I've tried your guest book this past week, but it seems to be down. I wanted to thank you for leaving a comment about my return. Later this week, I wanted to mention your Gallery. I feel the need to revisit High Park after seeing what you've captured. Thank you.

Hi Aaron. I'm leaving notes for everyone who has left me a note within the last year. I have a new blog at http://reflectohymn.diaryland.com in which I write at a regular time of the day every day. I'm doing it as part of the counseling with Father Rick at my Episcopal church - the one I told you about, where my daughter and stepdaughter were baptized. It's been a rough year, and I'm trying to stay focused and put a few of the missing pieces together. I'd appreciate it if you'd check it out. Thanks - Andy.
from leftunspoken :
Some of those googles scared me. I'll make you a bookmark anytime. Any of your personal genres in need of fair representation? Missed you!
from divabunny :
Please create a survey called 'barbarella' and I will tell you what I like to do with feathers, my bad roommate experiences and what kind of senior citizen I plan on being (i.e. grumpy old shyster, bag lady)..
from minstrelite :
Hi Aaron. I haven't talked to you in a while, but am just writing to say that you're welcome to read my musical if you have time. I can email it to you if you can open a Word 2002 document. I also have most of the music stored on wave files on my system and can email those too. Moreover, you're invited to participate in the discussion on the message board, but only if you have the time and the inclination. I sent you the URL. Anyway, I hope all is well with you and "hornstar," and that you are enjoying your new place of residence. Shalom.
from bethel1467 :
Thank you Aaron. I can't begin to express how much my bride and I appreciate your kindness and prayers.
from mattieluna :
You asked where in Wisc my dad is moving to. I don't know where exactly. He was born in Waukesha and grew up in Mukwonago and went to college in Madison. His sister lives in Racine. I guess he's moving in with his high school sweetheart after they met up after not seeing each other for 35 years. But I am not sure where she lives. I imagine Mukwonago or Waukesha because he said he still has a lot of old friends in town but... yeah, I'm not sure where.
from ilonina :
Aw - you leave us! But the nice diary dances around something rotten in Opera. Any chance you could fix it, because I'd love to keep up there.
from stwig :
It's enough to make you weep, isn't it? Our president is an extremely foolish man.
from minstrelite :
intended
from minstrelite :
Hi Aaron - I haven't read you lately (no pun iontendeed) partly because I lost my reading glasses, and partly because I don't read very well (hopefully the former is more the cause than the latter). I'd be interested in knowing what you thought of my book. Believe it or not, I edited it one more time and left out all entries surrounding my mother's death, now believing in hindsight that I wasn't in my tight mind at the time - and for quite a while afterward. Also, I've got new entries posted if you'd like to take a look. Shalom.
from mangofarmer :
So these gowns and cassocks, what color are they? How many do you have to get? Isn't the FAFSA fun? How's hornstar? Um, basically, you're not boring. That, or I'm just really bored. ;)
from hornstar :
Please keep your puns on YOUR notes page. Mine is pure and free from such grating word play.
from leftunspoken :
Holding down jobs. Tackling work. Confronting pressing issues. Attacking the problem. The work world is amazingly violent isn't it?? I'm sure in Canada they only politely request that jobs remain where they are, unless of course that is an inconvenience, in which case they should go on their way with everyone's best wishes for a pleasant day. Because everything's wonderful and better in Canada. ;p
from parlance :
Quite well, thank you.
from parlance :
How are you?
from bethel1467 :
For the record he was an asshole. All we can hope is the idiot can't figure out how to release the safety on the gun. Wait a minute he's a Republican, that means the gun had no safety. Hope the jolly professionals airport security pistol whipped the sonabitch. Sorry to have shed my Anglican sense of decorum.
from parlance :
Hullo.
from bethel1467 :
Absolutely, beautiful writing Aaron. The entry is like an Easter benediction. Thanks for that. (P.S. I was and am deeply humbled by your quoting from, and linking to, my diary entry the other day. You're a very kind man.)

It could also be your right kidney...a stone or just an infection. My sister and I both suffer from frequent kidney problems.

Low on the right is appendix. High on the right is liver. Or maybe you just pulled a muscle. If the pain gets way worse, or your eyes get yellow...go to the ER. :)
from stwig :
You'll laugh, but that happened to me once listening to "The Little Drummer Boy" in the middle of a Border's Book store...
from bethel1467 :
Thank you for your kind comments I really appreciate it. Question for you: Do you ever feel like the very last thing you want to do at a party is intellectually joist with a person who hates the Faith but seems to yearn for it none the less? How do you respond Aaron? Best regards-- Pete

yeah, i guess the anglican cassock isn't exactly what one would call slimming. it's also a little hard to get into if you're not used to it. that being said, i have one nonetheless, because i thought all those little buttons on the roman one would make me insane. sidebar: soon you will be having multiple conversations like this daily.
from pbjgrrl :
so anglican cassock or roman cassock?
from bethel1467 :
HEY CONGRATULATIONS!! The venerable Anglican Church just got more venerable. (not sure exactly what that means, but trust me its a compliment)
from pbjgrrl :
congrats on school! did it really say that you needed vestments? interesting. i know someone doing a PhD at Trinity in Canada, and he said that they wear their graduation robes to meals and to morning prayer. interesting, eh?
from blue-flag :
Oh yeah, I see now. The problem is I'm being inconsistant. Argh. Nick=BlueEyes.
from blue-flag :
Yeah, it's supposed to be. Does this mean I need to make a Cast page? Or just explain myself better?
from bethel1467 :
o dear lord. . . . i went nuts just being separated by a few states. i couldn't handle the thought of my beloved (or me for that matter)being in a war zone . . . . that your co-worker can handle such realities (i pray) is a testement to the endurance of the human spirit. ps my eyes must be crapping out on me again i just inadvertantly posted this message in my notes sections. i look like a man holding an internet conversation with himself.
from bethel1467 :
point taken. i can empathize with you on the tedium of enduring distance from your beloved. after my bride and i were engaged she moved back to Conneticut to live at home and save cash and plan for our wedding one year off. me? i the company i hired on with moved me to houston. separation is a bitter thing.
from bethel1467 :
great to read another your posts. wel, come back. so when do you plan to ask hornstar to be your bride?
from ilonina :
Belated thanks for all your kind comments - and let me reciprocate by saying I'm always delighted when you update! It's St. Patrick's Day, so I shall attempt to give myself relief from the thinking too much. You approve, I hope?
from blue-flag :
Hey, this is thrennion just letting you know I've completed the switch to my new diary--it's blue-flag now. Have a great day, fellow Milwaukeean. :) Oh, by the way, we went to look at that apartment and it didn't really work out. I guess we'll be looking a little closer to campus--the neighborhood was a little sketchy and too far from the buslines for comfort. It wasn't bad, but I know we can do better. Thanks for the advice--that really helped!
from uberfrau :
Back when I was eighteen, I went on a date with a guy I met at the junior college. I was skeptical about going out with him in the first place, in the summers he was a fish monger at the Renaissance Faire, but despite his affected ye olde english accent(in california), I went out with him anyway. I would have probably gone out with him again, and who knows, maybe now I'd be in a guild, were it not for one fateful afternoon, where, as I walked passed the student lounge, I saw him playing Magick cards. It was all too much. I never went out with him again. What you said about D&D, God's own truth, it's almost as bad as Magick.
from dana-elayne :
Oh I hope you and your sweetie have an amazingly wonderful time! :)
from thrennion :
Just a quick note to let you know that someone I know found my diary online, so I'll be moving it in the near future. I'll let you know when I've got a new diaryland address!

I wouldn't say I'll MISS jogging.
from thrennion :
I would love to have a big dog with us! I want a Great Dane very much. Problem is, Ani has a phobia of any dog over thirty pounds. But we are planning on getting a small dog, which may or may not be of any help at all. :) The apartment we're looking at today is in Riverwest, on Pierce St...I think we're planning on calling the police department as well just in case they can tell us anything more about the neighborhood.
from mangofarmer :
Tee hee.

Wow... that website has ketchup chips! I will have to order some.
from mattieluna :
I love your "punchline" at the bottom of your google hits entry. i'm sitting here with the cat and laughing (the cat doesn't get it). And good job on getting so many google hits. I hardly ever get hits for mine.
from ilonina :
Oh, hee! A good friend of mine sang at Christ Church Oxford, and came back in shock and trembling at the snobbiness and bawdiness of the culture there obtaining. I'm sure he knows your organist - I shall make inquiries to see if I can dig up anything interesting on him...
from mattieluna :
aw. I love the mushy stuff. I like how you write about it because it didn't actually sound mushy--it sounded real... I always try to write about love and not sound mushy, but I don't think I can very well. It seems like I'm experiencing something brand new but everything I have to say about it has been said a million times before. I cant quite break out of that yet...

Kerry Leads Bush in the Polls and now the news out of Washington is "white powdered poison in the Senate." Federal gov. has been following similar incidents for months now --- why bring this story public . . . just when Kerry is gaining momentum....
from theatrbee :
Thanks for your "Bare Reading" entry! I was so glad you shared the point of Mary "pondering" before "proclaiming". I would like to officially proclaim that i think your journal is really.... oh, wait.... i'd like to PONDER that your journal is really.... nifty. OH! I also checked out your theatre resume on your website. VERY nifty. I was particularly intruiged with the list of college productions you did, simply because Dysart is one of the best characters EVER. Wish i could have been there!!!
from pbjgrrl :
i guess it really doesn't (need interpreting). i think i've just been reading too much prophecy in the old testament lately.
from mangofarmer :
If you should ever by some freak occurrence get the chance to listen to "Gallimaufry" by Guy Woolfenden, I would highly recommend it. It's a piece for wind ensemble with a very medieval feel. And it has lots of lovely piccolo solos. :)
from mangofarmer :
But have you ever actually *been* to the evil plane-sucking vortex that is the Detroit Airport? Evil, evil, evil. Oh, the horror.
from pbjgrrl :
ah, yes. canada. kindereggs. milk in bags. and, yes, hornstar. i'm sure you'll be fine re: applying. do they want the GREs?
from pbjgrrl :
and where might you be applying?
from gloamling :
Thanks for the reccomendation. I may look it up -- but part of my point of is that I don't want Tolkien's stories about these people -- I want mine! From reading the Silmarilion and the Appendices to LotR, I know that he had everything figured out his way, but in terms of SamandFrodo, in particular, I think his idea of what ought to happen to them is quite different from mine. My friend Jess has berated me for not noting that Sam goes to the grey havens eventually, but see, I _hate_ that bit. You're quite right about the style -- but actually I think that's one of the weakest features of the books. I think he's best when he's least conversational, and should have kept a bit of a stronger hold on tone. But he's far from alone in that fault! Even, say, Fitzgerald does it sometimes. Congratulations on applying to seminary! Those first steps are so hard. I know from my own experience
from ilonina :
Very, very best of luck, and many congratulations for having the guts to go for it!

on occasion i do indeed have friends over for tea. she had lady grey, and i had herbal tea; we decided not to eat anything because we weren't hungry (how sensible!) i'm glad you had a good time with hornstar. i used to be in a long distance relationship. i loved and hated seeing him. loved for obvious reasons; hated because leaving was so friggin hard.
from mangofarmer :
Crap, I don't have $45. Unless she accepts Monopoly money...
from minstrelite :
It's cool. As I may have told you, I did delete three of the entries I wrote while in a delerium and about to fall deathly ill for nearly two weeks, as they were bizarre. My blog is pure once again. We'll connect soon, I'm sure. Your VIP was hornstar, perhaps? Hmmm....have a happy and healthy 2004. God bless.
from bethel1467 :
Good to read your entry. Its nice to have you back online.
from minstrelite :
Just read your "Return of the King" article. Yeah....things are pretty freaky. I read Psalm 5 the day I found out and it comforted me. That was one entry I didn't delete. I'm up late only because I've slept probably 100 hours in the last few days, and now that I'm reasonably well....well, I think I'll go to bed. Sleep may not come, but I guess it's just one of those dark nights of the soul.
from minstrelite :
I was in a bizarre, deluded state when I stayed up and wrote the four entries, then wrote to you singularly and to a number of people en masse. I felt myself becoming ill, but pushed myself anyway. Now I've been hit with the flu and sleeping round the clock, eating very little. It's finally devolved into a mere cold. I just checked all the entries, and I think I deleted everything that would be the incidence of arrogance on my part, or disrespectful to the name of Jesus. The last few days have been rough, but in aloneness, I've realized a lot of things about myself. It might take a while for the changes to take effect...anyway, I hope you had a Merry Christmas, and may God bless you.
from ilonina :
Go raibh maith agat! Agus daoibh freisin.
from bethel1467 :
Yup, you're right it sucks to hear about holiday terrorism. A few days ago my youngest daughter (aged 4) asked in what terrorism meant. Lord have mercy. I'm all for your idea of waiting for the King. God bless.
from leftunspoken :
Wishing you and your lady love a Merry Christmas!

While I concur with the sentiment that basic decency shouldn't be impressive, I offer that beauty and kindness and love are in the smallest of acts as well as the largest and that they have the ability to bond to one another and become big things. It's all very "The Little Bug that went Ka-choo!" Change the world by picking up the bagels...it's true. And you are a good man so hush. Peace, Marcia
from pbjgrrl :
i saw a cartoon once that said something to the effect of, "why is there all this jesus stuff all over these christmas cards??" yet another occassion where i had to laugh and sigh at the same time.
from bethel1467 :
Hi aaronorear Thanks for the note on Art Bell. That man is an institution. I don't always know if he buys what he's selling but man the stories . . . . By the way, have you ever heard of a fellow on the radio named Tom Mishky? He is another classic of contemporary radio. James Fallows wrote a praising article on Mishky for the Atlantic Monthly, which is how learned about Mishky's program. The program is like nothing I've ever heard. I believe you can pick him up off the internet, if you're interested. He works for a radio station called KSTP 1500AM, which is also the station's URL. Anyway . . . again thanks for stopping by my diary. `
from pbjgrrl :
thanks. i need to put my rings back up, though.... mr. anglican diaryring man!

Effete Episcopalian Ineptitude. Once baptised, never cured, it would appear! Maybe there's something to be said for those decisive Mormons, after all.

Hey there. Stumbled upon your diary via your banner. It's really great! I sing in a Cathedral choir (in Australia) and I used to work as a verger at the Cathedral... Take it easy :oP
from daramane :
'eyo. Found your diary off of a random banner click. Like it. I like delving into the thoughts and feelings of random individuals. Thank you for fulfilling my need for the moment. I plan on returning if you don't mind. And good luck with the computer.
from mangofarmer :
Well, at least the computer didn't say "turn me off." Hearing that at 4AM is a bad sign. ;)
from mangofarmer :
Are you having Krispy Kremes for dinner? If so, that would be an excellent dinner.
from bethel1467 :
Hey many thanks for the welcome to the Anglican diaryring. I look forward to chatting with you and the other members. Thanks again.
from fcprincesse :
of course, I'm biased about where my country loyalty lies, but I think the Toronto seminary would be good for you... :)

thanks for your note. i can't remember whether i mentioned this or not, but the smugness of both sides claiming to have a monopoly (episcopoly?) on divine will is disheartening and tiring, at least to me. i've just felt an unwillingness to listen. but i am hopeful. for what? i'm not sure. perhaps you'd appreciate the quote on my email footer in a number of ways: "not all that glitters is gold; not all who wander are lost." -tolkien

from minstrelite :
Thanks for the encouragement! I do love God, and at times I have the wonderful experience of loving Him with all my heart, soul, mind and strength. Right now, in fact, is one of those times. It's just that, like many of us, my awareness of my shortcomings is very great, and I tend often to forget or doubt that Jesus died for all that junk. As far as Socrates' quote is concerned, I think I was referring to your obvious superiority in the study of Scripture and your greater knowledge in that area, due partly to your intelligence and partly to the fact that you are receiving formal training as an aspirant. I really do appreciate your staying in touch, and e-mails of course are always welcome. Me, I've got to get moving again. I was blessed with a huge night's sleep (I went to bed immediately after leaving you the notes, which was a little after midnight, Pacific DayLight time, and I didn't get up until 9:30!) For that I am thankful. However, my first voice student arrives at eleven, so I must ready myself. Thanks again for your words of encouragement, and have a blessed weekend.
from minstrelite :
Forgive mispellings and typos. I didn't have the energy to proof-read the notes. I hope to hear from you again before long. Shalom.
from minstrelite :
(Continued from previous note - copy & paste issue) I was stricken by your statement, "We are then presented with an ultimate choice - accept salvation or hold on to your own ego." My fear is that I will hold on to my own ego, as my ego has been fed in recent times by incredible success is my professional life. Agreed, the Bible is a confusing book, and the fact that I, having a reading disability, have read the Bible to the exclusion of all other books for twenty years, might not be helpful. My knowledge of Scripture, as I'm sure you've gathered, is quite adequate, but my sin-consciousness, knowing my sins, for many of which I confess I feel no conscience or conviction whatsoever, is immense. Despite what I wrote in today's entry, I sense that my death is impending, and I want to be right with God at the time of that death, though I may, of necessity, experience hell, as you have stated. I hope this note has not been too incoherent. I prioritized writing to you pver proceeding with a work-related project, as these matters are ultimately far more important. As Socrates said, "every man desires to be with a man better than himself," and you, Aaron Orear, are a man better than myself. Please stay in touch, and may God bless you as you continue to grow in wisdom and serve the Lord.
from minstrelite :
This will be my last act of the day, having already had my two shots of Vodka, which I received with thanksgiving after a lengthy work day. In accordance with your words, I quote "For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe," (1 Timothy 4:10.) This seems to indicate that God has saved all of us though the death and resurrection of Jesus, rather than not only the believers, since Jesus effectively stole the keys of death and hell from Satan while serving his three days in that place. Also 1 John 2:2 - "He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for our sins, but for the sins of the whole world." These Scriptures seem to indicate that Christ's atoning death on the Cross, etc., was sufficient to provide full responsibilty on the part of God for the quirks of His creation. It also jives with what I have noticed that older religious people (for example, my landlord and my ex-mother-in law) have come to believe in the wisdom which accompanies long life. Otherwise, I am stricken by your statement,
from minstrelite :
Interesting. Does that mean that all are saved?
from ilonina :
yikes, Freudian slip, that should of course read "_not_ everything connected to Germany is suffused with Naziism."
from ilonina :
You could get a guestbook, you know! There's more of an auto-file system. I just wanted to say, I'm sure you didn't mean to be anti-German, but _Deutschland, Deutschland_ is still the national anthem of the Federal Republic, albeit with that particular verse left out. Bush is evil because he is evil, not because he is like Hitler. Equally, everything connected with Germany is suffused with Nazi-ism. I get your point, that Bush is a fascist, but sweeping comparisons to "Germany" are liable to upset present-day Germans. I do know enough of them!
from aaronorear :
I went on a cleaning binge and cleared out all my old notes, saving copies of this and that, and fondly remembering exchanges and comments past. Time to start filling again!
