elegantwaste's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- novel update 2 Three Day Novel Update #2. Hour 16. So, I wrote a bunch, and then there was this whole section that sucked big hairy ass, because it was basically just me wah wahing about my past and becoming this character (whose name is Meredith, go figure.) So I deleted those ten or fifteen pages. And now I'm down to eighteen pages, total, which certainly isn't a novel. And I've been doing fuck all since about 11am. I'm trying to write about coming to terms with city living, while in no way being a faux-urbanite, since I'm really not. But I have to do something different. I'm not scrapping my 18 pages, cause there's some good stuff, but I might just reform it completely. Add something chilling in there. Some wackiness. Something distinctive. And I think I'm going to add a dead girl. Which are always good for the plot, right? Except my dead girl will be alive. Or a ghost. Or alive. Or, something supernatural without being out of a Buffy The Vampire Slayer episode, but more out of, oh. I dunno. A me episode. I'm at loose ends, and I want to either scream or take a nap, except that if I don't get, oh. let's say 50 pages written by midnight, I'm going to be mad at myself. Then by afternoon tomorrow, at least 80 pages. Then done by the wee hours of the morning. Then sunday, I edit. Hah! We'll see how much of that gets done. But I'm going to stop caring. And I'm definitely going to not make Meredith me, because she's really not. And however easy it is to write a novel about yourself, and however much a purging it is, it's stupid, and uncreative.
