from delighted :
Ah Nanaimo! I wish there was an indie band that sang about the delights of nanaimo! Ah nanaimo!
from f-i-n :
I love the picture of the picture-takers...
from bi-pet :
love, love, love - your journal!
from boombasticat :
Thanks for the note. I had to read it twice because there was a lot going on in it, which is nice. About having the oddball thoughts or insights, I've always thought that having a diary like this one is the best place for one-in-the-morning thoughts that feel a little truer than all the others. Also, your note about thinking about your future self having nostalgia for the present moment, etc. made me think of this writer Andre Aciman. I got to meet him and talk to him and his book of essays "False Papers" is precisely about that sense of not really belonging in the present, the past, or the future. (Either a scary or liberating thought, right?)
from mangotuesday :
just wanted to say hi. lovelovelove.
from delighted :
You're so right about the breathing thing re: smoking. A friend of mind said you should notice how you breathe when smoking and then just do it without the cigarette! I don't know if I am ready yet. But it gives me hope to know in the future I could have non-smoking breaks.
from forty-plus :
Happy New Year!
from oh-sweet-pea :
a most excellent entry! i'm glad all the sweating, heart-palpitating, and spongy bum prodding was worth the climb.
from yamakingj :
Sadly, I am in Not-So-Grand Junction, a misfortune I am hoping to soon remedy. And yes, sprouted grain -anything- tastes like a carbohydrate carnival.
from likeaforest :
siri! i finally sat down to write you a letter and realized i didn't have your address anywhere on hand, and that it's not on the postcards you sent me. can you email it to me, maybe? jlbraun at ucdavis dot edu.
from cameraeye :
Hi, and thanks for the kind words. Yes, the NHRR pics were from the 23rd, around 4:30PM. The sky was quite captivating. I use a Canon EOS dslr. Can't place the name of your Branford friend. Did he attend Branford High?
from cameraeye :
wonders never cease. noticed you are in new haven area. i grew up in branford.
from cameraeye :
happy valley, yes. have you spent some time there?
from division-day :
thanks for the comment on my diary, glad to know it still moves someone, somewhere.. it's been less inspired lately because i've been writing obsessively at 43things, which by the way, i found from your page, so thank you for that. it's addictive. actually, my latest diary entry was just copied from a 43things entry. but don't tell anyone. :)
from spitfire79 :
thanks! alas, my next grand adventure: trying to afford a cockroach-infested apt in brooklyn. yelp!
from mangotuesday :
congratulations to your friend! you're going to have so much fun!
from mangotuesday :
i've missed you.
from vocalfern :
siri, sorry about the lack of mixcd your way. its coming. i am working out a brand new one. im always evolving with music, when i got back from being away this summer, there were new and better songs to be heard. and besides, i really really like the idea of sending things to a stranger. be well. love bee
from mangotuesday :
and well wishes on your journey.
from mangotuesday :
you are gifted.
from participant :
Siri, I used one of your Lola and Chuggen pics as my wallpaper here in the lab, and everyone thought it was a veiled reference to cock and pussy. I just thought it was oddly cute.
from mangotuesday :
! um. backandforthforever. i pretty much think you are the greatest.
from mangotuesday :
siri. oh my gosh. i wish i could go to everyshow. they are so cute with their cheers and regional finals practice. you are going to faint. sufjan is one of my most favourite alive people in the world. he is SO darling. every detail. after the show in portland we went to seattle to see him again. i cant wait to tell diaryland all about it. i can/t stop smiling. my friend made him a present. and . thank you from the bottom of my whole heart. for those pretty postcards. which i love. i am so lucky to have you for a friend. [
from vocalfern :
okay baby, it's yours. love, bee
from starfreer :
re: rilke comparison. you're too kind! maybe it's a good thing that irony doesn't pass on very well on the innernet .. since i don't think i believe much of it. if only i could live up to what i write, haha. p.s. your cat is most pettable-looking.
from starfreer :
thank you, but your diary is lovelier than mine.
from vocalfern :
humid new england love to you. si, paloma
from mangotuesday :
oh happy day you were born right back! my birthday was the thirteenth of june. [like mary kate and ashley olsen. and jean claude and christo. and jpoet112 and brothasistas] what day was yours? love and 43 things.
from likeaforest :
i am now totally addicted to 43 things! yeesh!
from likeaforest :
yes, i have seen that site! it is fascinating, but also kind of gives me the creeps, you know?
from mister-ed :
heheh i wish i was still there. what's new england like? the most obvious things the foreign persective offered were that americans are polite, into accents and nothing like the way they are portrayed in the media.
from augustclay :
Please keep 'em coming sls. Your number one fan awaits for more juicy entries. FYI: I read a genuine helpful how-to write guide within J.D. Salinger's "Seymour." Much love, A.C.
from rainhammers :
hi.
from christabean :
Thanks for your note about my awesome dog. I think she's pretty great even though she still poops on the floor and gnaws on everything. A minute ago I told her to get a toy and she got so happy she fell over backwards. There is nothing better than puppies. (Kittens are good, though.)
from mangotuesday :
probably. because there was some little thing. where it tells you. out of all the people in your email address book. who is in that land. oh paperairplane friendships and i have been thinking about where you can get a pretty white dress and how i have been meaning to tell you that your note made my little life. you are so special and true. lovelovelove. with my whole heart.
from likeaforest :
dear siri, if you are ever in need of a penpal, i hope you could keep me in mind.
from likeaforest :
yes, seeds were exactly what i was thinking too, but usually such ingredients aren't found in roll out/sugar cookies, so i wasn't sure if this might be a problem or no. is soap easy to make? i've sort of been tempted, but never actually tried to. also, one last thing i have been meaning to say: i like the layout of your new website lots.
from oh-sweet-pea :
thank goodness for good ol' canada! the oc lives up here!!
from mangotuesday :

from spitfire79 :
you're downloading the tain? from where, may i ask? you can find obscure bootleg dvds like mr.show or the entire first season of pee wee's playhouse, but fat chance of finding good pirated music.
from mangotuesday :

from southeast :
i have to lock southeast for now. but if you would like the password, send me a note with your email address. love and produce.
from mangotuesday :

from forty-plus :
I hope you are alright. If you would like to continue to share with me, I'd love to keep reading. Take good care.
from likeaforest :
a bit of a delayed reaction, but i have been meaning to tell you: not only did i too watch all those silly nick at nite shows, but i also had a rather ill-founded crush on maynard g krebs! seriously.
from mangotuesday :

from mangotuesday :
such good taste you have. we are a music match.
from forty-plus :
Thanks for adding me to your faves. I especially liked your Christmas highlights ... being sore from laughing is a wonderful thing!
from delighted :
I am unlocked, you can come visit. Thanks for your kind words.
from techrat :
thank you for enjoying my diary. and leaving your mark on my little map. i, too, have been known to be susceptible to bouts of insomnia. though it's usually because i'm looking for ways to put off homework rather than out of any inability to sleep...procrastination is the name of this game!
from mister-ed :
when you see one, you will know, and there's no shame in wanting to develop one for yourself.
from likeaforest :
i'm very sorry to say that could never listen to the smith station because the reception wasn't ever very good, but o, i was so enamoured of the amherst station! i actually have their site bookmarked just in case i ever feel like listening to their station online, but unfortunately it never occurs to me until 11 pm my time (by which point the station has gone off the air for the night). it is sad, sad stuff.
from likeaforest :
ahh! now i am addicted to somafm too! how did i manage without it before? it is lovely stuff. also, forgive the nosiness, but does the northampton reference mean you maybe went to smith?
from laura-jane :
Whenever I see Clodhoppers I think immediately of you. I miss you and your writing here. Fondest Thoughts, Laura-Jane
from purplebanana :
Oh, spam. Sometimes it makes my eyes bleed.
from nookncranny :
glad you're okay, sweetpea.
from mfm :
THANK you for the amazing shirt! as soon as i saw it, i thought, did she make this? it's beautiful, and it fits really well and it's soft soft soft! you absolutely made my day. i put the shirt on immediately and thought, "somebody loves me." kisses and hugs galore. (ok, i will end this in favor of more private communication soon.)
from mfm :
well, spring has slipped away again, but i'm just hoping all the flowers survive. i know what you mean about correcting things. i *refuse* to let certain written errors go.
from mfm :
yes! i was hoping to respond via postcard or similar, but have not yet. thank you! did you make it? it looks awesome & i was wondering how it was accomplished. spring *has* come to baltimore, and some budding daffodils brought tears to my eyes on friday. xo, mfm
from o-pisces-pal :
Dear SLS, do tell me if you'd like to art-mail. I do love that shit. Also, the link you left for stencil revolution was my favorite I've seen in a year. Poetic terrorism like whoa.
from etan :
happy friday the 13th ^_^
from laura-jane :
Indeed, I received your beautiful cello-esque postcard. Thank you! I think it has inspired me to start a collection of cello-themed postcards (to go along with my non-existant-but-often-fantasized-about collection of accordion postcards). Are you still living at The Knickerbocker?
from mfm :
siri, your mom is so lucky to have you. thank you so much for the birthday wishes. your note brought tears to my eyes! i keep thinking of calling you, but i'm never sure where you are. let's email a little to work out a call or a visit. xoxoxoxo, mary
from laura-jane :
The book arrived quickly, I'm glad! Brutal yet lovely honesty: Siri, I know that the number of times we actually spoke and spent time together in Nanaimo were relatively small, but I just wanted to tell you that you entered my life at the most fantastical time, and have inspired me in so very many ways. Before I met you, I was not the least bit interested in any thing domestic or crafty, and had altogether given up on connecting in any means with another woman on the planet. Meeting and communicating with you has honestly and literally altered the course of my life for the better. (The cat is now out of the bag!) Thank you for all that..! Love, Laura-Jane
from gnometits :
hey, thanks for joining the postal service diary ring. happy new year.
from mfm :
siri, thank you for the message. it helped a lot to know that you were thinking of us. i'll try to call you soon. i'm kinda a mess right now, but i'm pushing on. i should have a long weekend up near you, either at the end of this month or sometime in jan. (i'm keeping my fingers crossed that punkin will be able to go off the insulin.) *a big hug*
from ophelia2love :
Hey "sis"-stah... you dont know me, or i dont think you do anyways..smile* but i found you when i was looking to see if anyone like lisa germano besides me... haha. and there i found ya. so please come read my journal, if you want.. there. i left you a note.*wink. Go Lisa Germano!!-
from keryanna :
As an adult orphan myself, I can empathize. For the majority of my adult life - holidays (especially Christmas and Thanksgiving) were endured not celebrated. I found the best remedy to be oodles of Nyquil. I think I slept away a good seven years of Thanksgivings. It's after midnight now. I hope today is a better day for you :)
from etan :

from laura-jane :
First off, mailing address: 4402 King Alfred Court, Victoria BC, V8N 6E4, Canada. (I can't remember whether I posted this address in your guestbook a few days ago, but signmyguestbook is in perpetual limbo right now, so I can't check.) Secondly: glad to see you've been able to update a lot recently; I miss being able to check up on your happenings like clock-work. Sounds as though major changes are afoot..? I hope that you are doing alright and that all is well..? I think of you often. Love and Thoughts, Laura-Jane
from o-pisces-pal :

from etan :
hi siri! i just thought i'd send you a warm happy vibe. i love you, even if it hurts. =)
from laura-jane :
Thank you for your address (I noticed the correct one in my notes as well)! I shall be mailing something in, I would say, the next two weeks; I hope it will find you well, and brighten your day. I hope all is handleable, and I am certain that your summer will indeed shape up. And soon. Love, Laura-Jane
from etan :
i love you siri!!! p.s.-do not feed mosquitos
from laura-jane :
Happy (Sort of Belated) Birthday, Wonderful Siri!
from keryanna :
I so get the ranch style house, big window psycho thing. I went to a party last night and we were suppose to sleep over - however, due to the fact that it was a cabin with huge windows in the middle of the woods, I couldn't sleep a wink. It's the kind of place that noone can hear you scream. Jake didn't get it. I told them because, as far as serial killers/psycho/rapists go, you're not exactly their prime target. And nothing good happens when a bunch of girls fall asleep in a log cabin in the the middle of the woods.
from etan :
i found this interesting site...you must see: http://www.disturbingauctions.com/
from etan :

from dland-stamps :
Howdy... thanks for submitting a stamp! It's so purdy too, that it just has to be stamp of the day!
from marn :
Thank you kindly for the link to your card--ka-ching, you're added to my collection. I enjoy the unique way each person handles them; they're great fun to read.
from laura-jane :
Wonderful new layout!
from keryanna :
My husband is Canadian. We met when he just happened to be in Delaware on a temporary work assignment. We were married here and now he's applying for dual citizenship. So we need to stay in the States for 2 more years so he can get that. But he really wants to return to Canada. Vancouver in particular because that's where he was living when he left for his work assignment ... and fell in love with the place. Unfortunately, he fell in love with me too ... so he never returned. His family is from the Toronto area - so that's where we return for the holidays. I have incredible wanderlust so I have no qualms with moving to a new city at all ... But I've never been to Vancouver - so I don't know what to expect. Hence the reason for my note. That's pretty much my story. Oh, and I was looking through your diary and saw your feelings about turning 26. I hear ya, sister. I just turned 27 - and I have no clue how I got here. According to my calculations when I was 12 .. by this age I should have a a mansion on a hill, a beach house in the wine country of Italy, should have achieved something of great world significance, and completed my dream to travel across Europe. Twice. Haven't quite gotten there yet. Here's hoping that by thirty I prove to be more productive.
from etan :
i love you!
from angryquail :
I'm sick too! Except I got better, to be replaced by the menstrual flow. I still sound like shit, and my sinuses are all clogged up and I have a remnant cough where all that happens is I cough and spit flies out. But life isn't so bad right now, so I hope the same applies to you.
from angryquail :
I'm so glad. I am such a wreck right now. My boyfriend is addicted to something! That bastard.
from angryquail :
I just read your entire diary! I love it! I'm adding you to my favorites list. (I just came back to diaryland, and I found you by searching for those who love Cat Power.)
from laura-jane :
your twinkie entry reminds me why i like you.
from laura-jane :
oh lord. somehow cam managed to convince me that black hair would be a good idea. but it really was not. i am now (at this very second) sitting with blonde hair dye on my now-black hair, in tears. i don't know what is going to happen to my hair. black to blonde normally doesn't work out, or so i hear. cam is playing accordion music to try to cheer me up. i miss you. i'll let you know how this hair-nightmare turns out.
from laura-jane :
wow. there is no way i can top that one.
from p-e-n-i-s :
i love you
