I totally remember you! :)
from readnglst999 :
Where is clarity25? Recent vacation blog - http://twoshotsoftequila.blogspot.com/ "Eric's" Photobucket account - http://s795.photobucket.com/home/sketchbookshark/index
from tater-fay :
you are still on my list..waiting for you to write a new entry:)
from tater-fay :
and now that mid western girl's state is full of unexpected water! I don't think I EVER remember hearing about massive rains and flooding while growing up in Illinois. Then again, I lived in central Illinois where there is a sea of cornfields but not much else!
from tater-fay :
though I have been HORRIBLE about reading (or updating) diaries...I just noticed you updated.I love taking showers without much light...I love your description of a lazy, nice, puttering summer. If anybody can putter around the house, it's ME!! We could have a putter party!
from majnoon :
Hello. It has been a long gap between howdy's. Saying hey...I miss your words...I am reluctant to say it, but I miss Diaryland. Go figure. Take 'er easy.
from pieridae :
sounds relaxing and pure heaven. (even with the laundry folding bit). i think you've inspired me to dig out my chimes, though.
from tater-fay :
very beautiful!! I could almost imagine that I was there with you. Quiet and solitude are two of the best things in life, I think!
from haloaskew :
So nice to see a post from you. Glad to hear you're taking it easy, letting the healing wash over you. I bet you smell like Downy. ;)
from tater-fay :
I've only been to 2 baby showers, I think...I felt extremely uncomfortable at both for whatever reason...and I wish I'd been to a cool one the likes of which YOU threw! Tonight we are having a little Bon Voyage party for me since I'm leaving town for Europe on Thursday...no fancy decorating..just cutting up cheese and summer sausage and veggies and the like for snacks and making sure there is plenty of booze, wine and beer for everybody...now I'm just waiting for everybody to show up!
from tater-fay :
I, too, am a YouTube addict:)
from pieridae :
hey atomic! you can use flickr to upload photos, and insert the link into your template for diaryland, just like you did with the diaryland uploads. flickr is a free service for up to 200 pics. it's how i got my butterfly back without going for the gold. course, then i liked flickr so much i went and bought a pro account, LOL. No wonder i'm always broke. :)
from tater-fay :
I love Tai Chi. I haven't done it for awhile but it makes me feel so good (physically and mentally)...same with yoga, but I prefer Tai Chi above all else (well, except for dancing to good music!)
from pieridae :
Wow -- Great entry. I think you've inspired me to go for a walk...a good long proper walk.
from haloaskew :
I am also crazy about the smell of fresh laundry from other people's dryer vents! I keep meaning to ask the gals who live around the corner what kind of fabric softener they use, because I feel like I've walked into a candle store everytime I pass by when they've got the dryer on. And I love that warm burst of air, too! :)
from tater-fay :
hey..at least you are doing all these things, studying, exercising, etc. I'm mostly sitting on my ass playing on the computer or planning out where I want to go in Europe or watching some movie on cable..then again...I know that I'm just trying to take care of my wounded psyche and I try not to feel too guilty about what I consider being my "laziness"..Oh yea, I did also apply to grad school, so at I did something that might benefit me in the future.
from tater-fay :
yea..I've noticed a lot of benefits of the ACV (which I've been doing pretty faithfully 2 to 3 times per day for at least a month)...it definently helps my energy and I can tell I digest food better!!
from haloaskew :
Huh...well that's weird! HTML can be so damn tricky sometimes. ("What am I missing here? WHAT? WHAT?!) Anyhoo -- I seem to have too much time on my hands these days. AND I LOVE IT! :)
from haloaskew :
Whoops! The first one should be: <A HREF="http://www.indianchild.com/health/benefits-of-apple-cider-vinegar.htm">Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar</A>
from haloaskew :
Hey, boo boo. After looking at your source code, it appears you didn't add HTML tags to the URLs to make them hyperlinks. Here's a sample for you (if you want to add your own title): <A REF="http://www.indianchild.com/health/benefits-of-apple-cider-vinegar.htm">Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar</A> Or if you want to show and hyperlink the full URL: <A HREF="http://www.indianchild.com/health/benefits-of-apple-cider-vinegar.htm">http://www.indianchild.com/health/benefits-of-apple-cider-vinegar.htm</A> Does that make sense? After reading your post, now I'm in the mood for some V-8 (tummy too squishy from coffee to drink anything else!)
from tater-fay :
I hate that my diary has made you sad, but I guess I shouldn't feel that way. Though it's been incredibly hard, I think I'm a better person for it (though sometimes I don't know why I think that)..and just because your life didn't involve the level of tragedy mine did this past year doesn't mean you don't have genuine reasons to complain about things or feel unhappy about the state of your life. Take care my friend!
from haloaskew :
Way to GO! I'm amazed at how many similarities there seem to have been with our situations (staying longer than we wanted, dealing with idiots, the emotions of leaving, being unemployed and getting ready for our next moves, etc). I wish more people could have the "luxury" of taking a few months off between jobs, instead of having to jump into something (possibly) equally as miserable right away. At least if my next gig sucks, I'll have had a nice break, which really helps keep the mental batteries revved (plus, it's easier to quit because there's no loyalty). Anyhooens, keep up the good work -- sounds like you'll ace your ACE (heh heh!) {{{Hugs}}} to my brave buddy! :)
from tater-fay :
So glad to get your messages (I almost said..glad to hear your voice again..ha ha!) I'm glad you are finally doing what you WANT....go you, that rocks! I'm pretty much doing the same...after so much tragedy I know what my priorities really are..so after travelling Europe I am crossing my fingers that I'll get into grad school here at the University of Oregon to get my MFA in Creative writing. I'm tired of putting "my dream" on hold...can't wait to read more of you! big Hugs!
from pieridae :
OH yay! Atomic is back! Best wishes on your 2007 endeavors!
from haloaskew :
Well, hello there! So nice to hear a voice from an old friend. It's crazy how many people have left (yet, somehow crazier with how many are still writing!) Here's to a great New Year for us both! :)
from tater-fay :
YEA! I check periodically to see if you've updated and you HAVE! Glad all is going *relatively* well. Things with me..well, ask Haloaskew, she'll tell ya, or read my diary. 2005 is gone and I couldn't be more happen...TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE things happened in October and November but I'm trying to hang in there! Give the dogs a kiss for me:)
from haloaskew :
Yay! News from da buddha! Glad to hear your alive and doing (relatively) well...Sounds like you guys are in a bit of a slump right now (January is a big slump month). I'm sure you'll both start perking up in the spring! Good luck on the job hunt -- I've been prowling around myself, but so far nothing interesting has turned up. Kisses to your "babies" -- every once in awhile I realize how much time has passed since I found my babes and notice they're a little slower, a little less hyper. *sigh* At least they're easier to snuggle with (especially Buddy!) So glad you posted. Take care, sweetie!!
from haloaskew :
Me miss 'tomicbuddha! Hope all is well, kiddo! Just a quick post, please?! You're in my thoughts, sweetie!
from cruel-irony :
Just missing you. I hope all is going well for you, your dad and your dogs. I also hope things are better at work. Bad management is so disheartening and stressful!
from tuff517 :
Yay! Nice to see you back. I will say a prayer for little Charlie.
from tater-fay :
I'm so glad you updated...even if it's sporadic, I know we all like hearing how you are doing!! Sending love and prayers to you and yours! xoxo
from haloaskew :
It's been a long while since you've posted. Been missin' ya! Maybe you'll come back, maybe not. Either way, I hope your dad, you, and your family are doing ok! {{{HUGS!!}}}
from majnoon :
Things just seem whacked out all over. I wish you well. Be strong/centered amidst the swirling chaos. Breath and burn bright.
from haloaskew :
Ohhh...I'm so sorry to hear about Charlie feeling ill. Poor babe! He'll be in my thoughts...And I'll get SweetPea and Buddy to send him doggy get well thoughts too.
from tater-fay :
Man, I hope things get better for you! Sending healing vibes to Charlie. It sucks that your job isn't getting any better. Perhaps you need to find a new one? (Not that you need that sort of stress in your life right now!) Good luck, sweetie!
from tater-fay :
always glad to see your updates, no matter how infrequent. I hope your stress slows down a little. Mostly, I just stopped by to say "Hi!"
from hobbstweedle :
Hi Sweetie! Thank you for the note - I know you are still there, just having big changes. I think about you and wonder how you and the doggies are doing. It's ok if you link to the new diary, I don't mind at all. I just wanted to keep certain other folks (like Bruce's students!) from reading it!!
from tater-fay :
Oh COME NOW..you aren't a loser:) Just a very busy girl!
from tater-fay :
Hello! Just wanted to say "Hi!" Haven't "talked" with you for awhile! I hope your job isn't driving you TOO crazy. I FINALLY landed a good job (I always remember when you said that you thought a good job was out there on the horizon for me!)
from sapphyr :
I would love to see your new landscaping when it is all done. It sounds so lovely and tranquil! You have such a good grasp of the holistic.
from tuff517 :
Hi! That gym sounds kick ass, and that is such a good deal. I wish there was one in a convenient location around me. Take it easy, peasy!
from sapphyr :
UGH! I wish that I had some words of comfort but I don't. Just know that all of my good thoughts and vibes are with you as you go through this! Big Hugs ~Sapphyr
from haloaskew :
I love the IDEA of Peeps, but not the taste (ACK!) Funny how everyone has been very Peep obsessed the last few Easters...the whole embracing of the retro, I suppose. Which reminds me, something that REALLY needs to be brought back is KITES. The cheapy plastic ones made by Gayla that looked like bats with the bloodshot eyeballs. And don't forget the spool of string wrapped around yellow cardboard! As a kid, I remember we always had one of those damn spools (if not two) in the junk drawer...
from tuff517 :
I rescue Peeps too. I put them... IN MAH BELLY!!
from tater-fay :
Peeps. Peeps. There is a band in Eugene called "High on Peeps" and they are referring to the sugar rush one gets when one eats a bunch of Easter peeps. I think Peeps are cute, but taste like crap!
from clarity25 :
Glad to hear that Charlie is doing better, I didn't know they had acupuncture for dogs, that's amazing. That previous picture was so funny, I couldn't stop giggling. I adore your doggies. (but you know this) and don't worry about spotty updates, We'll always be here whenever you need to get something off your chest, share experiences or just write about random thoughts, feelings. I always enjoy your diary:)
from sapphyr :
I'm so glad to hear that Charlie is on the mend! I will continue to keep him in my thoughts. You are a great writer and I cannot imagine "dropping" you because you have been busy. Life happens. Take care of you first. I can wait for your next update whether it is tomorrow or two months from now! HUGS, ~Sapphyr
from ruthiebat :
Hi Sweetie! I just read about Charlie - I am saying some heavy duty prayers for the little guy. I know it's so terrifying when they aren't well...
from sapphyr :
ALL of my good thoughts are with you and your sweet pup! Big hugs to you all! ~Sapphyr
from tuff517 :
Yikes! I hope your lungs get better soon and remain in your body!
from tater-fay :
Hope you get well soon! I hope you also don't crack your ribs from that harsh coughing (I had two friends with bronchitis that ended up cracking their ribs from coughing so hard).OUCH!!! Take Care, Sweetie!
from sapphyr :
WHOA! I was worried when I saw that you hadn't updated in almost a month! I am so, sorry that you have been sick. Please take care of yourself! BIG Hugs! ~Sapphyr
from clarity25 :
Your last entry just kind of hit home for me and I actually began to cry when I read it. Funny how tears can spring up on you when you least expect it and you just simply..relate. wow.. I'm at a strange loss for words.
from tater-fay :
Yea..it's funny cuz I just went down and asked my roomie, Norman (whose been drinking TONS of carrot juice) if he happened to notice the orange poop thing...and he started laughing and said "YEA!" and then we both discussed about how we initially thought we had internal bleeding and then realized "NO! It's CARROTS!" and we are really relieved not to be dying!
from sapphyr :
Somehow, everything that you wrote today I REALLY needed someone to say! Thanks!
from tater-fay :
I wonder what your life will be like 10 years from now? Have you imagined that?
from tater-fay :
We are the MOSS Maidens!! No relation to IRON Maiden, though..ha ha! Send me Moss in the mail..JUST KIDDING! Oregon is just COVERED in Moss!!
from tuff517 :
I know how you feel about the shoes, I have to say that I am a New Balance fan myself. Have a good weekend!
from sapphyr :
Running?! Good for you! We can swap stories. Good luck. ~S.
from cruel-irony :
Yeah, I have some issues with my job right now too. I keep believing I'll find a solution but so far, I haven't. I'm determined though. It just sucks when a great job becomes a place you dread to be (even though you still love the particular work). Sorry to hear that the girls' weekend didn't go to well. A day with girlfriends can be the coolest thing in the world or it can be like constant nails on the chalkboard, depending on the participants. Anyway, I send good thoughts and best wishes your way.
from tuff517 :
Oooh! Have fun at Ikea, I'm jealous. Have a wonderful weekend, scratch your pups ears for me!
from clarity25 :
"The lushness of the early winter heat wave is ebbing" that line just struck me as so beautiful and the entry had this strange calming effect on me when I read it. Life is all about appreciating moments like that.. Thank you so much for your note. That meant alot to me. I was feeling pretty down on myself, and I shouldn't have let a negative judgmental note from someone I didn't even know affect me so strongly. Thanks for your encouragment:). OH and don't feel bad about owning cars. It's great that you donated so much to the Tsunami disaster. You have a big heart and that's all that matters. (I would probably own as many cars..if I could afford to own them lol)
from tuff517 :
Don't feel bad about buying! There are people who buy more crap than is even reasonable and do nothing for the "greater good". At least you have a conscience! Have a great 2005.
from sapphyr :
BAH! You are so not like most people with four cars! If you had said that you owned two Jaguars and a Porsche and a Hum-V then I would say, "She is guilty of outrageous consumerism and should be ashamed!"(lol)Please! You are too hard on yourself. If I were able to restore cars and keep them I would. Automobiles tell such wonderful stories about the past! You should be proud that you such a rare chance to own TWO classics! :~D
from tater-fay :
HAHA! I am proud to know somebody who has named their car WaSAABi...that is...awesome!
from clarity25 :
Happy New Years! Best wishes for you, your (handsome!) husband and the doggies in this new year! and Thank you for your beautiful words:) -Love, Clarity
from clarity25 :
Thanks for your last note. It was actually really comforting to know that I wasn't alone in how I felt. Thanks for sharing your own experiences too. I'm glad your christmas was nice and I LOVE those stability balls too! I also feel for the victims of the earthquake and the devastation. I can't stop thinking about it and wishing there was something more I could do..It's so horrible.
from clarity25 :
Thanks for your last note, I've gotten the Claire Danes comparison alot in life, funny how you picked up on that so quickly from my photos. Best wishes for you, your hubby and your funny, Full of character and deep-looking doggies:).I Hope you enjoy the holidays!
from cruel-irony :
I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
from tuff517 :
I hope your next year (and all the ones to come) is productive, healthy, happy, rich in things you love.
from clarity25 :
Happy birthday!! Best wishes in the new year!
from tater-fay :
happy, happy, happy birthday!
from tuff517 :
I hope Willow gets better soon! Poor baby, little puppy hugs for her.
from ruthiebat :
I'm sending good thoughts to that little Willow - tell her I still want to be her bee-otch, maybe that will cheer her up!!
from majnoon :
Howdy! I was curious, did you get my postcard? I hope so...I sent it from Plockton--my favorite place. Let me know...I will also email you a few pics if you like. I do wish Willow all the best!
from sapphyr :
You can steal from me anytime! :~D It is good to know that others are just as crazy for Extreme Makeover Home Edition! That show is AWESOME!! I also understand the Little Debbie thing...too well... I have the worst time ignoring them in the store. My brother and I used to hoard tehm as children and have trading wars for Swiss Cake Rolls for Star Crunches!
from livesand :
And thank you. You've been receiving the rain that blew over us earlier this week. Ruth just called me and said there's a penny-sized hailstorm at our house. Yikes!
from clarity25 :
I'm sorry to hear your new job is stressing you out, it's hard to re-adjust into a new work environment. (believe me, I know) Hopefully everything will settle down, if not..you could always look into working somewhere else. It's important to do what makes you happy, in the end..life is too short not to. I hope things start looking up:)
from tater-fay :
Hey poopsie! I'm starting a new job today and feel incredibly nervous cuz I've never done customer service where I take phone orders...but I know I'll be better once I get used to it, and SO WILL YOU! They say it takes 6 months to feel totally comfortable in a new job (well, hopefully not THAT long) but try to hang in there and if it turns out that you really don't enjoy this new job, then make sure not to feel guilty about getting a different one..whatever makes you happy, sweetie!
from sapphyr :
Your teacher friend is right, I couldn't have said it better... I'm sorry that you had a tough start to the week. I hate how fast the weekend goes. *sigh* Oh well, big hugs to you and I hope that the rest of the week gets better! ~S.
from sapphyr :
Glad to know all is well and that you are getting comfortable at the new job. Take care and have a nice holiday. Gobble-Gobble ~Sapphyr
from tater-fay :
I'm sure you'll do just fine (and that you know that)..starting something new is always stressful! As for as catty women..maybe they will warm up to a little once they know you better. I don't envy you there, though!
from tater-fay :
Welcome back...can't wait to see old barns (ha ha!)
from tuff517 :
Hm. I meant 2000 yesterday. But anyway, have fun up North, BRRR!!!
from tuff517 :
I had that feeling in 2002 and it's never gone away. I knew this was going to happen. But the silver lining is that he can't be elected again. I found one diary that voted for Bush. They went on and on about how sick they were hearing about people complaining because their candidate lost. I was sick of hearing them complain and GLOAT.
from clarity25 :
I feel the same way. I can't erase the sick feeling of dread and fear in my stomach. I keep crying when I think of FOUR MORE YEARS of Bush.. Actually, I think Diaryland really helped me deal with this..reading other people's similiar reactions in a way helped me feel less alone and terrified. I guess we can all stick together. (sigh) in Germany they say "It needs to get worse before it can get better". We'll see..
from majnoon :
I will send you that postcard. I will also speak your name to the old native soil of Caledonia (Scotland) and send a message across the sea to Eire (Ireland).
from majnoon :
Hey...I'm going to Scotland. I know it isn't quite Ireland, but Celtic nonetheless. I'd like to send you a post card from the Highlands--if you'd like one. I am making a list of addresses. I can barely contain my excitment. Email me if you'd like a post card. Talk atcha later...
from tuff517 :
Ha! Your little 'reminder' to the Republicans was too funny. Have a nice weekend!
from tater-fay :
I like yellow. Our kitchen walls were yellow when I was little. I like lemons and light yellow vintage cardigan sweaters and yellow colored soaps.
from clarity25 :
I loved your entry to your husband on your anniversary. It was truly touching the depth of your love after 8 years, it gives me hope that the feelings I have now will endure the test of time and only grow stronger! P.S. I love the color yellow.
from tuff517 :
That was really beautiful. I hope you guys have a wonderful anniversary.
from tater-fay :
dang..that brought a little tear to my eye! Happy Anniversary! I wish my marriage(s) would have worked out the way you and Jason's have!
from clarity25 :
I liked your entry. ah,memories of the highschool years..the Doc Martin combat boots and fishnets...the smokey eyes and all that artistic angst.
from clarity25 :
Thanks for your note and also good luck with your upcoming wedding anniversary, your plans sound wonderful. I'm sure it'll all work out perfectly! Hope you're having a great weekend:)
from clarity25 :
Hope you didn't catch what I had!...I hope you feel better soon!
from tater-fay :
Get well soon!! A little furnace blast? Eek..I hope Freddie Krueger isn't anywhere around the furnace..hee he!
from tuff517 :
TERRORISTS! Hope you start to feel better soon!
from cruel-irony :
It sucks going to work when you're sick and I hope you feel better soon. Don't work too hard. Seriously.
from clarity25 :
Thanks for your last note and greetings from your pug!:). I couldn't give up white rice or potatoes..but than again, I don't really have the discipline to give up ANY types of food. Oh and your plants sound wonderful. I mean that, When we weren't living in an apartment, we had the most beautiful garden and I loved picking the tomatoes, and beans, watering the daisies around the mailbox. Those were some of the most relaxing and rewarding moments. I miss that.
from cruel-irony :
I'm with you on the potatoes, my fellow Irish lass. Not so much with the rice, but I can't live without potatoes. I also have a similar fascination with terrariums. I never thought about creating them though. Hmmm.
from re-ravel :
thank you for the add as well. sorry it took me so long to get everyone re-added to my new buddylist. Hope you have a good weekend!
from sapphyr :
PS: You have great hair!
from sapphyr :
WHOA! He's a hottie! Congratulations on the anniversary! ~S.
from tuff517 :
Wheet whooo! Wouldst that be your red hair in the second picture?
from tater-fay :
he's handsome and boyish looking!
from clarity25 :
Thank you so much for your get well wishes and positive healing thoughts! I'm doing a bit better today..let me tell you, your husband is a hottie! very handsome:)
from sapphyr :
UGH! I know what you mean about all of it! Especially grocery shopping and trying to be healthy. Bloody sugar! Bloody pizza! I swear I spend most of my time running on the treadmill running from my own arse! Hang in there! You are not alone.
from tater-fay :
What a great entry..about mindfulness..all of it. I do cook alot of things from scratch and though I sometimes am not in the mood to cook, sometimes I really enjoy it (esp. because when I cook Larry cleans up!!) One of my favorite cooking things is when I'm preparing spaghetti. Cutting up the garlic and onions and frying them in olive oil. I really enjoy that...esp. the smell that permeates the kitchen (and whole house, sometimes)
from clarity25 :
I loved the pictures of your dogs! I had to laugh, they're so cute! (I liked the outfit on Willow) Oh and I didn't realize you had a pug too! Our family pug in NY is a total goofball too, the snorting and snoring drives me crazy, but they're so loveable. oh and I'm glad you're not in limbo anymore with the job situation.
from tuff517 :
I love when you post pictures of the pups! They are so adorable. I like your descriptions, too. I feel like I know them better now.
from cruel-irony :
AAWWWW! The Iggies are so adorable and so is Domi!
from cruel-irony :
I'm glad you're not in limbo anymore and that things worked out for now. I hate being in limbo just about as much as I hate grocery shopping.
from hamiltonian :
Now that you put that way, mama mia! I am pro-buddhist redheads!
from hamiltonian :
I fucking love your journal!
from tater-fay :
Hey! I know what you mean about having a "cook's" block. I often make the same 4-5 meals over and over again and I get really tired of them. I need to look through my cookbooks and on-liine more and try out new things (which I think is fun!)...Personally I LOVE going grocery shopping for some reason.
from tater-fay :
Thanks for the info on 5-HTP. I will definetly get some and see if it helps me more than the St. John's Wort. I REALLY don't want to have to go back on a anti-depressant (non-natural form, anyway!)
from tater-fay :
Think of it like this..if you aren't ready in your life for this sort of change, don't do it. When you ARE ready for a workplace change, maybe something will come along then...I know this advice won't stop you from vascillating, but I think you already HAVE made your decision (but I could be wrong)...Wishing a stress-free weekend! Hang out in your pink tub!
from tater-fay :
First off, This whole thing sounds like more than just fear...it really DOES sound like your intuition. I think you are meant to stay at your current job. Now, if they offer you the other job you CAN turn it down if you want...just do what feels right (and I know that can change)...Also, not sure if you've read my earlier note where I asked if you'd be able to help me re-design my diary on here?! If you don't have time, I totally understand!
from tuff517 :
I hope you find some cheer. I'm going to do my part in cheering you by eating some M&Ms slightly warmed in the microwave so they are just a tad melty, and while I'm eating them I will send the good feelings I get from chocolate your way. See? You get the benefit of chocolate vibes and none of the fat on your rear end.
from clarity25 :
First of all, thank you for the note you left last week after my fight with Eric. It was good to know that someone else could truly relate with what we had gone through and came out strong on the other end. Also thanks for your encouragment with living in a foreign country. P.S. you SHOULD get a chihuahua, they're so cute! Also, The most recent picture of your doggie cheered me up as usual..I don't know what it is about your dogs, but I love them. The latest one had me laughing. Also I hope you feel better, you've sounded down lately. Happy thoughts are coming your way from me..:)
from tater-fay :
I was wondering if you'd consider doing something for me? I'm sort of tired of my current diaryland template. Would you be willing to design/make me a new one? I was thinking Wizard of Oz themed (in specific: maybe the image of the Wicked Witch touching the Ruby slippers and the electricity coming off her fingers..I think that is also the cover of an ELO album!) let me know if you have time to do this and if you'd want to!?xoxo
from ruthiebat :
OHMYGAWDIWANTTOKISSHISLITTLEFACE!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE Charlie SO MUCH!!!! Hey, believe it or not, I'm jonesing for another rabbit, too!! I want Fiona, who is an American Fuzzy Lop. And Sam, who is a very cute Dutch mix. Sigh.....
from tater-fay :
just think of it like this. You'll have a JOB either way..whether you get this other one or choose to stay. I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but I can't even get hired at fucking Rite-Aid right now!! As for interviewing...I"m sure you'll do just fine. Be yourself and be honest (but ONLY to a degree..cuz you have to tell them what they want to hear..ha ha..just read my entry and you'll know what I mean!)xoxo
from sapphyr :
HAHAHAHA! I almost fell under my desk reading your last entry! It was bloody brilliant! I love the way the word "ASS" feels when you say it so I've been reading your entry aloud to myself :-) ~S.
from clarity25 :
Thank you so much for your encouraging note, I was really freaking out and what you wrote really put things in the right perspective. Thank you for being there for me during that time. I wish I could express my gratitude in better words, But I think you understand. You mentioned you were feeling like you were on an emotional rollercoaster. I hope things start looking up for you and your low mood passes. Just know that you're in my thoughts..and your dog is so cute, those big expressive, serious eyes and somber facade really made me smile. He looks like he has a lot of knowledge stored up..particularly for a dog. You had mentioned a few months ago that I would like your dogs, I think you're right..Your dogs are different from others I have seen. really! I hope you're having a great weekend and stay safe from any approaching hurricanes. -Love Clarity
from clarity25 :
I would love your version of the photographic interview! I really hope you do that! I fixed the link on the first picture. I liked your list, I wish I were over George W.'s Monkey face and spiders. I'm not that enlightened yet, it still unnerves me!
from tater-fay :
thinking of you and wishing I could help. Take it easy on yourself and keep remembering that there has got to be a REASON for why you feel this way and it probably has a bright-side in the long run (though you can't see it right now)...keep listening to your intuition..do whatever it takes.
from majnoon :
I wish there were magick words I could throw your way. I can relate to the things you wish you could change. But you are not all-powerful, you can focus on what you have the ability to change...not those things you can't. Dig deep, find the fire within and make it burn brighter!
from tater-fay :
And then there is always "In the Name of the Father", "The Snapper", "Veronica Guerin", "The Secret of Roan Inish", "My Left Foot", "Mona Lisa" and "The Crying Game" (Hey..more than ONE Neil Jordan-directed flick!) and on and on and on...
from clarity25 :
Thanks for the compliment on my artwork, It means alot coming from another artist. Sometimes it's so hard to focus on that one creative task you have in mind because life keeps crushing down on you with different obligations. I'm glad that you were able to work out everything in your writing. That helps me too, after collecting my thoughts and typing them down in an entry, I see things clearer.. It's less overwhelming. I also have a dream of getting my masters degree some day, It's just the money issue..sigh.
from sapphyr :
Happy Birthday to your baby! What a cutie! I just wanted to hug my screen! Thanks for sharing! ~Sapphyr
from ruthiebat :
mmmmmmmmm...those doggies! I've said it before and I'll say it again - they are as cute as rabbits!!
from clarity25 :
What a cute photograph, Those are unusual dogs.. Beautiful, but different. Those BIG eyes, and thin necks, calm knowing expressions...
from tuff517 :
The picture of the 3 Pooches is a-dor-able. That shadowing is great and the floppy ears and wide eyes are sooo cute.
from sapphyr :
So glad to know that you're okay! I caught my daughter watching the weather channel. She was very upset and wanted to know more about hurricanes. It made me think of you. Take care! ~Sapphyr
from clarity25 :
glad to hear that you stayed safe and out of harms way..
from ruthiebat :
I've had my candles lit this weekend for ya'll....
from tater-fay :
I'm sending good luck prayers/vibes to your area. Damn, it sucks that it happens to be FRIDAY the 13th today...well, I won't be silly and superstitious..
from clarity25 :
I hope you remain safe through this hurricane and it doesn't hit as hard as expected. You're in my prayers right now, I'm going to go check the news to see what's happening. Good luck, stay safe!
from tater-fay :
To quote you, "As soon as I stop trying to control everything things might just fall into place."..Yep, I think that about sums it up. Keep remembering it..cuz I am certaintly trying to for myself! Life works is such strange ways (ways that I love and ways that frustrate me to tears...know what I mean)? Heart palpitations remind of anxiety attacks/stress-related symptoms. Get checked out, sweets!
from clarity25 :
well..CONSIDER moving..but nearly the same thing..
from clarity25 :
Those heart palpitations sound frightening, ..have you seen a doctor about it? Just to get it checked out? I hope everything is okay! Thank you for your good advice, I followed it actually! I'll write about the results later today in my diary, the conversation started off rocky, but ended with Eric agreeing to move to America next August. :)
from ruthiebat :
I hate to be a worry wart, and you know I'm not fond of doctors, but have you been to see anyone for your heart? I'm worried aboutcha'!!
from tater-fay :
Boise, huh? I found this: http://www.blacktable.com/anderson040421.htm I HAVE heard that Idaho is a very pretty state but I've also heard it is very red-necky (but then again..where ISN'T?) I'd say you guys should move to Oregon, but I'm just biased!! I'd say I should move BACK TO SEATTLE..but that ain't gonna be happening anytime soon!
from tuff517 :
My husband wouldn't move either. My top places were Milwaukee, Sheboygan, La Crosse and Kenosha. Anything close to Chicago is good so I can visit my family. I miss it, too. It's part of my soul. LET'S GO! Actually I'm going in October!
from tuff517 :
First of all I hope that stupid hurricane blows far away from you. Second, it looks like we'd be neighbors, I had Wisconsin high on mine with Maryland & Connecticut close behind.
from clarity25 :
Thank you for your kind, supportive and encouraging note. It truly was a comfort to me and meant alot. thank you for always being there to lift me up when I fall, for your prayers. I wish I could understand the reasons why this is all happening to my family, I wish I knew a way to soften the judge's heart.. Life sometimes can be so harsh and cold. But I must admit..your spider entry had me laughing and improved my mood. I hate spiders too..(the thought just caused goosebumps to crawl up my arm) thank you for making me smile...
from sapphyr :
OH SWEETIE! I'm so sorry that you were terrorized by that spider but you still managed to crack me up! Thanks for the laugh, I truly needed it! ~S.
from ruthiebat :
Oh, Baby, you would never survive Alabama!! Have you ever seen a burrowing wolf spider??? Heh, heh, heh....
from tater-fay :
Well, I'm glad you killed that fucker DEAD. At least it wasn't BigFoot. I have a feeling you'd rather have BigFoot in your house than a spider like that, huh?
from tuff517 :
I'm glad I'm not the only one who can feel a bug's presence in a room. I hate stepping on them because I think they can crawl up through my shoe and attack me with their...bugness.
from clarity25 :
Thank you for the kind note, It's good to know that other's have "unpretty" days and I'm not alone with my insecure feelings. I always appreciate the notes you leave, you always have a way of comforting me. btw, loved the line "I'll let the days flow like water down the leaves":) Hope you have a great weekend!
from tuff517 :
Thanks! You caught me! I did get eyebrow extensions.
from clarity25 :
That was a moving Eulogy, What made you start thinking about that? Was it just a thought of life and death or an event?..You know after reading your entry, I stopped for a moment and started really thinking. I realized that if I did pass away suddenly..there would still be this diary online for anyone to read and I wondered..who in my private life, would find it and what would they think?
from tater-fay :
Here is a salad idea if you decide to go on a salad bender (ha ha)..my mom makes the BEST salads and so I made one for Larry and I when I came back to Oregon...it's mixed greens, feta cheese, greek olives, sliced up red bell pepper, chunks of avocado, walnut or pecan pieces, dried cherries or cranberries and it's topped off with Brianna (brand) honey-mustard dressing..it's SOOOO GOOD...bitter tastes, sweet tastes and slightly salty tastes and it's SOO healthy for you!
from godmoney :
LOL! I just love ur diaryand I hate everybodys diary.
from sapphyr :
Thank you for the lovely description of my diary! I feel a sisterly connection to you too! Congratualtions on the fence! Feel better, too! Love, ~S.
from clarity25 :
Thank you so much for your kind note, you always have a way of saying just the right things. It truly meant alot to me. I just wanted you to know that...
from haloaskew :
I know! Can you believe it?!! I overheard someone today saying a little girl she knew met Legolas (fuck -- ORLANDO) and gave him some flowers, and he gave her an autographed pic...(he is DOE DWEET!!) Someone else said the paper reported that he was at a local diner named Ramsey's with co-star Susan Sarandon and 7 other folks last night...I drove into d-town Versailles to see what was up with the movie making stuff, but they were just packing up the last load on a truck. All I can ask is that Legolas hears my plea of love and great nookins and spends the night with me instead of with his hotel room mini-bar.
from tuff517 :
Hee! At first I thought your entry was titled "Pooping"!!
from sapphyr :
Hi! I'm glad that I am not the only one dealing with storm problems. You made me LOL with your comment about the Weather Channel online! How are your dogs getting along with all of the storm activity? I hope that you feel better soon! Hugs, Sapphyr
from b0b0 :
Hi! I have begun the underwear voting on my site. If ya get a chance- please stop by and vote! Bye.
from clarity25 :
sketching with your dog curled on your lap with a view out the window of your husband landscaping DOES sound like the perfect sunday:) how relaxing and wonderful. those are the moments in life...
from ruthiebat :
Oh, my God, that's terrible! I thought our severe weather the last day or so was bad....Give those Iggies a biiiiig hug for me!
from clarity25 :
I enjoyed reading your answers to the survey!:)
from sapphyr :
I hate it when good people get screwed over! ARGH! I have been keeping good thoughts for you both through this ordeal. Thank you a million for the iced latte...it has been hell trying to avoid StarBucks($ and Calories). You are so thoughtful, going through this dilema and still managing to write out this recipe for me! I hope that you have a lovely weekend. Smooches to the pooches! ~Sapphyr
from sapphyr :
Curse those blasted mosquitos! They are critters from hell! I would love to know how you make light iced lattes! ~Sapphyr
from tater-fay :
Thanks sweetie, for your sympathy! I agree with you in that they seemingly fired me for having the asthma attack...fuckers! Oh well, things will get better and I'm looking forward to a break (and seeing the lovely flatness of the Illinois countryside again..ha ha!)
from clarity25 :
Good luck with the childrens book, wipe the clothes off your desk and get started while you have the creative motivation. I often have projects I want to start, but never sit down to do. I always regret it. I'd like to see some of your artwork some day, I really loved that collage you posted a while back with the various pictures of you.
from majnoon :
Thank you so much for your note of inspiration. I am sorry it has taken me so long to respond, but life is always crazy. I am slowly getting there and I love what you said about inner-voice. I try to frame my mind and voice to what I want. Good thoughts breed good actions--well, mostly. I must say that your inner-strength and Irish spirit keep me quite intrigued. I feel lucky to have found your diary. Rock on!
from clarity25 :
Just wanted to tell you that I really loved your last entry. I always find myself getting in the negative self-talking rut. I constantly find myself thinking "if only I did this.." or "If only I hadn't done this.." What you said was so true. Thanks for sharing your insights, btw keep that thought about the pic of your husband, I'd love to see that some day. Have a great weekend!
from clarity25 :
Just thought I'd leave a quick note to let you know that that I hope you feel better soon. Congratulations on your husband's job sales and I'm crossing my fingers for you on that new job possibility. btw, that's such a poetic compliment you got on your hair, I would melt if someone said that about mine. The only comment I've ever recieved is that my hair is "The color of a banana". not too flattering.
from tuff517 :
That whole "copper ablaze" and "garbage steeped in rum" thing had me DYING! That was one of the most eloquent things I've read today. Excellent!
from ruthiebat :
Wow!! What an amazing development!! I can understand your feelings, though, any kind of huge change like this is so scary....
from clarity25 :
Hi again, Thankyou so much for the kind note and inspiring quotes you left me. That really meant alot to me. More than I can put in words. You're church experience sounded fun, Have you ever been to a church where they speak in tongues? My friend dragged me to one and I haven't fully recovered. There was screaming, twisting bodies running through the aisles and alot of strange "languages". It sounded like gibberish and some people yelled in deep menancing tones. I just sat there, staring at my hands clasped tightly on my lap. It was incredibly loud and somewhat frightening.
from tater-fay :
I am always having feelings like I just want to "run away" or "disappear from myself" so I totally relate...you'll be better (and you know that)...."this too shall pass" (it's cliched but too true!" Eat some orange cupcakes and drink some pickle juice and you'll be mended (or you'll have one hell of a tummy ache!)
from sapphyr :
Are you a long lost sister of mine? WOW! You are the only person outside of my family that I have ever known to drink pickle juice...and the land and the shoe thing...whoa!
from clarity25 :
Thanks for the compliment on my pics, Btw. I really enjoyed your list. (leans in and whispers) I like Pickle juice too..
from tuff517 :
That was a fun entry! RE: Illinois, Neil Diamond, peanut butter - Ditto.
from everchanging :
Did you get my email about Kelly's Tavern in Ghent? I might have deleted your reply (stupid SPAM)if you sent one. Sorry the email took so long and I'm still interested in meeting up. -e.
from tater-fay :
Thanks for the note. I agree with what you are saying. I just hate having those distant feelings because I get paranoid that I'm "falling out of love" or something...ack.
from majnoon :
I'm a softy when it comes to dogs. Remember that SNL episode with Will Farrel and Molly Shannon where she says, "I Looove Dogs!" Yeah, good stuff. Either way, I am wishing y'all all the success and peace with the shifting times you're experiencing. Rock on!
from ruthiebat :
Ooooooouuuuuuurrrrrrrhhhhh!!!! oooohhhhh!!!! OOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHGGGGGGG!!! They are SO CUTE!!!!!!! So Freakin' Cuuuuuuute!!! How can you stand it?!!!!!
from sapphyr :
Okay, there are few things in this world that make me squeal like a 5 year old in a candy store...those pix are one of them! Thanks for sharing!
from everchanging :
We sound pretty similar, and yes its wierd when you read people's diaries and recognize places. We should talk, and as a back in Hampton Roads no friends geek that I am, maybe we can meet up some time. And I hear you on the food consistancy issue. There are times when I could eat one thing for a month straight. Because I'm lazy. Because its easy. Because it tastes good. And yet its always the bad stuff that I want all the time. Like soda. I could go for one right about now. -e.
from clarity25 :
I understand what you're going through, My husband and I currently work together. But I know that in a few years when we return to the states the working situation is going to change and we'll be seperated. I think I'll be experiencing similiar feelings when the time comes, I completely feel your pain and I know I'll be standing on the driveway when he leaves for the first day of work feeling like a mother watching her child go away to school. It'll be a hard change to adjust to. I believe that Eventually your scedules will fall together and everything will feel normal again. In the meantime, focusing on creative things like you described helps me when I'm feeling a little empty and vague. I feel that way alot too, It kind of washes over you, then slowly fades away.
from tater-fay :
As you've said to me in the past (or was it someone else??? "This Too Shall Pass")...Change is hard but necessary. Sending good thoughts and vibes your way, my friend.
from tuff517 :
I feel your pain on the fence issue. We all have our own privacy boundaries and so forth. Hopefully you'll be able to remedy that soon. As for your eating patterns I thought that was great reading! I love reading about other people's eating patterns. It's interesting stuff. I get on cereal kicks, too. Or macaroni & cheese ones.
from sapphyr :
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I really appreciate you adding me to your favorites! I do so enjoy your diary, therefore I feel honoured to be added to yours! Wa-do ~Sapphyr
from sapphyr :
WHOA! Thanks so much for the compliment and readership. It means alot coming from you. I love your diary! Thanks for noticing the layout too! Keep on writing! ~Sapphyr
from ruthiebat :
Wow! This entry was beauteous!! I can almost see the room!
from ashtraygurl :
I truly enjoyed reading your diary, and I loved your template colours!
from clarity25 :
Hi, I just wanted to thank you for also adding me as a favorite and tell you how much I love reading your writings. You have this way of mixing the every day reality of life with enlightened bits of the divine. Just appreciating the little moments in life.. (because basically that's what life is all about) I loved your latest entry and also your past lists on self-improvement are things I have to work on with myself as well. I find alot of your entries inspiring.. I think you're a really talented writer, with a clear perspective on life, and an honest approach. Just thought I'd let you know:)
from b0b0 :
Thats how my pups are too. I can take the one out but the little one is too crazy! The flea market sounds so fun! My hub and I used to make braclets and sell them in Venice on the sidewalk at the beach with all the other freaks! It was always fun. I think you will start feeling better now that the season is changing and its getting nicer out! At least I think I have been feeling better since getting out in the outdoors again! Anyhooo.. hadnt left a note in awhile- but I have been checkin in- ♥
from livesand :
Thanks for the addition. Ruth has just gone through a bizarre psychotic interaction with another artist that involved her diary and strange accusations. She'll probably unlock within the month. You could also leave her a note and ask for a password, which I suspect she'd do. The internet can be a strange device...
from ruthiebat :
If you are ever in Boston, please go to the Arnold Arboretum and see their bonsai house. They have some very old little trees that are just breathtaking...I miss them so much, I used to live across the street and went to see them often! Calder is a favorite of mine, too, more for his tapestries and rugs, though!
from pixieleigh :
just today in art history i learned about alexander calder for the first time... i'm going to look at his stuff now. it sounds incredible.
from ruthiebat :
Your money and my money are vacationing together in Tahiti. Or maybe wandering lost in Omaha, Nebraska. I'm sorry I've been so out of touch, too...I feel like my home is the most stressful place in America right now!!
from pixieleigh :
you seem to be quite magically cool you see...neat neat crrrazy energy. :) yay.:)
from ruthiebat :
Sometimes I feel like I have to be very secretive about life plans, too. But whatever you are up to, you know I wish you all the best!!
from tater-fay :
I had sort of imagined you looking like you actually do, which is strange. I have to agree with the sentiments below that you are a very pretty lady!! I love those Halloween pics of you!! Sending you "chaos free" vibes and plenty of good luck!! xoxoxo
from ruthiebat :
Hi Sweetie, I'm thinking about you so much these days, even if I haven't been very vocal about it. I have candles lit for you, your Gram, Charlie and Domi. By the way, you are gorgeous! Where do those guys get off drawing caricatures like that?!
from tuff517 :
It's funny how you get an image of someone when you read about their life but have never actually seen them. You look different from what I've pictured, but then again what's the chances of me picturing you exactly right? You're very pretty, from what I pieced together, you little devil.
from inkdragon :
I stopped by to check on Domi and read all about your grandmother. I am sure she feels your love surround her. I am thinking of you and all your loved ones.
from tater-fay :
Hopefully things in all areas of your life will calm down soon and you will feel better...I'm glad your Gran is doing better even if the up's and down's of that are hard to deal with, too. I've been eating alot of ice cream lately, too..and I sure wish I had a box of little Debbie Snack Cakes..yum. Keep Hanging in there!
from advice-4-you :
need advice? visit my profile to see how i can help you!
from tuff517 :
I'm sososo sorry to hear about your grandmother. I'm hoping she's as comfortable and peaceful as she can be. My thoughts are with you & your family.
from tater-fay :
oooh..I likey the tub! I really likey the pink tub! I like the picture itself with the suds and candles...it is bath-time heaven in your house!
from tuff517 :
Just wanted to let you know that you and your grandma & your family are in my thoughts.
from tater-fay :
I'm glad you are goin' to see Grandma. My grandma was a feisty Irish one like yours and I miss her still..good luck and return safely! Looking forward to my pink tub photo when you return :)
from ruthiebat :
I'll be thinking of you...
from fargahar :
My thoughts are with you and I wish your grandma the best. My grandma died 2 years ago Monday. She was the biggest influence on my life and she was the biggest loss in my life. I know how you feel. Hang in there and remember she has lived a full life of love and happiness and she is strong.
from haloaskew :
My thoughts are with you and the sweet pug!!! Good luck!
from ruthiebat :
Hi Sweetie, no thanks neccessary - you know I'm a sucker for a cute and furry face!! By the way, don't know if you knew it but Inkdragon also gave Domi a plug - she's on my favorites list (she rocks!). I think you may have gotten some referrals from her because I had a lot of hits from her about my Domi entry. Just thought you'd want to know! We should see if we can get SquirrelX involved!!
from fargahar :
So I was telling Charlie, Stewart and Grommit about The Domi today and they agreed to surrender their cookie allowance for the week. Hope it helps...the house of pug cannot let another pug go unhelped....
from cruel-irony :
Hey Girlie, I'm behind in my DLand reads but I got caught up on yours today. I'm so sorry to hear about the job unrest. I know you're water and whatnot, but having just been through something similar, I know it's stressful no matter what. And, I'm heartbroken to hear about Domi. I'm definitely sending good pug vibes your way and I'll be lighting a candle for all three of you.
from tater-fay :
God, I wish I could send you guys $$ (of course I can't, though since I don't have a DAMN JOB yet..argh!) I will specifically say a little prayer for Domi today when I light my candles and do my things..I always ask the universe (or whatever it is that I believe in) to bless all the animals in this house and I'll mention Domi as welll....good thoughts, ok?
from fargahar :
You will of course get healing pug vibes from our house....
from haloaskew :
Jeepers...I dunno if dresses and pantyhose will be required or not, but I'm planning for the worst. Hopefully, it'll be more casual!
from ruthiebat :
Hi Sweetie, I'm sorry I have been so incommunicado - I know you're going through all kinds of strss about jobs, bills, and now Domi.... I am sending all of Miss Bunny's total healing vibes (remember, she was supposed to be deceased several years ago and is now hale, hearty and eating romaine lettuce as we speak) and healing money vibes, too. Can you set up one of those paypal "donate to my good cause" accounts? I bet you'd get a bunch of donations! Heck, how could anyone resist that face?!!
from b0b0 :
Thank you for the note- thats 2 for the alarm setters and 1 for the waste awayers!
from tater-fay :
Um, could you post a picture of your pink tub? Just for ME? I'd love you forever (yea, that's what they ALL say!) PLEASE, oh Please!
from tuff517 :
What cute pictures! Adorable. The one where she's kneeling looks like a little old woman. Happy ER day!
from b0b0 :
what beautiful babies you have! That is stange ( the kneeling in the sun bit) Just that one do it or all?
from fargahar :
I hope everything works out for the best for you. I aill be sending positive thoughts your way. Hugging an ugly pugly always makes me feel better.
from irishblueyes :
Hey. I can't honestly say that I know what an archival copy is, but I can say that I am fully appreciative of anything other people are willing to offer me for free =) I know if I end up going back to school to learn how to do this web design stuff for real, I am going to have to have it, but right now I just can't see spending the money for it...but I would love and appreciate anything you have...thanks.
from irishblueyes :
Hey. Glad to know that I'm not the only person who'd rather have an old Volvo than a new car anyday. And no, it was definately not just politeness, if you ever feel like taking me up on the offer to do a design for you just feel free to ask. I am just about to start working on one for another diary buddy infact. Hopefully now that the taxes have come in, I can run out and buy Paint Shop Pro so as to make the designs even better...I don't think I'll be dropping the $600 for Photoshop though. Anyway, just let me know and tell me what you have in mind, and I'd be happy to do it for you.
from irishblueyes :
Hey. Thanks for adding me and for the compliment on the layout on the buddylist. I made it myself, so if you ever want a layout or have some ideas about what you would want, I'm always up for making one or helping out with one. I just did one for another of my diary buddies. I used to have a site, but it's on hiatus for the time being. Anyway, let me know if you ever need anything in that area! - Kris
from tater-fay :
*sniff*..goodbye Dante. He's out of his pain now, but I still get so sad when animals die (even if I don't know them)...it bothers me less when people die than animals...that probably sounds sort of sick, but I like animals more than people half the time!
from b0b0 :
I was linking some folks I read to my diary but you didnt have a link button I could find so I made one. It is on my diary but if you dont like it please let me know and I will remove it. Bye-
from irishblueyes :
Thanks for the compliment on the username, and the silly note. Look forward to reading more of your diary since it seems we have much in common. Peace. - Kristina
from b0b0 :
what a beautiful entry- I just made everyone in my office depressed cuz I made them read it all- such a good looking dog too. :(
from irishblueyes :
Hi. Just kind of found you by random and wanted to say hi and you have a great diary...(I never know what to say in the first note?!)Peace. - Kristina
from ruthiebat :
OOOOOOOHHH!!! I am cleaning my studio this weekend, tooooooo!!!! We are cleaning twins!! I am totally rearranging it so that I can actually work in it and it visually is more pleasing!! Hooray!!
from tater-fay :
I'm gonna carry that picture around in my purse and when I finally get around to the haircut I'm gonna pull it out. Wonder if some craptacular place such as Super Cuts could pull it off or if I need to spend more money and go to a better place (money I dont have)...time will tell. I LOVE the haircut. I MUST have it. I think my Aunt MJ had her hair like that in 1966..she had straight, shiny, dark-brown almost black hair. It looked so cool on her when I see those old pics!
from ruthiebat :
Thank you so much for those photos. I really needed to see them today (I'm feeling kind of upset...)and spent a few minutes just looking at them and breathing, remembering the zen peacefulness of walking in snow.
from darksight :
You put me at peace. Your words are so calming. Your spirit so beautiful. It brings a smile on my face to read your writing.
from fargahar :
Just keep repeating it over and over again...I wanted 4 dogs....I wanted 4 dogs. That is what I do. They may be hell but it is worth it when you are sitting on the couch and they are all snuggling with you. :)
from bluering :
well thank you. i happen to love it and picked it for its cheery qualities. besides, who doesn't want their own personal cheerleader?
from fargahar :
He is my old man pug. He is 13. He used to weigh about 30 pounds but for his health I put him on a diet and now he weighs about 18 lbs.
from tater-fay :
Hope you are feeling better. I had that sort of fighting/talking/crying night last night, myself. *sigh* Must be something interplanetary??
from haloaskew :
That was beautiful! Happy New Year!
from fargahar :
Wanted to say hello from one translucent skinned Irish redhead to another. I too never wear shorts for the same reason. And I am usually walking 2 pugs and carrying 1 pug! :)
from tater-fay :
That was very beautiful! I could smell and almost taste what you were describing..it was very refreshing!! Thank you!
from maskedmofo :
::small in the office jig::
from maskedmofo :
You honor me. Thank you, and Happy Holidays.
from cruel-irony :
I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Kiss the pups for me.
from haloaskew :
Happy Birthday! Yay! Here's your party hat and some cupcakes. Let's go to the theater and drool over Legolas!
from haloaskew :
Was sick...then encountered major PC problems...then busy...(yes, like a bee). Once I get my PC back to working order I'll start updating again on a regular basis...It's nice to be missed! :)
from cruel-irony :
Happy, Happy New Year! In this new year, I wish you serenity, joy and many "days off". Enjoy your celebration!
from mr-oaf :
We would be disappointed if you *didn't* do a jig...
from bluering :
that low fat, no salt diet is one of horrible cruelty and i personally think that the person who came up with it should die a slow and tortured death.
from cruel-irony :
Everything's better with bacon.
from maskedmofo :
You, milady, are quite welcome. Do your jig, and do it proudly, for it is most deserved! I came upon your diary in the previous week, while browsing the most recently updated diaries in the member area. I was greeted with words like 'I like the cold when it is still and crystalline, when a cottony batting of white hushes even the noisy city sounds.' Followed by your profile quote 'Everything in moderation, including moderation' and then soon after, your superific new [old] wagon (which I absolutely adore). I very much enjoy reading your entries. However, I would like to caution you against certain extenuating circumstance regarding my own diary. For the past three months I was almost entirely without Internet access, which I just recently reacquired. So, most of my meaty thoughtful (and thoughtless) entries are a bit farther in the past. Whereas most of my recent entries seem to be comprised mostly of rants about not having the proper access to the Internet mingled with tirades about homebuying issues. I hope I can afford you some quiet enjoyment.Cheers MMF
from mr-oaf :
When someone adds you to their list their name and diary is supposed to pop up on your profile page. Sadly, your fine addition of the TEZNEZCO! page went unremarked. But thanks be unto you - you are an atomic powered Buddah!
from tater-fay :
Your beautiful turquoise station wagon is like, TOTALLY BOSS! I WANT IT!Too bad I don't drive (and that you won't give it to me, anyways..ha ha!)
from ruthiebat :
Yes, holding bunnies will definately make you feel better. I'm here to testify. Especially if they are not the stuffed variety but the real live kind who are chewing all your shirt sleeves to bits while you hug them and tell them how ute they are. Hey, did you know that redheads are also very difficult to anesthetise? I'm here to testify on that, too. Sigh. Feel better!
from ruthiebat :
I am so sorry about Monte. I'm wondering if that sadness/apathy/depression you're feeling has been made worse by his death. I've been feeling similarly lately and I keep blaming it on the weather and on art issues, but somehow I also think it is due to getting the house and "growing up", and maybe some medical issues which I know you have as well. Sigh. Hey, I have not seen that moss book. How on earth did I miss that?!!
from majnoon :
I am touched by your unselfish act of compassion for the IG that passed. I too am a "dog friend" and my best friend is Otho (Rat Terrier). He entered my life like a Buddha-sent. I also can feel that pain of an animal dying. I feel honored for reading the words of such a fine compassionate human-being. Your tears are not wasted...
from tater-fay :
I am SO JEALOUS that you get to bathe in a big pink tub...Gawd, I NEED a big pink tub!! I will ask Larry for one for xmas! (Yea right..)
from cruel-irony :
I hear ya! All I "need" is another bookcase. Just a small one, you know? What I really need is to go through my books and donate some. Geesh.
from ruthiebat :
Hey, are you ok? I think you're on the same storm system that we just had. We're supposed to get another system through on Sunday but hopefully it will disperse before it gets to you. All puppies ok?
from haloaskew :
Sounds like you're getting what we just went through...I hope you and yours stay safe and well! I'm sure your babies are ok!
from ruthiebat :
Oh, yeah, that rice paper was a cheap and perfect solution, (they have such gorgeous papers these days...it was hard to make a choice) but as far as putting it up I'm sorry to say I just tacked it up with thumbtacks! Because it doesn't show from the outside of the windows and inside is the garage where no one with see it anyway. Maybe you can sew tabs on it and hang it like a curtain? I've sewn rice paper before - it goes through the machine just like cloth. Anyway, I can understand the frustrations with Hubby - although Bruce's big dream right now is just a GPS thingey. It's only $200 and he desperately needs it for his job, so I can't get upset about it! When we got to Alabama we had $35,000 in student loan debt (Ph.D.'s aren't cheap) and it seemed like it took me forever to get him to really take it totally seriously. I think he was in denial, and just wanted to think that now he had a job it would magically clear up. I finally got him into the Tightwad Gazette mentality, and we've paid off gigundous amounts of that debt, and have a little savings. Yup, nothing makes you want to strangle someone like disagreements about money priorities.
from tater-fay :
I don't think your entry about the Hubby and 1932 Ford was meant to be funny but it made me laugh. I've gone through the same thing with my ex Jay...only it was guitars..I really don't fucking care about your dark red Gibson, darling...I want you to pay me for your share of the utilities, fucker..ha ha..I can relate. I'm glad Larry doesn't have many obsessions, though today he was saying he wanted a new bottle of Bush Mills whiskey, but that's only like $20.00.
from haloaskew :
Wow...I definitely see the dilemma you're having with the hubby. But I might have a possible solution. First off, the idea of buying a new sink and fridge and counters, etc is about exciting to hubby as the idea of a 1930's Ford to you, right? So, you make a compromise. Now that he realizes that his desires are wants, not needs, it makes it a bit easier. You have practicality on your side, so that outweighs his car idea. BUT, it's good to have dreams and goals, and while a vintage car may be impractical, it apparently makes him very happy (which is why he's so obsessed). Also, while it may be materialistic to acquire such things, sometimes you need to buy something with your money that isn't so practical - to have a bit of fun with all the money you work for, ya know? So here's what I suggest: Write down all the things you both currently need and want into two columns. Then prioritize the items. The "need" items will obviously be the most important, but don't overlook the "want" column. Now, take the first (and maybe second) items in the "need" column (this could include paying down credit, saving for dental stuff, etc) and decide to focus on those first for the next month or so (depending on the cost). Then, agree that once those items are taken care of, you'll put some money towards his vintage car and/or upgrades to the Plymouth. Maybe a few hundred that you can tuck in savings. The cool thing is, he might want to hurry up and get the "needs" out of the way, so you guys can put some money towards his stuff. The following month, go back to the next item(s) on the need list, and once that's done, put more money towards the "wants" etc. This way, you're both closer to your goals AND the needs are coming first. Plus, I wouldn't be surprised if the dream car comes within close reach that he might change his mind and chip part of the car money towards something more important or decide he'd rather have something else less pricey and more attainable. You never know! Hope this was at least a bit helpful, and that it all works out for you guys!
from haloaskew :
Orlando Bloom....yummy!!!
from cruel-irony :
I have unpacked boxes too! I feel better knowing I'm not the only one. And, that was a moving tribute to your dad.
from tuff517 :
I wanted to come say something about what you wrote about your father, but I can't think of anything that wouldn't sound trite or stupid. But it was short and sweet and I appreciate you writing it.
from haloaskew :
Ooooo...I love weekends like that! Have you ever seen "Message in a Bottle" with Robin Wright Penn and Kevin Costner? Takes place in Wilmington, NC -- did you find any love notes in those old bottles on the beach? Which reminds me, I have a bottle that my mom gave me that she found on the shore when she was in college. It looks just like the genie bottle from "I Dream of Jeanie" but get this: My mom's name is Jeanie!
from haloaskew :
No, never been to Ocracoke, but I was planning on going at some point...I've heard about the wild ponies!
from cruel-irony :
I saw an "Iggy" last week - He was so cute! He had a sweater on, of course. Losts of Trading Spaces, While You Out, Date Parol, etc. for me too this weekend. It was restful, which is good.
from haloaskew :
Are ya goin' to Ocracoke Island, by chance?
from tater-fay :
Jesus God, woman. We are both having our periods AT THE SAME TIME! I've heard of women in the same office or living in the same house having their cycles together, but in Diaryland? Yowza! Funny, huh?
from mr-oaf :
Ah, those crazy ponies! So what would it take to get our diary listed on your favourites? Did we tell you that Nesbitt's middle name is Edna? Would that help?
from haloaskew :
Yay! I AM LOVED!
from ruthiebat :
Heya' Sweetie - that ecard was hilarious, I just went and looked at it again. Thank you, thank you! I had images of the squirrel babies dancing around ike that. By the way, that was such a creepy story you told about the little girl. I had chills going up my spine.
from tater-fay :
Wow. I could completely visual "the girl in white" as you told your story. It started to freak me out, too!! Is that your first and last experience with seeing spirits? I've seen a few things myself.
from mr-oaf :
What is "elliptical training"? That sounds very Zen.
from majnoon :
Thank you for your words of incouragement. I feel that things are passing by too fast--time slipping swift-like. Well, anyway I wanted to recommend a website that might prove useful for your TV antenna woes (http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/welcome.asp) just follow the instructions and viola the answers that were so obscure to find appear. Hope it helps. Gotta love the internet!
from mr-oaf :
We live at http://mr-oaf.diaryland.com and arrived here via Ruthiebat. We like ponies and sunflowers and singing in the rain. We also like your diary.
from tater-fay :
Happy Anniversary Weekend! What a cool wedding you guys had! I would have liked something like that..I love the kilts and dresses, etc. Very cool!
from cruel-irony :
I would've loved to have met you! Happy Anniversary! I'm not really into weddings per se, but yours sounds really cool with the bagpipes, kilts and pretty dresses. I bet it was beautiful.
from cruel-irony :
I'm a clencher and a former grinder. I wish I'd just chill more. I'm working on it though.
from tater-fay :
Know what I really like? (I just saw it for the first time today so forgive me if I'm tardy)...The White Stripes' video for "The Hardest Button to Button"....*sigh*...Jack White..
from tater-fay :
Thanks for the encouragement..I wonder what job I might be getting...I"m totally curious now! We'll see!
from cruel-irony :
Oh, I LOVE salt & vinegar chips. Actually, I just love salt & vinegar in general. And, I can really empathize with the unpacking, organizing and cleaning. I got the same problems going at my place. I've been watching TV instead. Sometimes, denial is a really, really comfortable place to be.
from tuff517 :
Your writings of vinegar made my mouth water. And hey, go you.
from cruel-irony :
Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about Charlie, and yourself. I know the brainfog will dissapate, but I'm concerned about Charlie's seizures. Keep us informed. Best wishes.
from tater-fay :
I hope you start feeling better soon!!
from ruthiebat :
Your last entry sounds like something I could have written! Bruce and I also have trouble with "discussions" as we call them, because we almost always get along. We just aren't used to dealing with conflict, and don't have very many tensions. I'm not sure either of us really know how to argue, if that makes sense...Yeah, the whole pain thing does get old. I also try to avoid really talking about my lupus in the journal because I think most people will just roll their eyes and heave great bored sighs. So if you ever need to talk and really let it rip, let me know and I'll give you my email address so you can do it in private!! I promise I won't get bored and roll my eyes!!
from fullmoonblue :
Hi there. Just took one of your quizzes then checked your latest entry. Glad to hear that Isabel treated you gently. Had my fingers crossed for everyone south of New York. Best wishes, "Fullmoonblue"
from ruthiebat :
I'm so glad you're home and safe - even the fence!! Good deal!! Have a really great trip back home!
from cruel-irony :
Phew!! I've been worried about you and sending zen your way. I'm very glad to hear everything's okay. I hope you have a wonderful adventure - I can't wait to hear about it. Take care.
from cruel-irony :
How scary! I've got my fingers crossed that everything will turn out okay. Stay safe. I'll be thinking of you all.
from tuff517 :
I hope that storm dies down some before it gets to you, or just goes away entirely!
from ruthiebat :
Hi Sweetie - if you change your mind, I'm in the directory under Fledermaus for Huntsville! Give us a call even if you change your mind at 3 am.Also, some friends asked me a long time ago to put my "disaster list" on the diary because they deal with blizzards and I never got around to it, but I'll put in on right now. You might find that you actually have more supplies than you think. A lot of things they recommend having are regular household items. Maybe at least it would give you something to focus on if you don't already have a list like that. I'm thinking aboutcha'!
from ruthiebat :
From dealing with tornadoes I am sooo worried about you - if you want to get inland and totally away from this you are quite welcome to come here, and I am completely serious about this. We are about a fifteen hour drive from you, and you can bring all the puppies. Also we have a ton of disaster supplies you could take back, in case the house has damage. I know this is so scary - evrytime the tornado sirens go off I go completely bizerk, and this is so much worse. I have my candles lit for you...
from tater-fay :
I'm sure you guys will be fine...remain calm:)
from ruthiebat :
I currently have the worst crush in the world on singer Steve Winwood. But I've had one on him for years - it waxes and wanes! I don't usually tell Bruce about my crushes because he teases me mercilessly. I'm sorry Husband isn't finding your current one amusing.
from ruthiebat :
I can't believe I wrote Nich That Han!! What a goob I am!! I am of course, meaning Thich Nhat Hahn!! Or maybe Gich Hatch Mam! Or Frich Hap Mam!!! Geeeeeez......
from ruthiebat :
Ok, I actually have a dishwasher, I have had one in the last three places we've lived, and I have never used any of them!! Neither has Bruce! When we went to visit his friends this past August they actually had to show me how to use one!! Nich That Han wrote a beautiful piece about dishwashing and staying in the moment when doing such household tasks that I loved and had over my sink when I lived in Boston. I'll have to try and track that down for you!
from cruel-irony :
I don't have a dishwasher either. When I have, I always used it as a dish drainer. I know exactly what you mean about the serenity in immersing yourself in the simple chores. And, I love my new chrome dish drainer.
from sambadelic :
I'm coveting your chrome dish drainer, never thought I needed such a thing, but now I'm sure of it. Wash me, and I shall be white as snow.
from ruthiebat :
Dayam, Woman! You're making me HUNGRY!!!
from tuff517 :
What an awesome list. And double HURRAH for Johnny Depp.
from cruel-irony :
I know exactly what you're talking about. I'm so exhausted too! Can't sleep when I get home because I have too much to do and then I get to bed too late to get my required 12-14 hours of sleep. I'm sleep-deprived every workweek then spend most of my weekend trying to make up for it. I'm really tired of being tired!
from bluering :
see, i believe the world is divided into two groups of people: those who go into hysterics when the pets they love die, and those who think pets have no souls and say "it was a just a cat/dog/whatever, no big deal". i personally like being in camp no. 1 and i'm glad to know i'm not the only pet owner out there who would collapse into hysterics...thank you for the note.
from tuff517 :
Your trip sounds like fun! That is going to be so great of you to surprise her. I hope you have a good time. You'll have to write about how the trip is, maybe next time I head up there I'll take a train, too. Glad your test results weren't too devastating and I hope you're feeling better! Have a great weekend!
from ruthiebat :
Hi Sweetie! I just got back from up North (didja' see me waving from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel?) and you have my total sympathy on the illness front. I have lupus and epilepsy and sometimes feel like I have to make it this big secret because I don't want anyone to think I'm just a malingerer. And I don't want them to think I want attention either. And you do get used to it - I have had pneumonia and several kidney infections without actually realising anything was out of the ordinary! Anyway, I'm curious about Charlie's seizures - I've known a few dogs with seizure disorders. Could it be his neglected background? Poor little guy!
from cruel-irony :
Touche', Woman! I'm with you on all that.
from majnoon :
I know the "token" comfort messages and such get old after a while, especially when you're having to deal with a myriad of problems, but I want to offer my sympathies. I understand what it means to be the "limiting factor" as you say (I have muscular dystrophy and suffer from Cluster Headaches). The pain factor is hard for others to understand. Cluster Headaches are extremely painful and I had to endure 6 years of bad pain before someone finally "listened" to what I was telling them--even now, people still don't get how bad it hurts. The best thing I can wish for you is to be healthy and pain-free! Nevertheless, if that doesn't remedy things, I wish for you to find a good doctor who will "listen". I wish you strength and all the best. Listening...
from cruel-irony :
Wow, I bet you can hardly wait until Wednesday! I hate it when they require that you have a full bladder for the ultrasound... that's pure torture there. Anyway, best wishes on all the testing AND the results. You'll be in my thoughts.
from tuff517 :
That one of Willow has got to be the MOST precious face I've ever seen.
from tuff517 :
I'm so there with you on the IBS deal, I've got colitis. Hope you get some answers soon on what's ailing you.
from cruel-irony :
Oh, I HATE those days! I like that spittin' idea though. I might have to try that, but I think I'll add hissing to it.
from majnoon :
I hope things start to look up. I truly wish you well and good health. Ride the storm, as they say, and pretty soon clear skies will burst forth!
from cruel-irony :
Yikes! I hope you're feeling better soon.
from tater-fay :
Good luck with the low-carb, Atkins thing! I did it a couple summers ago. I felt pretty darn good after the first week, so don't worry..you will find that you have SO MUCH MORE ENERGY...and to this day I just don't like things that are too sugary..I lost my taste for sugar, which is a good thing! Make sure you drink BUTTLOADS (what consitutes a buttload, I wonder?) of water!!
from ruthiebat :
Hey, you feel better, now, y'hear?! Turns out I will be waving from the Chesapeake Bay Brdge Tunnel thingey after all as Bruce has changed our driving scheme for the umpteenth time. You know, that bridge/tunnel really scares me! So it'll be a very nervous wave. But I'll still throw dog biscuits!
from cruel-irony :
Hope you feel better soon! Thanks for the Friday Zen... I need a little zen going on at the moment.
from ruthiebat :
Wow, I'll not only wave, I'll throw doggie biscuits! Bruce's dad used to live in Va. Beach, before he moved to Baltimore, and I used to love going to the beach there! I miss it! We'll be going the Maryland way, up Highway 50. I've never been to Chincoteaque so I'm looking forward to it!
from ruthiebat :
Hey Sweets, Thanks for the supportive note, and I hope you are feeling good, happy and energised now, too. It seems like a lot of people are experiencing some strange times....how's that Charlie doin'? I always find when we take in a new "buddy" I get sort of stressed and disjointed for awhile, like it takes me some time to get used to the new little face, no matter how much in love I am, and the group dynamics change.....could this be part of your feelings? Anyway, I'm feeling a lot better today, I just slept all day yesterday! And thanks for the Friday Zen - you know I love it!
from cruel-irony :
I hope you feel better real soon. That kinda stuff can really drain the life outta ya. I'm sending good wishes and tranquility your way.
from tater-fay :
"This too shall pass"..you'll be ok, sweetie. Just relax a little more and DO a little less for awhile.....I hope you feel better soon! Take care of YOURSELF!
from ruthiebat :
How's that Charlie Sweetums? Hey, I have been trying to find out more about that Greyhound legislation and cannot raise a peep of it. I have a message in to the State House but they haven't called me back. DId you see it on a web site? All I've been able to uncover was a hideous case of a guy executing retired racers last year and it seems all hell broke loose after that, so I can't imagine this new proposed law would pass, but anyway, I'd like to find out more if you have more info. Thanks! Give those furry guys a kiss for me!
from ruthiebat :
Chewing, sleeping or farting - are you sure Domi isn't a rabbit?
from haloaskew :
Hope you start feeling better! Migraines must be on the agenda for DLers - Weetabix has one too!
from cruel-irony :
Phew! I was starting to think I might be a bit odd. HAHAHAHA! Actually, I know I'm a bit odd, but I've always thought my furniture ownership was within the normal range. And, actually, I got rid of some to move. Thanks for stopping by! You made me feel better.
from ruthiebat :
Nah, I didn't feel at all like you were dissing Alabama! And I sure as hey want to know about this sort of thing - especially if it's happening here because I have a better chance of being able to do something about it than if it's in some other state. Does that make sense? Anyway, I'm going to check it out. Oooooh, I am just ITCHING for more Charlie pictures!!!
from ruthiebat :
Good freakin' Lord! I just read your note about the Greyhounds - thanks for the heads up! Our humane organizations are pretty good here and I can't believe thay would let that go without a fight. I'm going to call our local no kill shelter, I'm sure they'll know what's going on. DO you know most states classify rabbits as livestock? It makes my blood boil!!
from ruthiebat :
Dang, I love that Friday Zen....Hey, take a right in North Carolina and come see me - I want to meet that adorable lil' doggie, toothless or no!! Hey, good luck, drive safe, ok?
from cruel-irony :
Hey, I've been taking soothing evening showers also. So far, I absolutely LOVE living downtown; I should've moved there years ago! Sorry, to hear your commute time increased, but your new home sounds so wonderful. Good luck on your projects!
from haloaskew :
A nail gun...a NAIL gun! *brushing aside the tears of joy* How did you know it's the one power tool I've always wanted? Thank you so much...and the congrats and your jig of excitement - It's almost too much happiness for one person to bear!
from ruthiebat :
(snuffing, whining noises) Big pink bathtub?!! Urrrmmm, snuff, errrrm.... me want big pink bathtub! PINK!!!! Urrrrrrrmmmmmmmmm.....piiiiiink......
from cruel-irony :
I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who writes wacky stuff on moving boxes. Frank the mover thought it was pretty funny too!
from cruel-irony :
Yay! That's great that you got Charlie back! He's so lucky to have a wonderful home, and you're so lucky, well, to have Charlie. He's sooo cute. Congrats!
from ruthiebat :
Wow -- AWRIGHT!!!! Dayam, that little doggie is adorable, he's running neck-n-neck with the bunnies on cuteness, that's for sure!! I'm so happy for you and Charlie!
from ruthiebat :
I'm going to light a candle for your talk with hubby about Charlie...I know you really want him and I'll be thinking about you tonight.
from cruel-irony :
Yeah, I remember you said you were going all summer without cable. Uh, I'm not quite THAT ambitious. Of course, I don't have as many projects as you do either. I hope today is going better than yesterday for you!
from sambadelic :
I needed someone to draw a line between Jack White and High School Pep Band for me today, I just didn't realize it until I read that entry. Thanks.
from ruthiebat :
Wow! Now I finally know a good comeback to that "What is the sound of one hand clapping?" question!
from cruel-irony :
Thanks for the well wishes. When I'm done with them, I'll send them right back at you... because you know what I'm going through and I know what you're dealing with. I have to say that purging all my junk was a great idea even though it's kept me from packing. Of course, I have much less to pack now. However, I haven't tackled my books yet. That's a whole different thing. Oh, and personally? I love your idea of using the master bedroom as an alternative space. That's some great thinking there.
from sambadelic :
Pink bathtub! Wow. I want one.
from majnoon :
Two truly awesome people finding each other is a miracle in itself, but I feel that you've done it. Husband seems like a very interesting person and it's already been established that you're cool, so hey...y'all are wonderful. Very romantic and suave. I admire martial artist to no end--martial arts and the inner disciplines are very big interests of mine. I just wanted to say that I loved the "husband" entry. Well done.
from haloaskew :
Let's see - lemme name some good ones off the top of my head: Two Weeks Notice, Catch Me if You Can, Office Space, Fandango (older movie with Kevin Costner), About a Boy, Turner & Hooch, Birthday Girl, Dangerous Beauty (sassy!), Chasing Amy, This is Spinal Tap, Analyze That, Mr. Mom, Fools Rush In, Message in a Bottle, Annie Hall...
from tater-fay :
Sexy movies (to me anyways) that you might enjoy watching while the hubby is away: Y Tu Mama Tambien (sexy guys..I think), Secretary is a great movie. Hmmmm...that is all I can think of now!
from haloaskew :
Thank ya for the bday wishes! And I'm so glad to hear the surgery went well! You need to relax and curl up with the Iggies.
from basria :
Good luck on your surgery. Hope everything turns out the way you want it to.
from ruthiebat :
On top of all your other stress....I'm sending lots of calm and blue light and Flanders Poppies and every other happy energy thingey I can think of your way.
from cruel-irony :
Best wishes on your surgery and speeding recovery! I'm sending you zen-like thoughts!
from ruthiebat :
Wow! That townhouse was spotless! And the new house is so cool! We must have our toast to funky 50's bathrooms soon! The Flanders Poppies are beautiful, even more than I had thought! I'm really getting a big energy charge out of the big red flowers. I'm glad someone else has plant obsessions, too. When we were in Florida a few weeks ago there were many roadside stands of bonsai! I'd never seen that before. Unfortunately we were having car problems and didn't want to make too many stops, but we'll be going down again in July and I'll see what the offerings are!
from cruel-irony :
I'm sending you energy and tranquility. Boy, you guys have accomplished a lot in such a short time. I'm totally respecting that since I'm doing the same myself.
from tater-fay :
Wow. What a blissful feeling. I have those occassionally and I just feel that every core of my being, every cell is alive in a way that I never realized and connected to all the other cells (Nope..I didn't drop acid this morning, man!) Beautiful entry, though!
from ruthiebat :
I am seriously feeling for you, Sweetie. I been there. Lord have I been there!! This, too, shall pass!!
from sambadelic :
It's good music to pack, clean and peel wallpaper to!
from tuff517 :
Me again. I shocked myself one day by realizing that I now say "soda" without even thinking about it. After 22 years of saying "pop". I am a traitor to my homeland.
from tuff517 :
Hey, maybe when I go to North Carolina in July I'll come help you kill centipedes. If you call standing eight feet away, screaming and emptying a spray can of Raid onto one bug helpful.
from claritylit :
I was looking around for new diaries to read, and once I read that not only were you also moving, but that the 'buddha' in your username actually had something to do with Buddhism, I was hooked. Good luck with your move this weekend.
from cruel-irony :
Thanks for the Thursday/Friday Zen - those were exactly the things I needed to hear! I'm so very glad you got paid and good luck with all the moving stuff!
from tater-fay :
that just sucks the biggest dick (excuse my vulgarity, madam!)...I can't believe companies can actually legally EXIST and pay their employees late or not pay them at all when they said they would...JESUS! I hope it all works out for ya!
from tuff517 :
Aw man, I hope things start to pick up for you soon. I'm going to go home and light a candle for you. A candle that smells good, that is. Not just light a candle and say, "Oh, that's for atomicbuddha." You know?
from skibigsky :
sorry about the paycheck thing - I worked for a ski resort that was like your old job - we never knew if the checks were going to clear or not. And the mgmt never seemed to care that we were all living paycheck-to-paycheck, and not paying us was not going to go over well with all of our respective landlords. Good luck!
from ruthiebat :
I am sooooooo with you - I remember those last few days in our old house so well, and how totally hysterical it was. And all those dang boxes! I'm sending you calming vibes....
from haloaskew :
Man oh man...your entry reminds me of those last few days before my move, but you've even got more to contend with! You might have to give in and do "random shit in a box" packing to speed things up...you'll wind up doing it the day before anyway, so might as well bite the bullet! ;) Before you do that, try to get a box together with first week essentials -- basic cleaning supplies, paper towels, bath soap, towels, shampoo, kleenex/t.p., can opener, coffee/tea, coffee cups, spoons/ forks/knifes, paper towels, garbage bags, radio, extension cord, pen/notepad, tape, pet food, snacky stuff, ibuprofen, band-aids, etc etc. And for sore muscles, try those Therma-Wraps (the back/hip ones are great - you can wear them for 8+ hours -- like a portable heating pad!) Good luck on the move!! Try not to stress out too much...remember, soon it will all be over! :)
from haloaskew :
Thank you for your note of sympathy about Izzy. I know he's still around, somewhere close, probably having a heckuva good time! But I do miss him though. He was such a sweetheart. One of these days, when I get a gold membership, I'll post a pic -- you really must see those cheekbones of his!
from cruel-irony :
I hope you feel better very, very soon! I worked on home projects all weekend long too which totally flared me up. But it's such a relief to finish up things. Anyway, I hope your current pain is only temporary.
from tater-fay :
Unsolicited advice is always fine by me:) All Jay and I can do is wait and see how we feel once we are apart for awhile...thanks for sympathizing! I'm just glad we don't have kids and shit!
from tater-fay :
as Ozzy said "no more tears.." (or was that Johnson's baby shampoo? ha ha!) PMS sucks..I'm finally over mine!
from tuff517 :
Try soaking your finances in epsom salts. I heard that's good to do when you hurt them. It's never worked for me.
from haloaskew :
Word of Warning: Be very careful about using U-Haul. I have been screwed by them TWICE. I thought the first time was a fluke (small town, a gas station that had rented some U-Haul trucks), so I tried them again several years later (big U-Haul place in a large city). Both times, I booked the trucks WELL in advance, called several days ahead to double-check my reservation (all ok), but when I showed up on moving day, they had no trucks, and I had to spend frantic hours scrabbling for another vehicle. I've heard other people (my brother, being one) have had the same trouble. They'll give out your reserved truck for in town moving to someone else who's moving out of town (more money for them). If you have a Public Storage outlet with trucks, try them - you rent the truck for a specified time slot and they will NOT give out your truck to anyone else (I booked two time slots back to back and I'm glad I did!) At least, that's how it was a few years ago. If you can't get a Public Storage truck, try someplace that has a similar policy. Good luck!!!
from cruel-irony :
The fence sounds great! And, I'm sending good wishes your way.
from ruthiebat :
Yes! It means everything to me!! I've noticed that type of fence when we've been wandering around garden centers. Oooh, cedar! We're fortunate to have some cedar trees in our back jungle and the smelll....it makes me ecstatic! Yup, it's a great type of wood.
from haloaskew :
I sure do remember Stretch Armstrong, but the one I had was Ollie the Octopus. I remember he was blue and his legs were...greasy. It was odd. I think my parents wound up taking him back to the store because it was rather unpleasant to tug on greasy rubber legs.
from sambadelic :
Glad you got the music so fast! It's a kind of middle eastern/north and west african groove with a bit of pan-hindu-hop thrown in for additional spice flavor. I could email more detail if your interested.
from ruthiebat :
I bet you will love the IG outing - the House Rabbit Society has BYOB (Bring Your Own Bunny) days and they are a blast!! Even though they are all about a bunch of bunnies humping in someone's backyard!! Even if you have nothing in common with the other dog people you'll realise it doesn't matter because all the focus is on the cute and adorable animals.
from tater-fay :
Wow...you have a DOG room? My cats would LOVE to have a cat room. Maybe some day!! Feng Shui fascinates me, by the way. Make sure to put plants in your bathroom so all your chi doesn't go spiraling down the drains (oh, and no white sheets:))
from cruel-irony :
You're not boring me... I LOVE redecorating and design. It sounds like things are coming along very well, albeit not without some hard work!
from tater-fay :
First off..as a fellow red head (ok..it's not natural and it's not auburn..it's more cherry red) I think ANY redheads look good in Orange. Orange is my favorite color. The old rules about redheads not wearing red pink or orange...throw those away! Oh, and I actually do love beets! I love their color too...I used to wish my hair was that color!
from ruthiebat :
Hi Sweetie! Thanks so much for the candle and good energy - it seems to be working. I was trying to be light about it on the diary but honestly, it's been a very scary week here. And we've been so lucky, compared to what could have happened. By the way, you have the cutest little rancher! Nice windows! And $1450 doesn't sound like a lot for that amount of electrical work. Friends of ours just had a similar amount done and it was $3000! I think you got a good deal.
from sambadelic :
Yes the centipedes, they loooove the rotting leaf scene. I found gobs of them over the weekend raking around my yard. Gross! Get those leaves AWAAAY from your investment, like NOW!
from cruel-irony :
Congratulations on the house! I'm so happy for you guys. Thanks for the note too.
from tater-fay :
weird coincidence: you referring to yourself as a puffer fish today..and me calling Jay a puffer fish last night (we also have a REAL pufferfish..yea..it's dead) hanging from our living room ceiling light...puffer fish, puffer fish.
from haloaskew :
I totally forgot to send you my house name suggestions! Ok, these are pretty simple, but here you go: Zen Willow Ranch (or Willow Zen Ranch), Zenith Ranch (you've got the word "zen" in there, but it also means "highest point" which could be very symbolic in a variety of ways), or perhaps Willow Bend Ranch (you've got the doggy name in there, plus the idea of being flexible and bending with the wind). I'm so happy for you! Congrats!
from ruthiebat :
I'm going to put the drawer pull website in my diary today because I can't figure out how to link it here in the notes! I'm hopeless!!
from majnoon :
A thousand thanks for your kind words. I want to wish you well in your new venture with the house. The entry you made with candy and money was very neat and so apt--I'd add ringing bells in the corner (or clapping really loudly, tis a Shinto/Bon/general good thing) to dispel any negative stuff. I like how you ask for help with a name! I have some suggestions: 1. Sono Mama = which is a colloquial meaning "just as it is" a Zen term for suchness or isness of all things. 2. Koji Katei, or Koji Uchi, or Koji Shotai = all meaning a household for a lay disciple of Zen. 3. Mu Shotai, or Mu Katei, or Mu Uchi = Mu means not or no, the negative which is beyond mere positive and negative...and the end words are all meaning house/household. 4. Sukha ending in Shotai, Katei, or Uchi = happiness house. I hope some of these sound cool. I'll try to think of some more later.
from tater-fay :
Hmmm..I think you should call it Chartreuse Manor (? Why? I haven't a clue!)
from tuff517 :
Excellent excellent!! Congrats on the new home and maybe you'll find (as I did) that you'll be spending a lot more money at the home improvement stores. Yay for you!
from ruthiebat :
Hall-ay-lew-yah!!! You have a house!!! Reading this entry brought back such happy memories of our first hours in our own house, and reminded me of how much I love this place and how grateful I am to have it! Hooray!! I also remembered, when you mentioned cabinet hardware, that a place called Notting Hill Knobs on the internet has drawer pulls with Buddha heads on them! If you want I can find you the URL - they were very cool! They also had yin yangs and the Om symbol! I'm sooooo thrilled for you! Yahoo!!
from ruthiebat :
Yup, a few days after you close we'll pick a time and each in our own respective cool funky 50's bathrooms we'll pour a sparkling apple cider toast!! Yahoo!!
from haloaskew :
Fingers, toes and eyes crossed for ya! Good luck with the closing! (P.S. I'd skip eating breakfast tomorrow if I were you...) ;)
from tuff517 :
Good luck! I'm sure everything will go swimmingly. Ooh, look at me, all fancy adverby!
from cruel-irony :
My eyes are crossed! Best wishes on the closing... don't forget to breathe.
from majnoon :
I found your diary through a search for people listing "The Philadelphia Story" as a favorite movie. Good movie indeed--very witty. Moderation in moderation sold me and I must say I really enjoy your words--and your favorite color as well "(very specific, desaturated [as in lotsa grey added to it...washed out] aqua green-blue)." I did intend to quit writing in my diary, but as with all things, that ending ended and now I want to continue; though in a somewhat different way. Thank you for leaving a note and your compliments. Your style and tone really flow well together and I look forward to future entries.
from ruthiebat :
One more day! One more day! And then we'll BOTH own 1959 ranchers!!!! We can compare funky bathrooms!!! Hooray!!
from tater-fay :
God..WHERE in Illinois did you used to live (? did we have this conversation before?)?? I'm from Champaign, born in Oak Park...Kroger isn't so hot..but IGA...they SUCK! (Or are Kroger and IGA the same?) I love shopping at Safeway's...I read about "Safeway" in fictional books and then I moved to Seattle and there were SAFEWAY's...amazing! There is also a semi-ghetto grocery chain: Red Apple. Cute name.
from cruel-irony :
Ugh, I hear you on the whole new grocery store things. I've been in my new 'hood for 3 years now and I still miss my old store. And, post office, restaurants and pet store. On another note, I wish you the best on your closing! It's one of the most traumatic, but good things you experience in life. My thoughts are with you.
from scraps :
Thank you for listing me in your favorites and for saying such flattering things about my diary there. Hugs, Ciara
from ruthiebat :
Yeah, 5 more days, Baby!!!! 5 MORE DAYS!!!! Yeah, I'm with you!!!!! Actually the Kroger's here are not too bad! We mess with grocery store names, too - the Publix has become the Pubics and Food Lion is Ant Lion. The best grocery store name ever? Piggly Wiggly!! By the way, I've never told you how much I like the Friday zen. Something to take with me into the vast blue sky of the weekend!
from tuff517 :
I feel your pain on the grocery store deal, I miss Jewel/Osco and now shop at HEB. HEB. Yeah. I hope the closing is as smooth as possible for you, ours was and it was so nice to have it done. Have a good weekend!
from sambadelic :
HI-just wanted you to know I'm feelin' ya on the countdown, and frankly, it's so freaking close to home for me that it's STRESSING ME OUT!!! I was an emotional wreck when we bought our house-before/during/after. There should really be more institutionalized support for people going through it! It seems backwards that people getting married have showers, receptions, lots of family around and gifts etc. but people trying to buy a house have their emotions at the mercy of strangers and faceless institutions. ARGH! Hang in there.
from cruel-irony :
Willow is just precious! Who could resist that little cutie?
from ruthiebat :
Eeeeeuuuuuuurrrrrrrggggg!!!! Ack! Ack! CUTE!!!!!!! Can I be Miss Willow's bee-atch, too?!!!!! Maaaaaaaan, that puppy dog is TOO CUTE!!!!!!
from haloaskew :
I went crazy just moving to a new apartment, so all your house buying stuff must be driving you absolutely nuts! I know you're stressing out big time, but hang in there!! (picture a kitten hanging from a tree limb, or you hanging from the rain gutter on your new house) Heh!
from tater-fay :
Yes, I concur (about the childless thing)!! Damn..I keep forgetting to add you to my faves (isn't THAT a back-handed compliment?) gonna go do that now since I read you frequently!
from ruthiebat :
Hi Darlin'! We'll talk about the feltmaking AFTER you close on the house!! 'Cuz, believe me, I know exactly how you feel right now! I was calling our buyer's agent every day because I just could not believe it was going to happen without any weird hitches. I drove the poor guy nuts! I've got a little candle on my altar for ya'!
from cruel-irony :
That's EXACTLY what I'm talking about!!! (In regards to the bridal shower thing.) Lord, all the drama, money and narcissism involved... it's too much for me. And, I didn't even get to how I feel about ridiculous weddings. I don't get "it" and I don't think I ever will.
from ruthiebat :
Happy 100th!!! Heehee! After reading your note now I really badly want to do felting. Do you think I can teach myself from a book? Or is it something you have to have someone walk you through? Just the kind of questions you really want to think about when you're in the "I'm closing in 13 days and what the heck is going to go wrong it must be SOMETHING!!!" mode, right?!
from cruel-irony :
I'm glad to hear that you're getting reconnected with Aunt Kelly. How exciting!
from tuff517 :
Happy 100th entry to youuu, happy 100th entry to youuu, happy 100th ENTRY dear atomicbuddhaaaaaaa, happy 100th entryyyyy toooo youuuuuu, and many morrre.
from haloaskew :
Thanks! It's nice to know I was missed. I, too, long for the day when I can write an entry titled "Fuckwad Was Evicted!" Ha! Hey, by the way, I noticed you wrote your 100th entry...cool beans! Here's a little 100th entry cupcake for ya (yum!)
from tuff517 :
How could I forget that I watched "Married by America" last night!! That was the BEST SHOW EVER. I enjoyed the 2nd "wedding" immensely.
from ruthiebat :
Hey, I'm curious about the murals! Are you doing them in someone's house or outdoors? Give the doggums a kiss for me!
from tater-fay :
Glad to know I'm not the only one feeling those feelings! I wish I could have seen the live footage of the statue being ripped down! WOW!
from ruthiebat :
Yeah, I want a whole entry about Sullivan!!
from ruthiebat :
Just wondering how Sullivan was doing - I felt an immediate sondness for him because when I lived in Boston we would call men with the last name Sullivan "Sully" and they were inevitably "good old boy" townie sorts. It's kind of goofy to think of an Italian Greyhound this way! Anyway, I hope you've dug out from the pile of paperwork - remember that lending places have a real motivation to give you the mortgage, because they get lots of interest money in return, so they'll do whatever they can to let you skirt the rules. I just really think you'll get it, but I remember all the overwhelming feelings that I went through when we were doing this, too! Deeeeep breaths!!! Warm baths! Cuddle those Iggies!!!
from haloaskew :
Wow, you are under a lot of stress! I feel so bad for what you're having to go through right now! Now, I'm not sure about the gift loan tracking thing, but if there's an issue with it, I'm SURE you guys will find an alternate solution. To ease some of your tension, you might try looking around some financial sites to see if there are some advice columns from experts that deal with the home buying process. Check out morningstar.com, Suze Orman's site, MSN's money area, etc. As for the overwhelming amount of papers lying around, here's a possible solution: Just gather it all up in a big pile and put it in a box or an expandable folder, etc and label it "House paperwork - To Re-File" and set it someplace where you can easily find it, BUT that's out of your hair. Then maybe when you're watching TV one night or something, you can start sorting through it. One of my favorite quotes is "Action comes before motivation," so just the act of beginning something will oftentimes spur you into finishing (or at least help you make a big dent). So with your laundry, for example, just do ONE load of the most essential stuff and forget about all the rest for now. You can even leave it in the dryer and fluff it when you need it if you don't have the energy to fold it. I wish I were there to buy some groceries for you so you didn't have to fool with it! When I was doing all my moving stuff, I mostly ate take-out to save myself the worry of shopping, etc. And hey, there's always pizza that can be delivered! I really hope things start settling down for you soon. I know how overwhelming it all can get sometimes. Take care and give yourself some permission to veg out for awhile (may I recommend a strong drink?) ;)
from cruel-irony :
Congratulations on the loan approval!! What a relief. Oh, and on the car too... she'a a beauty.
from ruthiebat :
Um, yeah, but there's a really big difference between your pennywhistles and mine. The difference is that yours get played!!! I am still struggling so hard with mine, I can barely play "London Bridge"! It's pathetic, but I continue to struggle! Have you been to www.larkintheam.com? It's a fantastic site for all kinds of musical instruments. It makes me really wish I had some talent in that department. Sigh! Hey, I am crossing everything, even my hair for you! Bruce and I had wacky credit when he got out of grad school but got things sorted out, and I was surprised how nonchalant our lender was. I bet they wouldn't even let you apply if they weren't sure they'd lend to you. Oh, my favorite Beatle was actually George! I was crazy about him - he's the reason I started looking at more spiritual things at a young age because he was so interested in Eastern religion. I confess I cried when he passed away. Jeez, what a long note!
from haloaskew :
Yep, I highly recommend you throw whatever you can away before you move (although I tried this myself with VERY LITTLE luck!) I will try to give Rowdy some kisses if I have a chance. Don't think I haven't been tempted (I just hope his owners don't think I'm nuts if I ask to give him a smooch!) That's so cool about the car! My dad used to collect antique cars (Packards, in particular) so I know how pricey the restoring can be. And good luck with all the house stuff!
from ruthiebat :
Wow...what a cool car! Wow! WOW!!
from haloaskew :
I just realized something coincidental...there's a little dog named Rowdy who lives around the corner. I always see him with his owners, jumping around out in the courtyard. He is ADORABLE. I didn't know what kind of breed he was and his owner told me about a week ago that he's an Italian Greyhound. How weird is that??
from haloaskew :
I know what you mean about credit being the devil. I paid off a shitload on my one card in a year's time (was very proud of that), only to run it up even MORE this past year. I have to get back on my credit card pay off plan again...sending lump sums twice a month. Argggg. It's painful, but I must bite the bullet!
from ruthiebat :
Oh, you know, someone once told me I reminded them of an Italian Greyhound, and after reading about your iggies I realise that was an incredible compliment!!
from ruthiebat :
Yes, I definately get that long lost sister feeling from your diary, too! And I have red hair, and I notice you're on the redheads list! Ooooooo! Thank you for the sympathies about Ty, I am still crying about him and probably always will miss him. Shang Bang-alang is such a great Siamese cat name! They get to you, don't they? If you go back to the earliest entries in my journal up through August of last year you'll get my whole long tortuous house hunting story. Gad, it was hell! Hey, congratulations, it sounds like yours is finally going to be over!! I will cross my fingers major league for you!!
from ruthiebat :
Hi, found your diary through sambadelic and tater, and just wanted to tell you we went throught the house hunting insanity last year. We actually bought a 1959 house that sounds very similar to the one you're looking at but in slightly better shape. Fortunately the seller fixed almost everything for us. Maybe you'll get lucky!! It's hell, isn't it? You have my sympathy!!
from ehadams :
Haha, look at the cute scrawny puppies! They look like they could use some fuzzy sweaters. ;)
from haloaskew :
Per your request: *Slap! Slap!* (GET A HOLD OF YOURSELF, WOMAN!) But seriously, best of luck on the house! Try not to worry too much and have a great weekend!
from cruel-irony :
I've got my fingers and toes crossed for the new house! And, my oh my, Charlie is adorable. Best of luck on both accounts.
from tuff517 :
I know just how you feel! I've wanted to get a dog for 2 years now and now we're getting berber carpet so my husband is convinced we're not getting a dog. I told him he can sleep outside. Good luck on coming to a decision. If you want my opinion I say go get him!
from haloaskew :
From what you've written, I think you and Charlie are meant to be together too. So keep the faith and the realm of possibilities open. Sounds like he's a wonderful little doggie and would make a great addition to the crew! I'm very touched by all you did for this sweet creature!
from z0tl :
at last i found nothing. and it comes in atomic flavor. yumness :z
from cruel-irony :
Thanks for all the whatfuckingever. I appreciate it! Hopefully, I'll be feeling better soon. Hope you're well.
from haloaskew :
Thanks for doing a jig for me. You shall be rewarded in the afterlife. And hey, guess what? I have purple in my new bathroom! Actually, purple and green. Looks like a big bruise. No, really...the colors are quite nice and work very well together. I'm so happy to hear that purple is a strong prosperity color! Now I shall wait for massive amounts of dough to float into my life from all corners of the universe...
from skatiebear :
you seem like a really interesting person. im nottryingto be a creepy chick or anthing but i think you are an interesting person
from haloaskew :
Thanks for the words of encouragement...I'll try my best to hang in there and get through this! If you need any bubblewrap, you just let me know, ya hear? Oh, by the way, cucumbers are one of my fave foods too. So NUMBY! I let them soak in the fridge either in vinegar OR cold water with ice cubes and plenty of salt and pepper. 'Licious!
from cruel-irony :
Thanks for the note. I've been quite nostalgic about those days lately. We had such a blast together and I really miss 'em.
from cruel-irony :
Yikes! I'm glad you're okay but that shit is scary huh? And, blow pops RAWK! Take care and don't do anymore of that scary stuff.
from haloaskew :
I have $5 and a bag of Charms Blow-Pops. Am I the highest bidder? Because I NEED one more crab-assed man in my life...
from cruel-irony :
I LOVE this: "I would like to leave you with a couple quotes to ponder for the weekend...or you could ignore me, that would be fine too." That's classic, just plain classic! Have a wonderful and interdependent weekend.
from sambadelic :
P.P.S. - Just knowing how much you like the tape is repayment aplenty!
from sambadelic :
I'm sooo glad you got it and you're listening to it and you like it! I made myself a copy, and have been enjoying it in my car alot lately- oh and spazercising to it at home too, 'cause I got all ambitious to exercise right about the same time you hollared out your need for somethin' funky. P.S. I had a C-section, and there was NO pooping involved.
from haloaskew :
I love Jeff Corwin too! They had a marathon of his show back in December and I got hooked. Had a major crush on him for about a week. Now it's cooled into a mild infatuation. He's such a doll! And I love it when he does voices and acts like he's having conversations with the animals. Heh! And as far as The Actor's Studio, did you see the one with the cast of the Simpsons, or the one with Mike Myers? Hilarious!!
from tuff517 :
I had two friends tell me that they both pooped when they gave birth. Not a lot, though. I think they used to give enemas before/during labor, but they don't anymore?? Not sure about that one. Wasn't Scrubs great?
from tuff517 :
I just think it's frigging cool that you can break wood with your hand/foot/elbow/knee/finger. I want to break wood. Maybe I'll start with my husband's. Just kidding!
from cruel-irony :
Not knowing where I'm gonna hang my hat and all that other stuff would drive me bonkers too! I hate that kinda stress. Good luck.
from cruel-irony :
Thanks. I think my new layout rocks the botanical world too! That Trance - she's one great designer. I'm glad you're feeling better.
from sambadelic :
I just finished making it tonight! I hope you don't mind a bit of umm...texture in your music, 'cause some of it's taped from thrift store bought 45's older than me. I'm sure it's good for the digestion.
from sambadelic :
Lovely. Prismatacular! I should have your tape done here pretty soon. I'm sloooow.
from tuff517 :
Ok, if you would be so kind as to email me your address ([email protected]) I will mail your CDs out. Also, your entry yesterday about your nose turning into a big bloody-snotty snotball machine was so vivid that it haunts me still.
from sambadelic :
I'm making a big YUK face after reading that - but I'm so there with you...I have to look! And it's so disgustingly satisfying to spew big glom! Ack.
from cruel-irony :
Blue's exactly what I need... healing, tranquility, etc. I think I'll light a blue candle for both of us.
from cruel-irony :
Hope you're breathing easy soon and feeling better. You've been having such a hard time lately and you've been on my mind. Keep on hacking out the snot!
from tuff517 :
Something that may (or may not) cheer you up: I was on the phone with my sister, she said she had cramps, her 5 year old said "You have crabs?" Also, I am furiously in the process of making your CDs, I have not forgotten you.
from haloaskew :
Thanks for leaving me a note! :) As for your request for new tunes, I have a few suggestions. I don't really like most of the stuff out these days, but here are some of my random favorites from different decades: A-HA (Scoundrel Days album), Aztec Camera (Love album), Etta James, Bond, ABBA Greatest Hits, John Lennon Greatest Hits, Three Dog Night, Stevie Wonder, Barenaked Ladies, Sinatra, Herb Alpert, Bobby Darin Greatest Hits (a MUST), John Denver Greatest Hits, Brian Setzer Orchestra, Annie Lennox, The Fifth Dimension, John Mayer, Glen Campbell, Janis Joplin, Huey Lewis and the News, Doors, Frente, Norah Jones, Jack Johnson, Cocteau Twins (Heaven or Las Vegas album), Keely Smith, Dean Martin, etc. Soundtracks: Corrina, Corrina, Party Girl, Saturday Night Fever, Swingers, The Commitments, Rain Man (another MUST!), My Best Friend's Wedding, etc.,etc. Good luck and let me know how it goes!
from tater-fay :
Sam Rockwell makes my loins HURT (in a GOOD way!) hehehe...I also cry in front of people TOO easily...half the time it is on a bus and I'm hiding my face. God damn Irish genes/fucked up brain chemistry....I like you!
from haloaskew :
I think I'm gonna have to start reading your diary on a regular basis...I ran across it today while I was clicking around and so far, me likes.
from trancejen :
Thanks for the link! Good stuff!
from tuff517 :
Holy crap! If you'll give me a better idea of what you like (I'm afraid of failure) I'll send you some home made CDs!! I love making CDs. Or tell me what you don't like.
from sambadelic :
I'd love love love love to make you a tape.
from tuff517 :
Chim-chim-chereee, indeed! Sam Rockwell DOES have that Gary Oldman thing going on. I've only liked him since "Charlie's Angels", though. I like doing comparisons when people write about themselves. I love dill pickles and really don't want children, too! I'm glad you're feeling better. I hope things work out with the house hunt.
from cruel-irony :
I hope you feel better soon! Good luck with the house hunting too. Argh. Take good care.
from cruel-irony :
Thanks for the whatFUCKINGever... it worked! And, thanks for truly knowing what it's like although I'd rather you didn't. Hope your weekend is great.
from ciaramyst :
:)
from cruel-irony :
HAHAHAHAHA! My VW bug is of the classic style, school-bus yellow and the doors open! I think we're too evenly matched to successfully play desktop poker!
from cruel-irony :
Okay, I call you and raise you a minature VW bug, 2 poppers, a wind chime and a turtle made out of shells. (I'm impressed we ever get any work done with all this fun shit on our desks!)
from cruel-irony :
In "weird shit on your desk" poker, does a box of rocks beat a half empty bottle of anti-freeze or do I have to raise you with a package of cactus seeds? Argh on the migraine! God, I hate those.
from cruel-irony :
Your iggys are adorable and your diary is coming along great. See, you CAN write!
from tuff517 :
Excellent! The first picture looks like Mother Theresa, but my favorite is the last one. You call it sexy, I call it cranky, just woke up. And what Sambadelic said about your writing, ditto!
from sambadelic :
Yikes! Looks like you got a big giant spam there! (Do you know you can delete it?) Anyway...Yeah, I feel expressively inept when I'm limited to words only too. That's why I decided to go "Gold" and upload some pictures with each entry to keep myself going. See, the person who led me to diaryland, greatgadfly, is an amazing writer. When I was comparing his frequent, beautifully lucid entries to my own constipated efforts, I was discouraged. The thing is, you don't sound so choppy and sophomoric from this end. Go. You write nice. And stuff. Okay.
from tuff517 :
I knew it! A fellow Illinoisian (?). I have also suffered from ice in the nose.
from sambadelic :
My favorite (and easily available: http://www.folkways.si.edu/40077.htm) bluegrass CD is this 2 cd set called "Mountain Music of Kentucky." It's all field recordings made in 1960 or so and it's awesome.
from tuff517 :
Okay, that picture of your dog? With the jacket on? That just turned my whole day around (which had been shitty). Danke!
from cruel-irony :
I recognize and celebrate each Equinox and Solstice. I have to say though that I'm particularly fond of Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice, but at least I know that with Winter Solstice, the light begins to return! Since the changing of the Seasons mimic the passages in our lives, I think it's important to take notice and celebrate them.
from cruel-irony :
As soon as I read that you love pickle juice, I've had a mad craving for Claussen's Chill Dill pickle juice. I'm making due with generic dill pickle juice until I get to the store. I must have some of that Claussen juice soon! And the pickles too, of course.
from cruel-irony :
I too LOVE the smell of books, paper and printing inks AND I LOVE to drink pickle juice! People have actually turned away when I've taken swigs of pickle juice, straight from the jar, of course. That's some good stuff!
from tuff517 :
Swearing is good, lists are good, Cruel-Irony is good, so that means you are good!
