Thanks :) it's nice to know that no matter what you're going through, you're not alone ha. Someone out there is feeling pretty much the same. Yeah it'll be alright eventually.. just hard to swallow right now. But yeah I guess time will help. I have to do the same thing, just remind myself that it is what it is, it's nothing more. Cannot contact him, just stay away.. the more I talk to him lately the worse I feel so I need to distance myself. Thanks for the note and I hope your situation gets better too.
from dressagediva :
Oh no! What happened?? I don't know if you updated earlier (your link to go to past entries doesn't work). I'm so so sorry *hugs*
from dressagediva :
I'm glad everything went well for you :)
from dressagediva :
Boys are so damn stupid. I'd give him a call and talk to him... if it doesn't go well, then the relationship is just going to be a waste of time, but you know, that's how you meet people. Trial and error. As for the cutting, I was a cutter before. I still have some nasty scars from it.
from dressagediva :
I'm so happy for you! You're such a cutie. Any pictures of your new boy?
from dressagediva :
Did you change your password again?
from dressagediva :
I didn't have a "real" boyfriend until I was a Senior in high school. My best friend didn't go on a date until a week before his 20th birthday, and he'd never kissed, either. I started hanging out with large groups of friends until my second semester in college. Hun, take it easy. Things will look up. Try to take it day by day, and whatever comes of it, enjoy it. You're a cute, nice, awesome girl. Don't worry :)
from dressagediva :
You can still have a straight line with a closed hip angle. It hurts like hell, but that's how I placed in hunters. Oh.. the joys of horse-politics at shows, eh?
from dressagediva :
I meant that your hip angles are too open. For hunters/jumpers, it needs to be a much more closed angle. Very different from dressage. With the closed angle on the hips, you won't have such a saddle-seat look no matter what size the saddle is.
from dressagediva :
Girl, you're in a hunter-style show. Why are you so straight!?!? Good luck with the new horse. Though it's hard to move on to a new horse at first, it may be for the best. You'll be able to ride a different horse, maybe one that's more of a challenge, and you'll advance your skills even more. Good luck, and I hope Arty feels better. The poor guy. He should ve happy and retired after this show season.. that's what we did with my Quater Horse. He's such a good horsey, too.
from dressagediva :
My vet has Argentinian polo saddles and he loves them. They're God knows how old and pretty perfect. Who knows? I'm more for Aussie leather, anyway, haha.
from dressagediva :
Argentinian leather is actually pretty awesome, especially for polo saddles.
from dressagediva :
Since Sam's mature for her age, her parents may think they need to reward that. Maybe she helps around the house, gets good grades, etc., so her parents help her out. Some parents are like that, others aren't. I know a girl who has the money to buy a $6K constume made saddle for a $15.5K three year-old. It just depends on the parents and what THEIR "reward" expectations are.
from dressagediva :
I suggest you send her an e-mail with the things you have been doing to help. It's not fair and it seems like she's taking advantage of you.
from dressagediva :
I use my close contact saddle for flat and jumping. The judges seem to like it more.
from dressagediva :
Unfortunately, appearing on the bit in dressage is a huge no-no. You'll surely get scores in the 50's with that. Being on the bit just takes strength on the horse. It's hard, and collection is ten times harder!
from dressagediva :
Ah! Sorry about the show. It sucks when things like that happen. I'm envioud that Ali pays $20 for lessons... I have to pay $60, but my trainer's a Grnad Prix rider/trainer. I don't know what level Kathy is. Are you still going to the show over the weekend?
from dressagediva :
Shows are all politics, just remember that.
from dressagediva :
Good looking guys are just asses. They thin they can get any girl, that's why. I find that guys who are OKAY looking but with a good personality treat you soooo much better.
from dressagediva :
I had one boyfriend in high school (but I dated) and I went to maybe two parties. I was too busy studying and riding that I just didn't care. Besides.. I HATED high school!
from dressagediva :
I'm so proud of you! You guys look great. I had a hard time recognizing Arty, but damn girl, you made a HUGE improvement from last year. Just remember to keep your thumbs up and your elbows by your sides when you do Dressage. But really, you have advanced SO, SO much. Arty and you look like a whole new team!
from dressagediva :
In my experience, the girls who get favored like that always suck. It's always the hard working students that get the shitty rake.
from dressagediva :
They looks good to me. They should be snug. I know that German riders use theirs STIFF as all hell because it looks elegant. They're good looking =)
from dressagediva :
Tampons can be so evil! It just takes, patience, I guess. Better at clinics and shows, I have to say that much!
from dressagediva :
No offense, but trainers are just like that. "YEAH! Work with this horse and you can work with it ALLLLL you want." Most of them just let people work with the horses because they want to get SOME work on that horse and then sell it. In short: she's using you like woah. I HATE trainers like that. I was with one like that, and I fired her in a heart beat, reason why I wound up with my current trainer. Just punch her in the ovaries.. or you could talk to her about it. Good luck though.
from dressagediva :
Like I said.. you have to work out 5 days a week for 30-60 mins. Either running or riding horses. Walking around school doesn't count (sucks!). If you lower your intake, you'll gain weight since you slow down your metabolism, but I still do it.... I'm dumb like that. Working out = best thing for weight loss.
from dressagediva :
Yeah, as long as you do it for 30 mins. or more.
from dressagediva :
I learned in my fitness class that you have to do at least 30 minutes of physical activity FIVE days a week to lose wieght. It blows.
from dressagediva :
Good luck and have a great ride!!!
from dressagediva :
I'm glad you feel better =) Have fun bridle shopping!! I love going to tack stores! <3
from dressagediva :
Bah. My aunt used to talk about the Christopher Reeve thing. I got so pissed off that I said, "Okay.. shut up. I've had a 1,200 lb horse fall ON TOP OF ME, a 1,600lb horse do THE SAME on ASPHALT and I only broke a LEG. Stop being dumb." As for the weight gain. You're riding more, you're lunging a mare that goes insane and makes you work for. Hun, it's MUSCLE! I know you ran when you lost weight, but thorse are different, leaner muscles. Riding makes your muscles bulkier. Running a lot is more aerobic, and your muscles won't get so big. With riding, you're doing aerobic, but you're also doing "weight training," to make sense of it. Check your inches. As long as you're not gaining inches, it means you're just getting muscle. Chin up!
from dressagediva :
Lucky you're a regular calf. I always get called "chicken legs." haha. I've always had really muscular legs, but they're small. Go figure =\ As for the boot problem. Have you tried taking them in to get reduced? They do it for stretching and a tailoring place, and they may even put zippers on them for you. I know they do that stuff, and it comes in handy when you don't want to buy another pair of pricey boots.
from dressagediva :
When I first got Mac, I fell off at least once every week. I was learning, he was psycho and unbroke, so it happens. I've honestly lost count. The past two years the horse has fallen WITH me (count is 8 times, including Victor), I haven't fallen off on my own since *knocks on wood* The point is that even the best riders fall, though I'm not saying I'm the best. Example? David O'Connor fell off a 2'6" jump at a clinic he was giving. Clay Meyer fell off his Friesian in an exhibition at the Draft Horse Classic I went to. It happens. At first it's embarassing and everything, but once you lose count like I did, you laugh each time and get right back on. It's a matter of getting used to it, as funny as it sounds, but once you start breaking out completely green horses, it happens a lot more!
from dressagediva :
I can relate to the water weight. I hate it and it should die! Especially a week before your period. That's killer.
from dressagediva :
Aw such a happy entry! I'm so happy for you! *hugs*
from dressagediva :
I'm glad you're enjoying yourself!! It's great to read the happy entry.
from dressagediva :
It's the water hun. Don't worry. If you drink a LOT of water then it's all water weight. You're true weight is in the morning, as I said. Also, if you eat or drink a lot of sodium, then you'll retain even MORE water.
from dressagediva :
Is that propel water good?
from dressagediva :
Secret. There's not secret. I've never admitted it to anyone before, but I have EDNOS with bulimis tendencies. I have several symptoms, such as working out too much after eating, abusing laxatives and diet pills, not eating (which is more of an anorexic tendency), etc. I've always had ED's like this, but I've never told anyone. I'm not too proud of it.
from dressagediva :
Don't worry Kathryn!! You're true weight is when you wake up after you go to the bathroom!! So don't worry if you're higher in the evening. Of course you're going to be.. you've eaten, worked out (which swells muscles, and muscle weight is more than fat), and you retain more water.
from dressagediva :
Digital scales tend you give you the wrong readin, mostly because they can get stuck at a number and it won't go over or under that. Thet plain suck. I had one and I threw it away and bought a regular one.
from dressagediva :
Hmm yeah. With your height and level of activity, I would do 1,100-1,200 with more protein products than carbs or breads. Lower than that and your metabolism is going to die no matter what you do, and you'll put on the weight you lost plus more.
from dressagediva :
You could go on the slim fast diet. You drink a slim fast for breakfest, a snack, and a meal of 500-600 calies. Or on the three our diet. You pretty much each every 3 hours. Have a GOOD breakfast, and snacks (like cheese, yogurt, that kind of stuff) for the snacks, and then a nice dinner. Don't screw your metabolism up by eating too little. I know I do it, but I've always had an EDNOS problem, so don't do as I say, not as I do. How tall are you?
from dressagediva :
Proteins. Meat, chicken NO bread or skin, fish, cheese, yougurt, cottage cheese, lots of dairy products, soy patties, soy anything! Protein power bars.
from dressagediva :
You're stuck because your body is holding on to what ever you eat. Bad thing. That's when you eat a bit more, but more protein is recommended. However, eat some carbs! Keep working out, don't go over 2,500 cals a day, and you'll be fine =)
from dressagediva :
Milk and orange juice have 100+ cals for 8 fl oz. Where are you getting your calorie count from? A lot of the labels are tricky, so remember! Plus the batter can also be tricky, because you have to add in the milk, eggs, etc. Depends on what they want you to add. I hate labels. I'm proud that you're at your goal weight. I wish I was at mine right now. Gr! 1,200 cals is actually a LOT of food if you eat low-cal stuff. I made a diet for myself and one of the days is 380 cals =| Then again, I buy all of my groceries and I take forever because I look at labels so much! lol. People are always giving me funny looks. Good luck with more weight loss, and remember to treat yourself at least ONCE a week. Your body won't lose anything if it's just gathering all of what you eat.
from dressagediva :
It seems like your metabolism is going down the drain... Since you reached your goal, and it seems like your stuck in the mid and high 20's, that means that you have to eat a diet of 1,200 cals that's MORE protein, less carbs. However, if you eat a carb and a protein, they cancel out and the carb doesn't turn into fat. Now, if you eat protein and work out, you'll gain muscle, therefore gain weight, but it's GOOD weight. I used to do 120 pounds of weights and I weighed 150 lbs (Loooong time ago), but I was a size 5. Also, if you eat less than 1,200 cals, your metabolism will start slowing down, and when you DO eat, you'll gain weight even though you don't eat much. Our bodies suck, really. That's why I have a day where I let go and eat whatever I want. Remember, it takes 3500 cals to gain ONE pound, so if you eat 1200-1500, then you'll be fine.. plus you ride and work out. If you reach your goal and are in a stump, then that means that you're not eating enough. It's all a metabolism thing and muscle weight v. fat weight. Specializing in food Biology and fitness is always a perk, even though I don't always follow the rules, but I have my tricks to keep my metabolism going faster.
from dressagediva :
AH!! Where do you get such low-cal burgers? All the ones I see are 450 and up. I'm a vegetarian but the patties I eat are around the same as meat patties. The lowest cal burger (Or veggie burger) I've had is 364 =| That's because my mom and I went out to lunch, and I don't want her to know I restrict, lol.
from dressagediva :
You burn a lot more calories when you run in the cold than if you break a huge sweat in the heat. Weird, but since your body's cold, it works a lot more to do what you want it to do and to warm up, therefore killing a bunch of calories.
from dressagediva :
Oh yeah, btw, it said that my calorie intake should be 2,500 a day! Hah. There's no way I'm doing that much. I'm an active person but that's so much eating! I'm happy around 800.
from dressagediva :
Calorieking.com is awesome, but only for foods. The weight thing, eh, I wouldn't dwell on it, because they don't take into account your bone structure and things like that. The only person who can actually tell you is a doctor.
from dressagediva :
Aw. Feel better hun! I didn't know you had a MySpace! You should add me!! http://www.myspace.com/DressageDiva
from dressagediva :
Guys will always be dumb. Even though I love mine to death, he can be such a dill-nut! Guys will be guys. We hate them but we love them.
from dressagediva :
Nah, I didn't give up on it. I've just been busy. I'm working full time as a rider. I just got hired to ride a 17.2hh Lipizzan/TB and a 16.3h Hannoverian/Oldenburg. Nice mixes, huh? Plus breaking out a horse, and riding others for my boss. Also sales. And now that I started school, I'm going insane!
from dressagediva :
Yeah.. don't develop any eating disorders (I've read you previous entries).. Take it from a girl with experiance with one -_- Anyways, I'm glad your reaching your goal! It's awesome to lose, huh? It's good to hear from you. I missed you!
from dressagediva :
Hey! How have you been? Did you change your password? I haven't been on in a while and it's not working =(
from dressagediva :
The army eh? I've missed some things since last time I logged on!
from dressagediva :
Ah.. Don't you hate it when things like that happen? He'll get better, don't worry.
from dressagediva :
Blugh.. I hated having to share my fav. horse before I got Mac or Victor. He was a huge pain gelding. Ugly as hell, but so sweet, and I was one of the few girls who could ride him.. All the others he HATED! Lol. He's take off, wouldn't listen, and I'd hate to watch them ride him because they'd just ruin him >.<
from dressagediva :
Isn't he awesome? The coolest thing is that I now half-own Victor! His owners said this to me a couple of weeks ago. I was so happy!
from dressagediva :
How's that sitting trot coming along?
from dressagediva :
For the sitting trot to be comfortable you have to have the horse engaged. Even though it seems like being engaged would be a lot bouncier, it's not. Keeping his head in a frame is a huge help as well. As for your seat, relax your legs... No matter what your legs MUST be relaxed. In fact, my trainer makes me take my entired legs off the horse, so my balance is the only thing that's keeping me on. Don't try to follow him with your hips; let HIM do the work for that. Inhale and exhale a lot, as if you wer running, that should relax your whole body. But remember to keep those legs down long and relaxed. The upper body should be relaxed as well. Don't use the shoulders and hands for strength when controling the reings, use your upper arm. The most important things is to keep yourself relaxed and let him move you. He should be doing the work, not you. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask =) Hope this helps a little bit ^-^
from dressagediva :
Hehe, Victor doesn't have nearly enough muscle. He's a chunky boy right now and very unconditionoed. No one rode him after we had that accident, so it's 3 months, unlike Mac who was ridden by my trainer. To make it better for them you have to know how to ride a sitting trot. I could give you tips on how I started to learn it if you wish. I also started on my bouncy arab with nose in the air, hehe, so I know it's hard.
from dressagediva :
Why doesn't she tell you in person? And as long as you know how to sit the trot, his muscles will be able to support you. For God's sake! A horse can hold half its weight. You're not doing anything wrong... I would suggest to sit the trot MORE because that's how you get a collected trot. And what does the collected trot do? DEVELOP BACK MUSCLES. Go figure. And to develop a collected trot you need to get a frame, which is easier by sitting. Bah to her! This made me emotional, too =|
from dressagediva :
I've always hated draw reins. Mac used to love to have his head up and back hollow, but you can't get a horse past Second or Third level in Dressage because draw reins make a horse so heavy on the forehand. They seem all nice and very pretty when you're on, but later on they get so heavy it's annoying. When I jumped, my ex-trainer got on him and used draw reins becaue he didn'tl ike her and wouldn't go on a frame like he did with me, so she used the reins, and from that moment on, I never let her or her riders get on Mac. Lynn's the same way. She hates draw reins. Upper Level trainers won't use them, but some lower level riders think that they will help get their horse to an upper level since it's more of an "easy way out" of the head problems. Who knows? I just hate those things.
from dressagediva :
I've thought of evil things about my very first trainer... And I take it back, because all she did, though it wasn't in the nicest way, was for the best.
from dressagediva :
I got the job! Hehe. I'm so excited about it. I get a 15% discount to start with, so that's better than nothing! And Ali getting grounded for that is... uhmm.. WOW =\
from dressagediva :
Can I get a DRESSAGE DIVA here? Lol. Congrats on your new saddle. Dressage = Love =)
from dressagediva :
4 acres, eh? A house with a little barn, hilly as hell, and a crappy round pen, 5 acres I think, is going for $1.2 million over here. Frakken rip off we are! >.<
from dressagediva :
$499,000? How many acres? That's actually pretty cheap, but then again, I live in Cali and well.. We all know how expensive this state is!
from dressagediva :
The Grudge was a HORRIBLE movie. I got out of the movies in a very pissy mood, and I told Jeff that I wanted that hour of my life back. Meet The Fockers was awesome though!
from dressagediva :
What a silly girl she is!! A breeder won't pay HER, she has to pay the breeder. Kids these days, I tell ya!
from dressagediva :
Oh hun, don't quit on horses! My mom was the one who told my dad to get one because the lesson horses were about to kill me. I gave a free rodeo on them every week. It wasn't until then that my mother realized that I needed one of my own; and of course the parents got into arguments but Mom won. You're a good rider, and I'm sure you'll find a nice Dressage saddle. I could even help you search for one. There's a few good-priced one in this area, go through ebay or something. Hell, I could even sell you my first Dressage saddle. Just don't give up on these guys; they're great. I'm sure something will work out. Keep me updated on stuff and I'll try to help you as much as I can! *hugs you*
from dressagediva :
Aw I'm sorry! But you're going to the new place, right? I hope so.. I'm not very sure. Man.. I'm so sorry that you have to move from a place you love. I hated the place I was at so I was happy, but Kathy seems so nice!! *hugs you a bunch*
from dressagediva :
I was watching Enough last night too. So good! And you know, I hated Napoleon Dynamite but I love Kung Fu.. Weird.
from dressagediva :
The Village was such a good movie!! I loved the outcome of it, simply because I wasn't expecting it, hehe. I'm glad that he lock thing works, not I just have to turn on the notes thing *sigh* Thanks for the lovely comment. It makes me feel very special. *hugs*
from dressagediva :
Hey, I re-did the lock thing, and the name is dante password hunt Hopefully it works =)
from dressagediva :
Working with horses is so awesome, and 4-H is fun. I love it! Too bad this is my last year =( but I'll be going back as a leader! You should throw Sam in a wheel bucket and dump her in some snow heehee.
from dressagediva :
Ugh.. It's friends like that that you don't need. It's completely uncalled for!! I'm so sorry that they do that to you. If we went to the same school, I know I'd keep you around. You sounds so awesome! And you love horses =P
from dressagediva :
That place was soooo awesome. I've gone like 3 times in Los Angeles though. The guys are hot, even some of the older ones are pretty attractive, but ya know. Haha. I also wanted to give you the password for my journal: dantehunt Just put your username I think and the password and it works... I think. I'm new to this kind of protected entries, in LiveJournal we can just put "friends Only" on each individual entry and it's done. Anyways, I'm glad you had fun. That place kicks so much ass!!
from dressagediva :
Medieval Times!?!? I LOVE THAT PLACE! Sooo awesome. Last time I went, my Knight was sooo handsome. My friends and I would yell at him like little love sick school girls. We're such dorks! =P All I can say is: We gotta have fun at times, haha.
from dressagediva :
Contracts... I've only done accords with my parents. Did you have to sign something?
from dressagediva :
P.S. You know, every time I read your entries I just think it'd be so much fun to actually know you. You have my same obsessions and everything. I'm sorry that your friends are being so evil.. I've had friends like that, too. The ones I have now are the ones who really matter to me because they don't do that stuff. Your parents favoring your brother is complete crap. They shouldn't be doing that. I hope you feel better.. I know they're just words but I wish for the best. It's hard over the internet =P My parents have yelled at me for no reason but I find it that blocking what they say is good while day-dreaming about horses =) Feel better! *hugs*
from dressagediva :
Boy do I know what it's like to have people say that dressage is nothing. I'm at a Hunter/Jumper show barn and all they do is pick at the Dressage riders. Out of 4 riders, I'm the only one who really shows. Dressage takes a lot of time and a lot of muscle. That's one thing I'm going to have to do when I get back on, work on my legs again since they're not working. Dressage is also harder because people tend to actually haunch more on the saddle because the seat is deeper. Some get thrown back or tend to lean back and drive with the seat, which is a huge no no! Arty seems to be just like Mac, which is why I love reading all of your entries!!! I don't know if Arty goes into a bucking bronco, but I know what you mean when they get strong in the canter. Just relax, take your legs of, and let HIM move your hips. Half halts = love. I learned all of this the hard way. Victor is also a strong guy, especially in the Piruettes. It all just takes time, time, time and a lot of practice. You guys seems like such a good team and I can't wait to see you in your new Dressage saddle ;)
from dressagediva :
Ah those spandex shirt. I'm guilty of wearing those, I must admit, though I don't use it to show off to the stable guys at our barn =P They're pretty nice. Keep you cool when it's hot but warm when it's cold. Weird how that works. And they're awesome underneath the Dressage Coats at shows. The regular ones were too hot. I'm not sure how hot it gets in your area, but when it's 105 degrees and having to wear a Hunter or Dress Coat, it's too hot! I'm glad you and Arty are getting such good rides. You guys will be absolutely awesome in the Dressage ring! ;)
from dressagediva :
Some Dressage saddles have shorter billets than others. My first dressage saddle has shorter billets than my new one. I doubt that the saddle will have the billets as short as the AP, but you never know with these saddles nowadays. If the billets were that short though, I don't think I'd get it. I like my billets long. Soooo much easier to tighten the girth. After riding hunter/jumpers for a while, I appreciate them lots, lol. Good luck with the saddle hunting! I'm sure you'll find the perfect one for you and Arty =)
from dressagediva :
As far as I know, all Dressage saddles have longer billets than All Purpose. I've had and ridden on plenty of different saddles and I've never seen a Dressage saddle with billets as short as the All Purpose, reason why they have Dressage Girths. Dressage's awesome!!! Hehe
from dressagediva :
It all depends on your height, body type, and leg length. I'm 135lbs and I use a 17" saddle, and I'm 5'5" but I have longer legs, so I need the 17". The seat size determines the flap length. Dressage saddles also go for a lot, unless you find a good deal which is pretty rare unless the person really wants to get rid of it (like I did). I don't know how tall you are or anything like that, but I would recomend a 17". It's pretty universal and you're younger, so you're going to go into it. I wouldn't recommend a 16" because once you're 17 or so, you'll need a bigger one, and that's from seeing a lot of kids grow out of them which is a shame because some get nice saddles, only yo grow out of them. And the age range was 13/14 and by age 16 they had to get a new one. Pain the the arse! If you want to know if the seat fits you really well, sit on it in correct position, and but a hand behind you on your seat. If you fit 3 fingers to a hand from your back to the end of the seat, then it's perfect. I fit a hand and my trainer absolutely loves how it fits me. The hardest thing is trying to find a saddle that fits your horse that perfect way, and that is comfotable for you and fits you. Saddle fitting can be a pain. I had a hell of a time with Mac, until I tried the wonderful Wintec saddles and then ungraded to a Bates. I heart those Good luck saddle finding, and I'll look atthose pictures when I have the computer to do so... School computers are sucky. ~Kasea
from dressagediva :
I actually sold one of my dressage saddles for $100. And it was used only 3 times. The saddle didn't fit Mac and it was way too big for me, so I just wanted to get rid of it. Maybe you'll find the same situation?
from dressagediva :
I know what you mean! The older my horseys get, the younger they think they are =\ Denial I call it =P I'm so glad you had a good day! It sounds so awesome. I love reading about your rides and Arty and I'm very happy you found a new riding buddy. I can't wait 'til I can ride again *sighs*
from dressagediva :
I'm glad you're feeling better!! That survey was so informative. We actually have a lot in common. We're just that awesome, hehe.
from dressagediva :
Aww hun! I'm so sorry *hugs* It sucks when you find that someone you like has a girlfriend. I'm really sorry =( He's missing out. You're an awesome girl plus you ride horses! That makes you THAT much better =) Hey! You know we all love you!!!
from dressagediva :
I'm glad that you're feeling like a Dressage Queen! The salute IS weird at first, lol. I remember I rushed the judge in the salute. I was REALLY nervous to be fece to face with a judge, but then my rainer told me that I had to wait for him/her to respond to my salute. Never have I rushed a judge again! My scores weren't bad either, lol. Anyways, I'm glad you're practicing centerlines. They're hard, expecially on Arabs since they hate being square, haha. Sonn you'll be with all of us Dressage riders in the show ring!!! =)
from dressagediva :
My show season is over =( BUT! I'll be in a parade with Victor in a week, so I'll post pictures of that =D
from dressagediva :
Certain people can defintely change your life. My "adoptive cousin" and I flip eachother off as a hello sign. Guess it's the thing now, lol =P
from dressagediva :
Hey! Glad you had a good ride. And yes, double reins are weird at first but boy are they fun!!!

Now you know why I don't watch a lot of tv ;). I think the most important thing anyone can do now is to be sure people do vote and can get to the polls. With all the BS going on with FL etc. already, people are going to think why bother if it won't count. It's only going to get worse the next two weeks.
from dressagediva :
Oh of couse. I'd be mad if people told me to shut up. Heck.. I'd smack them across the face, as I've done before, lol. Losing the temper is healthy. Imagine how we'd be without it. I know I'd be chaos!!! lol
from dressagediva :
Hmm that's weird. At my school we all talk about policts but we respect eachother. Actually, politics is a great thing in my school with the upper classmen since we're in Government. I support Kerry but whenever someone says they support Bush I don't say that they're stupid. Yes.. I know, I ranted in my journal about that article, but it's my journal, lol. It's odd that people say "Shut up!" or poke holes in stickers. My school's never done that. Who know where this election will go?
from dressagediva :
Glad you had an awesome ride! Too bad it's cold though. It's raining over here and I'm complaining about it. I hate cold weather, hehe. That's too bad that Kathy doesn't have a blanket for Arty =( Mac's 10 with a heavy coat, but I body clip him in the winter because he won't dry if I don't and he'll start getting fungus. I keep a blanket on him for that, and a sleezy =) But Victor doesn't get shaved and he's bigger than Mac, he's also 6 years old and in a stall, Mac's outside. But kathy should have a blanket on the boys! He must be cold! I'm glad you're having a good time with Arty, and keep warm!! ;)
from dressagediva :
Boys will be boys, what can I say? (haha). How's 4-H going? I'm also in 4-H so I kinda know what you talk about when you start talking about it. I'm glad you had an awesome ride with Arty. Hopefully someday I'll see you in the show ring ;)
from farmingwife :
I would really like to use the one of you on Arty where it is so close up. I think in your description you said you would have liked it if you were looking up. I'd be doing just shadows so no one would notice anyway. I like the one of you hugging Arty too while sitting on him. It is too small for details though. I'm just trying to capture the love of girls/women and their horses.
from farmingwife :
Well I bet Arty would be beautiful in western...really! I love western best then dressage so I guess I'm a little biased. Well, if it would be ok, I would like to use one of your other photos in your albums. And I'm proud to be 43 ;). I feel like 20 most days, lol.
from farmingwife :
Good luck and most of all, have FUN! Get a picture of yourself in western, I need another girl riding western picture for my series on women and their horses, hehe! Also, isn't it amazing when you "get it"?? And once you get it you GET IT! Whoo! Congrats girl.
from farmingwife :
And I forgot to say go ahead and post his picture...your Jim. ;)
from farmingwife :
Ah, first loves. Mine was Jonny. I only saw him in the summers when we went up to visit relatives in Ashland...sigh. I finally got a picture of him because I had my brother take it ;). It was good too. When I was in college someone stole it off my cork board in my room :(.
from dressagediva :
I'm glad you're feeling better. And where are those pictures of Jim!? (lol). I know how you feel about close friends, I don't have many of those either. And the last show of the season is always sad. I have my last show from Oct 6 to Oct 11. Good thing it's a long show! =P Good luck on yours! Should we wait for pictures? =)
from dressagediva :
I'm sorry things are going like that. Al I can say is that I wish for the best and I hope you feel better soon... very soon *hugs*
from farmingwife :
WhooHoo! I was thinking about you all day! Way to go!!!! Congratulations!!!
from farmingwife :
Good luck at the show tomorrow. Hope you don't have a bug. Perhaps you are to eat when taking the pills? I'll be thinking about you! I'll be at my artist's reception ;).
from dressagediva :
Ah! Falling off. I remember the last time I fell off. I hurt my hip, neck, and ribs. Of course, my Smacky boy fell on top of me so that could've been it. So.. where's Jim's picture? ;)
from dressagediva :
Hey girl! Ya know.. things like that happen at shows. Horses will be horses, but that's why we love 'em! Congrats on your showmanship class!! Mac, Victor, and I will be cheering for you from over here =)
from farmingwife :
That is great your Mom is showing a little interest! Don't discourage her now!!! :D
from farmingwife :
Whoo! Can't wait to see the getup on Arty! He's so dang pretty anyway. As for the pad, it is good and thick, that is good. Everything seems so thin these days. As for girths in their bedrooms, well, how about my "happy tack" bucket with tack cleaning supplies hanging on the back of my bedroom door, my western saddle and bridle in the living room and my hall pegs have my halters and bridles??? Yeah "Early American Stable" decor!
from dressagediva :
Hey, It's DressagDiva007 from LJ. Yeah, I have one of these but I never update, hehe. You know, things like that happen. It happens to EVERYONE. I'm sure Kathy made silly mistakes. It's not stupid and the horse can't get too sick from hay - if it was grain, then that's a different story - but it wasn't. The guys that work at our barn have been there for YEARS and horses still get out quite often and get into the hay. Some have gotten out more than 3 times and they're up and happy. Things happen. When I started out, the girls who worked with my at our first stable and I were cleaning the pasture and the 30 horses that were in there got out. All we could do is laugh and have fun herding them back in. The owner of our barn laughed so hard at us, but she was that way. She didn't care unless they got into the grain. I would stop worrying about Laurie to clear your mind. If she doesn't have perfect equitation, oh well, she'll improve over time with practice. Just remember, accidents happen and Steve shouldn't have treated you that way. That was completely wrong in his part. Feel better hun! Kasea
from farmingwife :
It was considered new when I was in high school and I graduated in 1979! So yah, it is OLD as dirt, LOL!!!! But better you guys get mods than the so-called "new math" which was so confusing! It took two years of tech school to beat that nonsense out of my brain! And didn't you know, by now we were to be living on the moon, driving flying cars and popping meal pills...hee!
from farmingwife :
O! M! G! They still do mods???? West Bend's high schools did those. I can't believe that system is still in use. LOL.
from farmingwife :
I got there Sat. Am. I found your name and number in the program and walked around the grounds several times peeking into crates, LOL. Shoot, well I'm sorry I missed you.
from farmingwife :
Hey girl, just wanted to let you know it is to be a beautiful weekend up thisaway but cool so make sure you bring some warm clothes too. Sun gets pretty intense and it can get hot but be prepared ;). I was originally told the show was in Menomonee but I see it is not (got my directions today) and it is a little closer. Matter of fact I got my oldest mare from that area.
from farmingwife :
I feel for you. I don't know what to say. As a mom I don't make my kids do anything they don't want in sports. Both did football, one did wrestling. If they want to go back great, if not, that is ok by me too. My parents took horses away from me once when I was about your age. Horses were my life and that was all I had or needed. Horses kept me away from drugs and alcohol and boys, by choice. I was never the popular one in school and that was a good thing because I'm sorry but the popular girls were nothing but trouble. But I had a great close knit group of HORSEY friends that I am still friends with today. Unhorsey people just do not get it. It is ok to be as you are. I read your journal(s) and think you are a mature thinking young woman with her head on straight. I do not know why your parents bulk so at the interest in horses. They are wonderful for exercise, companionship, meeting great people, learning new things, hard work and learning responsiblity. Now, do not go repeating this to them as in "this lady says and she's a mom". Put these things into your own words and tell your parents in a calm manner. Or if you are like me and get too emotional, write them a letter. If you really do not want to do volleyball then you need to convince them why and what you will do instead. Be very honest and calm about it.
from its-mizzsars :
hey nice site. peace out
from farmingwife :
Well I will just have to plan on going. I've never been to a state 4h dog show before. I'd like to see what it is about. My dog is a whimpy doo too except when it comes to chasing cows!
from farmingwife :
by "rooting" them on I mean my neice and her dog Jade...wish we could edit these.
from farmingwife :
I can't show ;)...too old, ha. Both my kids will be gone so if I go it will be to "root" them on. Never been to a state dog show so should be fun. Jodi, our 4H project leader says it is interesting to watch because a lot of kids aren't taught the footwork and the loose leash etc. I may bring my dog along though for some "socializing" since my brother will have a camper etc. there. I'd love to show my dog myself but I am so far from any dog shows I find out about them too late! There is one in Marshfield in Aug. and I found out about it the night entries were due...grrr! So next year I guess. We do obedience and he's in beginners agility although I had to quit going to classes in the summer due to farm work. What will you be showing in? If we were we'd be prenovice yet. I don't know what my neice is with Jade. They do a lot more down there because there is an opportunity to do so. Sometimes living in the boonies sucks...but I'd rather be here any day, LOL.
from farmingwife :
My brother and family are coming up from West Bend to the state show so I will probably go over to watch. My kids will be out of town that weekend or we'd have gone also. Figures since for once it is so close...if you call two hours close...but still closer than going to Milwaukee. Don't tell me you are going...
from farmingwife :
I'm sorry to see you go...sniff.
from farmingwife :
I once showed under a judge who made every class...every class (!) counter canter! I showed my Paints western...I was SO TIRED of it. I think that is how she placed her show, by who screwed up the counter canter THIS time.
from farmingwife :
I haven't found my dog yet. We have 235 acres for her to disappear onto and several hundred acres of wild fields and woods to wander off into. I'm still looking though. I do have her collar, I took it off her when she was in the house. So I plan to at least make a little memorial to her in my garden...
from farmingwife :
I have been playing Horseland for three years now. I go through phases where I play a lot and then not so. They have really changed it this summer and much I like some I don't. But I just renewed my premie on it because it is a nice escape for me. The fact I can make the horses basically what I want I like. I checked out a new game called Equine-Ranch and jeepers, you can't choose the sex or color and put a picture up. That stinks. I'll stick with HL. When I was your age we didn't have computers so my horse fix was model horses. Breyers back then cost $5.00 though that was a lot back then. But not like they are today! Outrageous. But my plastic ponies gave me a great outlet for horses and I still enjoy the hobby today.
from farmingwife :
Thanks a lot for your note. It has taken me a few days to really accept that it is time for her to go. If she is still with us tomorrow I plan to take her to be euthanized. She was my best friend for over 13 years, this is just so hard. But she is ready now and I guess so am I...
from farmingwife :
Oh, and I was looking at your albums on webshots...do you play horseland? I do!
from farmingwife :
Oh no! Your bridle is broken already? See if you can trade it for another...that is what I'd do. I used to think "what does one do with a mini" but my goodness, my friend Pat does everything but ride them. Do you get the WI Horseman's News????
from farmingwife :
Hi fella Wisconsinite! I would love to see a pic of the Mini stud. My best friend raises minis and I have one, a little gelding. They are REALLY smart so with lots of love and handling Nugget will come around. I'm curious as to where he came from?
