Wuff! Where have you gone?
from raven72d :
I'll be looking forward to that. I have missed you.

Are you still alive out there?
from raven72d :

from raven72d :
I'd love to be remembered for a book...

from raven72d :
The layout photo is haunting and lovely...
from raven72d :
Thank you... I will try it with navy-blue slacks... I appreciate the info.
from willow-rain :
I always found it interesting that she was fighting for women to have rights in the home (domesticity) when modern women's rights are about getting women out of the home and able to work and be equal. Good Luck!
from willow-rain :
lol, i found falstaff annoying too. i enjoyed reading your journal.
from scndhanxsoul :
well thank you. its good to know somebody still reads my ramblings from time to time...if only by a passing glance
from raven72d :
I'm glad you liked it! Good luck on the classes, girl-- and do stay in touch.
from raven72d :
Try powells.com for "The Friend"...or interlibrary loan... It's a great book.
from raven72d :
Alan Bray, "The Friend"... Worth making the library find for you.
from raven72d :
"Charles Dexter Ward" is a brilliant Lovecraft read...
from stardustcboy :
hmmm...i don't believe that reciprocal love doesn't exist. reciprocity is a common force throughout the universe. every action has an equal and opposite reaction, that sort of thing. but therein lies the trick. in order for the reaction to occur the action must be set in motion. reciprocity doesn't just happen, it must be continually set in motion by the two forces involved. one gives and one in turn takes, then it reverses, then reverts, then reverses...a constant ebb and flow of power and energy between two opposing entities. love, once in place, requires a certain amount of maintenance and a symbiotic unity between the two parties. when one side slips, so too do the bonds of that love...when one is giving and giving and there is no return...love wanes because the output of energy on one side is too great and the whole becomes out-of-balance, the energy begins to become depleted for it bleeds off uselessly and the friction of the moving parts slows the entirety to a halt. that is not to say that love is gone, it would require re-invigorating, but at that point is it worth it? the spinning of a wheel on well lubricated ball bearings is effortless, but if those bearings were to rust then eventually the wheel wouldn't be able to move at all. such is the way with all things...i'm reading you. ~B-)
from raven72d :
Excellent! Great to have you back!
from czarandom :
excellent then, glad to see your return. did you consider fortune cookies? I suppose you can be thankful that he lives within 1600 miles eh?
from czarandom :
I'm equally surprized and pleased to hear from you. I've asked myself that question before more than once and I don't know. Keep in touch!
from raven72d :
Gaaah! You're leaving! Please let me know where you are at Live Journal!!
from raven72d :
I thought it meant you were turned on by computer chips.
from headcasebaby :
I'm mos def intellisexual also, I like intelligence, probably a little too much. I'm not going to attempt to create my own word because--ah, fuck it, I will. I'm... aggresexual (not to be confused with AGORAsexual) because my way of flirting is to aggrevate the shit out of people. That also works out double time because I am attracted to aggressive people. Score!
from sunnflower :
Stopping in from your banner. I like the intellisexual concept!
from life-is-this :
I'm prettyteethsexual because I'm attracted to pretty teeth/smiles. :-)
from dark-doll :
teehee, intellisexual. That's fun :P:)...Mine would probably be Horniboldness or something like that *angel looks* :P
from buddhawhoa :
fierce...i know that's not creative. but that's the best i could do dammit! :P
from raven72d :
I'll see what I can do about the 'boks.
from czarandom :
How'd you like it? Take your best shot at answering the question. Really. Use what's inferred in the argument.
from phizhy :
oh great entry! ['republican doublespeak'] ::prepares forwards:: --i locked my diary @ me [[email protected]] for the password.
from raven72d :
Why expect consistency in foreign policy? Saddam was useful in killing Iranians in the mid-80s, but then he got above himself and had to be crushed. As an insolent Native despot, he was a proclaimed enemy of the US and by surviving in power offered at least moral encouragement to other enemies of the US. After September 2001, that can't be tolerated.
from czarandom :
Android... funny.
from momma-zoe :
Thank you so very much for all that info! I don't think I'll go that far yet, because unlike your ex, mine occasionally attempts to see them. He is only allowed to see them when sober and having a non psychotic day. Plus he has to be supervised. But he attempts every once in a while. I really wish you the very best in your fight. It will be better for your child in the end. But I really appreciate all the info you left me. Thank you very much.
from momma-zoe :
I had a question. How will his rights be terminiated soon? My ex doesn't help with our 2 boys, doesn't give me money, hardly comes to see them. He is schitzophrenic with a drug problem. He'll never change. I was just wondering what process you have gone thru, if you don't mind me asking. Thanks.
from czarandom :
On the nose my dear, on the nose.
from czarandom :
HAHA, it's funny how my previous note seems to be about your 8.25.04 post, not that I'm not paranoid that you're talking about me. Anyway I just thought I'd point out that I don't need to be hypnotized to do most things so you needent bother, however if there is ganging up in progress, I'd likely hesitate before I'd mind it at all. :D
from raven72d :
Most ghastly person on D-Land? I have a sinking, doom-fraught feeling...
from czarandom :
Thank you for alerting me to the problem. I will repair this post haste. :)
from czarandom :
I just avoid the news like the plague because i know i'll never leave the house if i watch it. It's always like, "this new horrible grotesque thing just happened... let's watch" and at the same time they constantly offer up new bigger and better things to be afraid of. Fear, it seems, has a market and we are only too eager to spend bottom dollar to get all that we can. Ok, i'm done with this soap box now. Anybody need a used soapbox?
from raven72d :
I always watch overseas news-- if we're bombing Foeigners. But I never watch the local news. Too depressing-- always hot and humid, always stupid, boring stories...
from czarandom :
Sorry for the double noting, but I just had to comment on the excellent new style. Very Nice!
from czarandom :
Those are my feelings exactly about marriage but it just seems like expecting anything of someone is a surefire way to become disappointed. Now I can guess what you're thinking, but I know that it's cynical and I try to avoid thinking that way, but sometimes I just can't help it.
from raven72d :
I love the new layout images... I'm a major fan of early-'60s Futurist style!
from carriem :
I love the pic on ur blog :) You're a great person :) Carrie

I'm getting called a man eater. Which is sorta ridiculous, because I'm not in to cannibalism.
from czarandom :
if it makes you feel any better, I don't even plan on getting married...
from raven72d :
I've reached an age where bachelor-dom is sustained by inertia. Having made it this far, it's just easier not to get married.
from kittyleopard :
Yo, you know me and I'm not getting married. Foo, its a bloody miracle for me to even get a guy to talk to me. *dances*
from raven72d :
Oh, I don't know... A cross-dressing Russian princeling or two livens up every soiree...
from raven72d :
And had a truly remarkable constitution-- see how much (poison, knives, bullets, water, cold) it took to kill him.
from raven72d :
Rasputin... Well, the last in a line of "holy fools" who attached themselves to the tsarina's circle. Some, like Father Philippe the faux-Belgian, were obvious charlatans. Rasputin-- "Father Grigorii" --was at least a believer in his own power. I'd argue that his influence on any real policy was never very much, though the advice he did give in July 1914-- avoid war with Germany and the Habsburg Monarchy --was sounder than anything the tsar got from his ministers.

I used to write a particularly loathed ex's phone number on $5 bills with the note "[her name here] gives great head" and spend the bills at liquor stores in a Bad part of town.

physics lab revenge: replace a single resistor in a helmholtz coil and watch as sparks fly (I used this on a friend of mine who took apart the lab bench i use most often just enough that it would fall apart when I sat on it), and... if you go to a hardware store and buy a can of clear spray lacquer, you can spray it on chalk and cheese off the prof...

from nypizzas2 :
No!!! Don't leave!! You will be missed. :(
from raven72d :
Damn it, don't leave just when I'm getting to find you clever and fun and worth reading! I like having you there at D-Land to read!!
from raven72d :
Yes, but it's still there on the flats. And prone to flooding. I'm more fond of Persia. Better landscape, better poetry.
from raven72d :
yay, San-X stationery! and do send a letter!!
from czarandom :
Thank you or the advice, it's greatly appreciated.
from raven72d :
I'll miss you while you're gone...
from raven72d :
Let me know how the trip begins... And the summer class schedule sounds interesting...
from raven72d :
I always edit for Bad News... I want my archives (when found) to show that I did Successful and Clever Things... And I like knowing that there's a predictable backbone to my life. I can try new things, but I want a certain predictability as a shield and as security...
from raven72d :
I'm an obsessive about keeping archives... But I do "sanitize" my records-- no Bad News.
from kittyleopard :
Its been a long time since I've left you a note. So *tackles*. There ya go.
from czarandom :
That's an interesting and fantastic idea, vdery much in the spirit of scrap booking. I hesitate even to say its even a white lie because of its grace and beauty. Very cool.

I don't mind long drives...just bridges, elevated roadways, and urban traffic... I always feel like I'll be crushed by some SUV ("soov") driving moron or an evil 18-wheeler...that I won't know how to change lanes...or that my car will stall on a bridge...
from raven72d :

ARGH!! Statistics is going to KILL my GPA!!!! I don't think I've hated a class so much since Economics! Ok so including today tomorrow and the two days of finals, I have approximately (stats word, ack!) one week and four days left until I'm done for break. I'd get all excited and everything about "break", except I'm doing the whole summer school thing. :P

Thanks for all the contact info to send a nasty letter to the people who produce that awful show, The Swan. I too am furious that they're keeping this garbage on the air, and I'll be sending my letter when the post office opens in the morning! Keep up the good work, and the awesome diary!
from crazy4js :
hey,i totally agree w/u about the swan!its such a terrible and evil show!its so degrading to have them pretty much openly saying that if your not a supermodel then your ugly and that is so wrong!

from raven72d :
I'd like to live with someone for a while, just to say I had. It's like going to Cancun on Spring Break-- a ticket that you should get punched while in college...
from raven72d :
Marriage... I don't want to *be* married, but I want to know that I *could*. Marriage is a social checklist item-- something you do to get social approval of you as not Oedipally-challenged or Totally Gay. It's a marker rather than valuable in and of itself. But I have no idea how people *get* maried, how they choose partners-- *find* partners --or get around to asking/being accepted. (That's a big validation thing, too) And I couldn't get married or live with someone (even if some girl would have me) because I couldn't afford it and/or risk having to tell family what I was doing.
from raven72d :
Let's see... I compulsively watch CNN and Fox-- all the more so since Sept. 2001. Would I join the military? I'm a bit old for that, but I would purchase a major's rank in a good-- cavalry, preferably Guards cavalry --regiment or in air intelligence (I'm a big fan of the B-1B and the B-52). I did indeed send out resumes to various intelligence agencies in the fall of 2001. Ihave languages, I've lived overseas, I have a doctorate in History, I've taught courses in Central Asia and in nationalism & religion. Alas-- I can't pass a security check. Can the "War on Terror" be won? Yes-- but only by recognizing that it's not just terror cells that have to be crushed, but an entire ideology-- radical Islamism --that has to be destroyed...along with its spokesmen and teachers.

Construction workers, males in general, can be quite sexist... on the other hand, if that is your pic on your diary, you are very attractive... yes it was objectifying you and stereotypical sexist behavior... and yet when I was building my house I learned that buying lunch for the crew was a great way to get them to do their best on their work, making the effort more personal and therein, better for me... though if I was in your shoes, I'd probably not like the 'bimbo' treatment... especially from a company that delayed service so long... anyway, I followed your banner and hope your roof is great :)

Snarky women at the gym? Who would have thought? Women are generally snarky and jealous which is discouraging. Ive learned to just ignore other people at the gym. Youre not there for them anyway so dont let them get to you. I sometimes take a walkman and literally ignore everyone in the place. Well, as far as finding a gym I like it was sort of hit or miss. I joined an all womens gym years ago and didnt like it because the other women are kind of weird and it was this tiny little place. I didnt feel comfortable. I worked for Ballys for a couple of years and while they have decent gyms I dont like the attitude there. I like 24 hour fitness because I dont feel uncomfortable there for whatever reason and the staff is great. I think its just a matter of going different places and trying them out to see where youre comfortable. Your choices are limited if you want to go somewhere all female though. Maybe start at the local rec. center or YMCA to see how dedicated youre going to be about it. It would suck to plunk down a bunch of money on a place youre not going to use. Let me know how it goes.

if you've been wondering, it's that binary message that's been messing up the format of your notes page. Since it has no spaces, the browser doesn't really know what to do with it. Feel free to delete it. ;)
from nypizzas2 :
Woah. Someone else who hates summer. Rock on! I can't stand the heat as it is, and you know how bad it gets here in Florida. Plus, all the bugs come out, and there's just nothing to DO if you're in school, ya know? Anyhoo. Rock on.
from physgeek :
thanks for reminding me... they forgot to give it to us and i am supposed to go pick it up... woops... cheers! :-P
from raven72d :
Do you like Moleskine notebooks or the comix art of Matt Howarth? Do you recall the Sienkiewicz series "Stray Toasters"?
from raven72d :
You know-- I just found your diary. Vur' serendipity, vur' excellent. Good choice of period films, too... You might look for a French film called "Ridicule", too... And a 1980s period piece-- the wonderfully literate and witty "Metropolitan". I'll definitely be reading you on a regular basis.
from phizhy :
want to join on a fun little project i started yesterday? stop by my diary & read all about it.
from buddhawhoa :
I agree whole heartedly, I took a cultural diversity class that was oriented towards women...it was interesting to say the least.
from buddhawhoa :
I've been to Montreal and Quebec, there are sooo much fun! We went on a disco boat down the St. Lawrence, too cool!
from unhappyboy :
it's my dream to go to montreal one day. and the good thing is that it's perfectly possible.
from technibeetle :
hehe i don't want to be shot at, but a little danger and excitement would be interesting...
from czarandom :
To best answer how an interesting life could be a curse, i would like to point out my friend of many years, Indiana Jones. There is not one person that could say that his life was not interesting, but would you really want to be shot at all the time like he is? Of course not! Forever fleeing from Nazi scum is no life for me, and for that matter, my own life is a little too interesting for me sometimes. The point is that the ancient chinese proverb equates "interesting" with 'dangerous' or 'stressful'. Another interesting life is that of the runner at marathon. Don't you think, as patriotic his act was, that he would've liked to have a wife and kids? Of course he would! Certainly interesting can be quite wonderful and dramaticly beautiful, but it can be a certain sort of hell too.
from buddhawhoa :
dude if you find out let me know, in reference to where you find them...
from technibeetle :
"There is an ancient chinese curse: may your life be interesting. Careful what you wish for." hehehe binary wheee!
from abbazabbas :
my friend avery lives in ohio too. he's got a band that makes me laugh. but its a good laugh. stay-cool.
from avasays :
Hey there. NO, you are not expecting too much. Sadly, it looks as if your expectations won't get met, but it is not because you are asking too much. Mom problems are hard, I think there is always a certain level of guilt and responsiblity felt in a mother daughter relationship. You being a good mother is the best way to break that. Good luck! Thanks for the note by the way, love notes!!
from buddhawhoa :
also, you should organize an ohio geek conference, that would be totally fun.
from buddhawhoa :
dudette you get a lot of notes
from czarandom :
You're walcome. Any time!!
from parlance :
I think it's fair to say that exes [DO] suck.
from carriem :
Sorry to hear about ur ex, i am glad ur better today :) I hope that you enjoy getting rid of crap in ur parent's basement, sounds like a college kid's haven for crap to furnish thier houses :) Lord knows i could use endtables and a coffee table :) Have a great evening and i hope you have a good sunday :)
from kittyleopard :
Aw, honey I'm sorry. Ex-boyfriends suck hardcore.
from czarandom :
The way you are handling this situation is a testament to your wisdom, grace and strength. It seems apparent to me that you will exit this strife stronger and more able for it.
from evesbanshee :
I caught a banner and stopped in. I really enjoyed reading the main entry. I have 2 little boys, so having kids, I know that you have to be extremly cautious about who is in their life. It sounds like he just isn't stable or safe enough to be in Z's life right now. I wish you best of luck. I'll proabably come back to read to see how your doing.
from feelsnothing :
your beautiful
from unhappyboy :
what a horrible situation to be in. but it seems to me like you're doing everything you can to deal with it in the right way.
from ilovemusic06 :
It sounds like you could use some advice on what to do with your ex. I know this great advice coulomist. email them at [email protected] Good luck
from the-thinline :

from physgeek :
oy! yeah... I've basically finished all of my finals save for one... which shouldn't be as hard as, well, as I refer to it: "THE FINAL FROM HELL!" but it's going to be difficult. It's tomorrow. As you can see I'm not updating all that much because, well, I've been locked in a room by a thing called physics. I think someone should call 911... because... physics is only giving me bread and water and differential equations... and it's beating me every now and again until I rotate the coordinate axes to something really hard... okay... that was supposed to be funny but I think that all it accomplished was to make me look like a dweeb. Yes... I am a dweeb. Wow it's really not that late but I feel like I've been hit by a bulldozer and honestly I've lost all control of my fingers they're just typing what they want...
from buddhawhoa :
hey i have a dilemma, if i lock my diary, but give you a password, and i excluded from the ohio geeks diary ring? i need to lock my diary but i want to stay in the ring also
from avasays :
Great diary! Thanks for the note, it was one of those days, you know? I will be back to read more, and good luck with school. Been there, done that. We are both in OR, actually, though now I am more towards P-town. Best of luck. xoxoxo avasays
from madam-rose :
lol great site.
from kittyleopard :
Awesome diary! You rock my socks. Karma.
from technibeetle :
haha what couldn't i make out of the arms!? they look like giant paddles!
from shadow-box :
Maybe you could save the carved wood arm rests, and get rid of the rest of the chair? I'm sure you could make an interesting scupture out of them? Exams, ugh. You will do as well as you believe you can do, studying or not. :)
from shadow-box :
Hello, I've been looking for a quote for my profile. But it's not easy. You just speak in paragraphs of brilliance. And paragraphs seldom fit in those lil white slots. Call your Mom first, she can intervene with the police when the time is right. Until then, she may know some local rescue houses, or a YWCA. The woman needs to know it's not her fault, and so do her children. However your own faith works, I believe you were meant to see this woman. What you do next, is your choice. The choices you made, when you went through this yourself, they will give you perspective. The police can only do so much, it's frustrating. But I know most church leaders have more power, because they have an entire community to fall back on. Don't worry about doing the right thing, or doing too little, do what feels good in your heart. :)
from darkmetal182 :
your ex is an ass. i would kill him instead before he kills me. yep and as for da lady..ya you should tell someone about it.
from buddhawhoa :
I took the equivalent of 101 for polisci, i say equivalent becuase i went to a different school, it was the catalyst for my interest in politics and i'm taking stats 135 also, it should be loads and loads of fun XO
from buddhawhoa :
hey what stats are you taking, and also what political science?
from kimisamazing :
just a small note to say how much I enjoy your assorted ramblings... your diary is very interesting. I always wonder if people who use the small "i" have a confidence problem or if their keyboard is just stuck...
from darkmetal182 :
