ug, 4 years?? I havd a friend who had an epidemic at his school - one kid cimmited suicide and got so much attention for it that all these other depressed kids wanting attention started copycatting and killing themselves, it was awful, he said the whole school went numb. And yes, we are terrifically old. Blah.

you are right. full time hours should get full time benefits. if this pattern continues, you will have a case to be made full time, and can pursue other action if they don't give it to you. BUT, if you complain, you could find yourself with 10 hours, so be careful how you approach it. yeah, closing sounds like it sucks!! :)

there is only a penalty on the 401K if you don't roll it over into another account of the same type. in other words, if you NEED the money so bad you are unable to save it for retirement and have to spend it on something frivolous, like um,... FOOD, well, that's when they stick it to you. i think the penalty is 10%, but it also counts as taxable income, and they'll hit you with that, too, if you don't put it into an IRA or something. good luck with both employers, past and present. it sounds like you'll need it. sorry! :(

i agree. if they have to steal something, let it be food and water. what do they think they will do with a plasma TV with no electricity or house to put it in? it may only be the usual 5% of the population, but as usual, they are the ones who create the bad impression.

d-land does that to me, too. sort of "hides" my entry for a while, sometimes as long as a few hours. i can always access it by going through archives, but it won't pop up automatically. editing is also a problem, which drives me nuts if i'm trying to correct an idiotic mistake that i don't want anyone to see. good luck on the job. michaels seems like an alright place to work. :)

if you go to supermarkets midday, they often have samples. some happy hours have free food, and i used to know a bar that had free peanuts. i'd always get kicked out, but not before i had the deep, deep pockets of my coat all filled up. just a couple ideas for free food. i'll pass on more as i think of them... :)
