I've had enough.
I've had enough of politicians and other authoritarians like the ABC media, petty bureaucrats and politicians telling us what to think, how to live and what we can say and do. I'm sick of the attitude that Authority figures like politicians, the police and even professionals seem to think they have the right to control other civilians.. and yes I mean *other* civilians for despite what the politicians and police may think they too are mere civilians with no more powers or authority than any other civilian.
They may not understand because they choose not to, but we 'lesser' civilians actually have a civic responsibility to uphold the law just as any police officer does with the only difference being that they're paid to do it.
That's right - they take pay for doing what we are all supposed to do - and somehow they see this as giving them *more* authority than others!? The politician has the same role - upholding the law - and yet they behave as though they as Elite Authority figures can arbitrarily alter laws on a whim to suit whatever agenda serves them best. They with the support of sockpuppets like the ABC and civic functionaries seem to believe (and want US to believe) they are the lawmakers - but we really need to understand - it's the PARLIAMENT of Australian PEOPLE who are charged with making laws, not 'politicians'.
The People make the laws, they are enacted by Parliament, and they are supposed to be fair and just, not blunt objects to be swung with the might of government against individual people. Such things as retrospective law changes and summary punishment are immoral, and yet these politicians create more and more laws which use summary punishment like car and property seizures and excessive taxes as punitive tools for control and punishment.
Our tax system is being abused. taxation is legal only to recover costs appropriately, not to be used as excessive summary punishment like massively inappropriate tobacco taxes (which have been demonstrated to not reduce smoking rates), yet they are used cruelly to punish and harass individuals, and now a sugar tax is being considered. All these are masked as tools to 'persuade' which is a euphemism for sheer brute force. What gives the government the right to force people to stop doing things they or the media or the bureaucrats do not like? If the majority of Australians want something that should the role of government to ensure we have it.
How is it that pressure groups, tiny fragments of the population have massive power to pressure politicians to alter the way we live merely because they have the ear of a politician or bureaucrat? This was ALWAYS the danger of Authoritarianism, this was the dangers written of by Orwell and others - an excessive concentration of power in a small group grants them the capacity to over-rule the wants and needs of the entire population, and there is nothing mere civilians can do to protect ourselves.
Australia was settled as a penal colony so of course as criminals our founders had no rights beyond those of prisoners - but how is it after all this time we remain prisoners under Authoritarians?
Authoritarians measure their success as Leaders by counting the number of laws they make, how they extend their control over the population and what they have been able to force them to do. From Mao to Stalin, Hitler to Pol Pot, it matters not whether they call themselves freedom fighters, left, right, middle or a purple triangle, we as ordinary Australians need to start looking harder at people who claim authority over us and we need to tell them to back the hell off.
Consider some recent history: John Howard passed laws to prohibit same-sex marriage as soon as it was discovered the existing marriage Act did not explicitly outlaw it. This is Authoritarian.. A lone gunman went mad in Tasmania, a place where there were no laws at all regarding who could or could not own a firearm and yet the laws were altered across Australia seizing firearms and encouraging police harassment of civilians who'd never done anything wrong - this was Authoritarian (it's also worth examining carefully what the Authoritarian police did in responding, remembering they are under no obligation to protect us .. they arrived at the scene and hid. For almost a whole day they hid. Remember also, Australians have little to no right to arm or defend themselves but must rely on The Authorities to protect them.. when they're not hiding)
More - Between Kevin Rudd and J Gillard, more laws were passed than by the previous 10 governments - THIS is authoritarianism. Compare this and Howard to Tony Abbot who's first action was to repeal over 3500 laws, freeing us, removing the control of bureaucrats to dictate to us - this was a Libertarian action designed to allow more freedom - so what do we REALLY want, more laws, more control.. or more freedom, more liberty?
think hard about this. Think hard about the media and how they treat authority. Remember the Leigh Sayles interview where she berates Turnbull for going ahead with the same sex plebiscite , when she said "why don't you just change the law?".. "but isn't that your job, don't we elect politicians to make decisions for us?"(the ABC has removed the video) - ask yourself whether this attitude of the ABC is representative of Australian values. Do we elect politicians of 'our team' and let them do whatever they like? This seems to be the opinion of premier ABC interviewer Leigh Sayles.
The bureaucrats like their power and authority, and they LOVE it when politicians outsource their jobs to them so they can make policies, rules and laws without the interference of having ordinary people mess up their plans.. Consider it's perfectly legal for you to use a spear gun in the coastal waters of WA, so how on earth can it be acceptable for a Council like Stirling which borders the shoreline to over-reach and prohibit possession of such things? Who made them the boss of all of us? If you were driving from Joondalup to Rockingham to go spearfishing and you passed through Stirling you would have committed a crime,
This sort of rot has to stop. their distrust of us is an affront. maybe it's time they were told clearly no, we don't want Authoritarians telling us what to do.
Remember reading 1984, how having thoughts was a crime in it's self? In the real world actually commuting an antisocial act, harming someone or demonstrably intending to break the (sensible) law is cause for criminal action, but with all this overreach, bureaucratic creep and power grabbing, the laws have moved more and more toward making thoughts and knowledge criminal acts.
I've had enough of politicans law making being driven by media hysterics, I've had enough of them outsourcing their job to departmental bureaucrats so that policy can be enacted that surpasses law. I've had enough of them ignoring the intent of laws and their abuse of power in formulating catch-all laws which do nothing to protect us but serve only to extend their power. It is now possible to break the law by knowing things. Having the knowledge of how to build a firearm or a bomb is criminal. Anyone who passed through high school chemistry technically can be prosecuted should the government or the authorities wish to target that person.. and the person will have no defense because they 'broke the law' by having knowledge.
Having the materials to build such devices is now a criminal act. Your lawn fertilizer, your bleach, even your cotton sheets are technically illegal and can be classified as possessions which could be used to make bombs. Your power drill, your metal files, a pipe - gun parts, capable of being used to fabricate a firearm - whether you make one or not, they are technically illegal - and the law hangs of technicalities. You don't need to actually DO something wrong to be a criminal, you just need to know how to do something wrong.
Think about what Australia has become, from a relaxed place where people had backyard bonfires and went fishing on weekends in home made boats (all illegal now), it's almost as though in Australia if you want to do something you need to ask some petty functionary whether what we want to do is permissible, at which point they treat such requests as an excuse to craft another bloody rule where the answer will invariably be no.
I am Australian born, with Australian born Grandparents and great grand parents and I swore an oath to protect both our Queen and our country. I mention this because few to no politicians have ever served in the armed forces, have ever put their lives on the line for their country and probably never will - I also mention our Queen in particular because few people know our monarchs are not Authoritarians lording it over others, but they are fighting royals - most have served in the military, fought in wars and put themselves on the front line. Our Queen is a tank driver, mechanic and a qualified marksman.. how many politicians fit in this category? I respect our royals and our Queen - I value that oath I made, you know why I'd defend our Queen? It's because she would defend you and I. Some of the monarchy are out there right now putting their lives on the line. So again .. how many of our politicians are worthy of that level of respect, hmmm?
I'd also remind people that 'democracy' and the right to vote came to us from the ancient Europeans - but a feature of that right to vote many don't know is, you had to earn the right to vote, and that came about by serving your country, putting your life on the line in the military. It wasn't something you just got handed to you automatically like a present - you had to *truly understand* what it meant, what value a vote held and it proved you appreciated the value of that vote, the value of your country and your responsibility to the society.
I now feel obliged to ask Australians, do we really want to live in an Authoritarian society where mass murdering doctors and nurses are beyond scrutiny and assess themselves, where dole recipients are forced to take drug tests but police armed with firearms are not, where police can openly carry AR-15 rifles without even having a firearms license but owning an Airsoft plastic toy gun is a crime in many states. Where a police commissioner who breaks the law gets a vastly more lenient punishment than a person with no training in the law or criminal statutes..
Where ignorance is no defense in being charged with a crime and yet no lawyer, politician or bureaucrat can even tell us how many laws their are in Australia let alone what all these laws actually are.. It seems the power and the laws are reserved for The Authority figures and the constant waves of new ones is not designed to protect us in the slightest- their sole purpose is to grant The Authorities the power to control everyone around them.
I'm really sick of it, are you? Maybe next time it comes time to vote we should all stop this 'I voted for my team' crap and actually read what these politicians are proposing. Call them up, ask them some questions and make up your mind whether they are in it for us, or in it for themselves and vote accordingly.
