Greetings from sunny San Diego. I am very happy to be here. Getting here however...was an adventure in itsself. I was going from east coast to west to visit my brother and his family. The flight left at 6:45 and I got there in plenty of time. For most of the flight, it was ok. I popped on my zune as soon as we got to altitude and spent time doing word puzzles and napping. However when we got to there, apparently a fog bank had come in. We had one semi try then a second more frightening try. We decended to get the to the runway and it was like going right into a very thick cloud. I couldnt see anything outside my window at all. The pilot, deciding he didnt want to land in this situation, pulled back out and went back up to circle again. We ended up landing somewhere about 100 miles away and waiitng....and waiting. I called my brother who had never heard of where I was. My very patient brother ended up going out and taking a nap in his car as we waited on the ground for the fog to hopefully clear up. It finally did and we were able to come in. It was still pretty darn foggy but at least I could see the runway lights this time. I was really glad that I had taken the day off of work because it was about 3am my time by the time we took off and 4am by the time we got back to my brother's house. On a humorous note, the crew joked that they wouldnt charge us for the extra leg :) Also when I was waiting for my brother I was staring out at traffic even though he had pulled up. He popped out and started to my bags before I even turned to look and realize who it was. Hats off to the pilot and crew at southwest, they did their best with a sitcky situation. I was just glad to get back and have some chicken nuggets and get some sleep. I hope the trip back is much more uneventful but for now I am enjoying the sunshine and warm weather here. Quite a change from the 50 degree and rainy stuff we have had at home recently. DP
