Mother Nature is cruel
(Thursday, Mar. 31, 2005 - 6:52 a.m.)

Mother Nature is cruel. Especially when you live in Northeast Ohio. Let me explain...

Yesterday it was gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. It was sunny and 70 degrees...shorts & tank tops weather. This weekend it's supposed to snow. WTF??

I mean come on...I can deal with rain & thunderstorms ~ that's all part of spring here in NE Ohio. But don't tease me with 70 degrees and then turn around and call for snow two days later. That's just wrong. No wonder my psyche is all screwed up.

Anywho, because it's been nice the last two days, I decided to take Cocoa (my puppy) to the local off-leash dog park. This was his first trip to the dog park, and his first time around other dogs. Needless to say I was nervous. Especially when we arrived and there were already like 5 dogs in the park. The cool thing was that they were two black labs, two yellow labs and a golden retriever. And he's chocolate lab/great dane mix, so I was happy about that. And...he did great! I was concerned because he's so rambunctious that he would be jumping on the other dogs and their owners would be angry, but that's not how it was!

ALL the dogs were rambunctious and jumping all over each other. Not to mention humping each other like there was no tomorrow. And they were all boys dogs mind you. I'm not sure I'll ever understand that one. But one of the owners said that's how boy dogs assert their dominance over other dogs. Poor Cocoa was low man on the totem pole that's for sure! Knowing my luck, he'll be humping all the dogs next time we go. Oh well, it's a man thing, I guess.

As for other things in life...let's see.

My mom has finished two chemo treatments. Since I couldn't go with her to the first one, I went to the second one. It gave us a chance to do some serious bonding, even though we are already very close. This last treatment really kicked her ass, that's for sure. She's been so tired that she can hardly go to work, which she hasn't really gone in almost 3 weeks. We've been trying to help her with the bills and stuff, but none of us has a lot of extra cash that we can part with.

Luckily, she has a good support network at work, and they took up a collection for her to help with expenses, plus they donated sick time so when she uses all of hers, she can use theirs. It's nice to know there are still good people in the world!

We did have a scare last week though. She had been sick with bronchitis for a few days, and when you are taking chemo, any sickness is 10x worse because your immune system is compromised. So, I get this call from her one day at lunch, and here she had passed out and hit her head on a chair. She was out for 20 - 25 minutes and doesn't remember it at all. So, we spent 6.5 hours in the ER that day. She was dehydrated, her BP was low, and she just felt terrible in general. But after some IV fluids, and a bazillion tests, the doc sent her home, with orders to drink Gatorade. Hmph.

So, other than the tiredness, she seems to be feeling better. A little down right now, but I think that she'll get through this. She's a strong woman, thank goodness!

In other news, there's not really much to report on. T and I haven't talked much...I've been distancing myself from that whole situation. I don't want to cause unnecessary problems for him, so if he wants to call, that's fine, but then if he gets in trouble, it's not my fault!

So, that's it for now...guess I oughta go to work!

Toodles!
