from doorag :
things can always get worse
from tater-fay :
sorry things are going badly! I'll miss reading!
from spocksex :
oh yeah, xoxoxo
from spocksex :
yr not home and i miss you so i read some of yr diary. im a creep.
from spazzercize :
really? it was really called believercise and you are not shitting me? the thought of it is giving me a severe nosebleed.
from tater-fay :
YUCK! Moustache! Yuck! Also, I think I know where that dime in your bed came from. It's really weird but I was at this shitty bar last night (and later on I feel in our driveway and cut my knee...stupid drunk me and stupid go-go boots) but at this shitty bar this WEIRD guy gave me a dime for NO reason....what if something Twilight Zone-like happened and somehow that dime was transferred across space-time dimensions to your BED! WHOA!
from tater-fay :
Um, I challenge YOU to a fight with a plastic SPORK from Kentucky Fried Chicken. The reason for the fight? There is no reason. I just want to fight somebody while armed with a spork!
from spocksex :
71 DAYS!! (ok, ill stop now)
from spocksex :
oh yeah, 10 WEEKS. xoxoxo
from spocksex :
umm, i would pay the $112 if you are part of the package...
from participant :
Oh wow, what good listening material. I just now got my first listen of "Sister" last week. And started on Husker Du a few months ago. How is "Candy Apple Grey?"
from tater-fay :
I totally understand your reasoning for taking a break (whether forever or just for now..who knows, right?) from anti-depressants. I currently only take klonopin for anxiety (which is a sedative and not an anti-depressant)...Yea, I weaned myself off Effexor (couldn't afford it) and have been trying St. John's Wort. I also might combine it with 5-HTP (which is another natural suppplement..it's a pill form of tryptophan (the stuff in turkey that makes you feel sleepy!) and it is a serotonin booster...I know what you mean about docs. I try to always do my own research on what I'm taking..sometimes I end up knowing more about the drugs/herbs that I choose to take than the doc's prescribing it do...then they look a little stupid..hee hee!
from participant :
Oooh! I was just reading about Lou Barlow and how bad a time he had when he was in Dinosaur Jr and how lots of his Sebadoh songs were about how he and J Mascis's troubled relationship. No wonder Sebadoh can be so sad sometimes.
from tater-fay :
Hope you feel better! Why, exactly, are you getting off anti-depressants?
from spocksex :
bennn, i love you!
from tater-fay :
WHOA! YOu have a *whispers*..GIRLFRIEND-ish person? Where does she live? How very cool..you MUST update more..it's unfair to us all, bastard!
from spocksex :
write something bennnn xoxoxo
from tater-fay :
thanks..I will rest up at my mom's. She's a great person (I'm blessed to be her daughter, that's for sure!) I'm just trying to look on the bright side of things..this happened for a reason and something much better is comiing my way (it better..or I'll kick it's ass..ha ha!)
from tater-fay :
Back to Acid Mother's Temple....I saw a "split" 12 inch (or maybe it's an EP sort of dealie) with Acid Mother's Temple and Kinski (have you heard them? They are amazing...) so that would be a good thing for me to get cuz I already KNOW I love Kinski and if I decided Acid Mother's Temple wasn't exactly my cup of tea, it wouldn't be a total waste of money!
from spectralyne :
I don't know if you still have the same email address so I'm putting this here to ensure you get it: can't find your phone number and won't be here tomorrow so perhaps you could pick up your things on friday? Or give me your phone number again and I'll arrange another time, please don't reply through the notes system though as I can't access diaryland at the moment really.
from tater-fay :
Whoa...speaking of Acid Mother's Temple (which we were not long ago)...I just saw that they are playing Seattle on June 1st...too bad I live 5 hours away now...DAMN! And I'd go to the show even though I still haven't heard them..I'd just go cuz I KNOW it'd be my scene!
from parlance :
Anything new with you?
from tater-fay :
thanks for that link, and he RAWKS the sunglasses inside, so I feel more secure! I haven't heard Acid Mothers Temple yet..but it's on my "Music To Buy" List...I have to keep this list, I swear, or I go in a music store and think "I can't fucking remember ANYTHING I wanted to buy!" It's maddening!!
from parlance :
Hi..
from participant :
Thank you for your "pet sympathy note." You are kind.
from spocksex :
15 tom thumbs!! ewww talk to you sooooon. xoxo
from participant :
Oh you mistake the smudges on your glasses for darting rodents, while I mistake the smudges on mine for darting cockroaches.
from vocaccia :
chimps are amazing animals, but i truly think they're evil. maybe it's the resemblance to George Dubya.
from spocksex :
ben, this no updating is getting out of hand. xoxo
from tater-fay :
Guess who was in Mojo Magazine? Your ARCH NEMESIS!! I laughed and thought about you!! And you know, he isn't even CUTE!
from tater-fay :
Seventeen Seconds is my fave Cure album (though I like "Pornography" alot, too..hey! That could ge mis-construed. I don't mind porn, actually. It can be sexy about 20% of the time. Is it strange for a girl not to feel degraded, but instead, turned on by some porn? Mind you, I can ONLY watch porn that is girl-on-girl (WHY am I telling you this?) I'm very bored, and OH! I was gonna say something else, what was it? I also hug pillows..I hug this little pillow that is filled with lavendar and buckwheat..it smells good and comforts me! Ciao!
from vocaccia :
moa! (i've sometimes wondered about whether there was ever such a thing as a ride-on moa)
from spectralyne :
balled??? you mean bawled? god I sound like some uppity teacher or something instead of your friend. Sorry! Get looking at that source code! right click then "view source code" to see how other people have done stuff; I learnt heaps that way.
from spectralyne :
I don't know if your page is titled "My DiaryLand diary" on purpose but if not, if you'd like it to say something else all you need to do is go to the "change your template" and put whatever you want between the <title> tags at the top. Also I can host your image if you want, or you can go look for some free image servers, I've heard of one called snapfish.
from tater-fay :
we miss you! (Me and my cats)...I hope you'll be writing an update soon!
from spocksex :
hi. dont be sad. im thinking of you tons. xoxo
from vesselland :
well, traveling works even without much money. i traveled the states, nz and australia for one year and something worked out all the time. probably its now time for me to start uni and time for you to check out the world. have fun..
from vesselland :
right now i'm in dublin visiting friends but normally i live in germany, travel a lot and i am planing on going to uni in melbourne soon. it's just life and it's always confusing so i doubt that everything will turn out like it seems right now. what about you?
from spectralyne :
Do you actually read anything into that? You should read the DSM if you want to scare yourself - the scariness isn't "oh no I must have all these mental deviances" though it's look how fucked the psych/medical/drugs/etc systems are... I don't like it when people put those tests online without writing anything about them. I think it's an insult to people who've been adversely affected by those so-called diagnoses. At the least suggests a wilful ignorance at the expense of actually finding something meaningful out about yourself or about mental health or whatever. But I guess that's not the point. What is the point though? Is it supposed to be funny, like Woody Allen's neuroticness? Sorry to jump on you but this sort of offhanded internet diary cliche strikes me as somehow sanctioning that same damaging lazy categorizing/pathologizing which goes on in the mental health treatment professions.
from vesselland :
just came across and enjoyed your writing...
from dorknoodle :
Me and Ms. Patti Smith go way back to her first record - sitting in front of my grandparents' hi-fi at the age of seven and having my mind warped by the beauty. I've met her a few times, too, while she was local to Detroit. As for the kitties and hoons, oh yeah, I love 'em. Can't live without. Hope you are well.
from spocksex :
yeah well, i thought I heard someone falling asleep while talking to me!! :) xoxo
from tater-fay :
Congrats on #99/pre-#100, you sexy motherfucker (yes..I did just quote Prince..ha ha!) Now, go look in the mirror and say "I am a sexy motherfucker"...you can't do it, can you?
from spocksex :
typical girls was on the tape i made for you (along with 32 other ones, i even bought the extra long tapes for you). too bad you cant have it now cause yr a butthead. i dont know if i am kidding or not. bye.
from tater-fay :
what a strange (and almost surrealistically funny) dream you had!!
from vocaccia :
hi-and-nice-to-meet-you! (i will definitely read more entries when feeling more alert) hope you're feeling well post-wisdom teeth. thanks for your note. to answer your question, i just scraped a first (84.8%, and they rounded me up), hence shock. be well and take care, jane.
from spocksex :
hi there. hope the move went well, and you are settling in to yr new place! just wanted to say hi. xoxo-jillian
from spocksex :
i would watch them with you. the land of silence and darkness made me moody and introverted for nearly a week though. not to say i didnt like it though, exactly the opposite. also, i had a bit of a crush on klaus kinski, so i loved my best fiend. they used to play that on the independent film channel here constantly. you know what mr.? i would fancy you a lot more if it didnt take you so damn long to write me back all the time. :)
from spectralyne :
Fassbinder is quite sexy in Fox & friends, well I think so anyway. I like DIe Groses Ecstase Von arrgh I've forgotten the german - "the great ecstasy of woodcarver steiner", lots of slo-mo and popol vuh...H has made this big list of movies to see and at least 1 Herzog & 1 Fassbinder are on them I'm sure.
from tater-fay :
I like Werner Herzog. "Aguirre: Wrath of God", at least...
from tater-fay :
speaking of blood clots..Ya know what's really cool? When you are on your period (not YOU, but a girl) and you are in the bathtub and there are blood clots in the water...ha ha. I'll teach YOU to gross people out talking about blood clots!! I just made my OWN stomach turn...
from tater-fay :
Well, I can't wait until I become a rich rock star (oops...I'm not in a band, oh well!) so that I can buy shitty DVD's to waste my money on. I'd buy The Scorpions instead of Def Leppard, though..ha ha.
from tater-fay :
Was it C. from The Datsuns buying the Def Leppard DVD? What bad taste! What a dork! Then again..I don't know how many arch nemesis rock stars you know/have grudges against!
from spocksex :
you never talk to me anymore.
from badhairkut :
Panadeine...hmmm. Haven't heard of it. And what's stranger, I don't think I've ever done it.
from badhairkut :
wait, so did you get yr teeth out yet? if yes, demand some heroin or something. or just do that anyways for humor. (i don't think i mean do heroin, i think i mean DEMAND it.)
from spocksex :
since you are so nice, ill forgive you for belonging to the bjork diaryring. good luck with the teeth. xoxo.
from badhairkut :
getting my wisdom teeth pulled was literally the highlight of my year-- I was completely doped up for 4 solid days. heaven.
from doorag :
yeah at least 5 of those are on my top X amount ever too
from badhairkut :
I think I would absolutely love to be mauled by an abnormally large housecat. like one the size of a house. AWESOME. alright, I am technically just writing to direct you to my new diary here: blurty.com/~gfsu ...but I can't save myself from commenting on the 1st 2 songs on yr list. [1] Ok, how much acid do you think Hazlewood had for breakfast? [2] Cannot listen to it without BAWLING.
from bratty80 :
hey, thanks for the reassurance, -just to let you know, the "bitches" comment was a bit misrepresentative, just a pointless vent at someone who will never read this, partly because they are illiterate. Re: Franny and Zooey- I re-read it recently when i was going through a kind of religious phase(happens from time to time), so it seemed especially appropriate
from bratty80 :
umm I may have read your diary a few times(though not 147)the page kept expiring because of the worm. now I'm paranoid. Am new to all this and perhaps lacking in etiquette. your diary is kind of interesting though
from mantech :
Yeah it was pretty fun, we didn't see a lot of Petra but picked up some pretty good/cheap stuff at Bigtones.
from badhairkut :
ok, I only read my usual 146 times. so I don't know what's up with that.
from mantech :
"Happiness" IS very good, I agree w/you there (well I don't think I disagree w/you anywhere really and who cares anyway, I like that phrase though). Hey, do you know Petra? I'm visiting her/checking out Hamilton on Wednesday.
from spectralyne :
I just found your diary thru doorag's and was pretty spooked to find someone w/ so much excellent music taste in common w/ me and maybe more so "H" whose massive wants lists is linked from mine and who'll most likely be v interested in swapping w/ you, as I am (he has a cd writer). I've got more than I've listed so I'll prob update it soon - do you have a wants list? Or maybe can tell me stuff you might be interested in...the library here has lots too. I'd be really interested in Ut, been wanting to hear them for such a long time. Wow Hamilton, it just grows stranger and stranger to me - I've barely been there but I know lots of nice/strange/music-obsessed people frm there. It seems like this place where everywhere reads Robbe-Grillet books and..uh, I don't know, whatever other stuff I imagine "outsiders" to do in Htown. You might know some of my friends who used to live there. I read dland much less now that I use livejournal quite a bit (I'm metatherian on there).
from badhairkut :
["There's something about me that makes people think they can tell me anything. And I fucking hate it." -Margaret Cho] I could do multiple entries about those psychic vampire types and why it always feels like some Grand Contest of Shite with them. Instead I'll say- I feel you, man.
from doorag :
most of the notes i have ever left for people on d/land are about the merits of this or that neil young album, it would seem
from doorag :
hey so do you like "on the beach"? i heard a song off that on the National Prog. today! it's 1 of my fave fave fave neil y. albums for sure.
from tater-fay :
Thanks for the AMT review(s)...I will pick one of those up one of these days. Damn, I should be getting RID of stuff, not collecting it since I'm moving, but music is a whole different story. And besides..it doesn't take up much space..right? Your green mucus sounds attractive (not)..ha ha.
from tater-fay :
thanks for the story, man. It was funny and I know all too well that faux-hipster "I'm looking right THROUGH you" too cool to say "Hi" bullshit that goes on. Goes on in Seattle, too, trust me! By the way, I'd throw myself at you, but I'm afraid you wouldn't catch me and I'd end up on the sidewalk in broken glass or something..ha ha!
from tater-fay :
by the way...Maya Deren, Stan Brakhage, Jean Cocteau, Kenneth Anger, Luis Bunuel...You MUST have taken a class in experimental film or something (I did, which is where I was exposed to these brilliant filmmakers)..or did you just stumble upon them somehow??
from tater-fay :
Hmmm...I'd love to hear the story of why you think that guy in the Datsuns is an asshole...but maybe it's too personal and tragic..ha ha. Still..I love me a good "I hate you, fuck you" story!
from tater-fay :
You'll have to give me a review on the Acid Mothers Temple stuff you bought. I've wanted to hear them for awhile but haven't bought anything yet. I bought a cd by The Dirt Bombs (haven't listened to it yet) and a record by the Pretty Things (cuz it was cheap, I guess it's slightly scratched) even though I don't currently own a record player. What else did I buy? I can't remember...Oh yea...Thee Headcoats..something I owned once but lost a long time ago. I love buying music but I really should be barred from all music stores. I should be saving my $$ not spending it!
from doorag :
i never heard "landing on water" but yes i've heard that is not a very good one. "on the beach" tho, 1 of my favourites, i esp. like "revolution blues" off that album
from tater-fay :
You have excelent taste in music..and well, in EVERYTHING it seems (we have alot of musical tastes in common!) Rawk on....Ever read Lester Bangs?
from doorag :
i don't like shaving either but dude beards are a bad thing! in general.
from spocksex :
awesome mix-tape. if i didnt live so far away, id force you to send me a copy. but i guess if i was close enough to pjysically force you, then you wouldnt have to mail it, and where exactly is this going, anyway? oh bother. SNAKES.
from thrownout :
no actually I never heard of anyone called Dinosaur Jr. Maybe my older sister has. And you are very welcome. Husker Du isn't really a big band on my list, but they are okay.
from badhairkut :
PLUS- he is a writer's writer as well as a reader's writer. And I do both those things.
from badhairkut :
It is because I'm so thoroughly obsessed with gender stereotypes, maybe. They appeal and repel. Also reference my love-hate relationship with pop culture.
from badhairkut :
Seriously? That Van Damme quip made my weekend.
from spocksex :
seems like our moods are very similar lately. maybe we should form a support group. keep on keeping on.
from citizeness :
Hi, thanks for your note! The Patti show really was amazing. Don't despair...she's still touring like a madwoman, and I'm sure she'll return to New Zealand within a year or so. Keep checking http://www.kaapeli.fi/aiu/ps/ for tourdates. She's hitting Japan this summer, maybe she'll add some Oz/NZ dates since she'll be in the hemisphere and all. I think the high ticket prices were Bob Dylan's fault...on her own, the tickets were $20 US ($34 NZ). Not cheap, but definitely worth it!!
from spocksex :
if you dont feel happy soon, im gonna come there and hug you, and you dont want that, cause i give the hug of death. seriously.
from badhairkut :
all the same: thank you.
from neeena :
Heya. Thanks for doing my 'blood' survey. Hope the boredom wears off soon. :)
from spocksex :
hey dude, dont worry about blowing my cover, its ALL under control. can i come visit new zealand, cause missouri is a bust. and yr lucky it is fall there, cause summer sucks. i like wearing sweaters and pants, and loathe swimming pools and sunbathing. save me.
from bananafiche :
she IS a sexy little beast, isn't she?
from bananafiche :
that's just about the state of my bookshelf- I have a compulsive literature-purchasing habit. (better than that nasty old heroin one, eh?) (what a horrible joke.) re: bell jar... I stumbled onto it before I heard it hyped too much and when I was just the right age (and sex?), plus after I had read ariel- so I already liked her. plath doesn't actually come off as very likeable in her bio or in the "letters" but somehow I'm still fixated on her. girl poet thing. I've heard holden (and salinger) described as not very nice, either, but that doesn't stop me from being madly in love with the two and/or/primarily, seymour glass. sigh.
from bananafiche :
I love (relate to?) esther's character for the same reason I usually love other female characters (ex: catherine in jules et jim &, recently, catherine keener in lovely & amazing, enid in the ghost world comic): they are amoral, witty, intelligent, and in horrible pain. also, I was about to boldly assert that "I LOVE dick!" -but this is cos I have almost had too much wine to pick up on double entendre (planned or otherwise)- anyway, dick the writer, he is genius. have you read "I hope I shall arrive soon"? it's easily in my top 5 short stories. I could probably go on about a few other shared cultural interests I've culled from this entry, but I have learned to somewhat control my drunken ranting so maybe later.
from spocksex :
you said "quarter life crisis"! i totally say that all the time, to explain my neurotic behavior. it was so funny to see someone else use the term. xoxo
from bananafiche :
jinkies. I actually get a note and it takes me millenia to realize it. here is what I think: if you can honestly come by the fur, why not wear it? davy crockett hats have that certain je-na-sais-crazy, I say go for it! (them!) also, I check my mail at least ten times a day. obsessive compulsive stimulus response.
from spocksex :
hey hon..crying is no good. lots of hugs.
from sylviashadow :
Thanx for taking my badhabits survey! Come back soon!--sylviashadow
from doorag :
hey don't cry!!
from spocksex :
you've found me out. im my secret attempt to gather a group of boys to live with me on my farm and be my love slaves. vegetables are good.
from spocksex :
dude, come live with me on a farm. we will raise goats, and grow vegetables. (thats been my dream as of late. i too, am very naive, and find myself constantly let down by humankind when i realize what they are trying to put over on me.) xoxo
from doorag :
no i never heard "black beauty", i like all his 70s stuff pretty much tho. favourites = "get up with it" & "pangaea".
from doorag :
hey did you know my band played a bunch of shows with bardo pond in 1996, i got to see em a pile of times, they were pretty good.
from doorag :
i have also been listening to more miles davis (electronic period) than pretty much anything else recently. also i have been listening to quite a bit of sun ra & quite a bit of bowie, some cecil taylor too.
from spocksex :
i have been listeing to bardo pond alot recently too! i just saw them play a few weeks ago, it was a really good show. good luck with yr writing 2000 words a week, it sounds like hell.
from doorag :
yeah i'm useless aren't i.
from spocksex :
you have a most interesting taste in music.
from spocksex :
thanks for yr nice message. i am drunk and eating cream cheese and bagels. what better way to spend my newly founded freedom from the horrid rat race. now i just wanna lay on my couch and watch cartoons. and my head hurts. bah! xoxo
from fullomoxie :
its ok to be a nana, we all need one. have a good night!
from fullomoxie :
hey there....thanks for saying i am a fav...i feel sort of lame, so it was a nice surprise. have a good nighty-night.
from doorag :
hi who is this? wanna hang out & do stuff? i have a car!
