comments:  "That summer fields grew high with foxglove stalks and ivy. Wild apple blossoms everywhere. Emerald green like none I have ever seen apart from dreams that escape me. There was no girl as warm as you."
Death Cab For Cutie
Radiohead
The Shins
The Decemberists

My favorite movies:

Flyboys
comments:  Guilty pleasure for entertainment only, it's not a documentary and you've got to love the arieal scenes.
Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence
comments:  Nagisa Oshima's film adaption of Sir Laurens Van Der Post's novel "The Seed and the Sower". Fantastic soundtrack by Ryuchi Sakamoto and the cinematography is wonderful.
Oh! What A Lovely War
comments:  World War I musical from the 1960s based on the stage play of the same name.
A Very Long Engagement
comments:  From France. I'd like to see more films based on WWI of this quality.
Joyeux Noel
comments:  (Merry Christmas) Another recent and excellent French film based on World War I. This one about the 1914 Christmas Truce.

My favorite authors:

H. G. Wells
comments:  My favorite is "War Of The Worlds". I get a lot of imagery when I read this book. I can feel the climate and see the time of day in my head. I would like to see this made into a movie that is actually set in the Victorian period.
Pat Barker
comments:  Her books Regeneration, The Eye In The Door, and The Ghost Road are a must read.
N. Scott Momaday
comments:  "House Made Of Dawn" has got to be the best novel ever written.
Ray Bradbury
comments:  The images that I get when I read "Fahrenheit 451" and "The Illustrated Man" are like a drug to me.
John Keegan
comments:  A military history buff's greatest treasure.
