I love those pictures--the shepherd faces are precious. I'm not sure why but it cheered me to see reference to Mr. Dorn in your diary tonight. Small world, huh?

Ah, you attended St. John's, in Annapolis? I know there's also a St. John's University in England, so perhaps I'm wrong. But if I'm right, it's nice to find a Johnnie on Diaryland. :) If all goes according to plan, I should be able to say FELLOW Johnnie by next year.
from zeroreverb7 :
hugs hugs hugs :) Peace
from sassers :
Seems like Scorpios are all around me. My last two loves have been two headed Scorpio monsters. Something about it is so powerful.
from zeroreverb7 :
Just wanted to wish you a Good Holiday and Wonderful New Year!!! Take good care of you! Hugs Peace:)
from elgan :
Mmmmm...latkes... I, on the other hand, am singing more Christmas carols tonight and finishing it off with mulled wine. Maybe I'll make latkes tomorrow. Yum.

Hi! You have no idea who I am but thats okay. I Just wanted to commend you on refereeing soccer, as a soccer player myself I don't have the patience to ref. I would hate to have to deal with my bad attitude. I have thought about taking up coaching younger teams, then it seems like a little too much effort, hey maybe I will anyway. take care...go Flames! go Old Flames!
from floodtide :
How did I know about trapdoor spiders? The same way I know so many of my other useless bits of trivia: my early-boyhood hours, days, weeks spent reading the World Book Encyclopaedia. Love, me. PS: Have a great weekend.
from zeroreverb7 :
you are always interesting :) take care hugs peace
from zeroreverb7 :
I hope Charley doesn't find you at all..be safe...be well Hugs Peace
from seastreet :
You know, oed, I often find myself in the same position. The other day I decided to get over it and started writing a play. It was the second easiest thing I'd ever done. The easiest was forgetting to continue to write the play. "If you want to destroy a [person's] life, tell them they have potential."
from zeroreverb7 :
I think of you often...and just wanted you to know that...hugs love peace I hope all is well with you..
from raven72d :
Noticed you via Moonshadow34-- excellent writing.

Hallo, stranger!

All I could think was, "you go, girl!" Love, me
from sunnflower :
Hi from Suburban Island and thanks so much for adding my diary to your Diaryland favorites list. Sorry about the lose of your dad.
from elgan :
Have you consulted with a pharmacist concerning the drugs? Is there maybe a "buy-back" policy you can take advantage of? I for one don't deal well with change. It seems as I get older I deal less and less well with it. Ah, the flexibility of youth!
from concerted :
I humbly suggest beginning with some amazing literature--Nikki Giovanni, Gwendolyn Brooks, Audrey Lorde, Zora Neal Hurston. I'm a huge fan of African American literature from the 1920's to the 1970's and the above listed are some of my very favorite writers.
from harri3tspy :
I surfed in here via elgan's site and really like the way you write. "I've heard the Mermaids Singing" is one of my favorite films as well -- I'm not sure how I overlooked it on my own favorites list.
from elgan :
Thanks for adding me to your favourites.
from elgan :
Hello there. I found you while reading Odalisks notes page and started reading your diary. Im very sorry about your dad passing away. I lost my own father five years ago (he was 87) to a heart attack following hip-replacement surgery and have always felt guilty that I dont live near enough my mother to be a dutiful daughter and spend more time with her. Im here if you want to talk.
from life-my-way :
I'm so glad you're back! You're in my heart during this difficult time, and your dogwood tree was a great thing to do. Enjoy nurturing it.
from zeroreverb7 :
just wanted to let you know that i'm thinking about you...i hope all is well..many hugs to hug Peace
from poolagirl :
Sorry to hear about the loss of your father. Take care. I am thinking of you.
from ladybugge :
I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your father. Losing my uncle is still so raw for me, and I spent some time trying to think of something appropriate to say (of course 'I'm so sorry' didn't occur to me at that time), and what I came up with is be good to yourself today. Be very good to yourself. L
from pandionna :
I'm so sorry to hear of your father's passing. Losing a parent is a very difficult thing. remember that he's still in your heart, and that your famiy and friends are there for you to lean on. Many hugs to you.
from sassers :
I am so sorry to hear about your father's passing. Sending you good vibes...
from zeroreverb7 :
oh dear one I'm so so sorry for your loss. please email me if there is anything that you need ([email protected])all my heart..hugs peace
from ladybugge :
Yes, goyim is the correct plural. I dunno, sometimes I feel silly going around correcting people who don't even know what they are saying. But it's become something of a crusade. I'll get over it someday. (When I'm dead.) :-) Have a great day. Lb
from ladybugge :
I was reading your diary and thinking I was reading Floodtide's. I wonder what's up with that? But anyway, what I'm writing about is a little thing, and perhaps silly, but I find myself driven to commenting on it whenever I run into it. The word 'putz' means, literally, a diseased penis. The word 'futz' means to do a little of this and that. Enough people misuse 'putz' to mean 'futz' that I doubt it's even worth the bother, but I can't help but want to tell people in the hopes that 'putz' can remain the unforgiveable insult it always was. :-)
from raven72d :
I've always been afraid of Santa Fe, jumper cables, and the OED itself. But I do use the words "albeit" and "apposite" in daily life. And I once set fire to an effigy of Alfred North Whitehead.
from moonshadow34 :
Hehehe....my dad also gave me a set of jumper cables, but I don't even know where the battery is in my car, so I'm not sure what use it is. He says he wishes St. John's had a Philosophy of Automobiles tutorial as it would be more beneficial to me than ancient greek and Aquinas. I, however, say skip the oil and bring on the books ;)
from hissandtell :
Hello - I found you through poolagirl. You write so well that I shall be coming back to read more.
from zeroreverb7 :
Oed love...thanks for the note :) and yes physical therapy is next. I'm looking forward to getting more motion back. And I live about an hour south of Richmond (i love that city) in york county...i hope all is well with you..thanks for always being so wonderful :) hugs peace
from odalisk :
It's good to hear someone say that! Older women are too, too rarely appreciated. I tend to think (and I wish I didn't) that girls are more beautiful during the first thirty years, and men are more beautiful during the second, and that after sixty it's all the same. But I *do* think that attitudes like that can be changed; I wouldn't be an art historian if I didn't believe that there was an element of training involved in taste...
from ladybugge :
I think I'd want to send a gift that in no way refers to her coming of age, but let's her know it IS something to celebrate - a cd, stuffy, gift certificate. Something like what is sent for a birthday or holiday. In addition to the other stuff, of course.
from life-my-way :
I'd vote for a pair of the bright pink Chuck Taylor high tops as a perfect Woman Present for the twelve year old who has everything, including her period. It's not MIdol P.M.S. but it is cheery.
from beagle47 :
oed, you are owed. thanks for marking me. peace. (and i really mean that).
from floodtide :
I took the "Inferno" test a ways back; I seem to remember that I was, not surprisingly, condemned to the sodomites' circle. I'll find that entry when I've a moment and send you the link; my results led to some very interesting musings - notably, that Dante consigns the sodomites and the suicides to the same circle as the warmongers. The generally-sensitive and the generally hate-fostering roasting alongside one another: me and Wolfowitz together for eternity. What a concept. Love, ft
from zeroreverb7 :
:) thanks so much for the note...you're responsible for the smile on my face...:) be well Peace
from life-my-way :
A concert right in your house--that is so cool. I'll be checking out the site, but the only concert this house is likely to see is the one we get when the dachshunds start to howl.
from poolagirl :
Hey! Thanks for making me a fave! I look forward to reading your stuff!
from zeroreverb7 :
I'm with you and flood...I want all the love the universe can give me...you are awesome by the way...peace
from life-my-way :
What a gorgeous girl is that Bunny. She looks sort of like our rescue dog, Sissy. Sissy's a big, tough, protective, barking girl until someone stomps a foot or opens a car door, then she's all Sissy. I realize that I, too, amd a breedist but GSD's are the best dogs. Ever. Congrats.
from floodtide :
I love love LOVE that you may get to have this dog as a companion, and love that you got to talk to Zim ("This! THIS is America!"). I will call today from the office; I'm loving you. ft
from zeroreverb7 :
nice to meet you oed...:)..thanks for adding me :)

Elbert Dorn??? I went to law school in South Carolina with Elbert Dorn, he graduated a year [or maybe two] ahead of me. First year I asked if I could borrow some of his clothes for Halloween [I was dressing up as one of our schoolmates] and Elbert proceeded to lend me roughly $2K worth of threads [and this was in 1984]. Now _I_ wonder what he's doing. Six degrees of separation indeed.

My friend Jones is a Ferron love slave. Heard a lot of her music this weekend and liked what I heard. So I come back from a Ferron filled weekend and see a new buddy lister who likes Ferron too. The kismet! The karmic coincidence! Okay, settle for a "Hey, small world."? Thanks for putting me on your list and welcome to D-land! ~LA
from imperfectlyy :
Hey there, just stopping by from the Lesbian ring. =)
from pandionna :
Welcome to d-land! I'm one of Flood's admirers and clicked through from his place. Please don't mind me while I snoop around...
from floodtide :
Yahoo! I'm the first! Congratulations, and welcome, beautiful friend. I added you to my buddy list so I can see when you've updated. Mind if I start sending readers your way? Much love, flood.
