a diary philosophy
2002-10-19 3:26 p.m.

We'll see how long this diary skirts the outside world.

It's a matter of great philosophical debate among many - what's the purpose of a diary if thousands of people are reading it? At least, that's what my friends used to ask me.

I always defended the concept - I kept a web diary as a reminder to myself, and a way to put a little bit of my experiences out there for another human being to share. I know, it sounds corny, but it's the truth.

I started out as a member of Open Diary, but that site became too bloated and too complicated - and I didn't have the time to update regularly because the server was down when I *could* update!

As a consequence, several web diaries I've written have been lost to the wind. (Luckily, they've been saved for safe-keeping on my hard drive...)

I'm not writing this for my friends to see. I'm not writing it for my family to see. I'm writing it to share a piece of my life with people who are not at all related to it. Sometimes, we just need a bit of perspective.

Of course, one must always keep in mind that none of these diaries are completely objective... I can name one Diaryland diary in particular where I am referred to as "Public Enemy #1" - rather silly, if I think about it for a few seconds. Funny how we can be college graduates and still be so immature, eh?

With that in mind, I welcome anyone who stumbles upon this page. If you think you know me, then perhaps you'd best think twice before reading further - I doubt this was meant for your eyes! If you're brave enough to enter, then I won't try to stop you. (Not that I could.)

So - until my next entry - my best to you. Love, luck, and lollipops.
