Huh? What is a gold membership??

There are some features of Diaryland that you can only use if you pay a small membership fee. We would love to give access to these features to everyone for free, but they cost too much for us to run. By signing up for a gold membership, you get some extra, very useful, features, and more importantly you help support the ongoing upkeep and health of Diaryland.

But isn't Diaryland free?

Yes, the main functions of DiaryLand are totally free. We just are offering extra services like image hosting and stats that we couldn't afford to offer for free, and hopefully when people sign up, we'll make enough money to keep the site running smoothly.

So what do I get when I sign up for Gold membership?

Some of the features are:
- You can host images on our servers to show up on your diary
- You get a stats tracker which shows you who is linking to your diary, how many people are visiting, etc.
- You can run banners in the members area advertising your diary to other diarists
- You can have optional fields added to your diary so you can track things like your mood, what music you're listening to, etc.
- You can create diaryrings, which are ways of meeting other people with similar interests to you.

In addition, if you get the SuperGold membership for a couple of dollars more:
- You can set up a comments area on your page so that people can leave comments about each of your entries
- You get a lot more space to store your images
- You get a webmail account to go with your Diaryland email address

I'm not very technically inclined, and I don't know how to upload images using ftp, can I still use this?

You sure can, in fact the way the image hosting works is that you upload everything using your normal web browser, from right inside the members area! Not only is it easier than ftp, it's way handier even if you are familiar with ftp. There's no extra program to load or passwords to enter, you just choose what file you want to upload, click a button, and boom, it's ready to go, and we give you instructions on how to make it show up on your site!

How do I pay?

We process all our orders using Paypal as our billing system. That means that if you have a Paypal account, it's very easy to get set up. If you don't, it's equally easy, you don't need one, you will just be sent to a form that asks for your info just as if you were buying anything anywhere else online. In the past, Paypal was a bit annoying to use for some international customers, but don't worry, they've really fixed that up and it's great and easy now!

If you need to send a check or money order, we can also do that, but you need to email help@diaryland.com for the current mailing address. This is a slower way to get set up, so we recommend paying online!
