erratum81's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- X Potter or Harry Men On Friday night, some very good friends and I watched X-Men 2. I thouroughly enjoy this and the first movie, but I firmly believe there is a strong correlation between the X-Men and Harry Potter series. Both take place at schools for "gifted" children, which they have to travel fairly far to get to. Both are based on the conflicts between humans (or muggles) and the "gifted". Magneto and Lucius Malfoy have common goals: make the world a better place by destroying the non-gifted, while Charles Xavier (thanks Mel!) and Albus Dumbledore simply want to make peace and find a common ground. There is some sort of an old friendship between both the head bad guys and the head good guys (Magneto/Xavier, Malfoy/Dumbledore). Humans (muggles) in general fear/hate the gifted, while the gifted just want to be accepted and left alone. I love both series (can't wait for the 6th Harry Potter book!), but their stories are so alike that I find myself looking for more similarities when reading the books or watching the movies.
