It's too much for you to handle right now, so coping mechanism it is, until you can 'deal' with the situation better. Grief has many stages. Get through them as slow as you need to, but don't 'stuff things down'. That's unwise and unhealthy. Of course, I might be preaching to the choir, here. | I once purchased this brand of pre-sliced, pre-cook pot roast that all one needs do is heat it in the oven for four minutes, plate, and serve. Only... it was iridescent on exit from the package, as you described the beef in the lunchroom to be. My stomach just churned, as I promptly threw the entire thing into the trash.
