a once in a lifetime experience
we took the children to see the total solar eclipse. they had a great time, playing in a vernal pool and at several playgrounds. it's so good to watch them. time is fleeting and the days stack up into weeks and years. into lifetimes.

reading: "the man of feeling," by javier marais. this weird ghostlike protagonist survived the last round of weeding, but now he is off to the book barn, where the things we sell are sorted, priced, shelved, and not infrequently purchased by another customer before we even leave the premises.
listening to: the field mice, demos and sessions 2. it doesn't quite feel like nostalgia, but something nearby.
working on: getting ready for a week in dc with the children. oh my it is a lot of work.
in the garden: our neighbors did something horrible to our white pines, and how i hate them for it.
