I know!! I think Alison's was better anyway, but has Vincent ever made one single thing that wasn't gross? No, he has not. It makes me sad because I really like to believe (however falsely) that the decisions of the judges are at least justifiable, if not the choices I would make. But they've crossed the line on this one. And thanks for the congrats! I really lucked out. I think it's going to be a really, really fun job.
from canadianna :
It's been years, but I've been feeling nostalgic for some of my Diaryland comrades. Remember me at all? Where are you now? Can I come over to play? ~Angela (http://canadianna.livejournal.com/)

Hey! I just accidentally stumbled onto your other diary. Of course, now you know mine too. It's a mirror of this one, but anyway...
from zencelt :
You are making me so jealous! Each entry is cuter than the next. I'm so happy that you've found love. Gives me hope.
from zencelt :
Yeah baby, its like a whole new life. Take care!
from kittyleopard :
Awesome diary!
from batten :
Go baby, go! Woo! I am so stoked that you've found a cool guy. You deserve the best. Isn't being twitterpated the greatest? Big hug. -j
from kats :
thank you, vm! i know things will get better. and everything will work out. it's just time that's getting the best of me. :)
from reddirtgirl :
I was kind of hoping no one would notice that! ;)
from parlance :
My dreams are like that, too. This will make you smile: toothpastefordinner.com/082103/dreams-are-so-dumb.gif
from batten :
Really? That is so COOL! hug hug hug! We HAVE to dish, girlfriend. -J
from reddirtgirl :
aw,you called me a cool kid! :)
from reddirtgirl :
no, a YA librarian is teaching it. But Mike is around, definitely! I almost took an Information Literacy class that he helped design.
from batten :
You? You, I love. No questions. You are a good person. Thanks for being such a pal and moral support. Forgive the two bottle of red-wine hyper-emo-typing. Big hug to you, woman. -J

Hey thanks so much for the kind note. There's just a few of us MDers around so if you ever feel the need to kick up a dust either her in Nap-town or in B-more with Sixweasels, lemme know. Okay? Nice meeting you, woman! Thanks again. -J
from darkoverlord :
So I'm given an assignment, see? Because I keep complaining about being bored I'm told to plug Dark Overlord to random people. You have an interesting screen name, thus, here I am. Check us out at DOL, we're super cool AND have awesome adventures.
from miralogue :
hi. wish you were here for a cup of coffee and a giggle. ;)
from silveringrid :
i stumbled upon your diary - and was most pleased to see another (pseudo) philadelphian. at least, i would love to be a philadelphian, but alas, i grew up in the suburbs. and p.s., i was so excited to see all the places you've been to; i love traveling way too much. i ache for it every day.
from rachelliz :
Glad you're enjoying the holidays. I'm locking up...username Rachel, pword locked
from sera1231 :
Thanks for letting me know. If you go back a couple of entries, you'll see that I only passworded it to stop a random person who was putting my full name into a search engine to find my diary. I got a little wigged about that.
from liv76 :
good vibes to your dad- and to you. Good luck, and hang in there.
from miralogue :
darling. so sorry. if you need hugs while in the cities, you got my digits. or just to talk, even on the phone. seriously. any hour.
from red-wine :
But did they give you any good pills? You know...for the *pain*.
from liv76 :
ahoy! i just got a new puppy and she, too, has been puking and shitting her brains out all over the place and having to take about 27 million pills everyday. And even though she smells so entirely disgusting right now, I can't bear to leave her in her crate! Great diary- i like the red snapper bit. Liv
from red-wine :
Ye gads I do love that book! I actually own a copy. My circle refers to it as "the scary birthday book" because it tends to be so damned accurate. For everyone but me, of course. Oh! And! You met PollyEsther! Isn't she the sweetest ever?
from kats :
gosh, what's wrong with the guestbooks? GRRR! anyways, i just read your red-headed boy crush entry and I *SO* identify. I've always had the hots for cute little redheads. Actually, it was funny when I started going out with Jay because my big personal joke was that I always fell in love with redheads (based on my 8 year crush on the cute little redhead boy down the block from the time I was 5 to the time I was 13). Weird how things turn out. So. Does the NKOTB have that strangely fetching tress color too?
from red-wine :
(*#$%! guestbook!!!) The 'dumbfounded look' only indicates that he's still trying to manipulate you, and is fully aware that he's doing it. Keep your foot firmly down. Like, on his head if necessary. What a weasel.
from bibliophilia :
you are NOT boring. but I do worry about you.
from wakeup-andy :
Hi, i like your diary.. er.. journal.. whatever you want to call it. I thought i would let you know :) bye now
from adelnye :
Hi again... was having a little trouble in signing your guestbook, so I'm using this instead. First, tks for putting me on your list!! ^_^ I'm quite a slow reader... so far I'm at April 2003... catching up soon.. :) Saw pics of mj and she's beautiful!! Hope that she isn't still chewing/ teething... cos mine still is.... and he's way past his teething stage too!! By the way, I think that you are an interesting and unique person, character and all... don't ever change!! ^_^
from upfromashes :
So sorry, so sorry. Be brave, not just for your own loss, but for the trouble that will dredge up amongst everyone dealing with it in your family, too. So sorry.
from dust-settle :
thats a great pic on your template
from keeds :
was that haircut your idea?
from canadianna :
Good luck with the passport thing. Coming into Canada usually isn't a problem. They barely looked at Guy as they waved him through today. He just when he came home from Philly today. This is sort of frightening, but whatever. Anyhow, I hope you have a lovely time in my fair city. --Angela

Tip for Breakfast: Add some protein. It balances everything out and keeps you satisfied longer. --Angela
from soulsurvivor :
oh virginmary, when was i ever doing ok? some things never change.
from canadianna :
I'll let you in on a little secret: We Torontonians are amused by the hysterical press we've gotten in the last couple of months. I promise you: As long as you're relatively healthy, and don't go around licking public toilet seats in asian restaurants, you'll be fine. Oh, and while you're here, spend oodles of money. :)--Angela
from soulsurvivor :
it's nice to see you are still writing. people come and go all the time.
from miralogue :
hi there honey-pie.......hugest of all thank yous....i got my pressie in the mail....so touched. i want to send you a card and stuff. do email me your addy, because i accidentally threw away the envelope before copying it down. love you!
from miralogue :
signmygbook is so not working today for me...one, i hope the health isn't too bad. two, congrats on the moving in stuff. three, i wish i had a dog and you're lucky you do. four, you are the sweetest person ever, your little reference to me made me grin ear to ear. i could just squeeze you to death. someday, in the target parking lot, i will! ;)
from canadianna :
Since I've been intruding on your semi-private life for the past half hour, I thought I'd leave a note. Thanks for keeping me entertained.
from miralogue :
oh vm. what would i do without your sweet messages and wonderful guidance???? thanks for the reassuring note...as for the pup, I think sometimes animals love-bite. i'm not kidding. they bite each other when they're rolling around and playing and i think sometimes they forget. your doggie is so so cute. i can't WAIT to get an animal. at this point i'd even take a cat. anyway, thank you thank you thank you. (and i wanted to make sure that you haven't sent whtever it was you were going to send me--sometimes mail gets goofy around the apartment and i want to make sure i didn't miss it!) gracias milliones de veces. (thanks a million, I think that's how you'd say it.) okok. muchas muchas gracias.
from miralogue :
hey darling. i'm sorry you're having problems. maybe his 'dropping out' could be a good thing for a couple days...you can think about what you want to say (i.e. I don't feel respected when I tell you I need time and you cross the line, but I do want to see if this works) and he can have time to think about you needing time. I don't know. Just something to think about. But you're right, caving to his whims will only make you resentful. So stand your ground and remember that relationships take so much time. I'm sorry youre PMSing. Everything happens at once, doesn't it? So sucky. But remember, you have a supporter here cheering you on, you're a vixen librarian, a wonderful friend, a smart woman, and I think the world of you. hugs and hugs and hugs and hugs. if you need to vent, you can always email me. i'm here.
from lighthouse91 :
Hi Mary, are you still having the problems with your links? As far as I could see, the html directs mine to mine (believe me, I'm no hacker!). Hmmm... don't know how that happened.
from seanandjacob :
I don't automatically remember this. Autofire. Explosions!
from yelnad :
Hey there. I meant EASTERN PA in my guestbook entry, and now it won't let me sign again to clarify. Good luck with the whole search!
from libraryvamp :
I *love* that poem you posted today also!!!! It's so nice to read something so kind about our profession. have a great weekend!
from cant-make-me :
hi, just found your diary and decided to say hi... i love your design! please take a look at my diary and maybe leave a note :o)
from miralogue :
thanks, megan. you make my day. you are so very sweet.
from miralogue :
yikes! but you'll be awesome. no doubts, darling...and you get to relax with mn-grown stories of the virgin herself!!!
from miralogue :
hi you! expect some minnesota goodness in your mailbox in the next couple days!!!! and drama, vm, you know we thrive on it. :) glad you straightened things out--because it IS hard to separate when you want to be together but you know you need space--and then you get resentful and nasty (or at least i do) instead of just taking a little time off from each other. anyway. you're too cute.
from ladybean :
You're welcome and thanks for the compliment. As a matter of fact, I did design my diary layout. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! -The Bean

from yelnad :
Please share your house pics :) I lost the link you sent me to your stuff last time.

from kateso :
your coolness quotient is off the charts for hiring a feng shui consultant.
from upfromashes :
Hey, I was just watching SNL, and in the "Sprockets" segment, the Wassily Chair that you like was the one that Dieter and his guest were sitting on!
from upfromashes :
Speaking of 60's design - I think you should do your house in this lovely fashion. http://www.lileks.com/institute/motel/index.html (alas, Mr. Lileks' brilliant "interior desecrations" isn't up on the web anymore, or I'd point you there, instead.)
from kateso :
love love love to you you you too! and weeeeeee for the twins, eh?!?!?!?!?!!
from kateso :
vm- that quiz is all wrong, man. first of all, i wouldn't peg you as a music snob. secondly, i would maybe peg myself as one once in a while and it told me i was openminded, normal and boring! whatever is right.
from sockthieves :
You have been HIT! Your left sock is now missing. If you ever want to see your sock alive again, leave a ransom, but we're not making any promises
from ferencegirl :
Thanx for the pointer! I will fix it immediately!
from invisibledon :

from kateso :
darling! i miss you! i'm sorry i've been away; i rearranged my room and my computer has not been handy; not to mention i wasn't really home over labor day. i feel like i'm neglecting dland. but never fear. i'm updating after i sign this book! as long as work doens't get too busy , that is.

from kateso :
woo! i'm so excited that someone took me up on the bruce willis topic. i knew someone wouldn't agree with me! actually, i agree with you that the sixth sense was great, and definitely his best "serious" work. but moonlight-god-what a funny show! hope your haircut turned out!
from kateso :
happiest of all birthdays to you. sounds like quite a decadent day--i hope, like the rest of your year! have a great time today and the rest of the 364! best wishes--hope it's DIVINE.
from asteroidbelt :
yer only a feminist in yer spare time? hee hee
from blueeyesblue :
I stole you questionnaire for my dairy. It is perhaps more telling than a diary itself.
from kateso :
so. i'm sending happy thoughts to them and to you. it's going to be 85 here today! ahhhhh yay!!!!!!
from kateso :
hey. i say if you think the guy's no good for you, then let him go. he doesn't seem to have a problem expressing his opinions to you! just say "hey look. i don't think this is working out. end of story." i know easier said than done. but you can do it! i hate taxes. don't even get me started. i might have to rant about them in my diary too. that and car insurance. good god. blood pressure's rising now. :) we already lost two inches of snow but it's 3 degrees today. grrr!
from kateso :
okok, vm! bring on the email cos i'm practically wetting my pants over it!
from kateso :
i'm reminding you to tell me about your kick-ass research and why you should work for a newspaper. and by the way...."power of the penis"!!!!!!!! made me laugh hysterically. good god. that's just great. isn't it so true? those dumb boys with their penises. ;)
from pixaholic :
Right. SO i definitely only read a couple entries and now consider myself completely hooked on the way you handle life. Good job, you've brainwashed me. gaaaah... :)
from kateso :
just wanted to say i admire how you make your own decisions and stick to your guns. and friends don't always understand your relationships with your other friends. probably just looking out for you though, which is sweet. but i have a exboyfriend who a lot of people are like 'oh kate, watch that.' but we're great pals and everything's cool with us, which is what counts. thanks for the trip wishes. see you when i get back!
from kateso :
lucky you, man!
from kateso :
eh. no one's 100% straight. that would be sad anyway. you gotta appreciate ALL the beauty around you! what a day for pondering. we're getting hit with a huge storm here...
from upfromashes :
Wow. He shagged you into enlightenment!
from kateso :
thanks for your sympathy/empathy(?) on the test...i'm getting over it slowly, probably hit a deep depression when i get my grade, but the interview today went so so so well. thank you thank you thank you for all your encouragement! i hope you have a great great weekend...have lots of fun!
from kateso :
so true, vm...even if you had to stretch it just to make me feel better, it worked. you always make me feel better. why do you rule so much? ;) okok. i'll be ok on the test...
from kateso :
you ARE so alive!!! you and your men and shopping. i'm envious of your life right now... ;) i love shopping. if you're a woman you should be able to admit it and do it well...I went mega shopping at Target yesterday. Bought lots of stuff for my trip to Florida. I better post something about that. It was a good shopping day for me, too! must be that mn connection! come visit, i miss you!
from kateso :
oh my god! generic saltines and heinz ketchup sounds AWFUL! i'm going to take it from you, then, not to buy lots of cd's when I graduate. No ma'am. I won't eat generic saltines and heinz ketchup! oh my god. i laughed so hard (at my desk, alone) when i read that. how true. that's life, eh? you have a great weekend too!
from kateso :
i have dominance over your notes! by the way, vm. you don't need luck. you have it all together. but if it'll make you feel better, good luck. hopefully the timing of everything will be perfect. ;)
from kateso :
thank you for your lovely compliment. i've been very blocked lately so writing is quite difficult. yesterday i went to the weisman museum and wrote about the andy warhol paintings of marilyn monroe. which maybe you figured that out. but. anyway. i like it. and my cute little professor liked it. and i just have the utmost respect for him. so that pleased me. he liked "hiding behind the shadows of her cheekbones." i did too! i actually liked something i wrote....hmm.... and. i thought that was cute of michelle kwan to say, but i saw an interview with her. and god she was a brat. i think it's the whole figure skating world. but i love the olympics, so what are you gonna do? at least she's tough and not all whiny like some in the past. i think that's cool. and she's 21 and has complete control of her world. that's pretty damn cool too. sometimes being a bitch is all a girls' got, anyway... now i'm rambling. sorry sorry. have a good one.
from red-wine :
Oh come on...you're not giving me much impetus to finish library school. 2/3 of an MLS won't get me far. Inspiration! Lay it on me, sister! Yes, I am begging for justification. Just tell me it isn't all sour faces and support hose.
from kateso :
dude. i'm going to impart some advice from a wise woman: just do one thing at a time-it's like walking. one foot in front of the other. i *totally* understand...
from kateso :
happy valentines day to you, too! thanks so much for your notes of encouragement. i'm in a very fragile state of affairs today, so it helps immensely. you're great. livewire should figure that out and want to pick you up on his horse right about dusk and ride into the sunset! but. to me valentines day is about loving everyone, not just some "significant other." so. hugs from me, and glad you're happy, even if the situation is making you feel a little divided. there's a song by mercury rev with the lyric "you had to choose/a side to lose/and divide yourself in two... the way you were long before/you were a walking civil war..." isn't that just a great way to put it? i think so. happy v-day vm. ;)
from kateso :
hey, one more time. i think we finally perfected the layout. come see?
from kateso :
dude. my roommates and i have a poster of the dukes in our apartment!!!! just the good ol boys.... oh. and my brother and i were playing dukes of hazzard once and jumping through my mom's car window. we got yelled at. that was the last time i was daisy duke...:)
from kateso :
aww vm. so sorry to hear. but i think you're great. and i'm sure that "someday" will come for you. sometimes you have to wait, but good people always get rewarded. ;) and just think. you can't find your soulmate if you're with your soul sibling. feel-better hugs all around.
from kateso :
yay! vm is so fun! come look at my new layout, kay? and tell me if it sucks.
from kateso :
vm! please please please with sugar on top let me know! your offer is just too tempting. plus. we have the minneapolis connection, you know you can't pass that up. and you have an alter ego??? you sly fox. you can email me if you want at [email protected]
from kateso :
sorry i always have to leave a note instead of the guestbook. okay. so. based on what i know about the music you like. seriously. you need to buy Clem Snide "The Ghost of Fashion". It's a band that's like alt-country, but so much better than that categorization. I think it might work with the Billy Bragg in you. Go get!!!
from kateso :
ok. thing one: i'm so happy with my italics knowledge. again. thing two: being a dork is cool. i would know. thing three: you would love minneapolis today. it's sooooo soooooo beautiful out. it feels like april. thing four: happy weekend thing five: yay for getting mad and getting over it! i am the biggest geek ever. i'll stop now.
from kateso :
hey hey. what would i do without you, sweet vm? soon i will have italicized entries. and i just talked to girl here at work who said she'd try to help me put a new layout together. yay! (and. i think you so like live wire better.....heeheee....) luv from minneapolis.
from kateso :
yo yo yo yo....my work computer sucks. don't worry. i can sign your guestbook from my house...and. can i just say i think it's totally sweet that you're like all playin' the pimp here? you rule, vm! my heroine! hee hee. you should listen to some liz phair. i think you could probably relate right now, the exile in guyville album....even if you don't have it---go buy it. i promise good things. have tons o' fun in new orleans!
from kateso :
hi. i'm at work and it won't let me use your guestbook. i hate hate HATE when you wake up angsty. i do that sometimes too. it's hard to snap out of it when you're not even sure WHY you feel so craptastic. well, you crazy librarian-feminist-minneapolis lover, do something you like today for five minutes. here's to hoping you climb out of it, eh? (minneapolis misses you too i bet...)
