Caramia's Diary

I am Caramia. I love my cats, my Indigo Girls, and my Girlfriend, LD (in no particular order). I was unemployed for a year after being laid off from an airline, but now I have a fabulous new job at a University. My cats are Dot and Vinnie, Luigi is LD's love, and our foster cat (Roomate's cat) is Two-ie. Two black and white cow cats, and two flame point siamese mix cats. We grow them big at our house. Vinnie is the baby, he's about 5 months old. Welcome to my world!

My favorite music:

Indigo Gilrs
comments: Amy Ray and Emily Saliers are my musical heros. Their melodies and lyrics speak to me in many ways.
John Denver
comments: I grew up listening to John Denver. It is his music I listen to whenever I am in the mountains. Somehow, it completes everything.
Michelle Malone
comments: "A happy Michelle is a happy world" she said that during a show in Santa Cruz last year. A'int it the damn truth. I love Michelle and all her moods.
Dar Williams
comments: I don't know what it is about Dar Williams, but she's got it. Yep.
Brandi Carlile
comments: Ahh, the rising star. She'll be a super star one day, just wait and see. You go girl!

My favorite movies:

Dead Poet's Society
comments: I love the dramatic elegance of this movie. The way they blend old with new, young with old, and the struggle to find one'sself through the words of timeless poetry.
Fried Green Tomatos
comments: My favorite part of this movie is the Ruth and Idgie story line. I love how they portray unconditional love and friendship, and the longtime companionship between these two women and their unspoken romance.
Boys on the Side
comments: I love the way this movie puts together such different personalities of these 3 amazing women, and teaches a lesson in love, friendship, and tolerance.
Sweet Home Alabama
comments: I'm not totally sure why this is a favorite of mine. Maybe I saw it on cable too many times in a row. Anyway, it's a good, down home, southern love story.
Oh Brother Where Art Thou?
comments: This movie moves me because it takes a classic story and gives it a "modern" twist. The characters are hilarious and heartwarming, the story is epic, and the music fantastic.

My favorite authors:

Nicolas Sparks
comments: I think Nicolas Sparks has a way of telling a story in a way that you can either relate to or have a longing to relate to.
John Grisham
comments: I love John Grisham not just for his political stories, but also his tales of humanity, such as "A Painted House"

update April 6, 2020: Sorry, we just had 8+ hours downtime due to a server problem. Restoring from backups took soooo long, but everything is back and no data was lost. Ay yay yay! Anyhow, hope everyone is well with the virus stuff.
