THE GREAT GADFLY:

Last Haiku

The time for flight has come again, my children.

Time to chase new ideas, new obsessions, new focus, new goals, new this, new that.

This weblog feels like a jumped shark and I feel like chapped ass about it.

I do actually have some thoughts for a new home on the net - I've already put a few bucks into the idea, and I've been scrawling in a notebook over the past few days - but I'm going to wait and see if I have the time, energy and inclination to put it together before I go sharing any www's with anyone. Often when I talk about the things I'm thinking of doing, I jinx myself out of following up - so until I have a check that's good for you folks to cash, mum's the word.

When and if I put something new together, believe me, you'll recognize the odor while it's still fresh, and you'll hear its loud schlupping sounds far and wide.

Further, it may very well be that I've reached the end of the Internet. I am attracted to the idea of writing without a modem as my publisher, though there's a lot to be said for the DIY gratification of slapping together one's own cozy little rantspace along a shoulder of the information highway. Still, nothing beats the rush of hot byline ink rubbing off on my fingers. I would like to have articles published again, or put together a little manuscript - or at the very least, I would like to start playing Scrabble regularly again.

All I know is, this particular weblog is over, done, kaput. I've said my peace, shot my wad, done my thing, had my cake, eaten it, masticated it, thoroughly enjoyed it, and had it irrigated from my system with a rubber tube full of the finest champagne. Now my insides are all pink and flushed out and ready to go, go, go.

For those of you participating in next month's National Novel Writing Month marathon, I'm once again getting my brain ready to spew syntax in bulk, so I'll see ya around.

Thanks for the mix CDs, death threats and e-cards, folks. It was never a dull moment.

Greener pastures await. Your invites will be in the mail anon, inspiration pending.
