03-11 8:31 a.m.       [no]

How about the one I'm listening to now? Stand Kenton And His Orchestra - Tico Tico.

2. What were the last two movies you saw?

My Big Fat Greek Wedding (meh) and most of The Blues Brother (woot!)

3. What were the last three things you purchased?

CD - Peggy Lee (jazz)

Movie ticket - Personal Velocity

Supper at Minglewoods for three

4. What four things do you need to do this weekend?

Oops. Read for work, visit with Darlene, work at HomeSense, go for brunch on Sunday.

5. Who are the last five people you talked to?

May and her boyfriend from work, the bus driver (x2), and Tim from barbershop.

Meh. That one was kinda dumb.

2003-03-03 12:04 p.m.       [Yet another Friday Five]

1. What is your favorite type of literature to read (magazine, newspaper, novels, nonfiction, poetry, etc.)?

I like online news. Non-fiction. Fiction. Science Fiction. And blogs, which I do classify as literature.

2. What is your favorite novel?

Job: A Comedy of Justice. I dunno, that's just one I can think of that I can read over and over.

3. Do you have a favorite poem? (Share it!)

Yes. Poetry for Intellectuals by Louis Dudek.

If you say the grass is green,

They all ask, "What did you mean?"

"That nature is ignorant," you reply.

"And on a deeper level, youth must die."

If you say the grass is red,

They understand what you have said.

4. What is one thing you've always wanted to read, or wish you had more time to read?

Everything. :) History, mostly. Oh, and the dictionary. And a set of encyclopedias.

5. What are you currently reading?

Fences and Windows: Dispatches from the front lines of the globalization debate by Naomi Klein. Left wing? You bet. Well written? You bet.

2003-02-25 2:42 p.m.       [Oops]

I forgot last Friday, and was very busy this past weekend. All I can say is, choreography is fun.

1. What is your most prized material possession?

Geez, I dunno. My Iron Ring? My computer? One of the two. One's got a lot more sentimental value, the other's got more usefulness.

2. What item, that you currently own, have you had the longest?

In Ottawa? ummm, I've got T-shirts that I've honestly had for probably six years now. They're still in good shape, pretty generic, and fit well. Why get rid of them? At home? I've got crap from when I was a kid. Books, little toys, that sort of thing.

3. Are you a packrat?

Yes and no. I like to keep everything, but every once in a while I'll go through a big purge to clean up. I'm not as bad as some.

4. Do you prefer a spic-and-span clean house? Or is some clutter necessary to avoid the appearance of a museum?

A little bit of column A, a little bit of column B. I don't need an absolutely clean place, I guess I do like some clutter, but more than a little can start to nag on me if anyone else will see it, cause I like to give the impression of being clean.

5. Do the rooms in your house have a theme? Or is it a mixture of knick-knacks here and there?

Knick knacks. Maybe when I get a real place (someday), there might be a coherent theme. Maybe.

2003-02-14 12:43 p.m.       [Blogging]

Happy Valentine's Day, whether you celebrate or not. If you don't have anyone, and want someone, I offer a virtual hug, I guess. There. Feel better?

These are good questions. They really made me think.

1. Explain why you started to journal/blog.

I think it was because I always wanted to keep a journal, a record of what I'd done. I tried in high school - it started when I liked a girl, and ended a little while after I found out she didn't like me. :p I'm too emotional. Seriously, that's why I take pictures too. Though I only realized that somewhat recently.

2. Do people you interact with day to day or family members know about your journal/blog? Why or why not?

Uh, my ex found it, wasn't too pleased by some of the stuff she found. A friend read some because it's connected to my web site. But not really, no. I am kind of secretive about it, but usually that I don't give out the address than not talking about it at all. Anyway, almost no one I know is into blogging at all.

3. Do you have a theme for your journal/blog?

Blue. This one was a line from a Reel Big Fish song, I've actually been meaning to change it, but...

4. What direction would you like to have your journal/blog go in over the next year?

I plan on changing my site into more of a blog, focussed more on the surfing that I do and my thoughts and feelings on what I find. Right now I've got this one, which I will be retiring this summer, I think, when my membership runs out (goodbye matrixfan diaryring and it's 230+ members..), and my livejournal, which I'll keep for more discussions about stuff. Plus I've got a notebook I carry with me now.

5. Pimp five of your favorite journals/blogs.

This one's easy. misc., etc. by Brittney is great, I only recently discovered it through a number of random hyperlinks, but it's gone right to the top. Leila is always a great read, I've discovered so much through her. Of course, I've gotta have Jessica. I've known her too long to not, and she's hilarious too. Grandma is the new black. God, that kid'll kill me one of these days. Hmmm, who else. I've been reading Nora for a long time now, basically as long as Jessica, her livejournal's private, though, but she'll put essentially anyone on her friends list. Hasn't been updating much lately, I think she's busy. And lastly, I've picked up on Dooce lately. Man, if I could write like these people. Well, maybe that's another goal.

I see Nona's back up at a new address. Good thing someone linked to me from there, otherwise I would've never known. Ah, I was going to email her on my binge anyway.

Out.
